Podolski***

" I would be happy to return to my hometown club Cologne but first I want to see out my Arsenal contract (2 more years) because I love it here.

Great news if you ask me.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I really hope he stays, stays fit and gets his chance up front with a fit Ramsey, Ozil, Wilshere and Ox around him will see a much better player.

Agree0 Disagree0

We should use the Pod more often. Like others, I do not understand why he is not playing regularly, when he does we are far better. There is no-one in the club who shoots as often as he does, and certainly no-one can hit it as hard!

Agree0 Disagree0

Pete has he only scored 8 goals though and 4 of them have come in the last two weeks.im all for keeping him, but he not a goal machine
we need an Ian wright wright wright.
or a henry

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe 8 goals but that's from just 11 starts,
12 goals from 16 starts in all completions playing out wide and hardly completing 90 mins compared to Giroud's 20 from 42 playing a lot more football and getting more chances playing up front.

Mate i'm a pod fan, but I don't think, imo. we have enough, if you read what I said I want to keep him.but beleave we need another Top quailty striker

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh god yeah completely agree, 1 if not 2 strikers tbh, I'd much rather lose Giroud than Podolski.

What have Man Utd, Stoke. Hull and Cardiff got in common?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

All their pies are me at free except for the snake and Pygmy

Agree0 Disagree0

I'll cut straight to the chase I guess.
They're all crap?

Agree0 Disagree0

Lol wrong G62,

try again mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

All got former Manchester United players in charge

Agree0 Disagree0

They've all won the 2nd division without Mark Hughes

Agree0 Disagree0

Lol incorrect Aussie

Agree0 Disagree0

Rocky, knock-out punch mate, well done.

Hang your head in shame G62, lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

This season they were the only four clubs where people were forced back in the stadium after getting caught climbing the walls to get out!.

Today's post (Thanks Eds).

Is it time to give up on Diaby?

It's pretty much 50/50 at the moment.

Exactly what I would expect.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I don't think we should give up on him, and we definitely shouldn't rely upon him.
if he has 1 year left, then i'd say keep him for the year and see how he progresses.

Rip Tito,

So young. Sad day for football.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

25 Apr 2014 21:13:13
As much as I think Diaby is a good player, he should never play for this football club again. He is never fit, he can't go 2/3 games without picking up a lengthy injury. Get him reasonably fit and ship him out or release him.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

So a player who is on the books for another year, should either be paid off or never play for us again? Because of his injury history? A) I only speculate but I doubt he pictured his career on an operating table B)why pay him not if he can play?

New poll: would you be happy with a straight swap ozil for cesc?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i will put that forward mate..

Good question, let's see how Ozil gets on next season first, IMO

Agree0 Disagree0

No for me, bring Cesc home please please and pay what ever money it takes in fee's and wages but not at the cost of Mesut, next season will see why that would have been a very bad move.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with g62, would love a combo of ozil n cesc, our very own Xavi n iniesta and perfect for wilshere and ramsey to learn from.

For those who thought their playing days were over think again, just watched a program on TV about walking football.
Sounds stupid but didn't look as bad as it sounds, its aimed at those who remember the Charlie George era who fancy digging out their boots once again.
Apparently its becoming quite popular amongst those who can do the 100 meter's in 10.5 days

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - if i train really hard G62, i could do that.. :)

Funny you should say that Ed025 I'm considering getting into shape for it myself, I'm thinking 32 pies 15 pints and 3 kebabs a day for a month and the temptation to run won't be a problem.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - hey mate!, dont be robbing my diet programme, i was hoping to give atkins a run for his money with that!.. :)

It would take a bit of getting used to Ed, I'm not sure I could cut back that much straight away

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - love it mate.. :)

Did somebody say kebab?

you have my undivided attention, lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

Im in shape.

well, round is a shape isn't it?.

Agree0 Disagree0

When people say kebab DG? Their offering mate not making a statement, besides your photo looks hardly anything like a Kebab DG, a bit pitted maybe but that's it :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Lol G62, thanks for the compliment mate.

Greeny thanks for the YouTube nod mate Brilliant!

Jenks and Ox had me in stitches, obviously very good mates, great to see. Jack and Szczesney was good too but how much would you want a pint with Ox and Jenks :-).
The four of them all come across as really good lads, we lucky to have each of them

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Mate I loved it! Thought Jenks and the Ox were brilliant! I actually like Jenks a lot more off the back of the vid. Seems like a down to earth Gooner who is just wanting to succeed at the club he supports.

Agree0 Disagree0

Exactly mate, I've always had time for him as he gives 100% but this just shows him as a bloke in a brilliant light.
Thanks for making me aware of it Greeny, really enjoyed it mate

Agree0 Disagree0

His making a hat video doesn't shine so brightly for him 'ahh I wish I had your job mate, youve got a well good job'

YOU PLAY FOR ARSENAL JENKO, HOW IS THAT NOT THE BEST?!

I posted something similar on Everton site,
Results going your way could see you move to 2pts behind Chelsea and 1 behind City with Everton a point behind you. Do you think it possible both you and Everton could finish in top 4 at the expense of Chelsea. I think even though Everton have to play City, City will hold on in top 4 given their game in hand and goal difference. Be interested in your views.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Even if chelsea lose, which means liverpool win the title and we are just two points from them, after their game against athletico, win or lose, the Final of the champions league is well after the league is over, so I would expect them to win 2/2 and still have that 2 point edge over us.

for us the newcastle game is big, we win and we are two games from champions league spot.

I expect Everton to lose or draw to city. if they go on to win that game, it can only mean a slip up from Arsenal will cost us.

I don't see everton losing any other game. if they win the city game, its up to us to win all our games, and going by how we play norwich last, and the way they are fighting for their lives, it will be a nervy finish to the season to say the least.

Diaby has a fresh injury.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

You've got to be kidding. What this time? Please don't let this be true.

Agree0 Disagree0

. i'm sorry I can't get any more serious regarding this guy. I don't understand why anyone is surprised.

he is just too brittle. bad luck, bad timing, whatever it is, the guy should hang up his boots and try to do something worth while with his life, sometimes you have to take the hint, your just not meant to do it.

not everyone gets to do what they want in life, and that applies to Diaby in this instance. well done in terms of the never die attitude, but its not quitting if you focus your time and energy into something that can be fruitful looking forward.

i gave up on him years ago, I just don't see why the club are relying on him in any capacity to be a squad member, its a professional results driven business and the results on this player have been out for quite a few seasons.

regardless of the fact he plays astonishingly well when he does play after a long layoff, the fact he can barely play a few games at a stretch should have given him the warning that his body is just not built for it.

Agree0 Disagree0

I feel so so sorry for Diaby.

He has done nothing wrong - blame the manager for not "replacing" him ro buying cover given his injuries, but don't take it out a player who had his future quite literally ruined by a rash tackle.

For those who aren't aware, Diaby completely renegotiated his wage structure and is on a pay as you play. Which means he costs us very little.

Versus someone like Bendtner, who is an ungrateful tw*t, I think more of us should be PROUD of Diaby's undying love and will to keep fighting on.

That is the spirit of a champion.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lakerville, your comment on him being a millionaire becomes so quickly irrelevant when you consider his earning lifespan.

His years from which he can earn any money is about 10-15. Of those, most of his big opportunities to make millions are gone.

He isn't sitting on Nike endorsements, and other commercial revenues. He is a calm head, with a family, who doesn't drink, rarely goes out and is always committed to the club.

He CHOSE to have his wages reduced.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Apr 2014 14:57:00
Arsene has said it is only a minor groin injury and so has nothing to do with his knee.

I'm sure these little niggles occur after long lay offs. Wish him nothing but good luck.

He deserves to come out the other side of this and have a great few years with us before he finally hangs up his boots.

He is undoubted quality when he's on form.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry Lakerville but you talk about the players as if its a game, this is their lives and all the millions in the world won't make up for the dreams he must have had as a kid to become a pro in the first place.
We ask for and expect loyalty from the players but can't afford them the same?
Something wrong there mate

Agree0 Disagree0

I think any player would be loyal if they don't play yet earn, its the same in any organization if they don't perform, go under the radar, yet make a living, and you always want to keep those who perform, its how business works.

FYI I was not pissed off that we sold van persie but rather we did not pay him the money he wanted to keep him.loyalty is one aspect but money is the main one.

i just feel its time to let him go, as I said I applaud him for his never die attitude but its not going to happen, its been a repeat too many times. there have been soo many instances of this same scenario, perhaps the determination stands out above all if at all.

He's not the only kid to have a dream of playing football, it happens for some, its lucky he has been playing football if at all, now its time to realise its not going to happen.

hes taking up a squad place, if he is on pay as you play or however it works out, he still takes a spot.

human nature always wills the underdog, I get it. but reality is different.

its sort of like that crowd reaction research they did.

a guy wears a F the poor billboard and everyone is swearing at him and asking him how he can even say that, and it was constantly anyone who saw that sign.

then he reversed it and it said help the poor and literally everyone ignored it, besides a few charitable souls.

the point i'm making is, yes its not nice to say let diaby go, I've had enough of him, its a sensitive issue, but in reality, in the back of our minds, we all know what's true, and i'm just saying it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Laker

The time has long passed to let go of Diaby, totally agree.

He is taking up a squad place IMO

Agree0 Disagree0

Lakerville I totally understand what your saying about the business side of things and appreciate to some extent its true, but if football were purely about money/business we would be world champions and they would given us the CL trophy to keep by now.
No one follows football for the business side of it, its the passion drama and daremi say it human side that makes it the worlds best sport

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - im with you G62..

I am not surprised I'm just disappointed. Everyone has witnessed his class when he does actually play that I guess we are all hoping to see what he does with an extended run. I wasn't aware of the fact that he renegotiated his wages to be on a pay as you play arrangement and for me that really shows the class of the guy. I think we have to let him see out his contract this time but any more major injuries and I think le prof will make the hard call and release him.

Knowing our luck though, we'll release him, he'll go 3 seasons injury free playing for auxerre, get them into our champs league group and we'll finish 3rd in the group or something.

Agree0 Disagree0

G62 comment noted. Well said

I can't see Arsenal accepting a 30m bid for Ozil, it doesn't make sense, a year after paying 42m, unless we were prepared to take a Barcelona player such as Alexis Sanchez. He would be more suited to our style of play, could play on either flank and can also cover for Giroud if not start ahead of him.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I don't see Alexis Sanchez in england, unless its Man utd, does he not get paid 9mill a year in wages or something close to that?

best chance is a club who will pay those wages.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - His representatives have been talking to Juventus.}

25 Apr 2014 08:25:16
As long as Arsene stays I I think we will keep hold of both Sagna and Kos and pay what it takes to do so, Arsene knows more than anyone we have to build on what we already have this summer not waste time replacing players. As for Ozil? Well he ain't going anywhere who ever is our manager next season I think there's very little doubt about that.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Completely agree G62 the Ozil rumour is a non-starter, if anything we would be asking for more than we paid! Sagna has been fantastic for us since he arrived but let's be honest, he's not far away from the tail end of his career. If he does stay it may even be worth bringing a replacement that could be back-up for a season and play a few carling cup games etc to settle into our style of play. Not sure if we maybe even have a younger player coming through that Wenger sees as a long term replacement. Jenkinson has been reasonably consistent when called upon but I'm not sure he's the long term solution.

Agree0 Disagree0

With all this talk of bac leaving this year, this most recent rumour of the young saints kid Callum chambers coming in confuses me. We have an apparent young Spanish super star in the making at rb in Hector Bellerin who is about the same age and is doing really well in the reserves.

If Bac is to go, would you want someone with experience like an ibate

Promote from within Bellerin.

or go for the saints kid?

For what it's worth, I'd go down the experience path and go for ibate.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Nothing wrong with having both and seeing who develops into the better player

Agree0 Disagree0

Coleman for me ( sorry again Ed025) pay what takes before someone else does

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - hopefully not G62, he is the best right back in the league, and we aim to keep him mate..

I could be wrong, but hasn't Bellerin been gradually retraining as more of a central midfielder than a right back? I know he is naturally a right back but I seem to remember a few journalists saying that Wenger views Bellerin's long term future playing at CM.

Agree0 Disagree0

You may be right jack. And yes in my absolute ideal world bac would stay and we would get Coleman or chambers to develop alongside bellerin if his future does lie at rb. I guess the jury is still out on jenko though.

Agree0 Disagree0

Aussie I think Jenks is another player who get far to much stick as with Ramsey I think he will be a big player for Arsenal in the next couple of years, but next season we HAVE to deliver and the best placed RB for that is Sagna

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree g62. I really like jenko actually, he just needs a bit more of a chance I think because last year with a run of games he showed a bit of class. it just seems le boss doesn't have a lot of faith in him. But yes for me Sagna is the best option and hopefully he decides to stay.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Apr 2014 04:08:37
To me Ozils problem is quite simple. We just haven't got any quality strikers. If we end up with a couple if top class strikers then we may all see a big difference in his game.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

A creative mid requires finishers in the forward position to make use of his well. vision.

now when we look at santi, ramsey, ozil, wilshere, flamini, arteta, even the defenders chipping in with goals, it becomes evident that giroud has done absolutely nothing.

1st half of season he held the ball well, second half of season tripping over his shoelaces.

Agree0 Disagree0

We have, unfortunately Wenger is convinced Podolski's best position is out wide.

Agree0 Disagree0

Podolski has been tried up front and it has never once worked out. His best position is LF.

Agree0 Disagree0

G95 he has been thrown in as a last resort for the odd 20 mins in difficult games where Giroud and the team were having a shocker. Strikers need to get a run of games Giroud didn't score for the first half dozen games when he came but Wengers happy to let him play through it. Even Wenger openly admits he is the best finisher on the team, PLAY HIM THEN!

This Diaby debate. I always thought I was a pretty good judge of a player and I always believed, from what I saw, that Diaby was a decent player. I was also a bit saddened when he got injured as I thought he added something to the squad.Yet I hear and read that people don't rate him. Have I missed something here?.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I'm with you on this Goldboy, absolutely bosses the midfield when he plays in my opinion. Would be great cover for Rambo NeXT season, with the same energy, passing ability and technique to go past players they have shown. We've got to stick with him, he's been very unlucky with the injuries and I hope he gets the chance to repay the faith Wenger has shown. Plus he could have a cracking WC ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

Im guessing people who don't rate his ability WHEN FIT, are people who have yet to see him play fit imho

people need to go see some videos of diaby before they say he's bad.

Agree0 Disagree0

Great player torn down in his prime by dan brown wonder what he's doing these days

such a shocking tackle guy done miracles to be walking properly let alone playing

When Wenger decides to leave, be it this summer or further in the future, do people think we will go for a similar style of manager? Or will we change to more of a "two tier" management system within the club with a head coach and director of football more similar to what many of our rivals do?

Believable0 Unbelievable0
