If you love to watch football, you love to watch Mesut Ozil. "

He certainly was a joy to watch and also covered a lot more ground than people would think.

He's always covers the ground the stats prove he does and always has covered more ground per game than Sanchez and Ramsey, but like every thing Mesut does he does it subtlety rather than in your face obvious that all can see.
The bloke is class on grass above.

He's definitely up there with Stewart Downing and Wilfried Zaha.

Flamini was a rockstar tonight - delivered in every respect and in my opinion undeservedly under appreciated by this board.

Chambers, the proposed answer looked lost in the position and is either a CB or back up RB. Probably needs some time on loan.

COYG - nice win.

You do realise how crap Zagreb are, don't you? I hope you beat Olympiakos and qualify, just so we can all laugh at you when you get knocked out, again.

I thought Chambers did well, he kept it simple and his anticipation was astute with some intelligent interceptions.

Flamini didn't have much to do but still vacated the middle without pressing the ball on several occasions. Luckily Zagreb were too slow to capitalise on the gaps were Le Coq, or possibly even Chambers, would have been.

The next 3 months will decide the FlamCham debate as DM, my guess is another in house candidate or two will probably enter the contest too. Debuchy and as a very last desperate resort Gibbs may be tried there if niether Flamcham work out.

On a different note, I think Sanchez up front could rival the deadliest strikers in Europe in the scoring charts.

Where would we be without Sanchez?

Why are we making this game harder than it should be?
Poor final balls and no defensive shape 😕

We should be 6 up or saving our energy

Seems strange moaning when 3 up but we are looking naive at the back.

I think we did enough mate.
Zagreb didn't offer too much going forward, but I thought we put in a professional and polished performance.

If Sanchez was a poster on this page, he would be up there with me.

Totally amazing :-)

Lets hope Ramsey stays off the pitch tonight, no need to risk him at all.

It's took about 2 years, but I am now a big Ozil fan.

Ozil has been one of our best players this season let alone tonight.

Just think he is getting awful close to being my favorite Gunner at the moment. Step up from today's Fabregas.

24 Nov 2015 23:09:24
He is putting in a shift, keeps us ticking over, keeps possession, creates space with his runs off the ball, always wants the ball and always tries to pass forward first.

He is an upgrade on Fab and shows the importance & difference between good and world class

Huge Ozil fan - good to see the goals & shots coming from him now

Not very confident about tonight's match, just seen an interview with bfg and when ever he does a pre match interview we tend not to win .

Who knows how tonight will go it could it easily be a 4 0 super show from us or an early champions league bath, tough one to call.

People are and have in the past been suggesting Chambers as DM and to me that's such a long shot its not worth contemplating.
At RB he's naive at CB he's lost so to now ask him to play the most disciplined position on the pitch is IMO madness.
Flamini is not ideal but is the most sensible option and will have 10 or so games for him to show he still has the ability and desire to play premier league football we just have to hope he takes this opptunity with both hands and prevents us becoming 4th place chasers as early as January.

Wasn't le coq a long shot, when he just about got a game for Charlton. now he one of the first players on the team sheet. chambers played there for Southampton academy. look as you said he could have 10games to settle in the position and get his confidence back. flamini not getting any younger, always liable to pick up yellows with rash challenges. seems to think he a bit of a box to box player now, after the brace against spurs. chambers has stamina, heading ability, and remember when he first came he looked a class act. until montereo skinned him. form is temporary . he still only young, can only get better.

Flamini is dire, so Chambers cannot be any worse.
We must survive until the transfer window opens. In the meantime we can use Chambers, Ramsey, Cazorla and possibly Ox in front of the back four.
It was a huge mistake not to sign any cover for Coquelin and depend upon the woeful Flamini and the inept Arteta.
I would suggest breaking the bank to buy Wanyama and Tielemans. Wanyama is ideal for physical matches against the likes of WBA. Whilst Tielemans is a superb young talent.
We must sell or release Arteta, Flamini, Rosicky and Campbell.
In the summer window I would also consider the futures of Ospina, Debuchy, Mertesacker and Monreal. I know some fans are impressed by Monreal, but at the top level he is found wanting. Would he play for the likes of Barc, Bayern, Real, PSG, etc? Would he even be considered good enough for Man C, Chelsea and Man U?
I would consider in the summer bringing back Szczesny and Jenkinson, as replacements for Ospina and Debuchy. We then need a quality CB, LB and 2 DM.

He had a bad day as RB at Swansea no doubt but he had an even worse one against Liverpool as CB, the boy will possibly make a decent CB in years to come but as a DM in a team that's already weakened badly by injuries? Playing Calum Chambers as a DM will do his confidence no good at as he gets passed around for fun and caught out of position so often it will make his Liverpool performance look like a master class,

While i agree that we should let Flamini, Rosicky and Arteta go at the end of the season, I don't see why we should keep buying players from other teams and leagues. Don't we have anyone good enough coming through our own ranks to fill these squad positions? What about Gnarbry, Crowley or Bielik? When is the time to give these players responsibility? The same goes for Chambers, if he is not good enough as a RB, CD or DM then what's the point of him being at Arsenal? Why not give him a chance to develop within the team rather than in the reserves?

Derby

Apologies your first prognosis of Coq seemed spot on

That could well be Coq for the season.

alot of knee injurys about mate very worrying really isn't it : ( at least this one was an impact injury. an acl is from an un natural movement.

remember when your young and a fracture is the worst injury you can get, you get older and its a mine field.

I don't believe for one moment that Coquelin will be back in a couple of months. I would suggest making every effort to sign Wanyama, Tielemans, Knodigbia or possibly Lars Bender.
Our most successful seasons under Wenger, were when we played two tall combative midfield players in front of the back four, such as; Vieira, Petit and Gilberto. My own choices would be Kondogbia and Wanyama.
