Use our rumours form to send us arsenal transfer rumours.

My prediction for tomorrow is a 2 2 draw, try and be a bit more optimistic I hear you say!

I am being optimistic because deep down I fear a 2 1 defeat but I'm trying to fight it

1-1 Welbeck.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we are more likely to win than lose. The one positive recently is that we have the attacking quality to force goals, even when we aren't playing well. Sanchez is adapting and improving every game, and always works hard. Welbeck has the finesse to convert chances even when he hasn't had a great game. Most of our attacking players had poor games against Hull and we still got 2 goals.

As with every game recently, it will come down to basic defensive errors. (I still fear for our defensive form across the season of course) I don't know why but I think we'll ride this one out and get a win. I am more worried about Sunderland tbh.

You're absolutely right not to be over-optimistic after our recent displays. I can see us winning though. I don't mind being disappointed at this stage, I'm so used to it. I don't even really care about being a 'blind supporter, ' I want to remember what I expect of our team so I can tell how far off we are. Nothing but a win is acceptable and we're more than capable. I (dangerously) predict 3-1 to us. Let's see how close the team can get.

Red dog is doing what Gunner62 did last season, hopefully he doesn't turn against Wenger next year, because I share your optimism. I'll be very hurt just like Gunner62 feels betrayed now

Agree0 Disagree0

Gunner, I would normally run straight down the bookies, well get in the car and lump on your predictions, but not this time. Your letting your depressive state cloud your judgement. It will be 1-3 mate. We have to move up a gear soon or we never will.

Agree0 Disagree0

5-0 GUYS TO US!

Have some faith

Hello there everybody, firstly I admire red dogs attitude and I take my hat off to him, but Wenger has slowly destroyed my trust in him, to the point where I sincerly wish he would just go.This weekend if Poyet sends a twin rocket up everybodys jacksies like I am expecting, I don't trust Wenger to get across to the team that we are in for a real streetfight and we need to roll up our sleeves and stand our ground before it gets to his tactic talk(WE WILL USE PLAN A).Just getting back to the Chelsea game, the ball over the top from that player to Costa is exactly what we should have done to them utilising our pace and I do think we coud have got something out of that game with thhe right tactics and mental approach.
Take care people

I think people's trust/faith in Wenger has reached an all time low.

Alas, it extends to the team.
I have no faith that we will beat Anderlecht, and indeed Sunderland.

If he was in this Arsenal team he would be our fulcrum.

I know he is not everybody's cup of tea, but for a meagre £3.5m we could have picked up Diame, who wanted to join us.

I would of took diame for sure

Le Coq, Arteta, Diaby, Flamini, are all on expiring contracts.

considering Ed002 stated that arsenal are quite near violating FFP due to wages, the expiring deals would clearly relieve us of significant wages.

not to forget any potential sales such as poldi and maybe Joel Cambell.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Arsenal have already violated FFP regarding wages.}

21 Oct 2014 15:38:52
Ed02,

Would that fact have been an issue in Wenger attempting to bring in a Defensive midfielder or another Centre back prior to the close of the summer window if he had been looking to do so.

Will it also make it difficult for us to purchase players in January unless we off load some players first.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - No, it is what it is. I would not worry about it and it won't impact the primary targets for January.}

It'll be good to have Chambers back for Wednesday night to partner Per in the centre of defence. That being said though it's a bit concerning that we are going to put our leaky defence in front of our 3rd choice GK with WS and DO suspended and injured. :-s

Apparently, Anderlicht's only loss in quite a few matches was in the champions league to Dortmund last time out. However they struggled to a draw against some wee Belgium team at the weekend, with their coach describing it as the worst performance they've had since he's been in charge.

Hopefully they are at the start of a dip in form and don't bounce back with a vengeance mid-week. A win for us and a Gala/Dort draw would have things looking sweeter in the champions league at least.

On an other note, it was good to see UEFA fining Galatasary for the damage and disturbances they caused at the Emirates. Arsenal got away scot free and justice has been done :-)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It will be interesting to see if Wenger selects Chambers in place of Bellerin & leaves Monreal at center back. Alternatively, perhaps Koscielny is back & we can select Chambers, Merts, Kos & Gibbs??

Just read an interesting article about how Arsenal fans see the 2 0 defeat at Chelsea as progress after last seasons thrashing.
Its true, we were both disappointed and relieved by the result which I think says a lot about us right now.
It may be true but its not right for a club like us to see any defeat as a success of any kind

Believable0 Unbelievable0

21 Oct 2014 11:25:14
I don't see it as any success but equally 6-0 to 2-0 is an improvement simply in numbers.

We had and have the attacking ability to beat them, let down by a single run into our penalty area and a great finish from Costa.

I hate any loss or even a draw, we can forever look on the negative and Wenger frustrates the hell out of me at times but I'm not going to spend every day getting down about it.

We are out of form, we need to get in form and start defending like we did last year, players should be following the examples set my the likes of Welbeck and Sanchez.

I'm not going to get uptight about players that are not here just get behind those that are.

Just as a matter of interest g62 if you put Chelsea's strongest team down on paper, who do you see on there bench and who of them are game changers?

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd be happy to have Willian Shirrle Drogba and Ramires on our bench Red no problem at all.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Oct 2014 13:15:31
It's seems to be either Schurlle or Willian play so potentially Chelsea have Willian, Baker, Ramirez, Remy, Zouma, luiz, Salah, Ake and Drogba on the bench.

City can have any of Nasri, Dzeko, Fernando, Navas, Lampard, Sagna, Mangala, Clichy and Jovetic.

We could have Wilshere, Giroud, Cazorla, Chamberlain, Chambers, Rosicky, Campbell, Arteta and Gnabry on ours.

I know they have made a great start but their bench sucks if you ask me and they have yet to have injuries in the plural.

I'd rather have our bench than Chelsea's. We simply need the DM and the CB to compete totally. Which in terms of players isn't that far off. Form wise we are a mile off.

Agree0 Disagree0

Love your positivity Red and only wish I still shared it as I did in abundance this time last year.
Me I've tired of hearing how good we'll be WHEN everyone's fit and how POTENTIALLY we're as good as anyone and Arsene will get what we need in the NEXT window, I knew in August a title challenge was beyond us but felt and still feel we'll get 3rd a long long way behind the top 2.
To continuously finish each season with just enough is not good enough anymore we should be challenging into May not necessarily winning the title but truly challenging by now, utd will move above us again next season because we didn't take our chance while they were weak to push on.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Oct 2014 15:13:28
I'm not trying to change your opinion g62 and everyone will change personnel again next year and United will do so more than most and probably a fair bit in January.

City and Chelsea will tinker to a degree but by filling the obvious gaps we will be up there. Do you really believe he won't because there is stupid and there is proper stupid and I don't think he is either.

Hard as it is for anyone to see it now, we can and will challenge City, Chelsea and United, there will be no requirement to pounce when any team is weak.

Wenger wants to win, he wants to win the league and champions league, he has had to settle for the poxy fourth place trophy through necessity not want.

There is a valid argument that but for Eduardo and Ramsey things may look a lot different.

Agree0 Disagree0

Red I really wish you or someone could change my mind and make me feel optimistic again its no fun seeing storm clouds ahead I desperately want to see rainbows again.
Gary Nevil said after one of our games last season ( Vila away I think) " Arsenal need to win the league this season because next season Chelsea city utd will all be much stronger" I was outraged by his comments and posted on here AND WE WONT BE I SUPPOSE? I Feel a bit foolish now for posting that back then but I really believed we would do what needed doing in the summer when I posted that.
Mate I have no wish to take away your optimism in fact I'm envious of it but Arsene's done me like a Kipper this time and I have no trust left in him at all, sadly

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Oct 2014 16:02:33
Mate,

Wenger has made mistakes, missed buying players we needed, if we fail to win zip this season he has big decisions to make, I don't fear life at Arsenal without him because there will always be top managers to take his role.

It is down to him, I believe he wants it but has to do the right things. We are playing pants, have injuries again we don't need and need to hit form. All these are things that no one wants to see so the dark clouds are building from many posters.

I get that I just ain't going to worry about it, Arsenal is my team and things always get better. :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

We would like to win the title but the price of success now is high with Russians. Arabs etc joining football after our stadium move. City. Chelsea manu will continue to spend as much as they can.

You look at the champions league. Its tougher than ever now. We need to catch up quickly or we will be left behind for a while

Agree0 Disagree0

We need us manic so wenger can buy the players he really needs? Or with wengers tactical ineptitude will that not even make a difference?

Also red dog you have to be the most naive person on this site mate. it's a miracle if any gooner really believes wenger will deliver another bpl or ucl cup

Positives:

United drew (although we will probably draw the same fixture)

Witty is back with his brilliant Screenshot picture from his iPhone/iPod Touch.

Some injured guys are reappearing

We get to hear the Champions League tune again.

We might win tomorrow *Shock Horror*

A draw isn't a loss? (clutching at straws now)

Spurs are still pants!

*sigh*

Khedira will go to Bayern chavs or utd in January that's pretty obvious and why wouldn't he?
More money more chance of success where as all we can offer is the pride of playing for us which although it means everything to us I doubt it means anything to him.
We need to be looking at players who still see coming to us as an honour not as a last resort and will bust a gut trying for us.
One or two players who may not be the very best in the game technically but good players with big hearts and lots of pridein wearing our shirt would do us no harm at all.

Lol, sorry mate, just paying you back for the 3 months of hell you put me through regarding Remy, lol.

G62,

A well deserved 1-1 lol.

Fair play mate, it seems a score draw is always the most likely result this season with anything that involves Arsenal :-)
I might start doing the pools again at least that way the point at home to Burnley might have a positive side to it :-)

Banbury posted yesterday,

"I hope we finish below all European places, that might be the only way things hit home" (with the board).

I know where Bambam is coming from.

Do you agree?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

21 Oct 2014 00:36:16
i'd say I am 50/50 on that one,
i do agree things would hit home with the board
but you may get some players who might want to leave and the board may sell them to get money we don't get for not qualifying for europe.

Agree0 Disagree0

Doesn't have to be out of all European places but certainly out of the champions league places. That's where the money is. But saying that a large chunk of the money that has been accumulated has been set aside for exactly this. So you can imagine Gazidis saying something along the lines of, "yes we finished out the top 4 blah blah blah but we don't mind because we planned for it blah blah blah."

Agree0 Disagree0

Silent Stan the Board and I believe Arsene Himself all see top Four as success, this has been said many times.
I have said for a few years while we keep achieving the minimum requirements there will be no pressure on Arsene from his bosses only from those who don't count, fans media etc.
Once it starts hurting those who have powder to change things then Arsene will be given a advisory job and a new man brought in.
While the board and the fans measure success differently there's always only going to be one winner

Does the FA, or should the FA, have a disciplinary panel who could/should punish players who blatantly dive to win a penalty?

Victor Moses hang your head in shame.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I would say yes. One fix to the problem is to introduce a category simply called "Cheating".}

21 Oct 2014 00:36:37
Totally agree Ed

Agree0 Disagree0

Video evidence should be used and when a player is proven to have dived a 3 match ban should be introduced for the first offence then 5 games and so on.
This would make their managers solve the problem, it would be ok in this country but abroad I'm not so sure as I think diving ie seen as part of the game in lots of countries.
Roben is a hero for it for club and country

Just listening to Jamie Carragher and have to agree with him, Arsenal are even further away this season .

Have to agree with Steve, the only positive to take is that apart from Chelsea and City the rest of us are poor

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I said we will be further away from the champions than we were last year. Its blatent to see I think. Our transfer business was over hyped.
