Ed has/ will sagna be offered a new contract? Or will he be allowed to leave on a free next year? {Ed007's Note - He will be offered an extension, talks have already taken place.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Thank you, any suggestion to whether or not he intends to stay? {Ed001's Note - it is expected he will stay, he is seen as a very important player for the club.}

The injuries continue, with the news that Walcott needs an op. Two friends who are medical practitioners and fellow Gooners, believe this is down to poor conditioning and having to play too many matches.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Not too sure I buy that one after just 5 games into the season?

Agree0 Disagree0

This season, currently injured/just back from injury: Vermaelen, Monreal, Arteta, Cazorla, Rosicky, Oxlade, Podolski, Abu Diaby, Walcott, Zelalem, Sanogo (spelling?). This amount of injuries is not normal and its the same at the club every season.

Agree0 Disagree0

I've heard this before about arsenal. We've always got a disproportionate amount of players injured, long term injured quite often.
Not sure what could be done about walcotts injury but I remember last year coquelin done his hamstring after 5 minutes of coming on, which for a young professional athlete raises questions.

I thought that when I looked earlier on the web site earlier, he was in the squad picture too, it must be Park but the number is wrong.

Could be Ryo's dad, he looks old enough. That's why I wasn't sure if it was Park because he looks way older.

In other words I'm not sure.

Agree0 Disagree0

Completely forgot about park thanks stoner that would've done my head in for days.

Been abroad for 3-4 days and could not get English newspapers. I was very surprised to see the attendance given for Sunday's game versus Stoke as a miserly 50, 002.
Were there any extenuating circs of which I am unaware to explain this massive drop from the regular 59K- 60K.
Thanks in advance.

Yeah, We were playing Stoke.

Hi fellow Gooners, wanted to say great start to the season but the squad is as thin as victoria beckham. It is criminal to go into a season with only one striker and one right winger, that said a bench of Viviano, Jenkinson, Vermaelen, Monreal, Flamini, Podolski, Wilshere. With a 1st 11 of Szeneny, Sagna, Mertasacker, Koscielny, Gibbs, Arteta, Ramsey, Ozil, Walcott, Cazorla, Giroud with Rosicky, Sanogo and Bendtner is pretty good, just wanted to ask Eds if Reus or Draxler could be a possibilty

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Whether you think the squad is thin is a matter of faith really. You do rather paradoxically point out that our bench (once injuries clear up. ) is pretty strong. Some of our youth in this generation actually look like they can make the transition to the first team. Gnabry wasn't our best player against Stoke, but certainly looked at at ease to be there, and really didn't let us down. There are certainly games this season where these guys can play for their future. Is it better to buy a star for their spot? Wenger seems to have that balance tipping well this season in my opinion.

On your specific points about the striker and right wing positions consisting of 1 player, you must agree that's over the top? (maybe you're dissapointed to be top of the league so far Islington?)

Firstly, don't agree we play with a right winger in this system. Walcott plays like one in that position because his speed and finishing are his best assets I think, over his passing and awareness. Cazorla and the Ox are both first teamers who can play on the right. After that we have Gnabry, Ryo and even Ramsey. Not really short.

Up front, number-wise, Podolski, Walcott and Bendtner give us options. Sanago and Akpom pushing for chances. I agree that we're short of one really quality option after Giroud. It's important to get the right player when you play 1 striker though. Look at the problems chelsea are having settling on a first team. City can operate with 4 really class strikers because the rotation and sub opportunities are increased with 2 up top.

It's the arsenal injury plague that will decide whether this squad is still competitive come January. I think the team is very strong, and the lack of respect we get in the media is a joke. As Di Canio would have; keep your chin up! Looking forward to seeing the team and performance in the cup tomorrow!

Anyone else loving Bendtner's Last Samuari look?

Would love this to turn into a rdemption story!

Bendtner has everything to lose or gain in his performances this year.

It's amazing, he looks like he's literally been lost in the wilderness and now he's returned home.

I laughed when I saw it. He really is playing the humble card, even looking like a homeless guy.

Agree0 Disagree0

Metal gooner lol, I spose all he needs now is a beard and a pet bear to complete the look.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the beard is there! He's going all out :D

We've signed a new player on a free, Ajayi.
With this signing it has left us all with a Semi.
That was poor, I apologise.

A friend sent me a link to a brilliantly done, most hilarious video. If you haven't seen it, I recommend you watch it- you will love it!

Just type, " Spurs boardroom finds out Özil joined Arsenal " into youtube and sit back and enjoy :) It really is quite brilliant.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Its brilliant ain't it. I tried to share it last week but some how ended up in Arsenal Questions. I think even spurs fans will find it funny

Hilarious!

Although I think it is genuine not a spoof.

Sheesh, listen to you lot. 5 games in and you are writing off the most successful team of the last 20 years. Some players are out of form, new Manager, older players = disaster.

Let me remind you of last year when all on here were slating Ramsey and yet now you are wetting yourselves over him. The debate raged all year about whether Wenger should stay or go and now you are going to withe league.

Well done on signing Ozil, great player and a testament to what a difference 1 world class player can make (RVP anyone)? But I will say again, there is no stand out team this year. You guys look as good as anyone but to write United off as most of you have is nonsense.

The dodgy keeper referenced below is being scouted by Madrid, Rafael is tremendous, he may drop the odd clanger but there is no other RB we would want. You may have noticed Rooney now looks up for it so with him and RVP we will always score. Midfield remains a challenge, as it was last year and Fellaini was not the answer.

As Stoner will tell you, I have a fairly balanced view but to see some of you having United outside the top 4 is laughable.

Enjoy our discomfort while you can as I don't think it will last. The title will be between United, City, and Chelsea. 4th will be you or Spurs and I hope it's you as I have a real soft spot for Arsenal

AJH,

No one in reality is writing you off but having a laugh at your expense following the humiliation by City. We suffered following a certain 8-2 game. What is so difficult to take in Malaga's tongue in cheek banter.

The reason yourself and others are over here on this page is because RVP and Rooney to a lesser extent, are the only shining lights as your team is in a bad place and you know it.

We had used the term deadwood on this page on numerous occasions. It now litters your page. If you honestly believe that what you've achieved previously will help you this season, it seriously won't. Your boys seem to have lost some of that belief. You got mauled by City in a big way and the rest of the EPL can smell blood. They will be going for it and before you know it so will the press.

It's not just the quality of your football it's what appears to be the anxiety in the squad, RVP is Mr Angry, Rooney, does he want to be there. He wasn't great against City, nice goal but running around a lot doesn't cover up his true form.

You brought Cleverley on against City, that pretty much summed up where you are to be honest mate.

Your squad requires a proper overhaul, your world class players are no more and you don't have world class quality or close to it knocking on the door to replace them.

It will be a hard season but games you got away with winning last year look to be ones you'll lose this year.

This is my honest opinion, I'm not deluded and I'm not stupid enough to write you off long term but I think you will have a proper fight on your hands to get top 4.

You now have a run of easy fixtures to get back in it. 5 points is nothing. Moyes however didn't shower himself in glory by taking the reins of the biggest club in England, the current champions and then complaining about fixtures.

Agree0 Disagree0

AJH, the title is wide open any 5, possibly even 6 teams could win it. The top 3 is not a certainty at all, as all 5 teams look strong! Which makes it exciting for a neutral like me.

Agree0 Disagree0

To write off anyone at this stage is silly and you have had a tough opening regarding fixtures but you have had a lot of very ave players for a long time. The big difference is you had the AF factor that some how pulled off great things with some very ave players. Cleverly Welbeck Young maybe England players but which teams would really want them if you made them available? Add in Rio the ego and Rooney the want away you have to admit Moises does have big job on his hands. Imnot saying he won't do it but it is a massive job he has bravely taken on

Agree0 Disagree0

Stoner

You make some fair points but do t forget fella pros put 4 United players in the PFA team of the year, none of whom was Rooney. It will be a tough year but if Moyes picks the right team / formation we will be right up there. Of course, that is a big if

Agree0 Disagree0

AJH but look at those 4 players, One is a keeper and other 3 are on the wrong side of 30.

Personally I would say of those 4 two RVP and Carrick were very very good other two were good but not that sure.
And this season main problem for you guys is Carrick is not performing as well as he did last year.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ajh, I could easily see you's finishing outside the top 4, I could just as easily see them challenging for the league. It really is a season when nothing will surprise me. Too close for any dead cert situations.

Agree0 Disagree0

Great little debate here, without any childish slanging! It's why I keep coming back to this site day after day!

Its definately too early to be pleased with our great form at the top, or united's poor form in 8th. a lot will come down to whether we avoid more injuries in key positions, and RVP (nice to see him finally injured for another team by the way!) and Rooney can keep Man U in the fight until they can sign a few faces/turn their form around.

AJH, I can't argue with supporting your team (wish a few names on here would show a bit more of that sometimes), but having watched you play in 3 or 4 games so far, this really is the worst united I've seen. I agree you won't get through those difficult games with the inevitable end of the game win this season, without Fergie. Can see you losing 2-3 more games this year, and as we've found out recently, the top of the league starts looking a very long way away, very quickly. If I'm honest though, I'm just quietly pleased that we've a genuine shot at you for the first time in years! Says it all really!
