"My opinion, and I tell it openly, we need to strengthen every position to play on the level of such teams in UK as Chelsea and Manchester City or in Europe like Real, Barcelona, Paris St-Germain, Bayern Munich and other clubs, " said Usmanov.

"Arsenal is a dream that sometimes becomes a mirage and sometimes a pain as every dream. The potential of the team is there, but there is no critical evaluation of mistakes and their admittance. Not a single genius can retain its level when he does not admit his own mistakes. Only when you admit your mistakes are you rid of them. We just repeat the same results year by year. Quite high to secure the place in the Champions League but we regularly lose in the first circles of play-offs. As an investor I am not happy with that."

- Usmanov

If he knows we have problems, Kroenke must know we have problems and god help us hopefully Arsene knows we have problems.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We need him to buy the club asap

Yesterday's poll.

'Was Arsenal's defeat to Manchester United due to bad luck'.

21 votes.
8 said it was bad luck.
13 said it wasn't.

Did the 8 people watch a different game to me?
Bad luck! Are you sure?

Apart from 3 seconds of bad luck ( that's how long it took for the ball to leave Valencia's boot, hit Gibbs and ricochet into back of the net), how was it bad luck?

Bad tactics, bad performance, no leaders on pitch, no desire, no commitment, naive defending, poor finishing and total incompetence from the bench and players was our downfall.

Bad luck my ar5e.

There was an element of bad luck to go one down after all our possession, attacks and shots. Even a moron can see that.

We then flicked the self destruct button, lost shape and hope of keeping it to one goal down. Even a moron can see that.

It short - a little luck and we would have been 3 up.

A little more shape and we could have drawn

Agree0 Disagree0

When you have that much possession, you have that amount of attempts and the opposition have that few attempts defeat is just bad, luck doesn't come into it. We don't need bad luck to throw games, its a habit. And dags I don't think you are a moron. I know your a christian.

"There was an element of bad luck to go one down after all our possession, attacks and shots".

How is that bad luck?

Agree0 Disagree0

We make our own luck 95% of the time be it good or bad.
Chelsea ain't lucky every week and us Liverpool QPR unlucky every week.
Over a season things even up, Anderlecht away? I'd say we in profit in the luck account

Usmanov is the 2nd biggest investor in the club, with a 30% share.

By his own admittance, "I have no say in the future of Wenger or the direction the club is going".

That can't be good for the club.

Agree0 Disagree0

I know steve just a dream of mine. Hoping one day he takes over

CTR I'm extremely grateful to Mr Wenger for The Invincibles and fingers crossed Chelsea or anyone else get anywhere near the record! An extra special team!

Agree0 Disagree0

What is a good result on Wednesday? Usually I would say a win and nothing else. Especially with the circumstances.

Realistically though - are we just best off with a draw? Are we really going to be able to challenge them physically?

I don't know what tactics to run with but it has to include Chambo, Alexis and Welbeck to keep running and an energetic midfield to keep up with the German powerhouses.

If everyone gets warn out so be it, it's only West Brom at the weekend - only West Brom.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

West brom away is not easy. early kick off too we hate them. I think we will drop points

Agree0 Disagree0

At this moment any team we play against would fancy strongly their chances against us, confidence is shot to pieces, from the moment of kick off, it's only a matter of time before the other team scores (in their minds and ours).
The philosophy has to change, I think the squad is OK, not great but OK, and with proper management / tactics could be on for another top 4 finish.

Agree0 Disagree0

We will get a point off one them if not Dortmund then definitely the mighty Albion away, who knows may be back to back points with one from each.
We will not relinquish our 4th place trophy or our last 16 place exit to Bayern or Barca without a fight, come on you Gunner's

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Nov 2014 16:30:52
I'd play a back 3 on Wednesday of Chambers Mert Monreal and tell them half way line and no more for you 3 even if there's no one to mark, stay close to each other and don't get or allow each other to get dragged out of position I want to see you talking this each other through out the game.
One thing is for sure Klopp and his Dortmund team would be shocked for the first 45min at least trying to workout why we weren't doing what we always do and why they couldn't get us on the break, they would probably report us to uafa for using gamesmanship and underhanded tactics as we always play the same way everyone knows that and they should have been given notice of any change to a 17 year tradition, imagine the news headlines at 10 pm
Dong Arsenal try something different
Dong David Cameron resigns
Dong the queen abdicates
Dong life found on the moon
But first back to our main story Arsenal play a different way

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i enjoyed that G62..

Not sure if you can shed any light Ed but I heard Bould took training today and may be in charge on Wednesday as Arsene is stuck traffic.
Apparently the route to and from work Arsene has taken for the last 17 years has a burst water main which has forced all traffic to be diverted, all except Arsene that is who is refusing to change course.
The workman are calling him all the names under the sun for ignoring the water bursting through the tarmac but Arsene is just sitting there playing with his coat and saying he didn't see the incident

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - it was not a burst water main G62....but the tears of the arsenal supporters that flooded the street.. :)

Finally we've come up with a plan to stop the mad professor in his tracks Ed, keep you those onion's coming lads :-( = :-) long term :-)

Well the only positive out of Saturday in my opinion was the return of Giroud wilst I understand he is not top top class he certainly is a big asset to the way our team plays, many weeks ago I got a lot of critisism on here by saying he is badly missed.

He will bring others into the game and with his hold up play and link play we should retain the ball more. Now I m not saying he is our saviour but I am saying I expect a huge improvement in who we play and retain the ball, Welbeck should thirve but I fear Wenger will have him playing too wide to benefit.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

What Giroud brings to the team isn't as obvious as what a 20 goals a season poacher brings but is every bit as valuabled by all those who are able look beyond the obvious.
We are a better team with than without, Danny is a 100% player but neither Giroud or Henry a Suarez or even Sturridge if we had signed him in july when hope's and dreams were sky high there would have been uproar and outrage but Wiley old Wenger brought him in when all hope had gone on deadline day and we were happy to get somebody new in who ever.
I like Danny but he ain't he ain't going to be the difference between 4th and top 2 he's yet another 4th place additional player

Agree0 Disagree0

Believe it or not Giroud hasn't ben registered to play in the CL, so he can't play against Dortmundt and Glatasaray.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Nov 2014 21:17:11
Behave Robbie :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

To be fair why would you use a space registering Giroud in the group stages when he was expected to be out for all of them.
I think your only allowed to register 32 players before Christmas and then you can make changes to your 32 after Christmas, on this Arsene did the right thing at the time

I suggest my local pub team manager should be given a chance as Wengers successor; admittedly he doesn't have any of the necessary coaching badges, can only speak English (badly), smokes and drinks too much and is fond of the horses, but he is up to date with the modern game.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

24 Nov 2014 12:16:04
All this talk of getting in Klopp would be wrong imo. Aim higher get Pep, Ancelotti or Jochaim Lowe in. We pay Wenger 8.5m a year so surely one of 3 mentioned will make the move ready for start of the new season? Please Mr Gazidis have a plan in place and not a sub standard replacement, we fans pay our way and we will never walk away from The Arsenal. Klopp is a nice fella but I want top class for my top club. ATID

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Mr Gazidis is a joke hate him

jochaim lowe for me is a bigger risk that klopp I think. lowe could do really well but klinsman proved that the international game can a lot different to club football

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Liverpool will take Klopp out of the equation fairly soon and Pep's next move will be city where he will have the spending power of Bayern and wages to match plus the ambition of making them Champions league and Premier league double winners to add to his glowing CV.
Ancelotti quite possibly as Real don't keep managers long and Lowe I would think might replace Pep if the timings were right

Agree0 Disagree0

diego simeone, his style of football is to be admired, they play as a team , his players are skillfull, tough and have great engines if they don't win they are very difficult to beat, yep diego would do fine for me

Agree0 Disagree0

IL be amazed if klopp takes liverpool job but I guess with there league form the clubs he can choose from have declined

simeone vs jose again i'd love to see get him in

Agree0 Disagree0

Love to see Simeone. Problem is he is too firebrand, far too much powderkeg there. I know he would fight the clubs corner and for his players and employers, i'm also sure it would gee up the quiet fans, would definately be good when it comes to coaching.
but the club aren't going to hire someone who is going to be in the FA dock with charges hanging over him constantly, yes he is fiery, but look at the champions league final, he couldn't contain himself.
i know it was his managerial everest, but imagine if we were to lose to someone like sunderland or west brom with him in charge, he would practically explode.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Nov 2014 10:11:41
The things saving us at the moment are Liverpool have Rogers and Everton have no money but both of those things could quite easily change in the near future.
Klopp to Liverpool and someone to finally invest in Everton giving Martinez a decent transfer budget plus 2 more years of Arsene's management tactic's and transfer policy would leave us being uafa cup hopefuls and a lot less attractive proposition for a decent manager.
Can we afford to wait 2 years with no hope of a change of direction style tactics or thinking of any kind?
Now that is scary

Believable0 Unbelievable0

24 Nov 2014 07:28:52
Wenger has done so much for our club. He has taken us from "boring boring arsenal" to a club that is known around the world as an attacking, exciting, entertaining club. that said, I think it might be time for a change, if the papers are to be believed, Jurgen clopp is maybe available and in order to keep our best players and attract other great players we will need a big name manager.
We as Arsenal fans owe wenger a hugh debt but it might be time to look to the future with someone else at the helm.
Thoughts?

I didn't watch the game, but I saw the extended highlights. Ignoring the last 10minutes where we played with 0 defenders which I'll admit was a bit strange, I'm completely baffled that we didn't win 5-0. So many easy wasted chances, so many weak shots instead of a simple passes for a tap in. Luis van gaal must have made a small offering to anubis before the game or something, not going to point fingers at anyone for that defeat I've never seen anything so unlucky.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If you have to play a left back at centre back and not one recognised defensive midfield player, it makes things extremely difficult. Wenger also needs to provide protection for his full backs, who tend to get exposed one on one. If Wenger can't grasp how to defend, it's time to go.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Nov 2014 03:52:58
Wenger has reduced me to tears :(
Been hoping for the last 6 years now that he is kicked out of leaves but.

Wilshire poor decision making. Missed a sitter and then over tried trying to compensate for it, holding the ball needlessly for too long.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

24 Nov 2014 00:46:41
if we don't sign a marquee defender like Hummels and a cdm this club is going to deteriorate further and further because after saturday just shows defensively we are apauling. so seen as though we haven't go a hope in hell of getting a player like that we've got to get used to europa league from now if we're lucky, because with this board owner and manager we haven't got a chance.

Say what you will about Abramovich, he is first and foremost a businessman but unlike Kroenke he has passion for Chelsea to be successful and has really taken them to his heart.

We are a cash cow for an American businessman who has no interest in our sport, our club or our fans.

He has got us financially stable, he has made a fortune now I wish he would just sell up and go back to the NFL.

Wish thinking.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We never were in trouble with finances. But i'm with you the biggest change should be kroenke out usmanov in

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the criticism of Kronke is unfounded. He has taken very little out of the club and has left Wenger to run the club as he seems fit. We are financially sound and our current predicament is down to Wenger's error in not replacing Flamini & Arteta, as well as signing two additional defenders. Wenger deserves the right to use the January window to sort things out. To blame Kronke is simply misguided.

Agree0 Disagree0

Leaving Wenger to run things by himself is poor management on his part for a start Rob.

He should've been sacked when we failed to mount a title challenge over any the previous 9 years.

Abramovich gets results that's what I'm saying.

Agree0 Disagree0

Kronke is a problem though his teams don't win titles and he's here to make cash. i'd like to see if he stays after 2 seasons out of champs league. I think he should sell to usmanov now while the price is still high

Agree0 Disagree0

VDG - Owners can't win, if they are hands on they are accused of interfering. I would far rather someone like Kronke who keeps his distance and allows the manager to run the club as he seems fit. He doesn't take loads of money out of the club, which he is entitled to do, if he so desires. I don't believe he has refused Wenger funds to sign players. To lay the blame for our start to the season at Kronke's feet, beggars belief.

Agree0 Disagree0

Robbie it is clear that ‘sporting success’ is not the motivation behind Mr Kroenke’s ambitions. Since taking over the Denver Nuggets, Colorado Avalanche and the St Louis Rams not one of these teams has had any success ie in the silverware department since 2001. Sound familiar? Unfortunately, we can now add Arsenal to that ever growing list.

Agree0 Disagree0

Robbie kronke is the prblem but wenger is also part of the problem. over time you will see this.

if usmanov took over when kronke did I think we would of won more buy now and be challenging

Agree0 Disagree0
