Get real boys and girls, we struggled to beat a bottom 3 team? Good news is that the Bayern players may just be thinking they just got to turn up to win? Really can see us turning them over!
Much love & happy Xmas to all us long suffering Gooners & big shout to our magnificent away support, easily the best in the country!

Not sure what to make of Villa rumours, but if we did get him for 6 million on moderate wage I'd be smiling.

Imagine we got rid of Gerv, Chamakh, Arsh and assuming Walcott were to leave, as well as permanent departure of Bendtner and Park the next season

and brought in Llorente, Huntelaar, and Villa, for 6m a piece

alongside Pod and Giroud and played 4-4-2 (I know - I'm not looking for much :P)

we would have an unbelievable well exp. strike force that grabbed the goals and made for awesome rotation!

I know what i want for Xmas....

I'd like we sign 3 to 4 players

Isco
M'villa/sissoko
Williams
Jovetic/ padolski playing up front

Wasn't the best game we've ever played but you've got to give credit to wigan, they closed us down well and kept the ball brilliantly.

Overall i'm pleased with the win on another day we could of easily drew/lost that game.

People say arsenal defence is not good but only 3 clubs have let less goals in than arsenal, last 3 prem games arsenal scored 8 conceded 2, the 3 clubs who have let less goals than arsenal are, man city, stoke and chelsea all the rest have let more in, now try and say arsenal defence is bad after them facts.KarlC

i truthfully broke my coffee table when the ref booked wilshere for that tackle. Its ridiculous, Wilshere is a good oldfashioned midfileder who like a tackles and it was an exquisite tackle. Yet he got booked. It baffles me.

Well done Theo with the better second half. I remember Wrighty having many a quiet game and winning it with his only kick of the game.
Good to see us winning ugly

22 Dec 2012 14:46:31
Well, not the best game of football i've seen but a win is a win!

Theo has played better, Podolski was pedestrian, Ox not great, Cazorla had an off day and we STILL WON!

Believable6 Unbelievable20

Ox won man of the match

Agree17 Disagree0

22 Dec 2012 15:20:38
Not great you're right, Theo I appreciate is learning that role but needs to help us by holding the ball and moving it off much better. Was making me swear a lot watching him.

The Ox got man of the match from Nial Quinn for his 2nd half performance. I liked Vermaelen and Arteta today, Arteta is definately a leader. Shame we don't have a solid central mid to use him higher up the park.

Overall gave me frigging kittens again but dug out 3 points.

Stoner

Agree3 Disagree0

^^ Don't get me wrong the Ox did work hard, but I thought he ran the ball into the corner a lot rather than cross it early, needs to get his had up a bit more - thats my opinion anyway, Niall who?

Agree3 Disagree2

22 Dec 2012 16:17:33
I didn't think he was motm and was surprised when he got it, he was better in the 2nd half but not really near his best form for me. Arts, Jack or Verm for me were our motm.

Stoner

Agree6 Disagree1

You say he ran in the corner ox was skinning beuasjour every time, when ox went off we came under pressure because we had no outlet that being Ramsey came on and worked really hard helping out defensively.
Also what's the point in the ox crossing the ball in the box. Theo didn't compete for any headers!
Gooner 84

Agree1 Disagree1

Beuasjour was constantly attacking down our left as Ox left him to go forward! Seriously guys, the Ox will be a great player in the future but he has to learn his job, he is young so will be fine but is not our 'instant' solution on the wing.

And by the way if you cross the ball in to the middle it does'nt always have to be for a header, remember we have the ground as well!

Agree1 Disagree1

22 Dec 2012 14:45:13
I would have liked a more emphatic win, wigan prevented us from having too many chances, largely through nullifying cazorla.
But we held on to win with a couple of shakey moments, in the past we may have conceded.

We had to fight for that today...a win is the most important thing.

watched the game, good to win ugly three points all that matters, the boys dug in

One point though, why when we are under pressure playing on the counter take of our outlet in chambo who made them scared to push up and could have helped kill the game with a second, still 3 more points and 3 wins in a row in the league, need to kick on now and beat newcastle next week

Look forward to a hopefully big january.... and why wasnt giroud on the bench atleast today, i like the lad hope he was injured if not I feel sorry for him.

They seemed to want to take it a tad bit too cautiously because i guess Wenger decided it wasn't worth bringing an attacking minded player into a tired team to score the killer when we obviously lacked the finesse today. credit to Wigan, they gave our players absolutely no breathing room.

Wenger's done this at Villa too on a soggy pitch which wasn't helping our cause. don't really understand the lack of heat in attack but i don't understand advanced calculus either so i won't complain much.

i'm actually worried how little an impact on the far left Podolski has when you look at the effort put in by The Ox. he stays in far too tight for my liking.

they lacked the bite, they played on the back foot, they scrapped for a goal, they parked the bus and soaked in the pressure.

they won ugly but THEY WON, GODDAMNIT!

i'll take those three points for Christmas, thank you.

Come on boys. Let's start a winning streak. Another positive performance, with plenty of chances created and finished. Will be interesting to see where Walcott plays. Let's be honest, if you want to tept a player that you want them to sign a new contract. Then surely you'll play him in the position that he wants, but on one condition. That Wenger has Believe that Walcott can be the main man playing up front. I've made it clear in some of my previous posts that I think Walcotts gone, but maybe we're holding off until we can get some of the driftwood of our bank balance sheets. January is going to be interesting for our club. By the end of the window we'll all have an opinion on where we see our club going in the next few years. Time to pull a few rabbits out of a few hats. Hope Wenger has still got it. All I want is to have serious competition in all areas involving quality players, but as for today,Walcott aside. Let's just get the three points. I've got too many bad memories given to me by Wigan.
Anyway. UP THE GOONERS. Flybo

Merry Christmas to you and yours. To all the regulars ( you know who you are) and the not so regulars.

United are looking at him as a Scholes replacement.

Agree0 Disagree1

He is the kind of player who's a pain to manage. Talented but a pain in the ass. He hasn't done much for Inter since winning the CL. Fought with the NL managers, Inter managers at every given chance. Not worth the trouble, he's 28 too and that doesn't help the cause.

Interesting articles on giroud on opta.

33% of passes are backwards.
56% aerial Duals won.
Very few successful dribbles.

I think he works in a 2 striker system.

more great news re contract extensions. djourou, gervinho, squillaci, santos and chamackh are committing to arsenal for the rest of their playing days. although out of favour 6 months ago, bendtner has shown promise on the injury table so will get a new contract and squad number of 82. mannone has rejected chance of returning to italy and signed a new deal with arsenal, as he is weeks away from becoming elligible for england, and he will be england no1 soon. theo sold to man utd for £3.75m, and loaned to arsenal for remainder of season, but only allowed to play on wing. arsenal marquee signing will be taking advantage of the financial uncertainty at his club, the immovable force that is emile heskey

if carlsberg did january transfer window nightmares...

Nick,

These transfer saga's with Arsenal have been like a stuck record, all the same things said and all with an end result of our best players leaving.

Things are supposed to be turning the corner, it really is a time to show us.

Last season Chelsea beat Bayern Munich, when they couldn't even finish in the top 4.

Anything is possible in football.
Just depends on a LOT of factors.

How much the 11 men on the field want it.
How psyched the managers get the players.
How supportive the fans are.
Wether the pitch suits a style of play.
Oh, and luck.
Sometimes a lot, sometimes just that little bit.

Never say never in football.
