Anyone remember when the player of the year awards were held the same night as the league cup final and the Grand National boat race and the FA cup semi finals were all on the same day too.
Nostalgia probably makes it seem more exciting than it really was but back then they seemed like fantastic sporting occasions.

Does Firmino, Salah and Manè all score in every home game?

Believable2 Unbelievable0

24 Feb 2018 21:04:11
Salah does for sure, i think Mane has 7 PL goals and Firmino is on 13 now, Salah is on 23. Not bad for a RW! What's impressive with today's game was Chamberlain, was immense in midfield, could have easily had a hatrick of assists!

Wenger in the past when he has been tottering has had a get out of jail game come along. Tomorrow is that game so I have feeling 2-1 to us or we win on penalties.

24 Feb 2018 11:23:57
It's a no lose situation for us, If we get stuffed hey ho everyone half expects it while if our players put in a performance and make a real game of it we will all be happy regardless of the result.
If our players give everything we will be happy.

Shame no Lacazette as that limits our scoring options - really need a fit Rambo as outside of him it’s down to Nacho or Kola!

Back 4 as normal

Midfield - Rambo Jack Xhaka Kola

Up front - Ozil and Pea

Need to have energy, pressing and commitment in midfield

Midfield also offers a bit of goal threat

I would have put Welbeck in over Kola but then we have no attacking option on the Bench.

Shame we don’t have Giroud or Laca as we have limited options where as money bags $ity have loads.

24 Feb 2018 13:41:21
Yeah it's all about money SY our measly 200 million spend over the last 4 years gives us little chance of finishing above big spenders like Spurs Liverpool and Leicester:-)
Mate just accept we haven't spent wisely or got the best out of our investments rather than keep making excuses for us, only by doing this can we ever hope for the future to be different from the recent past.

62 - squad cost at start of the season:

Club Country Cost (euros)
Manchester City England 853
Paris St-Germain France 850
Manchester United England 784
Chelsea England 644
Barcelona Spain 628
Real Madrid Spain 497
Juventus Italy 470
Liverpool England 437
Arsenal England 416
Tottenham England 361

No excuses but you be realistic - we can’t compete with City and Utd or Chelsea but some expect us to finish above them

Have we invested best as possible - no but limited funds don’t always help.

May be : Rambo -Jack -Maitland-Niles - Kola

Bit more mobile.

SY mate let's conceed that Utd City Chelsea have an unbeatable advantage over us and any points we take off them is an amazing achievement, that's 12 points a season and we are currently 27 behind city and after Thursday that might well be 30 pts with 10 games to go?
No matter if City spent 1 trillion on players they can still only field 11 at a time same as everyone else and no money gap explains away a 30 pts gap and it being mathematically impossible for us to catch them with over a quater of the season still left to go.
Sorry mate it sounds a lot like the same old excuses to me.

I do state NO EXCUSES and that we haven’t invested best.

Like my team for tomorrow?

I think its going to be 2-1 to the Arsenal, or 5-0 to City. We'll know after the first few minutes.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Feb 2018 17:41:23
Yes SY mate but I'd play Elneney or Even Chambers in Xhaka place as DM or even Kol as DM and use Danny on the left.
I know it's a big game to experiment with an untried DM in but we have a history against City of playing a previously untried player there with huge success, Le Coq made his DM debut against City away and we win 0 2 :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Feb 2018 19:02:15
I would swap Xhaka and Maitland-Niles while playing Kola in a familiar Left midfield position

Power, Energy and mobility - think mobility will be key against a fluid City team while Jack and Rambo offer a turn of pace or a late run into the box.

Out the traps strong and fast unlike against Spurs - need to learn from that

Elneny is a bit pedestrian and Chambers needs to sort his confidence out first.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Feb 2018 19:05:10
May be Nketiah and AMN could be the surprises then as he has to be a better option up front the Welbeck as a striker so Welbeck can replace Kola in second half if needed.

24 Feb 2018 19:51:07
Obviously we've got to keep it tight at the back as we can, I knew that's usailly as tight as a shirt that's 3 times to big for you but we have to do the best WE can, plus try and make it difficult for them to simply pass and move through our Mf like a hot knife through butter and put pressure by breaking at speed.
If it was me picking the team I'd go 3 4 3 playing Ozil and Ramsey behind Pea with strict instructions not to come into our final 3rd

Ospina
Mustafi Kos Monreal
Belerin Elney Jack Kol

Ramsey Ozil
Pea
Not brilliant but personally I think it's as good as anything else we can put together.

First post here. I for one am super excited about Sunday. but that may be because it's only my second ever trip to see an Arsenal game. Life as a poor lad in Devonshire makes going to a game a costly trip. Hopefully I won't leave disappointed. Though the whole season has been fairly disenchanting for me. Personally, I've never been Wenger out, he is all I remember, being around 5 when he was appointed and going to see the invincibles at Highbury with my granddad at 12 being my only other venture to see Arsenal. My mind is, however, being swayed over this year and the last. It'd be a shame to see my memories tarnished further, but I can't see much change coming any time in the next couple seasons.

Forget all about the in out shake it all about thing tomorrow and have an absolutely brilliant day out.
If we win the cup you will have a memory to cherish forever and if it goes badly? Hey you've been to a Wembley cup final and got to see the best City team of all time play in the flesh plus Ozil and Pea.
Personally mate i simply can't how you can lose whatever happens.

62 - you are spot on. Trips to Wembley should never be underestimated or taken for granted. An amazing day out and there’s some talent on the pitch to watch from both teams. It’s a one off game and if Rambo and Pea are on form plus Izil who knows

Paul Allen probably thought a trip to Wembley was a regular occurrence and that he would score next time for the Hammers. Never happened and now he can only look back on that great tackle on him as his Wembley moment.

Enjoy, soak in the Wembley atmosphere and just may be you get to see Wengers last trophy to restore a bit of that nostalgic happiness and respect.

COYG.

Haha SY mate

Made me chuckle you brought up that tackle.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Feb 2018 20:01:21
Changed football that tackle, from that moment the professional foul and an automatic red was only a matter of time.
Personally I prefer to ses a player held back by his shirt than chopped down, holding some back by their shirt is the extremely professional thing to do, stops a goal but the player stopped gets up unhurt.

Is anyone actually expecting a win ?
Right now to be honest I've kind of given up we could go out and win or get stuffed badly but the way it's been going for I struggle to get excited either way
Used to be fuming after a defeat but the constant disappointment's have worn me down even when we do win I have no faith that it means the team is improving and we are going to improve
For me as a an arsenal fan for the last 30 years this is the worst half the time I'm not even sure who's playing as I can't generate the interest to check any more

We have won 3 FA Cups over the past 4 seasons and who would have said we would beat Man C in last season's FA Cup Semi and then Chelsea, the League Champions, in the final. This season we beat Chelsea over 2 legs to reach the League Cup Final. Of course on paper we wouldn't win, but football throws up results against the run of form, with the likes of Wigan beating a strong City side in the FA Cup. Get behind Arsene and the team tomorrow and let's do our bit.

Not every team gets blown away by this city side, they are beatable and they have also had to rely on very late winning and point saving goals.
If a side is full of commitment fight effort determination passion they have a real chance against this city side.
I wonder if the Wigan players are available tomorrow :-)
