R. G. I'm cruising in the Subaru in my Hugo boss shell suit and my curly hair and moustache in prime condition heading for Stringfellows with the beetles on full blast on the sound system after another emphatic win over Liverpool to put us joint second. We look in total pain at the moment after bossing Madrid in midweek and making Liverpool look poor beep.

Raver, when you say joint second, you mean third mate.

If you say bossing Madrid was this after you went high? good one for you today though. I do agree it was a commanding performance.

Raver61 - and the trophy you are celebrating for being 3rd is? 8 year old Gordon Strachan with a carrot under under his elongated hooter, in the back of his mummies rusty Subaru in the parking pace in front of their Edmonton 1 bed council flat. The pain at the lane just goes on, 196, yes 1961 for trophyless toot.

As per usual you and Harry have got over your slow start to a new season Raver Wembley or no Wembley, you seen to always come out of the blocks slowly but once you hit your stride you take some knocking out of it mate.
I thought before a ball was kicked you would run this season's champions even closer this season than the last two seasons, long way to go but united although far from out of it seem to be finding the current pace a little to quick for them and I can see you being the side to push City during the closing weeks of this season as you did Leicester and Chelsea in the previous 2 season's.
You are getting better and better wether we like it or not mate.

This is insane. It's a simple fact as much as it kills me that spurs are a really good team. The thing is that this period of prosperity is goona show for nothing (hopefully) city are going to boss the league and spurs will win nothing and sell their best players. That's what I'm hanging on to any how.

Agree6 Disagree4

22 Oct 2017 22:37:23
Sano, spuds are a breath of fresh air but they will huff and puff like they have done the past two or three seasons and not blow the house down. Along will come the wolf and take all their piggies away. They will not win the league this or any year. But they will make more of a fist of it than us, for now.

Seen it all before at the toot, a false dawn. Redknapp was the messiah and the Toot reached the CL QF, they were going to win the league and had a great squad of players. The result was Harry being the best manager was going to manage England and it all evaporated. The best players, Modric and Bale ended up at Real and the club was plunged back into mediocrity.

With Real and other clubs sniffing around their better players, how long can they hold out before the reality of having to sell players that are receiving as much as half the wages they could earn and no trophies? Walker has already moved to City where he could win his first trophy and is paid proper wages. Else wants to move on t win things, just like Sol Campbell. Alderweirald is very upset wth the lack of a new deal and is on Ā£55,000 a week.

Put simply the Toot's chances of actually winning a trophy a remote, another Leicester is even less likely to happen. As raver61 well knows, the pain is going to continue, hence celebrating 1-1 draws and a home win like they gave actually won a trophy. It makes the pain of. The Toot's failure even more delicious.

I used to talk his way about City, we even had a banner at OT counting the years since they won a trophy and we had a great song to an Inspiral Carpets tune. I know they had huge cash injected but thing change. I watch Spurs and City now and they look scary. It could just be a purple patch but Spurs have improved year after year, if they continue then they are serious contenders this year.

It will be nice for reality to dawn on the toots, most of which give us a hard time for not winning the league recently, when they also realise they are in a competition that is not on a level playing field. When you have a couple of teams with an unlimited budget, who for example already have a glut of fantastic players, but who could also sign Sanchez (and others) in January (to play or just stop them going to a rival! ) then they too will realise that despite having their best team in over 40 years, it still might not be enough to challenge the virtually unlimited spending power of Man City etc.

R. G. you would love to get a draw at the bernabeu instead of being embarrassed by Bayern Munich. We had Liverpool chasing shadows all afternoon and just remember they absolutely smashed you to bits this season. Sorry R. G. but spurs are taking over a fantastic squad bossing their champions league group, a fantastic manager with a top stadium on its way. Lee Dixon was asked on tv this week have spurs gone past Arsenal and he Said yes so jog on Thursday nights and below spurs is here to stay.

Arsenal football club 2017,
This once prod club seems totally devoid of all personal ambition and is totally reduced to hoping Spurs fail.
We hope that Real will nick Harry in the hope of Spurs join us in the also ran department after he leaves so we can both fight it out for 5th place ha ha that will show the spuds

We hope City or at a push even Utd will do what we ourselves have given up all hope of being capable of doing finishing above Spurs in the foreseeable future.
What ever happened to us that we are so deviod of all personal ambition we are reduced to hoping Tottenham fail somehow?
Time for change? Something needs to that's for sure.
I hope Spurs keep Harry and are even better next season than they are this finishing 2nd on the highest ever runners up points total for a premier league season just 1pt behind champions Arsenal.

I don't want Spurs to come down to our level perfect mate i want exceed their level.
A strong spurs is good for Arsenal because we can no longer sit back with our 4th place and above Spurs security blanket that has kept us all nice and cosy for over a decade.

Spurs are North Londons top team right now and anyone who is not happy about it I'm half on way on your sife, if anyone also sees us getting our finger our and showing some real fight and ambition as the way forward then I'm 100% with you but for those who's ambitions lay firmly with Real Madrid City United riding to our rescue by nicking Spurs best players and getting our nice little cosy security blanket back off Spurs for us then I'm sorry we are on complelty different pages.

A very strong Spurs and even Stronger Arsenal would do me every day of the week.

Agree1 Disagree1

23 Oct 2017 19:57:17
62 are you off your trolley, Spurs currently have a lot of things we had after the invincibles, a good team etc.

Unfortunately those with more money liked lots of our team and off they went. Do you think that Madrid are not going to come calling for a player or players they like.

If at the end of the season Bayern Munich decide Pochettino is the man to succeed Ancelotti, do you think heā€™ll stay at Spurs.

Spurs are not even earning close to what we do, they do not pay big wages or big transfer fees.

Itā€™s a matter of football life that if, as is highly likely, they win naff all this year, the team will get picked apart.

You donā€™t constantly have to equate stuff to our failings as thatā€™s what happens when you are 2nd tier. Bale and Modric left as will there other big players.

They are not suddenly going to turn into a Barca, Madrid, United or Bayern mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Oct 2017 20:12:28
Until they actually win something, they flatter to decieve and fail to go through. Competative but that's all until they can win something and that's being realistic. Even i don't agree with lee dixon, they have to be seen to achieve first and then do it again.

Lads dropping out of the champions league and finishing behind Spurs did nothing to bring out the ambition at Arsenal that I like many hoped it would, the club and most fans were just happy to call it a fluke season and carry on as always.
Well this season things look like they have simply carried on where they left off last season with Spurs continuing to improve and Arsenal more stationary than WH Smith's.
I don't particularly care if Spurs win the league or get relegated in survive seasons all the way to the conference south but I do care that Arsenal once again start showing the ambition to be the be best team in the premier league again and if that takes Spurs getting better and better to shame some ambition out of us then hey ho thars what it takes.
The total lack of ambition at Arsenal is slowly but surely taking away interest in and passion for the club little by little and whatever it takes to stop that short term will pay huge dividends long term.

Spot on stoner. It's completely wet knickers stuff. I'm Actually surprised they have managed to keep the squad together and add players as well, to that much credit to them but the fact of the matter is simple they have won nothing and I'd wager that they will not win anything but impress all and get picked apart in the summer. Now this is just reality of where there at. Moving forward but I think they will have nothing to show for it .

You are right of course Sanogo mate but when I look at Spurs and the buzz there is around them right it makes me realize how much I miss being involved in title races and the excitement of not the next game not coming soon enough.
With everything being so flat at Arsenal for so long now with no sign of anything changing anytime soon it's even more difficult to accept the groundhog at Arsenal when you when you look at how far Spurs have come in such a short space of time under Poch.
Personally I don't begrudge Spurs fans their time in the lime light as they have been in the shade for a very long time but I do wish we were up there with them regards hunger ambition attitude appite for success.
They may not win the league but they really want to.

I like Koeman a lot and I'm not sure why it's all gone so badly wrong this season for him and Everton but it does seem the club has little alternative but to do something quickly after today.
We did well today but we are a very long way from our best which from an Everton point of view only makes things more shocking.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Oct 2017 19:42:14
If Koeman does go then Sean Dyche looks an ideal fit for Everton to me.
He's been linked with Leicester but with all due respect Burnley Leicester? Is there that much of a difference in the clubs to gamble what he has built up with the fans the board the players?
Everton are a huge club with huge potential and surely a more appealing opportunity to consider.
Plus a not a million miles away from his current location.

22 Oct 2017 20:03:20
It's an odd one, but I think they bought badly in the summer. When you lose your main goal scorer and don't replace him then you are asking for trouble and they lack pace and energy. Rooney is a United legend but he is well past his sell by date, he hardly got a game last year and Sigurdson is not a game changer, ridiculous fee.

Well, Di Maria is probably the best example although Lindelof is running him close. It's amazing how players look like a good buy but turn out to be pants. Depay looked a great buy but was awful, he had his head in his arse to be honest and still does. Buying well is an art form and even SAF got it wrong sometimes (Kleberson, Bell, Djemba Djemba, to name a few) . We have cash but sometimes spend iit very very badly, but then so do you.

Poor poor everton side at the moment but we did a job. Sanchez my man of the match but we just don't play to Lacazettes strength. He looks a player but we don't utilise him properly and why has he still not finished a game, i don't get it.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

22 Oct 2017 17:27:49
So many times he looks the player to play in having made the great run and the player in possession doesnā€™t play the ball and itā€™s normally Ramsey.

Iā€™ve no idea the thought process in bringing him off. Beggars belief.

22 Oct 2017 17:38:23

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Oct 2017 17:52:51
To be fair, when Laca came off, we were 1-3 up, it's fairly normal to take a striker off and shore up the midfield or defence.

Xhaka once again. the most annoying thing is not that he lose the ball, but that he don't get up and fight.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

22 Oct 2017 15:35:17
It would do Arsenal and Xhaka a lot more good than harm for Arsene not to pick him again this side of December.
The lad needs to know what he's giving isn't good enough and see how he responds when his chance comes again at some point in the season.
It's sulky just to keep pretending he's good enough because the pundits and fans won't go along with it and thus will only make both Arsene and Xhaka. the centre of attention for the wrong reasons.
Do the right thing for the player the manager and most importantly the team and take him out of the situation for a bit.

Agree2 Disagree0

23 Oct 2017 13:55:28
I think that's harsh G62. Bench him after he watched Cleverly stroke the ball in unmarked yes, but not after the "mistake" yesterday. That was as much Mets fault as his, very poor pass, and after that Xhaka had a very good game. If anyone deserves to be benched for a while its Cech. If we want a sweeper keeper, then Cech comes last in the list of premiership keepers. However i do believe the trouble will always be that playing Xhaka and Ramsey as our two central midfielders will always cost us games, as neither have a defensive bone in their body. We either need a CD (from the 3) who steps up when we have the ball to make a 3rd DM or we need to go back to 4 at the back which would allow us to play a dedicated DM behind Ramsey and Xhaka, allowing Ramsey to play more attacking and for Xhaka to concentrate on his distribution (Kongogbia would be my choice, playing brilliantly for Valencia) .

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Oct 2017 11:59:33
Not sure what to expect today but i really hope xhaka elneny and ozil are benched. We need fighters not shirkers. I also think with xhaka and elneny our football is slow and negative, with big holes in midfield when we don't have possession. I don't think it will be easy this afternoon, even though everton are struggling. A big game for both in terms of managers.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed025's Note - certainly for ours steve..

22 Oct 2017 14:21:04
Elneny is a player who does nothing at all, doesn't defend particularly well and does not offer anything going forward. A nothing player really, not good enough for the prem.

Agree1 Disagree2

22 Oct 2017 14:30:23
After last week's disappointing result at Watford we desperately need a win today. Against a sluggish Everton side we need pace and movement.
As far as the DM positions are concerned we need to return to the type of players that were played in our trophy winning era, the likes of Vieira, Petit and Gilberto come to mind.

All were tall, athletic technical player, which we lack in our current DM options. At present we have Elneney, a headles chicken, Xhaka who used to put his foot in and clearly Wenger has coached this out of him and he looks poorer for it. Yes, he got sent off occasionally, but so did Vieira, Keane, etc. Coquelin looks a squad player at best. Not that it will happen as he played mid-week, I would have played Wilshere next to Xhaka and told Xhaka to protect the back four and get stuck in.

Agree0 Disagree1

22 Oct 2017 14:54:13
Thing is xhaka to be blunt is a rubbish tackler. Hence the sending offs. You just canā€™t get away with mistimed tackles now.

Agree0 Disagree1

22 Oct 2017 16:54:11
Wow! Tell xhaka to protect the back four. First we are playing three, second the last person i would ask to protect anything would be xhaka. Why can't some people see he is not up to it. Should not be in the team.

Agree2 Disagree0

23 Oct 2017 00:34:20
XHaka is great when facing the opponents goal, however he cannot play with his back to goal as he lacks so much awareness of players behind him. If anything we should just be telling the cbs not to play passes into him.
