Done well so far so i'm well pleased. But! November and early December are going to be quite tough for us. If we get through that ok I believe we will do well this season . I'm not too concerned about the CL as I don't really think we should waste out efforts in that at the moment but I believe on the domestic front we may have a squeak .

Believable0 Unbelievable0

For me it's PL top 2 that I would be very very happy about, top one? Well I would be a bit more than happy if we did that. The PL position is the best indicator of how good you are and how far you've come over a season. The CL for this season will be a good distraction from the league and a last 8 would be excellent coupled with top 2 PL. As for the cups hey one of them would be nice as well but its where we finish in the league that matters most for the future

Greetings and Salutations my fellow Gooners,

Pessimism, skepticism and frustrations have seemingly been replaced by optimism, joy and excitement.

Vindication is a word often used to describe a victors moment after periods of great adversity, some including myself will pronounce that the end of last season and the beginning of this have vindicated our belief in our clubs vision, the mantra in which we've handled our development and the belief that we can once again be a force in football.

Allow me to begin by saying that all credit to this transformation must begin with the manager. Arsene Wenger has been the face of our club for almost two decades. He walks the walk each day, he's been at the pinnacle, he's walked the low's, he's heard the criticism and he's been brave to accept the challenge of this and all that comes with his position.

The rumours of Higuain followed by Suarez and the ultimate signing of Ozil I believe has shown our intent.

The development of the club takes patience. Many were willing to give up on Ramsey, Giroud, Kos, and others because of our need for instant gratification. 8 years to those outside the working walls of the club seemed like an eternity. I only imagine how it felt within the club.

Yet we stayed strong to our principles. A belief and model of self sustenance and development. Growth of our youth and now the inclusion of world class players.

The model of any successful club, business and/or entity is to find ways to be unique amongst the competition. This is what truly makes Arsenal great.
How hard is it to spend money without discrimination? City, Chelsea, PSG and Monaco have shown us the potential, but I will always believe their success is not due to the efforts of the club but they are the benefactors of a wealthy owner.

Now some might say we too have wealthy owners and that we should have taken this approach however I would agree to disagree. Our approach takes development, and an understanding of refined business sporting practices. A belief of living within our means.

Today we saw just what self sustenance and belief enables us to do. It allows us to develop the youth into stars (Ramsey, Wilshire and Gibbs), it provides opportunity for a second chance (Merts, Sagna and Giroud all of which as recently as 2013 were not considered good enough) and gives us a glimpse into the future (Gnabry, Ryo and others). This is why Arsene Wenger is the greatest manager in sports!

Its easy to conform in life, but it takes true vision to be a leader and distinguish ones self. Arsene is a true visionary and we should be proud to embrace his impact. I encourage all to read the article in the Guardian of Bergkamp and his thoughts on Arsene.

I am proud that the club did what was necessary and bought Ozil. There is a renewed optimism in the club, and I look forward to seeing Arsene man the sidelines for many more years to come!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ah so that's what happens to Joey from bread, he went on to be a Guardian reader. (Just joking) you make some good points mate (I think ) but very heavy going that lot. But if your saying that Arsene's coming good after we all thought he had lost it then fair play

Gunners4life,

It's been an achievement that Arsene can genuinely be proud of, he has stood up and been counted over these last 8 years and I for one regret that I got so frustrated last year that I at one point stated the best signing we could make was Klopp.

I'm sure that no other manager could have kept us within the grasp of everything, I know without actual success, but to hang in there as we have done really is an achievement.

We have a stadium, a manager and a team to be proud of, I am not carried away with being top of the table in September, that counts for nothing, we have yet to win anything and still remain with no guarantees, but what a corner to have turned.

We have a great if not somewhat thin squad who will continue to get better, I'm still conscious of the fact that the end of last season's form and the beginning of this has only involved playing Utd and the Spuds, we have hard games ahead, not least Swansea on Saturday but we are now able to add to our squad with quality.

That is the single most important thing, don't stand still with the signing of Ozil, add to him in January if possible, even if it's one single quality player. We may find ourselves still fighting on a number of fronts. What we have is what we have as far as the Champions League goes but if we're still in with a shout for the league then get us some more quality Arsene.

It's going to be a tough but enjoyable season.

Malaga

You normally talk sense but your excitement is a little premature after only 5 games.

Since you last won a trophy, United have won 5 League titles and a Champions League. Ozil may turn out to be your Cantona but the time to gloat is not 5 games in. Enjoy it while you can mate, I'm not convinced in will last

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He never said we would win the prem in his last post. He just said he was buzzing and united got spanked. And both are true.

We will all enjoy it while it lasts, hopefully for another 35 league games.

And also, you not being convinced it will last doesn't mean it will or won't. time will tell, at the moment we are the best team in England, you are the 8th best, and the end of the season that might have changed, but history means nothing.

Agree0 Disagree0

I said it last year to the almighty Chris Redman and if i'm not mistaken you AJH. its only a matter of time. luck can't go on forever.

its nice that your arrogance of 5 titles and a champions league backs it up. I didn't know the league or champions league ended last season. and football stats have now ceased to exist. because utd say so.

also we don't get whopped by our fiercest rivals, 6-1 and 4-1 and so on, having the best squad or a squad which competes at that level you speak of. well done for the ignorance. ill give you guys that.

moyesout? fergie to take over mid season? will be an interesting one.

Akie

He's been all over the United page all day. United were shocking today and we all know we have some things to fix but as usual malaga let's his emotions get the better of him.

United are in transition and completely cocked up the window, Chelsea look average and my desperate need of a striker, City can play well as we saw yesterday but have not convinced so far. Arsenal look good so far but have yet to have a serious challenge, as have Spurs. I think it will be very close this year but 1 game does not define a season for any of us

Excellent result, not the best football but this current Stoke side are far better than they were a few years ago. We grinded out that win without ever been under considerable pressure.
Defence is solid again, midfield cohesive and strong, Giroud a fulcrum for the team.
Gnabry did ok, Wilshire still way off the pace, the bench starting to look powerful again.
Looking forward to the Capital One game on Wednesday night, last year I would be very afraid.

heres a tricky poser for all you fellow gooners.
defoe scored twice during the week but wasnt even in spurs 18 man squad today. personally I would love him at the emirates alongside giroud or as back up. he may not be everybodys cup of tea but he is a very good striker who, with a bit of confidence knows where the net is. who agrees/disagrees?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Would be happy to have him as think he is miles underated and used, but would they sell to us?

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought we should have gone for him in the transfer window.

Agree0 Disagree0

Gunner62, prob not mate but I think he would love to come to arsenal

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd welcome him. He would be a good option. Always professional and clinical coming off the bench. Wants to score. What more would you want? Especially if he scored for us on derby day -:)

again, not a great performance but a valuable 3 points against a semi decent team. as they say " good teams win when they don't play well". great to have arteta back, ozil is slowly finding his feet but still had 3 assists and ramsey bloody scored again. amazing, 3 goals last season and now 7 already, top boy ramsey but you should have passed to ryo in the last minute instead of shooting. overall, well happy.

I'm a big Ramsey fan - but he does frustrate me a lot. He does so much good work but keeps playing really lazy/arrogant passes at times.
If we play as slowly and lazily and give the ball away as much against top 6 teams we will lose games - Stoke could easily have taken a point today.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Aint watched the game, but by the sounds of it we didn't play well.

We can't play well every game, just be thankful we played bad and still won the game.

I think we could have played a bit better towards the end in terms of possessing the ball but I can't complain too much though because we got the WIN! I hate playing Stoke. They play the worst football in the league and aim to hurt their opposition.

All in all, well done today boys. Fantastic result.

Constructive critism:
-Ozil needs to get stronger (great assists by Ozil though. He showed his ability to be the defender down the line today)
-Ryo needs to get stronger too. As for his play, I don't think he's there yet. I say couple more years and he'll be much more dangerous
-Backline needs to be tighter when we're being countered on
-When we're being pressed high, we need to move the ball quicker

Giroud had an aerial presence today and good link-up play. Powerful shots
If it wasn't for Szcz's superb handling today, we could have gotten scored on twice more. Other than an iffy pass down the middle of the park, I think his performance today was superb
Gnabry surprised me. On such late notice, I didn't think he would step up to the plate, but he did. He was confident and looked strong. Good link-up play. Great work ethic by tracking back and defending unlike Walcott who gives minimal effort to defend

Let's go for 8-0 on Wednesday:)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

AH mate I was buzzing when I heard Gnabry had played - he's on a really hot streak at the moment, 4 goals in 3 games or something like that. I honestly don't think it'll be long before he's pushing for a spot, as in, by the end of the season I expect him to be. I think this is Theo's last season as a definite starter. The Ox challenges him, and always plays like a beaut out wide for example when he played instead of Podolski recently he was awesome, an assist in the first 5 mins. He can play either side equally well, probably better left as he gets more shots off. Imagine in a year or two when he and Gnabry are simultaneously peaking, there's no way Theo will be getting a look in.

Put your head down and go to work boys

It's all yours now

This team knows how to grind results. Other years, we are sitting here moaning a 1-3 loss at home. This team has a spine, and his name is Per Mertesacker.

He, Flamini and Arteta will be the key to us winning anything.

Today we looked like league leaders. Played average, won 3-1. That's what big teams do

Bring it on

Coyfg!

"played average, won 3 - 1 that's what big teams do " I couldn't agree more with that statement us gooner, more of this sort this year and we won't be stopped :)

The losing team have most possession but concede 3 from set pieces, the trouble with Arsenal is they don't know how to win ugly, THIS ARSENAL DOES! There's times to pass the the other team off the park and play the beautiful football only we play and are the only team capable of playing in this country, but now and again after a busy schedule you have to options to that plan, it now seems we do have. Well done lads and Arsene another good win and yet another bit of me is starting to think WE ARE going to be right in the mix come April May

Good result, top of the league. Boys started to look tired half way through second half but only to be expected. There looks to be a steeliness about our defence this year( maybe flamini was the missing piece) and we are grinding out results.
On another note van pursie starting to get injured. He hasn't looked interested this year

Hi Guys,
I'm a hibs supporter, who? ha . I have a gunners mate living up here in edinburgh and would like to surprise him by taking him to the emirates for a game in november, hopefully the southampton match. What would be the best . and cheapest way to get tickets for this match? had a look on the arsenal website but it only mentions silver etc members, any ideas would be much appreciated.
Go on the gunners!

this is a huge game for us today.

we have been knocking on the door to give some 1 a hammering.

top of the league is todays motivation, it does not get bigger than this.

5-1

theo to get 3 of them

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Spot on malaga. I hope we really stuff that load of cloggers from up there. A 5-0 win would be only topped by Shawcross being sent off 2mins in for imitating a footballer :)

Agree0 Disagree0

4-0 To us, Theo to score first!

Shawcross to try and kick Ramsey and miss, but gets sent off for intent.

Agree0 Disagree0

I can see a 3-0 giroud with 2, ramsey with 1, ozil wilshere and walcott sharing the assists
