Paulista signs for us them with Joel Campbell going the other way on loan.

No surprise that Joel goes out on loan, he is some way down the pecking order

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Looks like a good deal on paper mate, lose where we're heavy and gain where we're light, only question is who made the decision Arsene or the players :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Not going to get excited until he gets his visa.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm sure he will be able to get a credit card mate he will be on decent wages, it's his work permit that worries me!

Joking aside I reckon that's been looked in to and it'll be fine

Agree0 Disagree0

With other potential options available for similar money, why has Wenger opted for Paulista, who has only a 50/50 chance of getting a work permit? Is it a case of "oh well we tried" if the work permit is not forthcoming, and they can tick the "kept the fans happy even though we didn't actually spend any cash" box? I have to confess, I haven't seen Paulista play, so is he head and shoulders above the other potentials to warrant the additional visa issue risk?

Agree0 Disagree0

There is no way they would spend that sort of money on a 50-50 chance, he will get a work permit i'm sure.

If you listen to some of the Spanish pundits, Paulista is very highly rated over there and young as well as versatile

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the deal will be agreed on a proviso that the work permit will be forthcoming 337. No permit no deal. My point is that why choose a player, in a one month window, where that complication exists. If it falls through will we have enough time to go elsewhere? This would not be an issue with the Celtic player (van something. forget his name). so I can only assume that this Paulista fella is a much better player?

Welcome to Arsenal Gabriel Paulist.

With Campbell going the other way on loan, does this leave us a little bit short up front?

Maybe Wenger plans on playing Cazorla, Rosicky and Ozil more in wide areas. Or Gnabry will get more game time.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Short up front?? Is that a joke?? Can't tel if you're bein sarcastic. we have Alexis, Walcott, ox and welbeck and possibly gnarby!

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jan 2015 03:34:13
You need at least two players in each position. Between the striker and two wingers (in our starting line up) we have Giroud, Welbeck, Sanchez, Ox, Walcott and Gnabry. One or two injuries and we will be very light upfront.

Sanogo, Podolski and Campbell all out on loan does leave us a bit light up top. Before the window we definatly had a surplus of forwards, now I think perhaps we sold one too many. Not sure if we can expect some to come in. Maybe we should have kept Podolski.

Agree0 Disagree0

I get your perspective Detroit. Hopefully this means a marque in the summer . Cavani or such?

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jan 2015 05:51:57
We can only dream.

Agree0 Disagree0

Would we be able to recall any of the ayers we are sending out on loan? Surely we would have left that option open for emergencies

Just won £2.6m on tonights lottery.

So, I made a cuppa and put a DVD on.

Celebrate? No no no.

(I don't think this 'celebrate' thing is going to go away too soon, lol. All good banter though).

To be honest Dags I was thinking wtf did that come from with ed01's reply, I'd not heard a single thing about the players being dug out for over celebration and just though wtf, who dragged that load of carp up assuming it must have been that stroker AD.

I'd just seen Caz doing that little Celebration and the Ox giving him a piggy back off the pitch.

Next thing I know WWIII.

Normally I'd congratulate you on such a big win, but Phuck it I'm not risking it ;-)

Brilliant day for the underdogs and the cup itself but the competition doesn't need to many more shocks this round.
Arsenal/man u / Liverpool v Bradford final has all the ingredients needed to keep interest high across the nation but a Bradford. V Cambridge final although romantic would hold little interest outside the clubs involved come the final its self

Believable0 Unbelievable0

24 Jan 2015 19:01:17
Oohh I don't know G62,

If we get knocked out, I think a Bradford/Cambridge final would be very refreshing, as well as, undoubtedly entertaining.

Plus, I think it would give the FA Cup a massive shot in the arm, certainly in terms of it's flagging 'magic'.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sounds refreshing I know Dags but in reality it's the Johnson paint trophy revisited and would get a very low tv audience, to have blockbuster you either need two giants or a Rocky Balboa v Apolo Creed where all the neutrals unite behind the underdog hoping for an upset

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jan 2015 21:11:45
I don't know G62,

If it was, for example, a Liverpool v Utd final or Man City v Chelsea, I would be 50/50 if I watch it.

Bradford v Cambridge? (For example).
Yes, I would definitely watch it because its something different, and probably more entertaining.

Agree0 Disagree0

It would probably also have the lowest ever viewing figures Dags

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jan 2015 22:00:25
I don't know Bambam,

I reckon more 'neutral's' will tune in than if it was City v Chelsea for example.

Agree0 Disagree0

Anybody seen that film about a boy trapped below a German Shepard. Great underdog story

Jeez Derby :-)

Only just managed to stop laughing, fantastic day of cup results. Anyone reckon we could defend our title this year?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

24 Jan 2015 17:54:53
Early days yet, but why not.

Would love Liverpool and West Ham to go out.

Today has been a great day.

Agree0 Disagree0

We have to play yet

Agree0 Disagree0

Swansea out, chelski out, man city out, Saints out, spurs out, It is only Arsenal and Liverpool now.
Honestly Arsenal has no excuse for not defending the cup title.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jan 2015 21:14:00
Aussie,

I think Utd might have something to say about that mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lets hope some other underdog does that job for us again ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jan 2015 16:59:44
Surely there has been enough cup upsets today that there can't be any tomorrow??

Believable0 Unbelievable0

24 Jan 2015 17:31:00
Wouldn't mind Bristol City turning over West Ham.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jan 2015 17:36:07
And Bolton to beat the Scoosers.

Yes please.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jan 2015 16:58:28
Well

spurs are out

M City are out

Chelsea are out

Southampton are out

What a chance we have of retaining the cup

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I wonder what Moaninho will say ." The wind was against us, the paint on the pitch was against us, the U.N was against us, Everyone is against us, even my dog is against us "

Agree0 Disagree0

Got to avoid palace, Leicester, Bradford and Middlesbrough. They are the form teams. He he. Bring on manc u, oops sorry they and us aren't through yet. Still easy win for us and we don't care who we get.

Agree0 Disagree0

With all theese shocks, let's wait til we've played first!

Agree0 Disagree0

Bradford tweet "Jose Mourinho has just been in an ecstatic away dressing room to congratulate every City player and staff member. A real touch of class" so credit where its due

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jan 2015 17:57:16
Typical Mourinho.

To be fair, he does personally congratulate 'lower teams' if they do well against Chelsea.

Respect.

Agree0 Disagree0

For such a horrible person who stoops lower than a hamster's belly 99% of the time he sometimes does some really nice things few other's would have the humility to do

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah right, that's all about 'his' image, his team have embarrassed him but yet again he will come up smelling of roses, he probably gave his number to the best players to try and sign them

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jan 2015 18:30:23
Top 3 prem sides all go out at 4th round of FA Cup at home mancs drawing at cambridge oh and how sad the spurs lose at home as well. The magic of the FA Cup

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree g62 its weird that he occasionally does things completely against the grain of his usual character. 337 might have it right that its all about his image, but then the usual nonsense he spouts doesn't do much for his image. so if he did things just for the image you would imagine he would be congratulating everybody and not leaving 5 mins before a games ended

Agree0 Disagree0

Trust me the guys a genius when it comes to playing games, nobody is talking about how poor they were they're all talking about his actions after! Pure genius!

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jan 2015 16:54:39
It look's like 4th place and an FA Cup again this year.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

24 Jan 2015 16:53:27
People always say has the fa cup lost its magic, ask Middlesbrough and Bradford fans and I bet they say "no".

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I am feeling 3rd and the FA cup and a deep CL run. Don't forget ManU are pretty much rubbish this year ;-))

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jan 2015 14:07:09
Here's an interesting-ish question. Ozil likely to have to earn his place from the wing again according to AW.

Is beefcake Ozil going to be better on the wing than featherweight Ozil? Should he be rotated with Cazorla in the middle until the better player stands up?

What happens to the Ox or Walcott?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Apparently he has been told to stay off the weights as he is overdoing it, and is likely to start tmrw

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jan 2015 10:40:47
Today's poll question.

Will Arsenal beat Brighton?

Ed001, C'mon mate, what sort of controversial question is that? Lol.

(Friendly pop at Red Dog) smiley face.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The question is should we celebrate if we do beat them :-)
Plus how much celebration would be appreciate?
Life was much more simpler when we were predictably humiliated in big games :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jan 2015 11:39:33
To be fair I was of the same opinion re the question, I never saw a hint of anyone in the British news, TV or otherwise who were having a go at Arsenal for celebrating, it was all about what a great game we played and from what ed01 said in another reply it was the foreign press who started the story.

Which answered my question as to where the hell it had come from.

Did anyone actually witness this over the top excessive celebration other than the same bit I saw of Santi being carried off by the Ox.

Agree0 Disagree0

62
Every win should be celebrated like its our last
Lets get that winning run going

Agree0 Disagree0

If wenger picks the tactics it might be a draw. If the players pick the tactics ( a la sheik citeh) 2-0 . Suprising admition by wenger.

Agree0 Disagree0

In view of Arsene's admitting it was player power that forced the tactics changes that worked so superbly its not surprising the players were so excited by getting a result playing a style they believed in.
Does seem they felt they'd won the biggest battle before they even went on to the pitch and city were easy pickings compared to getting Arsene to change his ways :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Gunner ship without a rudder springs to mind.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well Steve let's hope the players just showed the ships captain what a rudder is and how to use it and he actually sees the impotantace of it from now on, I don't see the players ever walking the plank again after sundays success no matter how much Arsene assures them the water isn't wet this time

Agree0 Disagree0

After todays results it seems like a reasonable question! :P

The Samuel Eto'o transfer to Sampdoria has been cancelled.

He was about to sign the contract but Kevin Mirallas ran in and took the pen.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Now that is funny!

Who's helping you with your new jokes this one was very good.

24 Jan 2015 14:59:15

I do have feelings you know, lol.

Annoying result for Manchester United tonight.

An FA Cup replay at home to Cambridge Utd doesn't help their title chall-

Their Champs Lea-

Their League Cu-

Their pitch.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The Swedish chef is at it again, he's blamed the stadium, the ref, the pitch the weather, pretty much everyone and everything!

Were both teams not playing on the same pitch then?

24 Jan 2015 09:57:26
337,

Butthead is a joke.

Would be nice if he gave a bit of credit to Cambridge Utd.

Agree0 Disagree0

My thoughts exactly, I think his days are numbered - Moyes should have been given more time. Like I always say to the AW out squad "be careful what you wish for"

I have to say, since he left it has been proved what a fantastic manager old red nose really was.

Agree0 Disagree0

From his press conference I sensed he was a bit peeved off
I hope cambridge get stuck in and do a job on them
Like they used to on us .some of the tackles Reyes had where nothing short of criminal

Agree0 Disagree0

Van gaal is pissing me off now. More up himself than Jose. The 352 formation will not work.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jan 2015 13:59:49
"everything was against us" except you had the most expensive team in england

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jan 2015 16:47:29
To be fair to Van Gaal he has amassed some top talent at United and many of them would have looked right at home in a great Cambridge side! ;-)

Only joking, more like Donkey World down at Sidmouth!

Agree0 Disagree0

Are you from devon stoner? I live 10 miles from sidmouth!
