CR7,

Hat trick at weekend and 4 goals tonight.

25 hat tricks in a Madrid shirt.

Unbelievable.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Best player ever for me. Makes it look too easy. he's priceless

Agree Derby,

Many will disagree, but for me, better than Messi.

Agree0 Disagree0

Messi for me, much more effective in a game, creates as well scores, team player and doesn't dive or winge.
Ronaldo is a complete athlete- strong, quick, tall, agile as well as a goal scorer, but doesn't offer as much as messi in a game.
ronaldo just waits till someone either puts him through or gives him the ball to run at a full back.
messi will pick up the ball in his own half play 1 2s, run past numerous defenders, get through but would still look for a pass.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ronaldo is superior for me:

Shooting ability
Pace
Free kicks
Heading
Looks (I don't bat for the other team, but he is a pretty boy)

All these are attributes that Ronaldo is superior in. Only attribute Messi has over Ronaldo is the dribble

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Sep 2014 23:39:20
Before the Real Madrid and Barcelona derby, Ronaldo declared that he felt he'd been sent by the God of Football to teach the world how they should really play football.
At a press conference at Barcelona, Lionel Messi was asked 'How do you feel that Ronaldo said that he'd been sent by the God of Football to teach the world how to play football'
Lionel Messi replied "I don't remember sending him!"

The only way Ronaldo could win ballon D'or was when Messi had an injury ravaged season, Messi is the best player you'll ever watch.

Agree0 Disagree0

How is ronaldos shooting better then messi? equal imo
plus messi is much better at freekicks.
and then there's attributes like passing, vision, balance. all which messi is superior at.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Sep 2014 07:44:17
Messi all day long for me, he just epitomises everything you'd want in a naturally gifted footballer.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Sep 2014 08:48:29
It would be Ronaldo for me if he didn't go down so easily! Sure, he's not as bad as he used to be, the the guy is built like a brick shit house, and look at how easily he went down for the penalty in the CL final. There was barely any contact and if anyone's got the ability to turn a situation like that into a chance it's Ronaldo, but he ended up just going down like Ashley Young.

I'll take Messi, he stays on his feet. Must just be that low centre of gravity.

Agree0 Disagree0

Out of curiosity, any of you heard the things said about messi by some former players and coaches? About how he is, though discreetly on the pitch, the biggest sulker you can imagine. He demands players pass to him in certain situations, he demands everything goes through him and he throws a right strop if it doesn't happen. basically at Barcelona it seems everything needs to go through him. Dunno if it's true but heard it a few times.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - That's 100% true, he told team mates not to pass to Sanchez, I suppose it could show that 'roid rage can happen at any time. Lionel Messi is a cheat, plain and simple, he owes his career to HGH and Dr Fuentes, not to mention Lance Armstrong who could have blown the lid off it all.}

Benik Afobe scored twice tonight and is on 9 goals for the season so far. Will he ever play for Arsenal again?
Just asking.

Thought Bellerin did well tonight. He will play right back for us for a long time me thinks.
Anymore coming through the ranks who look good enough for a shot at a higher level?
Hayden did not embarrass himself at all tonight, looked a bit inexperienced but that's because he is.

Would rather see these young men given an opportunity than go back to the days of Squillacci, Santos and Bendtner

Adobe is a beast, but happy to let him play at a lower league club to get experience, he won't get it sitting on bench at Emirates.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wont play for arsenal long term. championship player move onto a prem club later on but not top level

who ever gets him after us though has a very good player

Bit of a blessing in full drag. Atleast we won't have to play those extra rounds in the cup, our defenders are just waiting to fall apart like c3po

my ratings for tonight.

GK-Ospina (7/10)-Made some great stop, especially to deny davis early on and the tadic free kick, could do nothing for clyne's goal, but his kicking did seem woeful, I shall put it downn to nerves.

Rb-Bellerin (6/10)-Never stopped running, full of energy but his end product was mainly poor par the Sanchez chance and left the defence exposed with constant pushing forward on occasions.

Cb-Chambers (7/10)- Good on the ball, strong and some good tackles, kept Pele quiet for large majorities of the game.

Cb-Hayden (8/10)- A future Arsenal Captain, drove us forward, at ease on the ball, organised the team and played with heart, rarely a foot wrong.

Lb-Coquelin (7/10)-Convincing stuff from the Frenchman, looks a much better option than Monreal but also is more defensive minded which definitely isn't a bad thing.

CDM-Diaby (8/10 MOTM)-As if he had never been away, strong, physically in shape, great vision and keeps the ball moving a MUCH MUCH better option than Arteta due to his strength and mobility.

CM-Wilshere (5/10)-Some decent link up play but never really got into the game, kept quiet by Southamptons powerhouses in midfield.

CM-Rosicky (4/10)-Dreadful performance by usually a reliable palyer. The on the night captain gave away a very needless penalty, his passing was off and seemed to lack any acceleration or drive.

RW-Campbell (6/10)- Good performance by the Costan Rican who always seemed to know where the players were around him and added pace and trickery, but failed to deliver any kind of threat on the Saints goal.

CF-Alexis (7/10)- A quality goal and looked a menace throughout the first half and parts of the second but his delivery from free kicks into the box was poor and seemed to tire.

LW-Podolski (4/10)-Very poor, hid away for most the game, and lacks a real drive and movement.

OX-(6/10)- Should have been on after 60 mins but even so his cameo was one of pace, directness and strength, certainly adds to the attack.

Cazorla (5/10)-Didnt have much on impact par a decent delivery with his first touch.

Akpom (N/A)

Overall not a bad performance but definitely didn't deserve to win the game, wenger needs to bring players on earlier but also we try to be to intricute against a team with 2 cdm's in, it doesn't make sense.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yep pretty accurate assesment. I think we can all agree that Podolski was the main disappointment tonight did not get involved atall, was given a chance to impress just was not interested. He is on his way out for me.

Yeah a powerful strike for the winning goal, But I still say a keeper should not really get beaten from that sort of range unless it is right in the corner it was full 35 yards out.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Sep 2014 23:27:17
Very good assessment.

I think the disappointment was that our regular first teamers under performed, compared to the 'new' boys.

Agree0 Disagree0

Future arsenal captain lol.

After one game

Agree0 Disagree0

I am a big fan of Ospina, I think sometime this season he will make number 1 keeper position his, however, his kicking is actually terrible from everything I have seen, we managed to find a keeper those distribution of the ball is worse than szezesny:)

Agree0 Disagree0

I am pretty confident that in 3-4 years time Hayden will be playing for a millwall or leyton orient

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Sep 2014 21:58:04
Not too disappointed to be honest.

Got off lightly, could have and should have been a heavier defeat.

Stupid tackle by Rosicky for pen.
Great goal Sanchez.
But, what a goal by Clyne, jeez.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yeah you can't argue with the result really tonight Southampton had the better of the chances.

They are a good side that a bought well after the loss of the England players and the midfield protection that Schneiderlin and Wanyama is something we very much need, they worked very well together. I would not be complaining if we had either really in our squad.

We were not terrible tonight and had moments not forgetting we had little experience in the back line.

For me we were let down by the more experienced players in Campbell and defo. Podolski who offered next to nothing.

Good to see Diaby get a game he just needs run of games now if he can stay injury free he can still have a bright future for us as he offers something a little different to the other midfielders we have.

Agree0 Disagree0

Going out this early isn't good. it means less games to keep the squad happy. and give players a chance.

i remember the days we played the reserves and we were beating team with ease. eduardo rocking up and smashing it. vela running riot etc

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Sep 2014 21:55:48
Well a 2-1 Loss well played Southampton who you had to say deserved it overall as had the best chances.

A Scratch Inexperienced back line Hayden done pretty well, others a bit mixed. I feel sometimes chambers is too confident on the ball and can take too many risks at times.

Ospina Genrally ok but even though it was powerful shot for the winning goal you should not get beaten from that range unless its right in the corner, it should have been stopped for me.

Diaby (Good to see him play) and Wilshire did Ok in midfield, Rosicky a bit quiet, he never seems quite so effective when he starts games.

Podolski and Campbell were the main dissapointments for me did very little an did not look interested looks like they could be out of here next window for me. Certainly not enough to push for 1st team places.

Sanchez quality Free kick in and out of game but not helped by Podolski and Campbell.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

23 Sep 2014 21:53:29
I didn't think we were bad today, but we definitely were lacking a physical presence in the midfield. Diaby was decent when he was on and the youngsters showed some promise.

Southampton were the better team today, no two ways about it.

On the positive side, it's only the League Cup, and we got to see Sanchez score a worldie.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

23 Sep 2014 21:40:03
honestly think we'd benefit from a season OFF of CL or any Cup games, with a fully rested team every 7 days; we'd have the capacity and depth to win the league IMO

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We are not winning the league not happening. Not winning the champions league. Fa cup is now our only hope but doubt wenger is bothed this year.

Even if we lose in fa cup 3rd round and go out of europe we are not winning the title.

Agree0 Disagree0

Look at utd I know it's only early days but their lack of midweek games doesn't seem to be benefitting them at the moment. We should be among as much as possible, getting as far as possible in each competition but our lack of depth isn't conducive to this

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Sep 2014 21:38:51
Podolski "is a goon" and all but he is NOT an Arsenal player.

I'd give all his playing time to Apkom, Campbell and some other kid.
I like the dude, but he's being carried. Whether be it out wide or through the middle

Believable0 Unbelievable0

23 Sep 2014 22:00:10
Big fan of Podolski, but apart from first season, he hasn't offered much.

Shame.

Agree0 Disagree0

Love pods for his attitude and personality in and around the dressing room, he has an excellent finish.

but has no pace anymore, I hope this was a world cup/non first team football problem.

otherwise it may just be the fact that he is getting to the age where he needs to work more on his body too stay at the top. and his social time isn't allowing for that.?

He was always a better right back, but he wanted to play in midfield.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not good enough. Last year of his deal I think. Hel be off in the summer we kept him for too long. Gave him a contract he didn't deserve like bentner

Looking forward to watching Ospina tonight, with all the kids in front we are going to really see what he can do. Time to turn the heat up on Shezza!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I'm looking forward to Ospinas debut too. I'm intrigued to see if Hayden is Tony Adams or Igor Stepanovs. Bellerin needs a strong showing with Debuchy out for a long time.

Got everything crossed that Diaby makes it through at least an hour! Want Campbell and Poldi to rip it up with Alexis!

Agree0 Disagree0

One out of three there Doctor. Diaby got an hour, Campbell looked threatening at times but Podolski was woeful

Bear with me on this, feeling nostalgic.

Watching the Leicester/Moan Utd game the other day, and was slightly taken aback when the commentator said "The King Pack" stadium.

The what?

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for rebranding and totally understand the idea, eg extra much needed revenue for clubs, but do you find a lot of clubs, Arsenal included, are losing a piece of history?

I'm not saying all clubs have changed stadium names, and I'm not knocking those who have, but I remember going to places like Leicester (Filbert Street), Watford (Vicarage road), Ipswich (Portman Road), Derby (Baseball Ground), Wimbledon (plough Lane), Man City (Maine Road), West From (Hawthorns), Sunderland (Roker Park), Leeds (Elland Road), Wolves (Molineux).

I'm not saying all of the above have changed, and I have only listed a few clubs from the top of my head, but is football selling its soul and tradition to the money devil?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - it is 'King Power' mate.}

As arsenal moved grounds, the ground don't have any history, I just wished they kept highbury and allowed the ladies team to use it and the youth team, but unless you move grounds you do lose a bit when you renamed a stadium, I wouldn't say history but I would say it loses prestige.

Agree0 Disagree0

Which 'bear' is with you on this one?

yogi? the hair bear bunch? should you even be keeping a wild animal like that?

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Sep 2014 14:21:39
You are correct Ed, King Pack sounds better :-) .

diaby starting tonight there saying. let's hope he plays the game without injury and does very well. him staying fit could be very important for us. him as DM this season would be a massive bonus for us

Believable0 Unbelievable0

23 Sep 2014 12:52:26
Totally agree.

If and when fit, he could be a beast.

Agree0 Disagree0

Could be like a new signing:)

Agree0 Disagree0

Diaby will get injured, I was going to put a bet on it but all the betting shops won't accept any bids on diaby getting injured.

Agree0 Disagree0

Tami he will be the Carvalho or Khedira or even Schneiderlin we all cried out for!

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Sep 2014 11:15:08
Big Diaby set to feature against Southampton. let's hope it's the start of more regular appearances for us.

90 minutes Win or Lose will do for me. Don't care tbh. If we had the squad depth to field a full youth side, I would love for them to have a run in the cup but seeing as we are so short at the back, I'll not shed many tears if we go out early. Didn't miss it last year and we are one defensive injury shy of a crisis.

Southampton will be a proper good test for our fringe players which will only benefit the squad.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

23 Sep 2014 13:21:03
Agree mate.

Would love us to stay in competition and just play the youths, like Wenger use to.

No substitute for experience.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - its not dags..

Conspiracy theory.

Jenny disappeared around the time Dags was outed for "multiple personalities".

Was Jenny someone else's alter ego? Bit like Frank/Kelly Mallone?
