Yaya says no ref would be better than yesterday's ref, obviously he's never played Sunday league football where the ref doesn't turn up and someone from one of the two teams playing has to ref the game on top of having to put up with linesman from the opposing team Flaging for offside every time the opposition get in their teams half :-) .
I've never played in a game that wasn't better for having a neutral if less than perfect ref making the decisions right or wrong.
Players and managers make me laugh how they expect the officials to get things 100% right 100% of the time but expect the whole world to excuse them for missing a sitter or scoring an own goal or in the managers case getting their tactics and team selections wrong.
All the time humans officiate player or manage the game you will get mistakes which is handy because if no one ever made a mistake anywhere every game would end in 0 0 stalemate.

I don't get it mate.

So we're trying out the 3 at the back and the Ox seems to be enjoying his role on the right hand side. Assuming Wenger stays and this is the formation we continue with, where do you see that leaving Bellerin? Does he now not fit in our team, is he surely now Barcelona bound?

Looks as if Bellerin has been short of full fitness lately. This will give him a chance to take a backseat and rebuild some fitness before competing for that position, assuming we stick with the back three and two wing-backs. But longer term, there has got to be a case for Bellerin playing where Ox did yesterday and Ox moving into CM - especially given that Ramsey didn't make the greatest case to nail down a spot there yesterday.

24 Apr 2017 14:06:12
Agree but needs to sort out his offensive decision making, crossing and shooting. I actually prefer the Ox there than him but see the Ox centrally long term.

Not sure what that means for Bellerin but happy to see if he can evolve into that role.

The wing back roles are ideal for both Belerin and Gibbs game imo, I've been wanting us to play this formation for years to cut out our soft centre and shakey defence.
Ox did a fine job there yesterday but he isn't a full back and long term it will be much easier sorting out Belerins final ball than the Ox defensive weaknesses.

Where the heck is Gibbs, seems like a perfect fit for the formation. Mustafa in the middle and Kos on the left and Holding on the right.

I think 3-5-2 makes us more sold defensivly than having a flat back 4 as you always then have 3 stay back CB's rather than 2. It takes good communication between the 3 CB'S to shift left right back and forward as a unit but it can work really well if done well. Our fullbacks are so offensivley minded anyway that in flat back 4 the 2 CB's are often over exposed down the flanks on the counter so having the 3 back there allows more cover when they shift left or right. Yes the wing back's as with the rest of the team still have to defend when required but it means you are less exposed on the fast direct counter with 3 CB's when your are attacking with both the wing backs to give us that vital width.

24 Apr 2017 22:01:25
Didn't Fat Sam say after Palace beat us that we were easy to play against because our full backs bombed forward continually leaving our two CB's exposed.

Maybe Arsene has finally taken some advice and it's come from Fat Sam. 😂😂.

To be fair this year the ox looks and acts like an adult. He's starting to look promising.

It's a funny old game Stoner mate :-)
Imagine if Arsene had been sacked after the Palace game and Sam had replaced him and used the same tactics to beat Middleborough and City as Arsene just has, would Sam be called a tactical genius or a dinosaur who'd taken Arsenal back 20 years? Funny old game indeed :-)

Just out of interest and a bit of fun. who are everyone top 5 players that we need to Get them to sign new contracts now in order of importance.
For me: 1- alexis, 2-ox, 3-ozil 4-cazorla*, 5- Ramsey

*someone said on the chat yesterday cazorla signed a new deal. I'm a bit confused as multiple sites are still saying it expires 2017.

24 Apr 2017 10:40:28
It was me mate, the FA released a document showing that Cazorla took up the 1 year extension on 20th December last year.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Apr 2017 11:38:10
If Arsene stays I'd say Caz is no1 and all the rest should probably be allowed to leave simply because under Arsene they just aren't going to flourish or be happy at Arsenal.
If Arsene were to call it a day I'd say Sanchez Ozil Caz Ox in that order.
As for Aaron he needs to move on for his sake and ours no matter who is manager simply because he isn't as good as he thinks he is or trys to show he is.

24 Apr 2017 12:52:54
I keep finding mixed report but as some are saying fa reported it il go with that. Gunner62 do you really feel it's Wenger not making these players flourish? Ramsey has proven he can do it in our older formation. Ozil either isn't turning up or doesn't get any recognition when he does. Ox hopefully is starting to flourish. Alexis well he deserves to be playing for a top top team winning things year in year out and cazorla has been a big player for us.

Not meaning to sound critical Just not getting what you meant.

24 Apr 2017 12:56:59
@ D16 you really think Ramsey is No5 choice ahead of the Kos If we are to challenge in the future then he would be one of the players I would let go along with Wilshire, Walcott and a few others that simply don't make the same grade as Alexis and Ozil.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Apr 2017 13:12:59
Players that need to go: Walcott (has probably started his last game after comments following the palace game) , Ramsey, Perez, Coquelin, Gibbs.

24 Apr 2017 13:39:39
Smiler when is kos's contract up? I thought he'd be about 33 or 34, why offer him one if so. I'm more looking at the ones due to expire.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Apr 2017 14:02:21
I should add i'm all for selling Ramsey. This was meant to be a light hearted post and looking who was expiring by summer 2018 that's the 5 I thought I'd keep.

Hi 16 mate i do think it's Arsene who hasn't been able to get the best out of Ozil and Ox 100%, Ozil joining us took not just us but everyone in football by surprise as he was a top top player for Real and Germany but at Arsenal he has never consistently been able to achieve his very best, occasionally or in patches he has been fantastic but he's a lot lot better than we've seen from him.
Ox? For me when he plays for England looks extremely comfortable and exciting to watch but for us he's Arsene number one player to sub in the very few starts he gets, Mourinho and Klopp both rate him but Arsene sees him as a fringe player, the boy needs confidence shown in him to flourish as under Arsene he is far to conscious of his every mistake and is constantly expecting his number to be held to come off.
Sanchez isn't going to be happy to just pick up his money he wants to win every bit as much as he wants to be paid and just taking part in the champions league isn't close to good enough for him so that makes Arsene and Sanchez incompatible because for Arsene winning top trophies is dream but for Sanchez it's a must.

Excellent performance and results yesterday. We look so much more comfortable with a back three, which has plugged the hole in front of the full backs. With Liverpool surprisingly losing at home to Palace and City playing United on Thursday, there is a slight chance of a top four spot. On Wednesday the fans must get behind Wenger and the team against Leicester. I won't goad raver and his rusty Subaru, as that is now three competitions that Arsenal have gone further in than his mighty toot. Yes, they will in all probability finish ahead of us in the league for the first time in his life, but there are no prizes unless they finish first. Chelsea look like taking that prize, with their confidence restored after thrashing the toot 4-2 at Wembley and they have three very winnable home matches left. It will be interesting to see how toot respond to being beaten by Chlesea against Palace and then us at the weekend. As raver knows, the pain at the lane and Wembley, just goes on.1961 and waiting.

Would you put bellerin in and move ox into the middle?

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Apr 2017 10:52:10
Nope, Ox looks excellent wide and Bellerin would be quality cover.

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Apr 2017 12:03:25
I said earlier and got ridiculed, sell bellerin for 50 mil to Barcelona and let the new manager have the funds to get a right back who loves defending and can deliver a cross.

24 Apr 2017 14:01:51
R. G. you went further in every round than spurs and you have won nowt, would you rather be 7 th in the league and in the final or be second in the league and going for the title. You also won't be winning the cup as Chelsea will be too much for you, nevermind a few wins in the league should get you in the spursday cup next season.

Great words of advice from raver who supports a team that have won nothing in his lifetime, with a manager and players that have won nothing. 7 semi final defeats at Wembley! As raver well knows, the pain at the lane and Wembley just goes on. 1961 and waiting.

{Ed007's Note - 'Brought home the bacon' and 'splash your winnings' sounds like you've been out on the lash with David Cameron.}

" I enjoyed the day" that's over now back to where we was. Its monday and our league position is still dire and we are in the sh**. Its all well and good playing well in a competition that you maybe play one two or three top teams in to win it. That doesn't excuse the day job performances at all, where the team every year come short.
