A friend sent me this to 'console' me today morning:

Welcome to the Europa League, Arsenal FC
Here are a few things you might want to know about the Europa. They will come handy.
1. There is no match preview in the Europa League until you reach the semi finals. So make sure you only tune in to your game at the dot of
kick-off.
2. Kick-off times in the Europa are awkward.
Sometimes the match will kick-off at 17:20 pm if you're playing against Metallist Kharkiv in Ukraine
sometimes the match will kick-off at 20:09 pm.
So wives, if your husbands are asking for a
remote at 19:17 pm on a Thursday, it's a Europa match.
3. Gent FC and Genk FC are two different teams.
4. There's no half time review in the Europa League. At halftime do some press ups, i've noticed your belly or
if you're lucky you'll switch to Channel 252 and you'll find some archery.
5. At the end of the match, if you'll lucky you will be shown some highlights of other Thursday night
matches. But the highlights don't have commentary. It's like watching YouTube highlights at the office since you switch off the sound.
6. There's a football league in Liechtenstein.
Yeah, that's a country my friend.
7. Viitorul, CS U Craiiova and Nordsjaelland are real football teams in Europe.
8. One time you'll be playing in Romania on a football pitch worse than cattle fields, two days
later you're battling it out against the most expensive player in the world and the player with the highest salary .
Finally, your Fridays will no longer be the same, after sleeping very late watching drab football between your team and FC Klistiansund.

Welcome to Thursday night football!

Wow for the first time in my life I will be looking forward too work on Thursday nights. i'm not having any of that rubbish. Lol.

22 May 2017 22:18:08
Sounds like a nice change from making up the numbers on a is it a Tuesday or is it a Wednesday night? In the champions league.
You know where you are with the good old reliable Spursdaynight league, Thursday Sunday and no 12pm Saturday kick offs after a long trip to where ever, we never liked them did we :-)

22 May 2017 23:02:57
Nothing wrong with Europa League.

Embrace it like a lost puppy. Woof Woof.

22 May 2017 16:38:49
Ed I know you think wenger is staying but its not 100%, after todays news on the reduction of ticket prices, will a fa cup loss significantly hurt the chances of him staying? It will be another set of cash lost by the Kroenke, it must start to hurt his pockets?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - his pockets are very deep ibrahim, so lets not have any sympathy for him on that score mate..

22 May 2017 16:37:40
Just had the season ticket renewal through.

Face value £1014 less cup refund of £44 less £123 for failure to qualify for champions league and £250 from ticket exchange brought cost down to £597 for 19 league games and 7 European or f a cup games.

Know I hate kroenke but I love that season ticket more lol.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

22 May 2017 18:15:01
Not bad but I'd pay the £123 for CL gladly . If we don't have a good cup refund then it will be even cheaper next year pal.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 May 2017 21:36:49
You actually might be able to stretch out and have a lie down next year sano.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 May 2017 23:04:47
The way we are playing, you could get a seat in Directors Box for £3.88 and a packet of strawberry Hubba Bubba.

Agree1 Disagree0

23 May 2017 16:45:24
Nooooooooo wayyyyyyy. My bid is a half of one hubba bubble and the furry polo I just found down the side of the sofa!

On a positive note I've just been allocated my FA cup final ticket. Wembley, Wembley I'm the famous SLB and I'm off to Wembley 😆.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

22 May 2017 16:08:46
Nice one mate, but where's mine and Sharpies! 🙄.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 May 2017 16:27:34
Nice one, I've got my seat as well with big arms and a beer waitress. well actually the beer waitress has big arms as well.

Agree1 Disagree0

22 May 2017 16:29:38
Mate I can put FaceTime on for you if you like then you can be with me in spirit 👍🏻.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 May 2017 18:01:06
Ahh thanks mate, not many people would do that. 😂😂😂.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 May 2017 18:57:38
You can keep your spirit and just give me the ticket instead. I like beer more any way.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 May 2017 20:51:53
On a serious note, apparently it isn't as difficult as you would expect to get a cup final ticket. A lot of season ticket holders haven't taken up their ticket offer and apparently is was the same in the semi final. A lot of people who aren't season ticket holder will be offered one, more than you would expect. Strange.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 May 2017 08:55:06
Well we were declined on the first offer with our three tickets then got invited to re apply and got three.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 May 2017 12:05:26
Did you hear that Stoner? He bought THREE tickets! Sounds like we're going to the game after all. You're a star SLB!

Agree0 Disagree0

23 May 2017 12:22:47
Haha sharpie. It's for me and the two fellas I go with. If ever one of us can't make it and there's a ticket up for grabs il post invoice here and let you know.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 May 2017 12:23:00
Post on here not invoice lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 May 2017 14:25:59
So apparently Lacazette has agreed to join Atletico. Do we have a back up plan? Maybe deportivo has another striker they can sell us.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - There is no need for a backup plan - he was always going to agree a move elsewhere. That has been made clear.}

22 May 2017 13:37:07
So kroenke has come out and said that he will not sell arsenal no matter the price offerred. I don't really get it. What are his motivations? It is not like he turns up to watch us every game. He does not seem much interested. He didn't even turn up yesterday. If he is not selling, i think he needs to come out and state his vision for the club if he has any. He should state explicitly how much he is willing to invest in the team during the coming transfer window. If that does not happen, i am afraid it is going to get ugly.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - Why would he want to do any of that - why would he want to say anything at all to the idiotic fans? Why would he spend anything? The club generates a lot of money and has to use that. Hopeless and embarrassing.}

22 May 2017 14:08:14
He won't sell on the first offer or not eventhe second or third, eespecially to someone he's blanked out as if he doesn't exist at arsenal, probably like his lack of interest in what the fans think.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 May 2017 15:57:10
Ed I've always appreciated your input! Sorry if I've misunderstood you but you make it sound like he should just say nothing and have no communication with the fans. Not all of us are idiotic and love this club and it means a lot to us to know what our biggest shareholders ambitions are. Personally I'd prefer a bit of communication from him. Not 100% sure but all has come out with is he doesn't want to sell his shares. Surely we're owed an explanation why our managers future has been so unclear and a mystery. And some sort of vision of his ambition for the club. Not just try for a few transfer targets let some slip away with anyone's guess why. Then attempt win the league mess up aim for 4th and repeat. I appreciate we'd never get told everything but it always seems so discreet. Just my opinion I appreciate some may think it's nonsense.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Why should he have any communication with the fans? Do you often hear owners addressing the fans? Glazers? Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan? Mr Abramovic? Maxim Demin? Chinese Government?}

22 May 2017 17:37:20
Absolutely Ed, why do the fans think Kronke would sell when he has no need to. The club has been a fabulous investment and I sure he intends keeping it long term.

Agree1 Disagree0

22 May 2017 17:48:04
That's very true ed. I think I just want some more understanding with what's going on. There seems to be so much embarrassment coming from many levels of the club. Maybe my expectations of what Stan should be doing is wrong. Cheers for replying ed.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - The issue is that the fans have whipped themself in to a frenzy over Wenger. He had the offer of an extension last summer but was also close to walking out because of another matter - in the end he stayed to see out his contract. Whether there will be another year available to him I do not know. The board has become frustrated and has, through third parties, spoken with three other potential managers and have investigated the potential of getting a "Director of Football" in. Right now that is all unresolved but should become clearer at the end of the month - perhaps a little later. The fans think they are owed something here - but I sure as hell don't know what it is - and I very much doubt the club will want to say more than is necessary to what has become a toxic fan base (Wenger out, irrational attacks on the owners etc.).}

22 May 2017 20:52:01
his son has told him to consider the sale. do not under estimate the fans. different here than in america. we will be gone trust your boy derbygooner people. bony first signing :)

Agree0 Disagree0

23 May 2017 10:22:10
Thank you for the reply ed. sadly it seems the toxic fan is getting more and more common. Don't get me wrong I do think a fresh start might benefit us. But In a respectful way. Some of the treatment our manager/ board have received is ridiculous.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 May 2017 11:55:59
When asked about lengths of management yesterday Conte replied in Italy the average is 3-4 years then its normally thank you and goodbye

A BIT OF LIGHT BANTER.
Haven't you all noticed that it seems that all the people that could solve all the Worlds problems seem to be driving a black cab when you use one.
Mmmmm! Maybe we've all been overlooking something when we post on here. Maybe Arsenal have missed a trick!
😂 LOL.

I find the people who drives blue Subaru's solves the worlds problems, pubs open 24/ 7,drugs legalized, no taxes and for arsene Wenger to get that contract signed for another 10years.

22 May 2017 06:50:05
I wouldn't want to be in Wengers boots next season if the results are not up to scratch.
This must be the most difficult time for him to make a descision on leaving or staying.
If he leaves it's seen that he's left us in a mess and if he's stays and we don't march on to success next season it's another failure.
He's got some major thinking to do.
Does he take a chance and stay or does he step down with the excuse that it's been a fabulous ride but it's time to freshen things up? .

Believable1 Unbelievable0

22 May 2017 06:59:03
I wouldn't want to be in wengers boots full stop. He's on a hiding to nothing.

Agree1 Disagree0

22 May 2017 08:43:19
I agree Sanogo, if he accepts help and things improve he will get no credit and it will all be down to someone else plus people will say it's proof that his stubbornness and refusal to listen to others lead to us being non competitive.
On the other hand if things don't improve and we remain also rans in the title race next it will continue to be 100% Arsene fault.
It's definitely time to walk away and anyone close to him who really cares about him should be working overtime to make Arsene see what's best for him and Arsenal.
As much as I'm very firmly Arsene out and get frustrated by all the crazy excuses he comes out with for himself I still feel compassion for him.
Its such a shame that a man who gave this club so much has been allowed to go on far too long for his own sake as much as ours.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - im with you G62..

22 May 2017 11:02:29
Agree boys. He stays then no top 4 again i'm sure of it.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 May 2017 11:56:52
Wenger staying is doomsday ( forget arseday ) for this club and its fans. The truth is we are dropping off the race for fourth because the teams above us and some below are more streetwise, thanks to their coaching and influence.

Agree1 Disagree0

22 May 2017 09:10:28
Can't help but think looking Arsene that what happened to Ranieri might have worked out well for him after all Ed025 mate, he will always be seen as a very hard done by hero not just by Leicester fans but by football fans all over the world but if he'd stayed and Leicester had been relegated and then struggled in the championship he could well have found himself in the same position as Arsene is now.
Ranieri seems like a lovely man so I'm actually quite relieved for him in a way.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - very fair point that G62 mate..

22 May 2017 06:32:28
Extremely interesting couple of weeks coming up. A cup final that can rescue our season, if we somehow manage a win. The history books show the trophies a team has won and not missing out on the PL trophy by finishing 2nd, 3rd or 4th. In addition, the situation in respect of Wenger. My gut feeling is that he will depart. The fans have turned against him and I believe he has lost some members of the board, which will prompt him to go. If this happens, a change of manager may open the purse strings, as Gazidis has been encouraging Wenger to spend, alas to no avail. Interesting times ahead.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - he has defo lost two members of the board, who voted against allowing him to carry on.}

22 May 2017 07:42:24
So Ed what's this other reason he's alluding to as contributing to the bad run of form?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I have not seen or heard the interview in full yet (or read a transcript of it) to know what you mean, sorry. I know he feels the protests are a problem. Funny how he admitted the uncertainty surrounding his contract contributed, when he could have solved that issue at any time he chose! Oh and of course he always likes to moan about injuries.}

22 May 2017 09:59:48
It's where he said:

"I believe since January we have played in a very difficult environment for different reasons. "Some you know about and that's very difficult for a group of players to cope with that - and some other reasons we will talk about on another day. "

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - ah right I did see that bit, but I wasn't sure what he had talked about to know what he meant by it. I was assuming he was alluding to the takeover bids by Usmanov and other interest initially though.}

22 May 2017 10:21:24
I wonder if Wenger wants to extend his deal for two year as reported, but the board have made this conditional upon a Director of Football being installed, against Wenger's wishes. I believe the post FA Cup board meeting will be held to thrash out a deal between Wenger and the board? If Wenger were to win the FA Cup, he will be able to negoatiate from a stronger position than if we are defeated.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - should never have been left to fester like this though.}

22 May 2017 11:04:02
We had alexis fit liverpool had mane out. Big factor in us getting close I feel.
Everything is about excuses he just can't admit it in his world he's always right.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 May 2017 11:26:40
I totally agree with you ed. Though, for me at least, the lack of direction from the AFC board is not unique to this season alone and has been like this for some time. Wenger should have had his hand forced a long time ago and the lack of pro activity from the senior management within the club is lamentable to say the least.

I'm not at all surprised to hear that Wenger has lost part of the boards backing. With the bid from Usmanov coming in, it seems that there maybe a power struggle surfacing behind closed doors. If this is the case, then I just cannot see any respectable manager coming in to replace Wenger (if he decides to leave) under these circumstances.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Usmanov has always been one of Wenger's strongest backers.}

22 May 2017 12:32:07
the usmanov wenger loving is just PR. got henry on his side and dein. smart guy.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 May 2017 13:17:13
Oddly enough Derby, I'm in the financial PR business. and, from my experience, no one makes a bid of that magnitude unless,

a. you already know that there is availability.
b. you want to expedite the availability by way of further destabilizing a fractured environment. (KSE UK have just released a statement saying that their shares are not and have never been for sale would normally stem this but this is football and the fans are fed up so could go either way)

Obviously, this is all conjecture but Wenger's silence regarding his future may well have been born from prior knowledge of a bid/ takeover from Usmanov who, as Ed quite rightly points out, is a massive fan of his.

Ultimately, what has transpired this season has been on the cards for many years. I am personally not too optimistic for the future even if Wenger leaves. I just feel that the club is rotting from within. The lack of ambition and direction from the board will ultimately restrict the potential to attract a manager who is a winner. its going to be a long summer.
