Liverpool fan in peace.

Having crazy thoughts about how the season will finish up and I don't normally do this. However for you guys I think this would be a dream come true scenario for you. Assuming the league finishes as it is, and for some miracle Liverpool win the CL ( keeping myself grounded) and you guys win the EL. spurs get their CL spot removed. Food for thought and I might be wrong with those calculations but my God Harry Kane's face. priceless. Anyhow I'll get back on my bike as I don't like to get ahead of myself but I'll certainly be routing for you guys tomorrow.
Good luck men.

Cant quite see how spuds would lose the CL place. Am i missing something.

If the season finished
1. City
2. United
3. Chelsea
4. Spurs
5. Liverpool
6. Arsenal

with both Liverpool and Arsenal being champions of europe, then Spurs would miss out? But that's absolutely not going to happen. Still on it since last night, Para?

Not true 5 teams will go in champs league.

Do you think Mo Salah has a shout at Ballon d'or, or will it be the usual 2 suspects fighting it out?

Harry Kane has claimed ot Dags, sorry or i would agree.

25 Apr 2018 23:24:26
It will be between the 2 super super stars as usual I think mate, to be fair I know it's a bit boring but they are simply a class above anyone else on the planet and to put anyone above them would be a bit of a farce, although a refreshing farce :-) .
The fact Mo has no chance speaks volumes about just how good the other two are.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Apr 2018 01:10:41
Unless he scores a hattrick to win the champions league, and even then i'd be surprised if he wins it, it will go to the chosen 2 for sure.

Jokanovic! Todays horse.
If we are going to be bold and try something new, then for me, Arteta and Vieira are too untested in England (or at all in Arteta's case) .

I'd be happy with Rafael Benitez, but failing him, I'd suggest we consider Slavisa Jokanovic who has proved to have a winning touch and can nurture talent.

Just sayin'.

Bit Random that mate ;-)
What about that English bloke who is manager of that little Swedish team that gave us a very big scare at the Emirates in the last 16 of this season Europa?
He's taken them from Sweden 4th division to 1st :-)

Seriously if we are looking for an educated punt then Sean Dyche has to be way way above Artetta and a lot of others mentioned.
Neither Arsene or Jose played top class football and someone somewhere has to have taken a punt on them before they became managerial superstars.

Who ever we get as manager we have to get behind him 100%. There are going to be ups and downs, but we must stick together.

25 Apr 2018 15:20:08
Likd we was behind arsene yeah 😂. But seriously yeah I hope everyone gets behind the new guy and gives him the time needed.

Agree1 Disagree0

25 Apr 2018 16:11:50
We've got to give him a full 45 minutes in the opening game, it's not good calling for his head after 3 or 4 minutes.
Obviously if after the full 90 minutes there's no improvement we'd need to have a rethink about him, we don't want to drag things out like we did with Arsene do we?

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Apr 2018 16:40:04
Its about confidence in the appointment, if the appointment is someone who looks a risk, he will get less time, if it is an appointment that looks exciting, he will get more leeway. that's just life.

25 Apr 2018 17:05:45
WHOEVERHEIS OUT! 😂.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Apr 2018 17:28:10
Obviously there isn't a stand out option who is available like Pep or Jurgen that would automatically have 95% of fans dancing in the street if they signed and could get away with finishing outside the top 4 in thier first season no problem.
Poor old Brendan would need to win a premier league and champions league double in his first season to have any chance of getting a second season and it would be no good him coming out with the lame excuse that we hadn't actually qualified for that seasons champions league before he arrived, that would be seen as a very poor reason by most fans in for his failure to win it for us. :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Apr 2018 17:36:25
Gunner, again not my first choice but don't you potentially see enrique as potentially exciting as pep or klopp. He could easily be as good as them.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - what makes you think that ste? I was in Spain for 6 months of his time at Barca and the way it looked to me was that they were winning in spite of him, rather than because of him. He was also terrible with the media, made the most bizarre comments and generally came across as completely out of his tree. He would seriously worry me as an option personally. His tactical knowhow was not the best at all, to be polite. You only have to look at the current guy to see that you can be useless tactically and still win there when you have Messi in the team, so it is not like he has shown anything to be considered exciting imo. Certainly nothing he did before Barca was in the slightest bit impressive.}

25 Apr 2018 18:45:12
Having read what Ed001 has said Steve it does raise questions about Enrique.
Maybe we need to look at where we are as a club at the moment as to who is most suitable from what they've achieved previously and where they achieved and the circumstances they had to deal with.
Pep has done it with Barcelona Bayern City who were all already giants when he took over, I'm taking nothing away from Pep he's brilliant at what he does but we are 6th best in our league without a great squad awaiting the new manager or mega money to make it great instantly or easily, so would Pep be a good fit after all?

Someone who has done a similar job to the one we want them to do under similar circumstances is prehaps where we should be looking?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - to be fair though, I think you could be fairly confident that just about any manager would finish in the top half with the team you have. The bottom half of the Prem is poor at the moment and there will be little time for signings with the absurdly short new transfer window.}

25 Apr 2018 19:08:22
Arsenal especially will have to do some quick and tidy work with the World Cup as well. It would be inconceivable if a manager was brought In and no new players came in.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Apr 2018 19:17:50
Ed 01 his ability for people to judge is about opinion, his trophies, even at Barcelona are not to be sniffed at. Yes he had a good team ready made but he did encounter all sorts of problems in the team and fans and in the end nobody including fans and players wanted him to leave. 9 trophies in 3 years even at Barcelona is impressive to say the least. Even great teams need a little help to win major trophies. People were saying similar things about Pep ( oh anyone can do it at Barcelona ) he is proving his methods work away from barca. Enrique is defin5not a lucky coach and if he is, i would take a chance that he will bring his luck to arsenal and like pep, prove his champions league, world team cup and leagues were actually because he knows how to win football matches. He is highly regarded by top top football people, so i would be honoured for him to be at our club to give him a chance. Arteta or Enrique, Rogers or Enrique, Tuchel or Enrique, i think i would have him before many.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - ste he was pushed out of the door and the fans hated him and the football they played. Pep has still not proved anything, he has won the same as Mancini and Pellegrini managed at City. He took over the best team in Europe under Heynckes, spent huge sums and made the merely the best in Germany. So not sure why you brought Pep into it. If Enrique is so highly rated, why have PSG not shown the slightest bit of interest in offering him a role?}

25 Apr 2018 19:52:54
I'm pretty sure I could make us top 10 Ed :-)
Absolutely new players will come in Sanogo mate but equally I doubt very much any of the 5 teams above us will simply stand still.
George and Arsene both leap fogged other teams to make us champions without needing to out spend all other to achieve it.
We are looking for someone who can work within a decent but limited budget and who has taken a team in need of rebuilding back to former glory in a very competitive League.
He's out there somewhere :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Apr 2018 19:56:05
So if PSG became interested in Enrique would that make him a better option.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - when did anyone say that? The point is if he is so highly rated as ste said, why did PSG have no interest in him? Irrelevant whether it would make him a better option or not as that was not the question. You are twisting things to suit an agenda.}

25 Apr 2018 20:25:22
Ed the previous manager before Enrique had won nothing and they were for Barcelona struggling, he came in and turned that around. The final season he was there, they were floundering on and off the pitch, mumblings he was tactically innept by people. He finished the season with the treble. His trophy haul was in his time frame better than peps, i dint think we as arsenal fans can expect any more than a man who has actually conquered europes top comp against the other elite teams. It would be a different challenge at arsenal for sure but he is a devorated coach and he is current.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I think we will just have to agree to disagree.}

25 Apr 2018 20:42:56
Best I can say is that Enrique Arsenal doesn’t ring true! . There’s ithers I’d prefer,

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Apr 2018 20:45:20
Opinions Ed01. I don't want arteta but that doesn't mean to say he would fail. The same as Enrique, he could bomb just as easily. Enrique as i said is not my first choice but we can't escape the fact he is a winner of the biggest prizes. The Barcelona job from the outside looks easy but in reality, it is also a poison challis. He didn't fail there.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - like I said we will have to agree to disagree because he was up against the worst Real Madrid side in living memory and Atleti were having issues with Simeone. He did not have to be any good to win anything, just had to not rock the boat and let Messi, Suarez and Neymar do their thing.}

25 Apr 2018 21:18:23
For next season, i don't think Enrique will be arsenals manager/ coach. I think if he is, it will be down to selnheri or whatever his name is. He will have a big say in wether he thinks he's the one or not.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Raul Sanllehi will lead the interview process and don't doubt the input of Sven Mislintat.}

25 Apr 2018 21:50:06
Ed02, i presume we are appointing a head coach now not a manager.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I would not get involved in the semantics Steve.}

25 Apr 2018 22:00:37
Ed02 ha ha i had to look that one up. He will have a totally different role to Wenger though.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Arsenal has recruited a Director of Football and a Chief Scout to help matters along.}

26 Apr 2018 01:21:08
Question for you both Ed001 and Ed002: If it were up to you either of you personally, which managers/ coaches/ wizards/ whatever would you be looking at as the best options for us? While I love the game I must admit that I don't watch many other teams play and probably don't know anywhere near enough to say whether another manager is any good or dreadful.

Also Ed001, in contradiction to what I just said, I've been finding myself watching liverpool matches of late and must admit that I'm a little envious of the football your boys are playing of late. Reminds me of the days when we had a quality, fast, fluid attack. Are you happy with Klopp? At least to the ignorant he seems to be doing a pretty decent job, can we perhaps borrow him for a little while? :)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - first off, very happy with Klopp, he was who I wanted and he has been better than I expected.

When you are following Wenger it needs to be someone strong, who will ignore what went before and do his own thing and so remove the shadow hanging over the club. There are very few around to be honest. I would go for Nagelsmann but I know the club are not looking at him.}

He did a lot for African football and world football as a coach.
Football had lost a great man.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he worked wonders as well, was able to take a complete disorganised mess and make it work. Better coach than he was ever credited with being imo.}

25 Apr 2018 03:36:55
The three candidates for manager reported in the press appear to be:

Gazidis - Arteta
Mislintat - Nagelsmann
Sanllehi - Enrique

My thoughts. Enrique wants a salary reported to be £15-17m pa. I understand this, as Ozil is the top earner on similar wages and presumably Enrique wants to be the top earner. However, I have reservations about him, as his success was at Barca, with a wonderful squad and set up. Is he the man to take over from Wenger and should we pay such a high salary?
Arteta, would be a far cheaper option, but he would be a very bold appointment with zero experience as a manager and would he have the respect of some players that played with him?
Nagelsmann - Risky, but an interesting option.
Of the three, possibly Nagelsmann would narrowly be my choice, followed by Enrique and then lastly Arteta.
Rafa Benitez has been put forward by Ray Parlour and I quite like him. He is experienced, will sort out the defensive and defensve midfield problems. He commands respect and has done wonders working with Mike Ashley, which is no mean feat.
So assuming we don't get Simeone, my first choice, Rafa has fast elevated himself above Vieira and Rodgers for me.
Wiithout a strong character as Cgairman, nor any strong characters in the board, Rafa would provide exactly that, a strong influence for the team and fans to rely on.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed0333's Note - Rafa would definitely put the cat amongst the pigeons. A safe hand with a wealth of Premiership experience who will make you tough to beat and will have the allure of London to help him attract decent players. I would hope you don’t get Nagelsmann because I think he is gonna go on to be a great and I don’t want rivals to have a strength.

25 Apr 2018 05:41:23
There is absolutely no need to appoint arteta, i just can't see him being an option at least not yet. Rafa and him as second coach, maybe. I just don't really see him as arsenal manager.

Artetta and Brendan are like the volts wagon beattle on a Top Gear challenge just looming in the background for entertainment purposes.
The club are no way going to appoint someone who automatically has the crowd on thier back from day one for no good reason.
Mourinho if available would be very unpopular among many fans but there would be some sense in appointing because of his record while Artetta and Brendan have nothing to back them up.
Neither are going to happen.

I'd rather Wenger stayed forever than Brendan Rodgers managed us for a week, personally.
