Use our rumours form to send us arsenal transfer rumours.

23 Feb 2013 21:16:03
been told by my source, that everything that has been in the press has been the whole truth, basically we'v had money to pay transfers but we couldn't give the wages hence why we weren't signing big players, but iv been informed this summer we are financially able to do what we want, and i'm told that Wenger already has his targets in mind, 'ALOT of players' most positions we will have good players signed, I say good because in my oppinion the bigger clubs with Crazy money to throw will beat us to the better ones. So Wenger will splash the cash this summer, Recent performance's hasn't given him much belief as you could see from the relief on his face when we scored today Vs Villa. Important we finish 3rd or 4th first and get that extra money into the club to compete.

So in conclusion, we now have the money to match high wages, and will spend this summer. GK is first on the list which will please a lot of people

Good win, shows we need a clinical finishers who creates chances for himself and only needs 1/2 chances to score. Lewandowski or LLorente would be sick. Diaby like a broken record now so many injuries its ridiculous he should retire its that bad. Monreal, Jenks, Cazorla and Wilshere looked very good whilst Giroud, Mertersacker and Arteta were quite poor tbh. Well Everton lost and City play Chelsea, Its all very open at the top, don't see why we couldn't finish 2nd and City could miss out on top 4.

Out of all the keepers in the league i'd say De Gea, Cech, Hart, Reina, Lloris, Cesar, Begovic, Krul and Mignolet are all easily better than Szczesny. Others you could argue one way or the other but the point is unless you're Barcelona and you only allow the oposition 2 shots at goal a game you need a top keeper. Shezz just ain't it.

Believable17 Unbelievable3

Shezz has be sloppy and has let in few very savable gaols of late. The killer 2nd one with Bayern, and today I felt with getting two hands to it he should be doing better and palming out wide or around for a corner at least.

I still think he has great potential but that is what it is still. He has been thrust into being number 1 at a big club too soon at his age by not having any real competition. It is basically become to easy for him to keep his place and hence why he is got too over cocky in my opinion and hence making silly errors. We need experienced keeper pushing him for a place and hence to a more focused consistent level.

Mind you on corners our silly zonal marking does not help him and makes him indescisive but it works two ways if you have a keeper you know that will catch everything in his area there nothing better for a back 4 to have that.

Agree4 Disagree1

Ben Foster for me all the way or failing that Begovic. WBA paid 4m for Foster so arsenal can double that to tempt him. Great keeper with age on his side to become the next david seaman. COYG devongooner

There is a picture entitled Carl Jenkinson celebrates Arsenal goal. In it is Arsene Wenger is in the middle, with the bench in the background. Carl is on his feet celebrating, and in front is Kos, Gerv and the Ox sitting down with faces like they've just found a lump on their testicles.
I'm f##kin fuming. No wonder we're struggling. If half the bench don't give a f##k. Seriously disappointed. Hope Jack does an Adams and pins'um up against the wall.
Happy with the points though :-)
Flybo

Believable15 Unbelievable2

I would not read too much into that most benches are like that, players in the main unless they are playing they are a bit detached from the emotion of the game. Players remember are doing a job and for many they are not pure fans first. Jenkinson you can see is actually true fan first.

Agree8 Disagree2

Really doesn't bother me as I'm certain once he crosses the white line he would give 100%. Unlike podolski yesterday.

Jenko is a massive arsenal fan which would explain why he celebrates the goal

the lack of protection for our back four from midfield is non existent and will give us major problems against better sides than villa and giroud as I've said before is no top 4 striker also why is rosicky constantly ignored thougt he looked sharp when he came on weds night and he had a big influence about this time last season. brum gooner

Diaby. please don't play again, your made of glass and more of a nuisance with your cameos once in a blue moon.

Shezza, too many silly errors, spell on the bench and real competition may change things for him

Giroud, where's your scoring boots gone, your a striker, remember?

Walcott, you have signed an extension, isn't it about time you proved your worth the ridiculous amount of money your on.

We should go get, Begovic, Capoue, Gomez, Ogbonna.

Thats just for starts, make every player who has the honour of pulling on the Arsenal Jersey realise they are fighting for the places, fighting for the club, and fighting to make us fans proud of supporting this great club!

2-1 Relief in the end more than anything else. 3 points were essential to keep that pressure on Spurs for there match on Monday.

Marks:-

Sczenzy 5 Not much to do but again I still felt he should have palmed that shot from Wiemann out wide or around the post. He got 2 hands to it so should have done better.

Jenkinson 7 Solid a better crosser than Sagna without doubt. Like with Monreal needs to be mindful that when other fullback is forward needs to hang back abit in case of counter.

Mert. 6 A better game from the german but left exposed by our lack of defensive midfield cover. Not suited to when we need to play higher line.

TV5:- 7 Much more comfortable in CB position. Just need to organise a bit better with fullbacks not to attack so much at same time.

Monreal:- 7 Solid as with Jenkinson good cut back fro 2nd goal. Miles more reliable than Santos.

Arteta:- 5 Neat and tidy as always in possesion but as with Diaby today left back 4 exposed too often. DM is not his position.

Diaby:- 5. A Little off the pace I felt. Sluggish on the ball and not aware enough in staying in a defensive position when required. Needs a run of games but niggling injuries still persist.

Wilshire:- 7 Not quite as good as he been of late but still offers that all important drive from midfield.

Cazorla:- 8 Our Man of the match today. Two well taken goals. Villa really struggled to get a grip of him. Good incisive play. More like his form of early season.

Walcott:- 6 In and out of game, some poor crosses when in good positions.

Giroud: 7 Battled hard as always but suffers sometimes from lack of support alongside him. Nearly scored a couple.

Subs

Ramsey 7:- Kept the ball moving along crisply when we mounted all the pressure in 2nd half. More in tune than Diaby

Podolski:- 6:- Not much time to get up to speed.

Kos 6:- zero time sub just to shut up shop at the end.

2 points that must be address Zonal marking get rid of it if we can't execute it go back to man for man. Defenders still need to attack the ball coming in. Still a constant weak point. Also we must get a proper defensivly minded midfield that is prepared to say deep and offer protection the often exposed back 4.

Ryan.

Happy with a much needed win today as we needed a positive comeback and the players delivered the three points today to put the pressure on spurs who have a tough game tomorrow at west ham. We need the hammers to do us favour with that one as confidence is everything coming into the derby next weekend and hopefully it will be spurs with little confidence! Now back to our game, judging from what I've read and heard we created many chances and kept on pressing to the end but our defending was of yet poor! The amount of chances that we miss is unbelievable! Giroud, podolski, theo and jack all missed great chances that we need to start taking as we wouldn't be in the fortune of having to rally late to win and on another day against teams like united or spurs they may just turn it around! Despite that we needed performances from our top players and jack and santi duly delivered which was much needed! My one great concern though is our defending! We all know we can score goals we've proved this against spurs and newcastle this season but our defence seems to be dodgy and constant error prone which leads me to the topic of does Bould have a big influence on the team! We shouldn't be making the mistakes we do with such a great centre back influencing our defence but they either don't take it on board or Bould doesn't have an influence. Hopefully it's neither and it's just errors that they can put right but these Eros keep creeping back in! God hope we don't mess up next weekend and god hope the Diaby injury isn't too serious and will be back next weekend!

Story of our season B A 1

Agree2 Disagree0

Giroud was so-so today. He provides that physical presence and battles hard as always, but I think he suffers a little in this 4-3-3 and needs support alongside him more. 4-4-2 with Walcott alongside would suit him better.

The main negative points from today was Zonal marking from set pieces we still looked dodgy and liable to conceed whenever a corner or close free kick comes in, this needs sorting out pronto. It does not matter how much you dominate a game if look like conceeding at every corner and free kick it is always going to be difficult to win games.

Also there is zero protection from midfield for the back 4. The back 4 did not actually play too bad today in open play but they suffer with the lack of midfield protection in front of them to meet the ball carrier on a counter.

Agree4 Disagree0

23 Feb 2013 17:02:05
2-1 essential 3 points obtained. Had the feeling it may fade away to a frustrating draw but we stuck at it and maintained the pressure which finally told.

Cazorla's best game for a while two well taken goals.

We must be more mindful of the counter attack tough and to many times we were left 2 on 2 or 3 on 3 at the back. The need for a proper stay at home DM is still apparent especially as both fullbacks attack at the same time. I felt mind sczenzy should have done better a tipped that shot around the post.

A little pressure on Spurs now at least for there game on Monday. if they can drop points the next game against them will then be massive.

Sell Walcot now that he has signed a new contract we'll get more money in the range of 20m and we for that price we could get a good player.

Diaby (too injury prone)
Mert (too slow)

Half Time 1-0 to us.

Jenks best player this half for me, Nacho looks a very good LB defending and going forward.

Have to agree with metal, Diaby needs to liven up, too many touches and giving the ball away too much.

Would like to see Podolski on for 2nd half, Giroud for me looks half asleep.

Still going for 5-1 to us, can't see Villa being able to keep up this pace.

What I'd like to see after half time:

Diaby off, dare I say it, Ramsey on to sit deep.

Arteta off, Rosicky on.

Rambo to help the defence out, Rosicky to speed up our midfield and inject some va va voom into the side.

Finally, if we need another change, either take off Giroud and bring on Podolski, or take off Theo and bring on The Ox.

Enjoyed the first half, 1-0 let's do this!

HOWEVER

We are playing so slowly. Also, getting tired of watching Diaby walk about like he can't be arsed. He literally stands in the middle, watches play go down the wings, watches it go past him, then just waits to see if our defence will deal with whatever Villa do. For a guy who plays half an hour every 6 months you'd he'd play with a bit more effort! Shocking really.

Put it this way,

If we don't start buying the likes of those players soon then we won't be challenging for 5h1t next season.

This isn't moneyball, you can't win this league or the Champions league buying the likes of Chamack, Gervinho etc and hope to do it. It's not going to happen.

I expect our team to come out strong today. There was so much talk about the players have to repay and play for the manager as it is him who picks them every week.

But I think they (the players) should play for the fans in first place.

It's us (not me because I live in Germany) who attend the games week in week out (even at away games the support is awesome).

It's us who never seem to let the team down (even though I would not blame those who do under the current circumstances).

It's us who pay "ridiculous" ticket prices for years already knowing that the money won't be spend to really improve and strengthen the team (in terms of being competitive regarding titles).

So I really believe the team will play their hearts out. If not that woulb be one of the biggest dissappointments this season to me. We can lose (but cannot really afford it) today but I want the team to show pride and will. I want too see them fight for every ball.

But what I want most is to wake up from this nightmare.

Wish you all a nice weekend. Let's support the team and be furious again (hopefully not) afterwards.

Agree2 Disagree0

Mate he is an above average player with exceptional talent, who can never be bothered to show it - he's no better than N'Zogbia. His attitude has been wrong since the first day he realised he had a guaranteed starting spot at AFC. It's been downhill since then. Boring, repetitive, slow displays, maybe once in a blue moon we'd see a bit of magic but honestly, there are way better players out there. I really feel City paid a fortune for him, it's hilarious. In terms of talent alone, yes you could say that price was not unjust. But with one year left or 6 months left, and a guy that lazy and one-paced, ha! Brilliant business Arsenal.

Nope, he can stay away, he's a sulker, he's been given one of the best platforms in the world to prove he is magic and imo he's failed miserably so nope, good riddance, let's be having someone more like Silva or Mata :)

Arsene has come out and said we have money to compete for the best talent in the summer. Finally all I can say is we are getting questions answered about the money there is to spend. Every other season we have heard from the board members that wenger has money to spend but we would go for cheap options and we are wondering if it's Wenger or is the money there that they say it is. Now Wenger has come out and everyone at arsenal and saying we have the money to compete with the big boys again also Wenger has said what he and the board should of said seasons ago and that is we haven't had that much money to spend (Wenger "First of all, we only had money recently") I think if they just said we don't have money to spend on big players then we would all know what is going on and what to expect.

Hopefully this summer will be the summer arsenal build the team into a strong force in football once again.

Honestly, why do people do it? We never ever compete for players.

Agree2 Disagree1

Pastyrash we won't have any problems attracting players. Any player will play for us if they feel they are paid well and will play. If you're a £15m-valued midfielder why would you go to chelsea? Come to us and you'll walz into the first team. Go to Chelsea and play part-time football. Right now, and I know it's hard being objective but maybe it's my love for the underdog coming out here, but if someone said to me you're going to be given £150k per week, would you like to go to United, city, Chelsea or Arsenal, I would choose Arsenal. I am more likely to play, I am more likely to be a hero, I am going to be part of a team on the up rather than a team trying to cling on to that. our only problem will be if we don't finish top 4 and even then we can still sign the best players IF and only IF we compete on wages and include a bonus for securing top 4.

Lads, can we put everything into perspective. For the past few days mosy people on this site have been so disparaging about Arsenal which I think is very poor and undeserved. We were beaten 3-1 by probably one of the best teams I have watched in Europe this year and let's be honest the three goals they scored were lucky. To be honest I thought Bayern were worthy winners but the players we have bought are only settling in and will be quality next season. All is not doom and gloom, and for all you people suggesting that we will not buy ( looking at the names put forward I can understand why they are not bought) we only want to buy better than what we have. Wenger will buy players (like Cazorla and podolski) but they will be decent.
If you get rid of Wenger who replaces him
Chin up lads, the stadium is paid, good times coming
P. s. Ed's super work, very much appreciated by the true fans, keep it up.
WE ARE ARSENAL

In the last week we have been beaten at home by Championship Blackburn. There is no embarrassment in losing to Bayern, an excellent team, but it was the manner of the defeat, with the usual problems highlighted by Bayern Munich's quality. I am certain there are managers to replace Wenger, don't forget, this season Wenger's Arsenal have lost to Bradford & Blackburn in the domestic cups & managed to get through a relatively weak CL group in 2nd place & are currently 4 points off a CL place. I am certain Moyes or Mourinho, to name two, could match Wenger's performance this season, if not better it.
My problem with Wenger is that he has tried to play with a small technical midfield in formations that clearly don't work & without any tall strong defensive midfield players. He also has not spent any of the huge reserves we have in the bank. He also uses the hopeless zonal marking system. I feel that we have been getting steadily worse in recent seasons under Wenger & I can't see any likelihood of the team getting better under him. I was a great fan of his until he abandoned his successful 4-4-2 system using a pair of tall strong central midfield players. We also have a team of failures out on loan or still with us & not playing. Wenger's 'socialist' wage policy hasn't worked. Whilst we also have a team of ex-Arsenal players playing elsewhere that could win the Premiership! Time for change. Mourinho please or Moyes.
