Ed 02, lots of talk about arsenal ins and outs, could you give us any insight as to why we are not moving people out, when it is clear we are willing to let players go. I think i know why but that's my opinion. Thanks for any real info.

{Ed002's Note - Arsenal are "moving people out"
Jack Wilshere (CM)
Takuma Asano (S)
Per Mertesacker (CB)
Santi Cazorla (CM)}

Yes ed but people with contracts, that are not required, i'm pretty confident they are after more additions but they won't arrive until the personnel that are surplus can be removed. Eg, cambell, jenkinson, ospina, welbeck, perez and others, that if an offer came in they would be considered. I presume the obvious answer is, the offers aren't coming in.

{Ed002's Note - It takes time and there is plenty of it.}

23 Jul 2018 16:33:21
Is there much interest in any of our players?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Nacho Monreal and Ospina certainly.}

23 Jul 2018 17:03:57
Would like Nacho to stay. that’s a shame.

Campbell, Jenkinson, Welbeck and Perez should go before Nacho but I guess wages are a big issue.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jul 2018 17:48:23
That's been our problem for years SY paying over the odds to players who don't quite make the grade while shying away from quality players because of wages they want.
I wonder how much we paid Theo and Jack over the years for never quite making a real impact at top level? 10 million + per season between them?

23 Jul 2018 22:36:17
Still think Jack and Tneo need to ask themselves a few difficult questions - did they do everything to maximise their god given talents or will they look back with regret. They will only know while we have opinions.

Did we over pay due to them be British or having potential or paying to make up for lack of trophies. who knows.

I think Jack will look back himself with regret in years to come while and realise he could have done muvh more to help himself qhile Theo will regret staying so long.
Theo should always have been played down the middle and under a different manager he might have achieved a much higher rating in the game.
As a winger he's in the Stuart Downing hit and miss with potential group and England squad player without ever making a starting place his own, but down the middle his pace could have made him a real threat to any team with the right coaching.
Theo took the huge money and accepted taking turns with the Ox at Arsenal rather than back himself and his ability and pace elsewhere.

Gunner, i'm afraid it was the culture club they were brought up in.

True Steve it wasn't the most glittering period of our history was it, the 4th place trophy period, ouch that's not going to read well in the history books of the future.

May already have been mentioned but I feel like as fans this is our responsibility now to get behind Özil. This guys name needs to be cheered 10x louder than ever before in our opener vs City. What he's done has taken a lot of balls and he has been subject to even more criticism after his statement (Bayern presidents recent statement) . He needs to know he has support from us.

Yes for sure It was a brave thing he done in quiting Germany and stood by his principles in doing so which in my opinion shows a strong character not weak. Obviously he will no doubt get some stick from the german press for a while now acalling him out for being weak and a quitter, but good on him. Wenger always said he is one that needs to feel the love so maybe with our support we can see the best of Ozil again.

Hope the whole f'in country cheers for him when he starts playing the new season, this whole thing has me fuming.

the bayern president sounded like a right douche! no mention of his own players also having a howler- muller, neuer and boateng didn't turn up at the world cup, ozil taking a photo doesn't make the whole team suck! i haven't seen gundogan recieve as much criticism, although i may of just missed it? but he also called him "my president" hoping we don't draw a german team this year, it could get nasty.

Im a Manchester united fan.
I will be cheering ozil for his stance. Brave and courageous move y him. i'm sure all reasonable people will support him.
On another note i think you will be much better next season. You have a good coach it looks like he has had the backing promised to him and i urhe all arsenal fans to be patient during the transition from Wenger. It may take 12 months of pain which nowadays is not recognised by supporters and media due to the need and demand for instant success but i hope it goes well. I prefer competing with arsenal than any other of the big clubs.
Back your keeper In particular. Epl football is like a different sport it will take some time for him to settle but he is a very good keeper and will prove himself when he has had time to adjust.
Enjoy the season guys.
Ken.

Özil Stats speak for themselves - assists and miles covered. He’s a genuine nice guy and needs outer support. Hoping he opens a can of wopass on EPL next season to show the world what he’s capable of doing. Stick the middle finger up to the national team if they don’t love or respect you.

You can try and read my lyrics off of this paper before I lay 'em
But you won't take the sting out these words before I say 'em
'Cause ain't no way I'm a let you stop me from causin' mayhem
When I say I'm a do somethin' I do it
I don't give a damn what you think
I'm doin' this for me, so **** the world, feed it beans
It's gassed up, if it thinks it's stoppin' me
I'mma be what I set out to be, without a doubt undoubtedly
And all those who look down on me, I'm tearin' down your balcony
No if, ands or buts, don't try to ask him why or how can he
From "Infinite" down to the last "Relapse" album he's still s***tin'
Whether he's on salary, paid hourly, until he bows out or he s**ts his bowels out of him
Whichever comes first, for better or worse
He's married to the game, like a **** you for Christmas
His gift is a curse, forget the Earth, he's got the urge to pull his dick from the dirt
And **** the whole universe
I'm not afraid (I'm not afraid)
To take a stand (to take a stand)
Everybody (everybody)
Come take my hand come (come take my hand)
We'll walk this road together, through the storm
Whatever weather, cold or warm
Just letting you know that, you're not alone
Holla if you feel like you've been down the same road

We’ve got your back Ozil!

Liverpool fan here, I just hope the whole premier league gives Ozil the loudest of cheers wherever he plays. The german media and that piece of s**t, the bayern president are just trying to make ozil the scapegoat for their inept performances in the world cup. What he has done takes massive courage. One can only imagine what he must be going through. After all he's done for his country to be cast off like this. Disgraceful!

I hope we will play a German team and Özil will trash them with his superior skills! Uli Hoennes should get fired for uttering sh*t like that!

So they say that the year England lost the semis last time, Arsenal won the next title.

Now. Is THIS coming home?
It better do!
You guys must know am just cautiously optimistic. Hahah!

Personally my optimism levels don't stretch to a title this coming season Indian mate but I do have very high hopes of real improvement that no one can question.
Top 4 is going to be super difficult not impossible of course but none the same incredibly difficult.
We might need to be patient with Dick as he shapes us into all we can be and although it's possible for it to happen overnight it's unlikely.
We start at the back of the top 6 grid and for us to achieve a Lewis Hamilton this season we need a lot of teams to spin off the track and out of the race, just making the podeem would be brilliant.

Top post gunner62, I couldn't have written it as good. I feel exactly the same, My post-above was just to infuse some humour guys, just having a little laugh!
But as far as our realistic options are considered, Man city SHOULD be run away winners, Liverpool and man utd battle out for second and third and the way Chelsea and Tottenham are shaping up, top 4 is well and truly achievable.
I'm saying that after factoring in the kind of absolute OVERHAUL we've gone through as a club. As grass root as young signings, youth coaches, backroom staff, data analytics team which I am personally super excited about being a student of that subject. And I haven't even mentioned the transfers yet. LT11 is going to bite in the epl.
Q: How long do we wait before saying that wengers departure was late but it was worth it?
A: When we win a title? I think so too!
But we when that day comes, we can say the foundations were laid from the word go.

Top 4 will be very hard but possible. I would say the two Manchester clubs are pretty much going to be in top 2 spots as it stands with the squad depth they have so that means we have to unlodge 2 out of 3 in Liverpool, Spurs and Chelsea.

Liverpool looking even stronger this term with extra creativity in midfield and a better keeper. Chelsea have uncertainty like us with a new manager and possible departure of star Man Hazard and their top keeper and Spurs have not made any signings and could lose Aderwield and rumours on RM after Trippier. So would say it is Spurs and Chelsea we need to beat to 4th. If we can keep a tight defence we have a shot.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jul 2018 13:54:54
Definitely Ryan mate, we need to become much much more difficult to beat and if can also become less wasteful up front too then anything is possible and certainly a top 4 challenge likely.

23 Jul 2018 15:27:43
really tough first 2 games, but probably the best time to play city, they are likely to be missing a few players and then chelsea who knows what they will be like, but sarri hasn't been there long so probably a good time to play them too. still i'm not expecting anything from those games, but hopefull, get a few points out of those games, even if we don't we could have quite a good start! the next 8 fixtures looks like a very nice run.

23 Jul 2018 20:44:43
Get 4 to 6 points from city and Chelsea and there will be lots and lots of excited Gooners and if Mesut can be mom in those two games so much the sweeter.

24 Jul 2018 04:10:23
I will be happy if we are just competitive in the city game and its not a foregone conclusion after 15 minutes.

24 Jul 2018 08:28:01
Beating City in preseason friendlies and winning the community shield has lead people into a false sense of excitement in previous years only for once the real stuff started for all our old problems to become on obvious on opening day again.
This time I think Dick will have those problems reduced if not irradiated and teams will have to think more about facing us rather than blow the dust off a ten year game plan that always worked against Arsenal and everyone but Arsene knew about.
I'm expecting to give City and Chelsea a very tough game at the very very least.
