How many times?

Mustard not custard.

What slow and sloppy :-)
Just joking Maidstone mate, hope your right and I'm wrong but I think he'll spend a lot of time on the floor and with hands on hips looking at the ref whenever he loses the ball.
Proof me wrong Jack please

I thought the same thing Banbury when I read that Arsene was considering using Jack as CDM, pick you're most fragile player to take the biggest battering.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jul 2014 22:26:17
Can I just say 2 things.

Firstly,
Ed007, Can I just offer you my sincerest apologies.
When I set up "Spursman" it was purely to raise extra banter on the Arsenal page.
I did not think it would be anything different to a Bona Fide Spurs supporter coming on here to exchange banter.
My intentions were purely for fun and banter, no malice was intended.
I obviously didn't think of the 'hassle' it would cause you Ed's and the IT boys, and for this, I offer my sincerest apologies and the heartfelt promise it won't happen again.

Secondly,
Why do some people have a pop at Goldboy?
The man is Arsenal through and through.
Yes, he has posted about Wilshere a few times, and indeed Sanogo.
But, so what. The thing I like about Goldboy is he speaks from the heart.
Not everything is a bed of roses being an Arsenal supporter, but Goldboy say's it as it is.
And if you can't express an opinion on this site, without fear of being ridiculed and called "unloyal", than the Ed's might as well shut this site down.
If you don't agree with Goldboy, than say something in your post and give your argument, without treating him like a mug.
Goldboy is a bloody nice bloke and a true Gooner, he just speaks his mind. That's what this site is all about.

Once again, sorry Eds.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - We'll call this a yellow card then. Seriously though, cheers Dags, it's all water under the bridge but I'm glad you can see our point of view. Now let's say no more about it.}

24 Jul 2014 22:50:52
Ed007,

As a gesture I will make Celtic my 2nd team for the season, lol.

C'mon you Hula Hoop's, ;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

We all speak our mind Dags and we are all True gooners. Certain subjects really divide opinion but when one subject is repeated it gets boring and if someone counters that post then toys get thrown out the pram. If people don't want to have people counter their posts don't post it!

Agree0 Disagree0

In agreement dags, no point in having all these gooners with the same view, hope that gold doesn't stop posting because people have a go, he's got some great points and like you say, speaks from an Arsenal heart.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jul 2014 23:31:11
I hear you Rocky mate but people (I don't know who) shouldn't question somebody's loyalty to Arsenal just because they express an opinion, not matter how many times they repeat their post.

Remember, people tend to talk about negative things during the close season because it's more of a talking point, ie people are more likely to talk about Jack's indifferent form rather than Koscielny or Mert's great season. t

Agree0 Disagree0

Dags in the words of the eds
Read the post. No one slagged him off or questioned his loyalty. It was simply put that It's boring.
The toys came out the pram when the opinion was challenged.
End of discussion for me. Atmosphere has changed somewhat in here recently and considering the positive goings on at Arsenal right now it's a real shame.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - the banter is still fine for me rocky, supporters will always disagree mate, we just move on..

I am over it Dags, and I think with everyone else in hoping that its discussion dries up.

glad you are still here as you bring a lot of color to the board and a fair degree of common sense, while still being open minded to other Arsenal views and other teams supporters. checked out a few other boards and dull as dishwater (except Liverpool for some reason).

Cheers!

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jul 2014 00:24:10
Who questioned his loyalty to Arsenal?
Just re-read the whole conversation and only me and Rocky passed a comment on his insistence to rinse Jack at every opportunity. and then he massively overreacted, AGAIN!

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jul 2014 01:20:17
Thank you Red.

Fair comment Gents, its just that I remember it happened a little while back as well, I'm not saying it was you two boys, because it wasn't.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jul 2014 01:21:02
Sorry Dags but I have to agree, goldboy does chuck his toys far to easy.
He makes some very valid points sometimes, but when challenged he let's himself down.

I don't doubt his loyalty for 1 second.

Agree0 Disagree0

You were spurs man? Since when? I need to start paying more attention!

I'm only going to give my opinion on it once: it's ridiculous. The spursman stuff wasn't banter. There was not one thing he said that I bothered to reply to and while he was posting I didn't post anything once. While it was happening, I believed I was reading the opinion of a school kid. The arguments were poorly put forward, it's was deliberately provocative, and it was incredibly repetitive. I couldn't help thinking how sad the person or 'troll' must be to insist on doing that. To find out its a fellow gooner makes it worse! To find out it was a grown man makes it worse. Why would you want to speak such trash, be offensive to people you apparently like and derogatory about your own football club? To then try to dress it up as banter is ridiculous. Whether or not you think it was banter I don't know. But banter that was not. You were being a typical Internet troll, deliberately or not. I think you're lucky you haven't been banned, and the only reason you haven't been is because you're fairly well liked. Most other people would have been.

Agree0 Disagree0

Seriously Chimney that's a bit strong and uncalled for, the issue was dealt with by the Eds leave it go. Dags has apologised for something that was a bit of fun that back fired. Its not your place to slap anybody on the wrists on this site. Its the Eds who do that. In my opinion your post is antagonistic and unwarranted.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jul 2014 08:32:56
Chimney,
You are obviously entitled to your opinion, but I can't see how any of it was offensive in any way.

Not once did I make a derogatory or offensive remark to any person, indeed some of the remarks/ opinions mentioned "Dags" in particular.

Yes, on reflection, it was a silly thing to do, but not sure how anybody could have got as upset about it as you obviously were.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - you never saw some of the replies I deleted Dags, though I agree, I don't think the posts were offensive otherwise they would never have gone through. It is simply that most people seem to take offence purely at the thought that a Spurs fan was here. Just shows how sad some people are that they can be so nasty hiding behind a comp just because someone supports a different team than their own chosen team.}

25 Jul 2014 13:16:16
Thanks Ed and Paul V

Agree0 Disagree0

Great reply 025, personally I welcome banter from all as long as its topical or if its going to be having a dig it should be friendly and it has to be funny.
I have probably posted on the Everton and Liverpool pages around 10 times each last season usually in the run up to games between us and if we didn't win, post match congrats.
I think its about respect we all love our clubs and swapping opinions as long as inoffensive is interesting.
Sometimes its good to get others opinions as theirs is less passionate and possibly more balanced about your own club

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - that reply was by ED001 mate..

24 Jul 2014 22:25:21
Going to stick my neck out and say I think Wilshere will do well in the anchor role, he can dictate the pace of the game and at 22 he has time to develop, remember last season, people were saying Ramsey should go, he was 22.

The problem with Wilsh playing deep is that he has tendencies to bomb forward and try to beat 3 players, beats one and falls of him arse. If he can irradiate that from his game, he can be crucial to our season.

I have been one of his biggest critics the past season, and was one of Ramsey's the season before that, believing in him still. And I do with jack, he can be brilliant and this season will make or brake him, in my opinion it will make him, he will go strength to strength, just please Jack, stay off your arse and off the fags!

24 Jul 2014 22:59:09
Akie,

Going to disagree with you me old mukka.

I think to be a true DM, you need to be disciplined.

Would you say Jack was disciplined?
No way. He gets rattled all the time and would be giving away free kicks left right and centre.

Plus, a DM sometimes needs to just 'hoof' it, Jack will always try to play it out. That could be costly in the long run.

Just my opinion.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jul 2014 23:12:13
My problem with him though is he does recklessly go into challenges at times. Maybe that's age I dunno and tbh he does not seem tough enough. He has the mouth don't get me wrong but he seems made of glass. I'm not saying you're wrong and it won't work. Just I'm unsure

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jul 2014 23:29:15
I want all the best for Wilshere but he's Scholes like in the tackle, he would need a huge improvement in his defensive game to play holding

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jul 2014 23:35:13
Agree D16 and Sheeny,

The reason Jack gets injured a lot is because he has (sometimes) an appalling first touch.

He loses the ball, than overstretches to win it back.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jul 2014 00:20:36
Exactly dags. However he is 22 right? Still got so many years left to work on his game.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jul 2014 01:25:00
D16,

I think the bottom line is we are all frustrated with Jack as we see the potential he has and we all just want him to be a world beater.

If he turns into a great player than Arsenal will become a great(er) team as a result.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jul 2014 12:45:38
"Scholes in the tackle". Best description I've heard. Good one. Yeah, jack needs to play on the front foot. He can be brilliant when he does.

Hi gang I think we should all drop the joke's and accusations about people using other names etc on this site, we all know there's no malice in Dags what so ever but what stated out as a harmless joke has upset some of the Eds, in hind site very understandably as the potential to ruin the site is obviously very great.
As said we all know Dags and he's the last person to want to cause offence to anyone but from now on I think least said soonest mended as I was told when a kid.
I'm trying to tell anyone what to post but just for the sake of the Eds I think we should all myself included drop the subject, thanks for reading

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Why? Did they walk backwards from Brazil, whilst
Balancing a performing seal on their head?

Jeez, in the past 10 years I have had a total of 2 weeks off work plus a few days over Xmas and new year.

By the time season starts they would have had a month off.

Wenger said something about him being obliged by fifa to give them 4 weeks off. so that takes them to about a week before the palace game.

I'm pretty sure we're going to see Mesut back to his very best this season ( very exciting thought) plus Aaron somehow find yet another gear to go up to and the Ox becoming even more more influential in games on a regular basis all of which can't be anything but great news for us all.
If we can just nail that elusive quality holding player we might just take some stopping

Great post G62,

Don't forget Theo back to his best and the arrival of Sanchez.

Agree with the DM, we need one.

Absolutely agree on Theo and Sanchez mate I'm thinking of them being on the receiving end of fantastic service from the MF, unbelievably exciting if we can just nail down one of those pesky holding players, slippery
Iittle characters them boys it would seem

Agree0 Disagree0

A holding midfielder is what we need, I am sure AW and his team are hard at work, the search for a striker is no more IMO.

I just hope we don't see a mass of departures, continuity is key

Agree with Bambam,

We need a dedicated DM.

Let the flair players do their flairy stuff, knowing if they lose the ball, the back 4 will be protected.

When Chelsea dominated the Prem, the likes of Drogba, Robben and Lampard took the plaudits, but the real hero was Claude Makelele was the real unsong hero who sat in front of back 4 and made them impregnable.

We need a Makelele.

Schneiderlin for me.

ED002, Hi there. Can u please give us an update on our defensive midfield targets.
1. Khedira, are we stil in negotiations or did we shift our interest elsewhere?
2. Carvalho, are we ganna come back with a better bid or rather a bid, if th first one was an enquiry?
3. Schneiderlin, is he now our current main target?
4. Bender(cant leave him out of the questions), do u suspect us bidding for him?

Thanxxx in advance

Another one if you would Ed.
After reading Wengers quotes regarding Wilshire as a DM, I didn't read it as, we won't be getting a new DM this window. In fact, Wenger was quoted the other day as saying we WILL go for a midfielder. Is my assumption that Wenger will go for a DM this window, despite playing Jack there, a good one, or, should we be worried we will start another season with any steel in midfield?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Arsenal are looking.}

I think the Jack playing the holding role is a target Arsene has given him to aim for and not a plan A or B for this season, its carrot to get his life in order imo.
Personally I think we will sign a top class DMF in this widow but if not its between Artetta and Flamini who plays there and Jack well he'll either shape up or be a hammer or similar this time next year

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - there is a lot of competition in that midfield now G62, and to be honest i cant see him getting many starts mate..

Couldn't agree more Ed, some hang on to the belief he will reach the great heights we all thought he would 2 years ago but they are an ever shrinking group.
Aaron should be his role model but sadly in terms of attitude they are chalk and cheese, Jack has much more in common with Frimpong unfortunately another who two years ago looked set for greatness but is now unwanted by Barnsley, I fear Jack's destiny is to become an unhappy hammer

Hi Ed,
I read a quote from Jackson Martinez agent, saying that the price for him " is as reported, over €20m (£16m)". After reading his "release clause" to be £35m, this seems more like a price Wenger may go for. Would Martinez be available for around that price? And, do you see Wenger moving for him at that price?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I really don't want to discuss money.}

I would be surprised if we went for him unless his price was an absolute steal. He is already 27 so no real 'sell on value' at the end of the contract, which we all know seems to be a preference of Arsene.

Was wondering if one of the EDS could help me out here please? I just read an article on ssn that stated Michelle Whatshisface from Swandiff has made his move to Spurs, but mentions something about a big club coming in for him. Anyone else finding this transfer window strangely relaxing after the past few years? Mind you I miss the Malaga and other crazed sightings. No one heard anything from a mini cab driver who transported Pogba's twin dachshunds and his favourite jumper to a secret Arsenal safe house in Brentwood because he left them behind at his holiday palace on the Cote D'Azur in his rush to meet Arsene?

It's been far too sensible and full of fact, not FACT! this year.

That said, a CDM and an experienced central defender and an out and out selfish striker would be nice, as it's Thursday.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Not far off where I am at, in Arsene we trust!

Thought of the day, maybe no emergency for CDM - I doubt Arteta is prepping for a year of sitting on the bench and Flamini is a super back up at multiple positions. Look how quickly teams were interested in Arteta when they thought he might be available.

We need a kid with Viera like potential to come in here and learn. Also, need to sort out TV5 situation whether he is replaced or stays, fine wither way. Rather than bring in 4 starters and bench or lose our current studs (I am talking about you Cazorla) I think we need good depth and character to support, that's why Flamini was such a big hit last year.

Let's win it with what we've got. Maybe a complimentary striker to Giroud but not replacement.
Don't hold it against me but I like this team and I love Arsenal!

I have seen in a newspaper which is a bull s--- specialist saying we have inquired about Roberto firmino Brazilian striker for hoffenhiem. 22 years of age. The guy is incredible. Sod neymar. 16 goals and 11 assists. Lewandowski got 21 goals in many more games and Marco reus got 13 assists. The guy can dribble, serious pass first touch everything. He is fantastic. Apparently inter put in a 8 mil bid. I watch a lot of German football. He was the best striker in the German league. And done all this playing for hoffenhiem. Imagine what he can do for arsenal.
Come wenger pull your finger out and go for it.

{Ed007's Note - I'm not happy about it all and anyone I catch will be banned and blocked, no matter who they are. I thought we were meant to be adults, we've got enough to do without people playing silly buggars.}

My thoughts exaclty. I get that some people may have to create excitement in their lives, but it is unfair on the people that use this site for information and enjoyment. Its a football and Arsenal site, us gooners are supposed to have class!

Agree0 Disagree0

Its been a bummer.

Agree0 Disagree0

Am I missing something? I've not been using the site very much as some irritating little tottenham fan who's name escapes me was posting on everything and it was annoying me. Funnily enough, I look at the spurs page a lot also, and it seems that some arsenal fans post on there pretending to be spurs fans. Doesn't bother me too much, but I wouldn't like it if it was on here. But on to your original point, I hate dishonest persons who do stuff like that, so I hope whoever it was was banned. Though I guess it'll only be until the end of the school holidays because the sad acts that do it have got to be at school, or something really strange is going on in their lives.

Arsenal have gone very quiet over the last few days, I don't know if Wenger thinks signing those kids he got a couple of days ago are going to make the difference this season or if the pre-season prep is keeping AW busy. Any ideas eds?

Nonetheless it seems outbound activity is still happening and talk of Santi leaving seem to be all that's out there. i'd be gutted to see the little man go, I think his class is permanent and i'd need to see Rambo continue playing like last season without any injury before we let Cazorla go.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

A few days ago it was poldi all set to leave.
I think arsene has realised we need more squad depth so I'd take many of these rumours lightly. Including the ones about inbound players.

That said, compared to previous seasons we have had a bit more advance warning of our signings

Do any of the eds or anyone with real first hand knowledge know truly what happened a few years ago when we appeared to panic buy arteta and mert?

Was it a panic buy or were late deals planned all along? We're we in for someone else that fell through?

Any input greatly appreciated. Thanks all

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Basically we got smashed 8-2 at old trafford so Wenger went down to Aldi with the penny jar and just bought anything he could.

There was no forward planning, just knee-jerk reaction.

Personally I get the feeling that aside from Ospina that's our transfer window now done.

Just because we've got 70+ mil still available to spend doesn't mean well spend it, as anyone with a grip on cold reality knows.

Jack Wilshere in defensive midfield. - yep that sounds about right from the guy who has played Bendtner on the right wing, Wilshere left wing, Ramsey anywhere etc etc.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jul 2014 11:27:52
While the window so far has been good, I still feel if we don't get a top striker, a top def mid a top keeper and if verm leaves a top center back, we haven't moved on. Our issues from last season are still unsorted.

Come on schneiderlin. It's transfer Thursday and you've got a website/discussion board to entertain. Get and sign on the dotted line!

In all seriousness. If he does sign, one of our best coups in years imo. Massively underrated. Consistently solid in the prem and sits real deep. Modest financial wants and a good age.

Let the rest of the team play how they play without fear of a counter attack!

I'm sencing a little mistrust on the site since Mala - I mean dagenhams bombshell, when he admitted that "Tonight Matthew I'm going to be Spursman." So in this time of confession I feel as though I need to come clean.

The truth is I post on here as dagenham gunner, gunner62, Jenny Taylor, Sheeny, Greeny, GOLDBOY, Lakerville, Imired, D16, Exiled Clock Ended, akie, Outback, 1404, Stoner, steve.r, BgdGooner, Rocky VII, poly, HCF, MgM, AJH, (that was my three letter phase I was going through) mofaya, EppingGooner, Red Rooster, Willesden Gooner, Henry's Cat, Sydney Gunner, Sharkie91, thailand gooner, theMessenger, Goonerink, Baz136, yyc, Jonny_Page, PL2 gooner, batch, Little Gunner, Beer Drinking Gooner, gOOner83, gooner83 (something a bit different) Carlisle
gunner, OzilBaggins, NIALLI, peanutgooner, Scottish GOONERS, g1bby. AFC_Bacon, CTR and many more.

The truth is there are only two genuine people who visit this site, and I'm both of them. Apart from that everything you see is the truth. If you have any questions for any of the Eds, just let them know and I'll try and answer them as soon as possible. I've let myself down in so many different guises.

At least there won't be any responses to this post as I'm out for the rest of the day.

I see the media are saying Jacks going to be our DMF next season, yes of course he is sweethearts along with Caz in goal and Mert as our new speedy winger.
Where do they get this stuff from, Dags?

Wenger has said recently that he sees him as a deep lying mid. and that he is better facing the play than with his back to the goal, agresive in the tackle etc.

So I'm kinda worried that's what he is going to go with. We need a proven enforcer

I been absent for a while the reason being I find this time of year a bit boring with all the speculation talk and repetition. Much prefer the banter when the season starts.
Anyhow! I fancy a bit of a whinge and its aimed at Jack Wilshere. let's all stop pampering him its getting a bit ridiculous. I think a lot of people are remembering this 16 year old kid with so much potential. Well he is now getting on for 23 married and has a family HE IS NOT A KID ANYMORE!.
Wenger is going to put him in a new role supposedly.
Ok give it a go why not? But in the meantime let it be known that if he doesn't up his game he is on the list to go.
Arsenal have been more than patient with him there is no denying that. Forget about his off field antics if he wants a smoke he is going to do it. His problem is he is too thick to do it discretely.
It's on the pitch that concerns me and it looks like he is going to be given this new role at the expense of us signing one or two new players.
I have seen nothing consistantly in the last 2 seasons that makes me want to say wow! what a dynamite player he is. Just snippets here and there. Not good enough.
His injuries are well known. On the pitch he has taken to falling over at every opportunity matter of fact he is getting quite pathetic and this is coming from an Arsenal supporter of over 50 years.
Would I sell him? Going on the last couple of years? Yes in a heart beat! We could well upgrade Jack as we are really getting nothing out of him.

{Ed025's Note - he has not been at his best for a good while now golds, maybe this new role is last chance saloon, the guy is very talented, but your right when you say he has been under performing mate..

Completely agree, Wilshere is an angry little man that needs to calm down and try play the game.

I honestly would pick Arteta over him. And on his day I think Diaby would be a better choice. Trouble is we don't have anyone who is a straight up DM. We have bag fulls of CM. But most are fairly attack minded. If were going to play 1 CDM and 2 more attack minded, then we have to pick out of Ramsey, Ozil, Diaby, Rosicky, Cazorla and Ox to name but a few. And I would put Wilshere near the bottom of the list.

Hes too keen on picking up the ball and attracting fouls 35-40 yards from goal, when considering how good we are on the counter, doesn't really make sense.

Funny how you mention boring and repetitive and post the same old thing about Jack.

I'm not the only one whose noted you've done it under a variety of guises.

It is not rocket science to see he needs to come good this season with some great performances but nothing has changed since you last whined about him.

It's pre season, let's seen how he gets on when the season is underway.

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope it is just media bull dung and not us getting tight on shelling out on a top quality def mid. Jack is not up to the job.

24 Jul 2014 16:42:43
haha brilliant Stoner!
I agree, move on Golds!
He's not lived up to potential, but still nowhere near as bad as you've been making out!
He's a gooner, let's get behind him!

Don't understand "the under different guises comment " Never done that at all.
Are you going to tell me and other people that he had been the business . Why do people think that because he plays for Arsenal he shouldn't get a bit of criticism.
Why are you having a dig at me? I'm saying what a lot of people are thinking. What do you want to hear that he has been the best player on the team for us the greatest thing we have produced.
Alright 'then "what a fantastic player and ambassador he is for Arsenal greatest player we have had for ages."
Is that ok?
Be real . I don't mind people disagreeing but please don't accuse me and slag me off. It's not on really. I'm not some sort of mug truthfully.

{Ed007's Note - Can we drop all this BS about people posting under other names, see what happens when one person tries to be a smart ar$e? Anyone caught posting under multiple accounts will be blocked.
Why should we do all this for nothing when people are trying to rip the pi$$ out of it and us?}

Yes he has to step up but look at Rambo had a stormer last season and that's what he has to get to, a fag and a bevy on holiday is fine as long as he is focused and picks his game up, can still be class on his day, not sure whether DM is the way forward though very doubtful does not suit his game and he is eons away from being gs19 just my opinion

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - and its a fair one HC, if he got his act together he would be like a new signing mate..

24 Jul 2014 20:37:05
Ed007. Thanks mate I appreciate it. You boys would have been the first to have known if anyone was posting under different names. Pity people have to be popped off I thought we were all on the same side here.

{Ed007's Note - To be honest we all expected better as well, we'll just need to be more vigilant now, we'll probably get other clowns trying it now no doubt.}
