Here's my take on that match.

Cech had a cracking game, saved our skin more than once.

Gabriel was brilliant, a little shaky in the first half, which was to be expected, but came into his own in the second, put himself about, a real no nonsense performance.

Coquelin demonstrated some real leadership qualities today, saving us a couple times and making some inch perfect tackles.

Özil was great too (I'm I'm open minded, but any disagreements here and it's pistols at dawn ladies and gents) he got into some good position, carried the ball well and made space for the team.
Here's the thing with Mesut, the suit maketh the man.
And Giroud's more Matalan than Armani, he'll do for the work social but you're not going to wear him to a wedding, get me?

Now the not so cheery.

Chambers was a liability today, as ed said earlier to my post, deer caught in headlights springs to mind.
I know he's young, but he can't hold his own at the top yet.
He'll do well, but for now, needs to be treated carefully.
I really feel an old CB who wouldn't want to play every game, would be ideal.
Like Silvestre or Squillacci, just, you know, good.

Giroud is infuriating.
He takes up awful positions around the box, he's ineffective on the ground and he's just all round wasteful.
I know you have to cut the guy some slack, but 1 goal in 10 league games simply isn't good enough for a club who apparently want to challenge for the title.

Cazorla got crowded out a bit today, not his fault, be he needs more protection from other players, give him the short option if he really needs it, Coquelin tries to, but the lad can barely pass water at times, he seems to try (and fail) one ambitious long ball every game.

Sanchez doesn't look sharp.
It's ok him putting the effort in, but he looks tired.
We rushed him back and that's when players get injured.

Ramsey.
Why oh why are we still starting him out wide?
It's mystifying.
I try to understand Wenger's reasoning but there just is none here!
Liverpool crowded the mid today, we were screaming for some real width.

Oxlade-Chamberlain came on and in 5 minutes had one good shot, should of had an assist for Giroud and beat a couple players on the dribble.
That's more than most of the lads did in 90!
How can Ramsey, who's completely ineffective out wide, still start?
You have to be cruel for the benefit of the team and drop Ramsey.

As it stands, Cazorla and Coquelin are untouchable in that centre mid pair.
And Özil is the nailed on number 10 starter.

Walcott or Ox starting today and the game's a different story.

If anything, surely this has to show that we do need to strengthen.
If you're sticking with a forward who's completely out of the game, for 70 minutes, then something's wrong.
We don't have the depth for a plan b.

I still think we'll do good business this window, just need to be smart about it.

Ramsey Is not justifying his place at present and is hopelessly ineffective out wide for sure. Ozil has not actually played that bad, but I think for that extra zip and penetration I would play ox as the AM and drop Ramsey and Ozil. This is not going to happen obviously with Wenger though. Or to be brave perhaps give Sanchez a breather for a bit play Ozil as The AM and Ox out wide. Ox is making things happen whenever he comes on and is worthy of place at present

What is clear more than anything is that we need another central Striker Giroud has no competition for his place and is getting complacent in my book. I would prefer Cavani over Benzama as he is more in you face and direct and great in the air but either would a upgrade over Giroud. Sanchez not been in great from but he has not had a decent rest for ages now burned out in my book.

I think ox should be started on the right wing what an impact he had when he came on didn't even know theo was on the pitch drop Ramsey play ox le coq ozil santi and a new striker

If cech keeps playing like that he will get us loads of points what a game he had also Gabriel was brilliant him on kos at the back will be a great unit

24 Aug 2015 23:41:14
Gab and Coq were great tonight while Cech was outstanding

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2015 22:50:13
Thought we were very unlucky with the normal goal being disallowed but we rode our luck also plus that's 1 of the twelve points that Cech will save us

Not going to discuss Liverpool as I don't support them

We lost our two centre halves which any team would struge with but we created most of Luverpools chances by stupid defending or poor passing - got to sort that out

Thought midfield gave the ball away too cheaply and did not create enough in terms of pressure, making space or creativity

Also thought we did not hold the ball up well or really created any super chances or really put their keeper under pressure

Big 7 days to make a few signings as we aren't far away from competing but we are far away from winning the league

If we want 3rd - stick

If we want first - twist!

Well played Cech - great interview and he knows we are short in terms of winning the league

Disappointing result and performance, although Liverpool played well in first half, Courtinho running the show.

Never easy starting a game with your 2 centre halves out, and it showed.

But, I'm more concerned with our forward players.

Its been said before, Cazorla, Ramsey and Ozil can't play together.

For me, our only mid who should be automatic choice is Coquelin, because he is our enforcer.

We than build around him, with probably Cazorla playing alongside him. They compliment each other.

Sanchez, based on class and workrate, gets left wing.

Right wing should be Theo or Ox.

That is a proper balance midfield quartet.

Sanchez has workrate and goals and will run all day.
Cazorla will pick passes all day long, is 2 footed and has an eye for goal.
Coq will just sweep up, cover back 4, break up play and win the ball and pass it on.
Theo and Ox are natural wingers. They have pace, power and an eye for goal.

Now the problem.
We have 1 spot left and 2 players, Ozil and Rambo.

who do you play in the attacking midfield role?

Wenger needs to get tough. you can't play Ozil and Rambo at the same time.

Dags this is team I would of played

Coquelin Ramsey
Carzola

Ox. Giroud😂. Sanchez

Id go ozil as he creates more chances

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Aug 2015 23:28:13
Ill be tempted to go le coq, caz and rambo. Ramsey hasn't been brilliant this season but he is a goal threat.

With ramsey we can always go to a 3 in midfield when needed too. I do like ozil and i think he does try hard to make things happend but without a pacey CF all he can do is pass it to feet and then we look predictable.

Top player he will have some great games but i don't think he suits our team. We need someone who is going to get closer to giroud and even run beyond him if we don't get a top CF. Just isn't his natraul game and we have Caz to dictate from deep.

I want him to stay but at the moment we need a better balance defensively and offensively and think wenger needs to sacrafice him.

Agree0 Disagree2

24 Aug 2015 23:35:37
The simple reason that Ramsey plays out wide is that Ox and Walcott aren't good enough. Ox is very creative and is a really useful player against poor teams but he gives the ball away far too often to be played in a big game. Walcott on the other hand offers nothing when he doesn't have space and you're not going to get space at home against a decent defence. I also don't agree that out of Ozil, Ramsey and Cazorla, it's Cazorla who should be safe. He was very poor today. Passing was all over the place and his delivery from set pieces was simply woeful. I know it's only one game, but I really don't think our problem today was Ozil and Ramsey. They played reasonably well and you've got to remember, Ramsey scored a totally legitimate goal, which is more than anyone else did.

Agree2 Disagree0

24 Aug 2015 23:46:25
Good post, Missing our two regular CB starters always meant we would struggle tonight defensively as Gabriel has not had much match time yet and ideally needs some of experienced partner to bring him along to get to speed unfortunately he had chambers alongside who is not getting much game time either and is still in-experienced. They both need to play more in the cup games to get that match sharpness’s we will need to utilise at other points in the season you can't expect Kos ad mert to stay injury free.

Ozil and Ramsey in the team together just does not work, it makes us unbalanced and lop-sided, neither can play out wide as effective as they can in the centre so something has to give. Our front 3 should be Walcott, Sanchez and Giroud to increase pace up top and if you use Ozil he must be used centrally or not atall. I don’t think Ramsey has played that well so far this season so either use Ozil or Ox in that central AM position Coq and Cazorla see to work well together so I don’t think you really drop them at the moment. So Ramsey or Ozil have to give way, But Wenger just will not do it.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2015 00:10:41
Sacrifice Ozil? I think I am dreaming. We need to upgrade striker so we get the best out of him, rather than stick with our goat Giroud who fluffs chance after chance

Agree1 Disagree0

25 Aug 2015 01:09:38
Ramsey gets played wide because quite a lot of our wingers positionally aren't that great and aren't exactly keen on tracking back. Bellerin is the width that side on the overlap. However, with a naive defence and a Liverpool side who turned up looking to counter, Ramsey on the right makes a lot more sense than just a random selection. Holding possession is key.

For me william carvalho, probably in January, is most likely and makes most sense, when his collarbone is back in one piece to offer midfield technical ability whilst being able to walk through yaya toure.

Aaaand,

A forward who fits the benzema mould -I.e link play and score.

my ten pence worth :)

Didn't see the game. I'm told my boy coutinho did well. For me he is a top top player I'd love him here

We won't challenge no way. City will run away from us I feel

Big week ahead for Wenger. No more excuses. Striker and a DM at least please and no more Ramsey right side zzz

Cech had a stormer they say. Love that guy

Is it me or does Arsene have problem with Petr Cech? He seems very reluctant to praise him or even talk up how good a signing he is.
Maybe I'm putting 2 and 2 together and coming up with?
Cech certainly comes across as very humble so I don't see an attitude problem.

on Petr Cech…
During that period, yes he was outstanding.

Let's not read too much into the post match interview - AW wanted to stress about the regular goal being ruled out and our chances

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2015 22:28:57
we have a goal disallowed
we hit the post
we should have had a penalty

we had 19 shots at goal

And we were awful

Things will get better its only three games gone

Don;t write us off yet. Just hope AW sorts his best formation out and he can sign a couple of players

Lfc fan back, I asked last week where the game game would be won and lost. You all where very confident of a win "walk over you" was said alot..

The fact your keeper got momsays it all, lucky as he got you the points. Could of been 3-0 half time, your cb's needs upgraded. Before the game I would of taken a draw bit now am annoyed we didn't get all 3 as deserved...

Best of luck until we meet again.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

24 Aug 2015 22:26:13
Bren I thought you did well the whole 58'minutes your keeper didn't waste. You were well worth a point mate but looked like a 1970s Italian side at times, not a great rep that mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2015 22:26:28
Looks like you're forgetting an offside goal that shouldn't have been disallowed mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2015 22:32:32
Liverpool were good in first half and Courtinho is a brilliant player.

Apart from that?

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2015 22:34:43
Yeah disallowed goal, also seen someone on here say u hit the post when?

We hit the post twice, your keeper safes you from two yards from ben long range from our number ten twice..

Good game but think people will learn that Liverpool has gotten anew backroom staff and a defensive coach. A coach I believe has made us hard to beat .

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - sanchez hit the post bren..you were probably sitting there wondering why you paid that much for firmino and missed it mate..

24 Aug 2015 22:34:57
And mignolet didn't make a string of saves in the 2nd half?

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2015 22:48:48
Lol Ed,

BigBren, It was probably a fair result.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2015 23:12:46
Think if you count it all we just, just edged it but happy with result .Think would of been a different game if you your cbs, chambers was very very bad. On firmino, think he was good tab out of steam around 50 mins but Good. Can't see eitherv lfc or arsenal taken the epl... But we can give it a hard run with some luck ( arsenal need a striker)

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2015 23:59:35
I think we payed that much ed because he was what was best avaliable to us without champions league and we didn't want to risk losing out on him.

Will be a good player but defiantly not a right winger, did a good job but him behind benteke will be better.

Great game.

I still can't believe the club who love Southampton players and the club who are only challenged by Newcastle for French players, didn't go and get Morgan Sch. Both are crying out for him but oh well.

good luck for the rest of the season, so glad the Emirates is out of the way it's probably the only place I truly fear us going.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2015 22:07:46
And Arsenal are supposed to be challenging for the league? Lost possession way too much especially the forwards and in the first half the back line was horrendous. As we saw again to many number 10s makes us lose our width and speed. Hopefully this makes Wenger notice we need new signings not just because our rivals are buying but to freshen the team with new faces and strengthen where we need to. For me Giroud needs serious competition upfront, the link up play is good but losing possession every 1 out of 3 times you get the ball is ridiculous, especially when you think of the strikers we've had in the past Ian wright, Henry, Van Persie. Something needs to be done if we are going to mount a serious challenge for the title, it's not the worst result but if we are to go for it this season we should be beating Liverpool at home and playing like title challengers as every point matters. Let's just wait and see what Wenger can pull of before the deadline..

24 Aug 2015 22:30:02
been on here a few times over last week, like to get fans perspective on game before we play them and general perspective was gunners going to steam roll us. Was a good game & think arsenal are only 1 or 2 players from winning the league, maybe not even that think you guys will b there or there abouts.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2015 22:01:55
1. Ramsey has no right to be playing where he is. Our right wing was dead

2. Petr Cech is a fabulous keeper

3. Sanchez is not in form

4. We need a very good striker who can steal points in such games

5.is Ox the only one who can shoot from distance?

6. I hope Kos and Per return soon. Chambers is an accident waiting to happen

7. Petr Cech is fantastic. I say it again. Were it not for him, we could have lost that game 3 nil or worse

Believable0 Unbelievable0

24 Aug 2015 22:16:25
1. He is playing there to accomodate others

2. Yes we know

3. Give the bloke time he has had played more games than others, what are you expecting

4. Yes we do but we have what we have for 10 bob and an Orange, we didn't exactly create much did we

5. Looks like it and it annoys the hell out of me

6. Me too

7. or 5 or 6

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2015 22:31:53
I Would much rather have Ox start at right wing ahead of Ramsey.

Cech was superb tonight, and Chambers looked really fragile in the first 45.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2015 23:31:25
Gabriel done well tonight him on kos at the back

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2015 22:01:35
Giroud was awful Walcott didn't do much Ramsey was wasted out wide coquelin had a good game I think there's to much passing edge of the box which is predictable and easy to defend against we should look at how city are attacking this season with penetration and purpose thought wenger should of started chamberlain and played Ramsey central but it looks like it will be the same midfield each week

Believable0 Unbelievable0

24 Aug 2015 22:01:28
Hi Arsenal fans,

My prediction would have been correct if not for Petr Cech... World class!

Not too disgruntled with a point at the Emirates though.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - you played well taks, but if you kept your foot on the gas 2nd half you would have probably won..

24 Aug 2015 22:00:35
We have to take the positives from the game and that is no goals against and 1 point.

Cavani is a must. We need an alternative striker to Giroud and it's not Walcott.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

24 Aug 2015 22:17:24
Agreed

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2015 21:57:36
A few points from tonight's game..

1. We need a top striker, no doubt about it.
2. We need an upgrade on Coquelin, someone who is better on the ball.
3. I still think we need a top CB but it's difficult without your two first choice CB's.
4. Ozil, Cazorla, Ramsey CANNOT play together.
5. Chamberlian has to play instead of one of those 3. He gives us width a pace.

5 points behind City already! So much for having a good start.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i have to say i thought coquelin was immense G95..

24 Aug 2015 22:07:28

Tbf that was one heck of a cracking nil-nil match. You got your money's worth plus some.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2015 21:57:09
Firstly le coq being slated again for "on the edge " tackles if it wasn't for the tackles we would have been two down not one was a fouls, 2nd really disappointed tonite if we only make one signing it's a complete joke no goals in 6 home games we are crying out for a world class forward it's getting stupid now I feel that we are going to leave it until the end of the transfer window and lose out bcos it's to late,

Believable1 Unbelievable0

24 Aug 2015 21:55:33
well i never saw 0-0 coming

I am so thankful of a point but AW must see we are short of players surely.

PC is already showing what a damn good signing he was .

Believable0 Unbelievable0

24 Aug 2015 21:46:48
Chelsea park the bus but Liverpools time wasting is letting the tyres down and draining the oil and hiding the keys, Shame because they've done well tonight and been better than that

Believable0 Unbelievable1

24 Aug 2015 21:07:01
Chambers is a liability , why not debuchy? Le coq playing on the edge again hopefully he comes of for the ox after bout 60 mins and Walcott for Ramsey ( goal wrongly disallowed) but seriously he is playing right wing and he is shooting from left side? That's 1/2 our prob no one stays in position! But if we win and Ramsey scores assisted by chambers I retract this post

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - you have to look at the forwards as well rick, they lose the ball too much and too often..

24 Aug 2015 21:31:02
Some of Le Coqs long ranch passion tonight has been excellent

24 Aug 2015 21:35:13

24 Aug 2015 21:04:13

We are not crying our for a CF its a Defensive midfielder and a CB.............surely that can be seen

Believable0 Unbelievable1

24 Aug 2015 21:55:10
Seriously, what did Gabriel and Coquelin do wrong? I agree Chambers is not the answer but the other two saved us on numerous occasions.

Giroud on the other hand never won a header and missed every chance he had.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - im afraid giroud proved tonight that if he is the man expected to lead the line then arsenal are in trouble stoner..

24 Aug 2015 21:55:49
how so? we look flat in attack too.....

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - as a witches tit..

24 Aug 2015 22:03:13
Spot on Ed025, Giroud is not the answer up front, he had 3 great chances tonight, he needs to finish at least one of the to be considered as first choice. A CDM and ST are what's needed, I feel we might have left it too late it the window for them to come in but fingers crossed

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - no argument from me there peter..

24 Aug 2015 20:51:21
Defence is pi55 poor, but apart from Cech and Coq, everybody else is useless.

Sanchez, Ozil, Cazorla and Ramsey need to start holding onto the ball more and start creating chances, just to keep the pressure off our back 4.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

No mate, the problem is if he can't do the job as a 'cover' defender then he has to go or if people really think he is that good ( laughing ) then he needs time on the pitch and has to go on loan somewhere

Chambers needs to go out on loan and get experience if we are to get full value for him.

He is a liability he has given the ball away 3 times in the first 12 minutes, for a CB that distribution isn't good enough.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

24 Aug 2015 20:31:00
Its a worry because he's better at RB either at the moment, Cech might need to pay a chunk off he's fee tonight they said he was worth 8 pionts to us over a season 1 or 3 of them might be needed.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2015 20:52:41
Totally agree, I'd take off Chambers and play Debuchy in there he surely can't be anywhere near as bad..

Chambers is in desperate need of a loan move and Wenger surely has to look at this and see we need more signings..

Cech has mad two world class saves but they were from unbelievably casual football in front of the back four..

Im going to try and second guess wenger. While, i think most on here would want ox on the right and some walcott upfront for pace. I think ramsey will play right ( just a feeling because of the way he has been playing up sanchez role ) and giroud will be up front. For me i don't think it will matter too much this game who plays, i don't think the liverpool strength and weakness is exploited by either. Which ever formation he plays i will stick with the same result. I do think liverpool are a bit disjointed at the moment and are seaching for answers to problems, that are going to let them down this season, as last.

Madrid have been very heavy with their social media posts, emphasising benzema recently.

They're clearly aware of the rumours too, all this over activity could go one of two ways.

1: They're 100% certain he's not leaving and they're trying to make a point.

Or

2: They know he's off, but they're trying to quell rumours he's leaving.

Either way, the photos are pretty good evidence that we can disbelieve anyone who says Benzema is in London right now!

Following on from that, as much as I really want Benzema at Arsenal and I believe he'd be a massive success, does this strike anyone as too similar to Higauin/Özil?
We publicly chase a player all summer, only to not land him and then end up signing a completely different, world class player.

If we were to no bring in Benzema but end up with someone of Özil's caliber instead, I'd take that!

As much as I want to believe the Benzema rumours, I'm just as inclined to doubt them as anyone who's ever followed the rumour mill for all of about a week. That said, I'm beginning to get concerned by the lack of activity at one end because the squad is beginning to look really rather thin.
Arsenal have signed one player and now let 18 go this summer, of whom 12 are out on loan. Zelalem is the only one who might get recalled in January but the rest are all gone for a year. Could well be one more player, assuming Campbell leaves too. We've always done a good job of bringing through some decent youth, and no doubt many of these players will benefit from loan spells and a handful probably aren't in the club's future plans (like Silva), but we must be wary of the injury curse striking while our options are so limited.
Bring in another CF and CDM and I'll be a lot less concerned, as unfortunately, revelations like Bellerin don't happen every season.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

24 Aug 2015 11:51:30
We'll strengthen.
Arsene may be stubborn but he's not stupid.

I'd happily bet on at least 1 player coming in, 2 or 3 if the deal is right.

We're Arsenal, we don't do things the easy way, expect it to go on till the last second.

Cuadrado moving to Juve, that's my prediction for the beginning of the merry-go-round!

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Aug 2015 08:03:10
"Of course, there is pressure to keep up with them. All of them have spent more money but only one can win the title, " he said.

"It's not just the consequence of the money they spend in how successful you are. That is why you have to keep your nerve and not buy just because the others buy - but buy because you have found a player that can really give you a plus.

"It is difficult because there's more money in football, more clubs with big resources, and less players available.

"The funds are there more than the players who could strengthen the squad. That is a big problem.

"People know that you have the resources and they want you to buy players from clubs who do not need your resources, and who are not necessarily prepared to sell."

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2015 09:03:58
On a serious note Derby of all the players that have moved so far who do you see as improvements over specific players in our team.

For me none of the potential big movers have gone anywhere yet, such as Pogba, Bale, Higuian, Benzema, Reus, Gotze, Lewandowski, Aubeyemang, Cavani, Ibrahimovich, Lacazette, Carvalho, Javi Martinez and more.

I've yet to be envious of any move up to now.

Agree2 Disagree0

24 Aug 2015 09:17:01
On the face of it sounds quite sensible from a man who feels he has an already excellent squad, but you know as much as me Arsene doesn't always say what he really thinks.
He's admitted he has said in the past he felt we had enough to challenge when he didn't really believe it himself, he has funds which I'm sure he will use if he can the players he wants but rightly or wrongly he won't buy to keep people happy or off his back.
Not long to wait now one way or the other

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2015 09:29:35
Stoner you are spot on-none of the "top" players have gone anywhere yet, and probably not likely to either.
We keep hearing that Benzema and or Cavani are flying in for Medicals but in my opinion, the only Medicals that SHOULD be taking place are on the half-wit "reporters" who put out these stories in the first place as they are obviously a sandwich short of a picnic.
Are we honestly supposed to believe that when a player movement is on the cards, the first people they inform are Metro and some 2nd rate hack in Italy?

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2015 09:32:32
I'd say that missing out on Kondogbia was a real shame

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2015 09:38:31
Your right stoner. But there is one transfer that would get into our side and its ottomendi. But in all reality when you spend what other clubs have spent to only think that one of them signings would walk into your side then you have saved yourself a lot of coin. And to be honest only have the list above of big names would improve arsenal

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2015 11:16:09
we didn't miss out on kondogbia we didn't even try for him :( id of loved him

id of taken vidal if it meant him or no dm

the bender brothers id take. krychowaik for 22mill is a no brainer. i'm a wanyamma fan he gets a lot of stick i don't know why

at a push a deal for Illarramendi who will go for a 3rd of the fee they played. lucas silva is also available on loan they say.

the players are out there of course they are.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2015 11:32:35
I did think of Kondogbia but he is listed as a CM more than a DM and we're told Wengers preferred option is Carvalho who is really starting to look good.

It's always a difficult call, I used to like Wanyama but visited a relative and went to the Saints vs Everton game and watching him up close is a whole different story. I know it's one game but not worth the punt for me.

On a side note how the hell Tom Cleverley has ever managed to get a contract at any club is beyond me.

I also thought of Otamendi Brow but I'm still convinced we have a potentially great pairing in Koscielny and Gabriel once we get them on the pitch together.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i was clevs biggest critic stoner, but to be fair to the guy he has played very well since being at goodison, so fair play to him mate..

We all know there are players out there Derby and you just seem to love reeling off a list of players you like.

Why is illamarendi not in the Madrid team, whose place does Vidal take, when was the last time you saw or heard of either of the Bender brothers setting the world alight.

There is little rhyme or reason to half the stuff you say mate just this constant wish list with little thought fella and I'm not meaning to offend.

Like I said none of the big players are or have moved and your just talking about the lesser lights or those we don't need or won't improve. :-)

I actually think if you had your way we would have a brand spanking new starting 11 plus subs. ;-) oh and the manager! Lol.

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Aug 2015 12:43:49
Eds,

I've never been a fan of Cleverley so watched him specifically to see if I'd been wrong as I did Wanyama and even in that 3 nil win Cleverley was woeful, losing possession, bad passing, he just seems to let players run away from him as he did again against City on Sunday.

He had one effort against the Saints, pretty much a free shot at goal and spooned it a mile wide from well inside the box with so much time.

He and Barry both looked poor to be honest and it changed my opinion of Wanyama who was even lazy at times, again watching the game pass him by.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i suppose people see the game differently stoner, most everton fans were on his case from the start but going by the posts he seems to be a decent recruit, maybe though he came with such low expectations that even an average display was greeted with surprise mate..i suppose we will have to wait and see with this one..

24 Aug 2015 13:40:32
stoner why was pedro not in the barca team. why was coutinho let go by inter milan for peanuts. why was ozil let go. sanchez let go. why was cesc allowed to join chelsea.

was matic regarded as world class and wanted by every club before he rejoined chelsea? why was morata allowed to join madrid.

would you not of taken greizzman last year when they wanted to keep carlos vela?

the bender brothers are excellent players mate no doubt about it.

if i had my way we would challange and usmanov would be our owner not silent stan

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2015 14:16:41
Derby,

You want to add players that IMPROVE your side, it is no good simply running off lists of players, I'd have Cazorla over Coutinho all day long, let alone Ozil.

Had you ever honestly heard of Krychowiak before ed02 mentioned him.

Sanchez was not in the Barca team for obvious reasons which enabled us to buy him, the same went for Pedro and Chelsea. We have Chamberlain and Walcott, why do we want Pedro.

Greizmann instead of who?

Chelsea sold Matic and brought him back again, you are talking about the passed.

We are in the here and now, Wenger is not going to start buying players because we like them or because they are on the 300.

Like I said none of the best players have moved yet.

Agree0 Disagree1

24 Aug 2015 13:39:19
You're right ed025,

We all look at it differently and I only watched him for the one game close up but even the people around us were saying how bad he was. It was almost a bit like waiting to see what he cocked up next.

I don't have a downer on Everton by the way ed, great club and hope they do well. Just not against us.

I think the biggest thing with Cleverley is that he's been so over hyped that it's almost impossible for him to relax into a game.

Maybe like you say time will change that.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2015 07:01:03
Massive match tonight. After the awful result against West Ham, we desperately need a win.
I would like to see us use Theo's pace on the right.
My selection:
Cech
Bellerin Mertesacker Koscielny Gibbs
Coquelin Cazorla
Walcott Ozil Sanchez
Giroud
I am not a fan of Monreal, he lacks pace at the top level and I fail to understand the fans love in for him. I would have to start Cazorla and Ozil ahead of Ramsey and Oxlade, but they are good optiond for 2nd half substitutions.
I expect Wenger to start Monreal and Ramsey, in place of Gibbs & Walcott.

Believable2 Unbelievable3

24 Aug 2015 07:48:02
Agree with Ramsey/Wallcot as i feel we miss any real threat on the wing with Ramsey.
However i disagree with Gibbs for Monreal, we seem a more cohesive unit defensively with Nacho as he picks his runs a bit more conservatively and he is s defender first and foremost

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2015 07:57:42
Anything less than a win would be a miserable result Robbie, Liverpool come to us unbeaten and 100% pionts and will be expecting to keep at least one of those going.
All eyes on us tonight with every pundit and journalist looking to dis our title contending credentials so a test we have to pass with flying colours.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2015 08:09:21
I agree with not playing Ramsey on the right, but I'd like Ox there over Theo right now.
He seems sharper at the moment.

I'm kinda suprised by the Monreal criticism though!
He's easily our best left back.
He may not be the quickest, but he's much more defensively solid that Gibbs, he overlaps well but his strength lies in his defensive capability.
We've got Sanchez on the left who lives to run at defenders, we can't afford to have our left back half way up the pitch all the time.

Sanchez and Monreal compliment each other perfectly.
AoC and Bellerin work better too, purely because Alex works harder than Theo tracking back, as Bellerin does love to bomb on.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2015 11:25:43
Cech
Moneal Kos Gabriel Bellarin

Yes, a little adventurous but I think we have what it takes to beat pool playing more offensively and catching them on the break.

24 Aug 2015 06:08:04
Well today should be THE day according to some "journalists" wham Benzema is unveiled as an Arsenal player.
I for one am so fed up with all these rumours about who we are signing, having been linked with most of the Madrid and Bayern teams over the last month, the only surprise is that we haven't "bid" for the Krankies!
Maybe we are reading too much into Benzema playing no part in last nights game, amid reports that he is still injured, but the end of the transfer window can't come soon enough for me so that we can just get on with our season no matter who we have or haven't signed.
I'm still hopeful of bringing Cavani in personally as I think he'd do a job for us, but time will tell.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

24 Aug 2015 07:16:24
I understand that Benzema is extremely likely to join us. However, I have my reservations about him and would try everything possible to sign Lewandowski. Failing which I am not sure which striker to sign.
We definitely need a quality defensive midfield player and to get rid of Flamini, Arteta & Campbell.
