Charlie Austin...

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2015 11:07:24
Hi eds

Do you think our pursuit of benzema is completely dependant on real signing aguero? Also do you feel it will be benzema or nobody in our pursuit of a striker?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed030's Note - I doubt Real Madrid will not allow Benzema to leave without a replacement. }

24 Jun 2015 18:54:48
Can't see RM letting Benz go because City won't let Aguero leave.

Charlie Austin. No brainer.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2015 20:18:39
Yes Dags he is a no brainer - just been watching him play for under 21s... I use the term play loosely.

Agree1 Disagree1

24 Jun 2015 21:17:20
I think that's danny ings mate?!?

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2015 21:19:58
Charlie Austin is 25 and of course not in the U21s squad

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2015 21:33:55
Exiled,

He was so bad he looked like Danny Ings :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2015 21:53:37
Not quite on wave with this Austin gag dags. But his scoring record is unbelievable everywhere he's been

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2015 23:05:13
You are of course all perfectly correct - I was so bored with the whole thing that I lost track of the world completely - the black label helped considerably. My apologies to Dags especially.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2015 23:07:52
Absolutely Browgun,

I know he is not a massive name, but he could do a massive job for us.

25 Jun 2015 07:58:32
Well wrighty came from similar background and look what he did for us

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2015 17:40:42
I see we are now favourites to sign Morgan Schneiderlin, get him and leaves us just wanting a striker

Believable0 Unbelievable0

24 Jun 2015 18:53:17
Apparently, we are clear favourites to sign him, odds of 1/2.

Would love him at Emirates.

And Charlie Austin.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed030's Note - I wouldn't pay any attention to the odds mate. }

24 Jun 2015 19:55:17
I know Ed030,

I'm just clutching at any straw that we get Schneiderlin :-)

Ssn reporting that chelsea and man c are reportedly trying to acquire the services of Alex Song. Now, I don't really want Mr Song more than I want Carvallho or any of the two saints lads, but I just thought that we would be trying to get him as I don't believe Barca would command a huge fee, just thought we'd be interested. Any thoughts?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

24 Jun 2015 18:32:29
He would be bought to make up quotas at man c and chel, he would rarely play. We don't want him on our bench and he is not up to standard to challenge for a place. he's not a top player, he's not young and we don't need to go back there, we need to aim higher and better.

24 Jun 2015 18:57:04
Started off like an express train at West Ham.

After Xmas he was more like Thomas The Tank Engine.

No thanks.

24 Jun 2015 19:03:59
Agreed Steve, it would be a backward step, we need to MOVE on :)

24 Jun 2015 23:00:08
5mil he's still a decent player

24 Jun 2015 14:29:51
Just read a article from the DM with pellegrini talking about mourinho again . He seems like a relaxed cool guy but whenever mourinho is mentioned he seems to lose it, same with wenger! They just need to cool it and stop taking the bait, its exactly what mourinho wants with the whole 'mind games' thing he plays . But I admit i do like Arsenes little digs at mourinho but just for now stop the talking and let the players do the talking on the pitch because that's where it counts and after this season maybe arsenal can make mourinho eat his words

Believable0 Unbelievable0

24 Jun 2015 14:50:20
Can I get some counselling too?

Agree0 Disagree2

24 Jun 2015 16:36:27
the better the team you have the more you can gloat. i don't remember mourinho gloating or winning any mind games with madrid, did he not go all mental doing the eye poke?

24 Jun 2015 14:21:28
Anyone here watched William Carvalho play? I just want to know where the hype and price tag comes from is he really that great? I've heard he's the destroyer type but likes to push up field but that's just what I've heard/read. Think arsenal would be better off pushing for a move for schneiderlin or wanyama (who id personally prefer)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

24 Jun 2015 14:57:46
You can't say we would be better off with Schniederlin or Wanyama after you've just stated that you're not very familiar with Carvalho - what are you basing it on? What you've heard and read?

From what I've seen, Carvalho is the kind of player who is composed on the ball and sits back and usually looks for the simple pass when he gains possession. He can play CDM or CB, although unlike Coquelin, he does drift forward every now and then (like to the edge of the 18 yard box area) and he knows how to put the ball in the back of the net with a decent left foot. I'd say he's less aggressive than Wanyama yet more defensively minded than Schneiderlin.

Charlie Austin?

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2015 22:24:09
I said it because there proven premier league players who wouldn't need time to adapt to the league mate , that's what I based my opinion on . Alright thanks

24 Jun 2015 14:02:47
I saw a post further down and it has been stated regularly, that the reason le coq was a great addition to the team last season was just because he made interceptions and then sat back and so that's the exact type of player we need. While I agree, I think the main difference we need is someone who does the same thing but has a great distribution, a Carrick in his prime like distribution for example, but then also sits back. So wins the ball, and lays it off in a way that gets the attack flowing straight away. Of which coquelin lacks but will obviously improve. I don't think I have watched schneiderlin enough to say that he is our man but it definitely sounds like he has those qualities

Believable0 Unbelievable0

24 Jun 2015 19:02:49
So does Arteta the mentor ;-))

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2015 19:20:20
Henry while I totally respect your point of view mate but if you get chance look through a few old game from last season and concentrate on only Le Coq, you'll be amazed how many attacks he starts and how quickly he switches defence into attack.
I know some DMs play 40 yard passes they are spectacular to see but Le Coq is just as effective but in a more subtle way, even his interpretations very often turn into a simple but really effective pass that switches every thing round from defence to attack in an instant.
He really is more than just a stopper he is very much an unsung game changer

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Jun 2015 20:15:57
Le Coq was very nifty with the short quick passes in the Cup final, if his confidence continues to grow he can be all of that!

Fact is there would be times when he and Spyder could bully teams then and run them off the park like the Petit/Viera combo we all loved. I want to see this!

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jun 2015 08:57:04
HenryNostalgia I was one of those and I agree with you that someone who can pass as start the attacks is important, le coq did this, what i mean is after he does that he just sits, has no desire to then get involved in the rest of the build up and grab a goal, and there for if the move breaks down is never out of position as that cover shield. he is more interested in a clean sheet than an assist.
I may be wrong but I don't get that from Spyder, if we are looking for that kind of player then just use Jack in that position as he has done it for England and looked great. and if we get spyder to play with le coq, then there is no room for Caz, Ramsey, Wilshire?
don't get my wrong I like spyder I just personally don't believe he is what we need...... so now we will buy him and he will end up our player of the season and I will have to eat humble pie...

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Jun 2015 11:32:41
Was thinking the other on how I would have killed for kondogbia. The guy's class, a beast and the exact type of player we need. Not hating on Le Coq but I can't see him taking the dm position alone for the season and we're definitely a more attractive proposition than inter milan. My question is this: other than usual suspect schneiderlin( who i believe kondogbia is a better option over) who is a realistic signing we can make for the dm position?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

24 Jun 2015 11:56:58
I personally like the look of Krychowiak from Sevilla, no idea however whether a deal is possible or indeed whether we are even interested.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2015 12:34:57
If arsenal wanted kondogbia they could of got him but I suppose they have someone better in their plans?

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Jun 2015 13:05:21
personally I think Schneiderlin is all wrong for arsenal and I would much prefer wanyama.. the great thing about le coq is that he break up play and then sits... and allows the rest to play, but is always there as a shield as he doesn't make those runs forward, if we are looking for someone to cover/compete with him for that role then we need someone who is more interested in the clean sheet rather than making an assist or scoring a goal.
Don't get me wrong I like Schneiderlin but I feel in caz/ramsey/wilshire/ox we have enough players that can play centre and create but also at times remain disciplined.

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Jun 2015 13:09:33
It must be that bergooner. We can't have wanted him that badly. Inter must have been best offer on the table and that's saying something

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2015 14:32:41
Hopefully we have a good option lined up and don't end the window with no midfield signing(also preferably signed early to have a full pre season). We don't look like we're going to get the world class CF we need so we should atleast get the our already amazing midfield fully sorted now that the goalkeeper issue is solved.

Also, has anyone here thoroughly watched the sevilla lad and can give some feedback?

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2015 14:35:06
Agreed browgun. I've watched some Monaco games last season and some games he was class , some games very ordinary, but I guess that comes down to his age. If we want to win the title next season we can't hoping on potential of the player but down to a world class consistent performer who delivers all season round

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2015 17:02:48
Krychowiak seems decent enough ( Sevilla lad) if wengers going to stick with coq we defo could do with cover for him. Maybe a good option.

The window has just opened and its early days I can see us completing a couple of significant signings

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2015 09:37:41
I hope i am wrong but i really feel we have missed a trick with not signing Martinez.

I just feel that price, age, experience, selfishness were all right for us, I know that people will say he is to old and not played in a high standard of league, but this guy knows where the goal is, scored 7 goals in 8 champ league games last season in a average Porto side, is experienced, we don't need another young striker we need someone for now, this season coming, and at 25 million was cheaper than a lot of the defensive mids we are being linked with.. as I say I hope I am wrong and he doesn't not light up la liga next season, but I really do feel he will.

Cech
Belerin Gab Kos Monreal
Le Coq Caz
Ox Ozil Sanchez
Walcott
Extremely tough on Aaron but he's not great out wide and Olly too but its purely a lack of pace thing
Sanchez and Ox offer both fantastic ability and work rate that must other teams can only dream of having at their disposal.

Don't see how rosicky fits in..we need to let him go, and not waste his career. love the guy but just don't see playing time.

this may sound a bit crazy but i think we need to play sanchez upfront. and get a player like reus to play on the left wing.

that would solve our striker crisis, and would give us a bonafide 2 x 20 goal a season players

24 Jun 2015 08:00:56
liverpool are spunking 28-29mill on firmino. they really do never learn. id of gone for kevin volland myself. excellent player.

have a good week and weekend guys. saw your reply other day dags., hope your good bro x

Like most big money deals it could go either way, he will either prove to be the bargin of the season or another Liverpool over indulgence at a silly price few others would pay.
Personally I think he will be a big success for them before someone takes him off their hands at Double that fee, but that's just my opinion.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2015 09:27:14
What would have been a good deal in your opinion? Is 28-29million the official figure? Unless it's silly money (David Luiz) I never really understand the fan's obsessions with how much another club have spent on a player. It's bizarre.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2015 09:34:33
Frimino is a good player 29mil is a bit overpriced but he has quality

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Jun 2015 10:09:58
personally id go for hakan calhanoglu.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2015 11:14:35
Firmino is a player I posted about last year and how much i would have loved to see him in an arsenal shirt if we didn't get sanchez. I think he'll do very well with liverpool, maybe even be excellent, basically i think they'll be selling him for 50 mil in 2-3 years time.

Also, calhanoglu is a diff type of player.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2015 13:14:38
I like it when other clubs pay over the odds. Don't think firminho is to bad a price .

Man U for instance di Maria was up for sale the year previous for around 34 million and man United got charged 60 million. Some clubs have there pants pulled down, United , city and sometimes Liverpool all pay the top figures

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2015 14:03:47
calhanoglu Seems to become a free kick master but I've not seen much of him seems a very direct player very different from Ozil and santi

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2015 16:58:56
Ozil for 42m brow. Nuff said!

23 Jun 2015 23:48:01
Credit to Wenger, at the end of last season he came out with the dumb comment " we have 3 world class keepers" knowing that would get everyone thing WTF is he on, yet all the time the background boys would have been sniffing aroung Cech.............

It makes pounds and pence mate.

24 Jun 2015 10:11:42
if liverpool, Manchester United and chelsea are not even scouting him i do not see why we need to sign him, he's obviously not worth the talent.

good enough for a top 10 but not top 4.
