Just watching the City v Liverpool game, Sturridge has three good chances and cocked 'em all up.

It happens to them all guys

Believable0 Unbelievable0

25 Aug 2014 22:29:47
Aguero had one and smashed it into the back of the net, Jovetic had two and smashed them both into the back of the net.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2014 23:01:03
Didn't see it but I'm assuming City looked good?

Agree0 Disagree0

I mentioned Sturridge as he was getting rave reviews form some on here.

I don't know about anyone else but I will be glad when next Monday gets here and we have what we have and can get on with the football ahead

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Totally agree mate.

I think the window should shut a day before season starts.

Do your business during Summer, all clubs have long enough.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2014 21:11:13
Liverpool buy balotelli,
Everton signing eto,

What are we doing!? Selling Poldaski! Losing manolas to Roma?
I am so sorry Wenger is losing the plot very quickly
Buying 2 players (Sanchez & Chambers) and replacing Saga and fabinaski
Is not good enough, we have been linked with so many players, and yet nothing is done,
Last year we were 7 points from the top in 4th place this time unless wenger buys 3 quality players I am sorry to say we will finish 6th
If anybody has itk that can share and release my stress levels please help me?!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

25 Aug 2014 22:12:11
At present, fair post.

Let's hope Wenger has something up his sleeve.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would wait until Monday 00:00am before predicting where we will finish, infact I would wait until Xmas.

But you can't comment on our dealings in the transfer market until the window is shut

Agree0 Disagree0

Dexy calm down

I understand yours and everyone's frustration but let's not start screaming in panic yet.

Firstly you say about players we have been linked with. Yes lots. But there's a massive difference between being "Linked" and actually being "Interested". Papers like a lot of people on here and other worlds of communication put 2 and 2 together and come up with 63. Being way off the mark.

The players you mentioned, Balotelli first. I personally would have loved us to have got him. But he's a Liverpool player now and we move on.
Eto, really? Will he make that much difference to us? I don't think so.
Manolas, ok this is my opinion on why we won't get him. He wants first team football. Will he walk into our team if koscielny and mertesacker are fit. No. He's a bit of an unknown quantity too. Plays for olympiacos in a poor league, done ok at the World Cup. Roma want him and he will be a starter due to benatia leaving. If we want another CB I believe we should sign a top class player. Someone of the Hummels standard. Someone who can walk straight into the team at the expense of 1 we already have. Maybe that is what will happen. Maybe it won't.

Iv been waiting for the Di Maria transfer to happen. I think that's the 1 transfer that could start a snowball effect of other transfers across Europe. But it will be Thursday at least before anything happens with us. We could well have transfers lined up but they will depend on us winning on Wednesday against Besiktas. So till then hold tight.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2014 22:59:55
Definitely.

Somehow, I can't see Wenger not signing a DM.

Here's hoping anyway.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ah dexy it's with so called supporters like you who swallow the garbage that is spewed out by papers and online sites as if it's gospel truth.

Wenger had had a fantastic summer so far and has strengthened us considerably so far so yes giroud is a massive loss and will be sorely felt if something cannot be done.

But please for the love of god don't throw your toys out of the pram any time something bad happens ffs, neither you or I know what wenger will do or has planned so relax and take things easy and have faith that the club knows what they are doing would be strange for us to be so successful if we didn't.

Agree0 Disagree0

All thank you for words of wisdom,
My stress levels have lowered since I posted,
Let's hope Arsene makes those signings and we can then focus on wining the league?,

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2014 20:43:25
Hoping for carvalho tall strong technical a centre half and rabiot from psg a striker would be nice ie jackson martinez but I think he's just signed a new contract. The players we have brought in apart from alexis have just replaced the ones leaving so we haven't really got much stronger

Believable0 Unbelievable0

You could have been reading my mind. Or reading my earlier posts. Agree 100%.

Judging a striker on number of goals scored alone is not satisfactory. I think we should also assess:

a) number of chances missed
b) number of goals against big
clubs
c) number of brilliant goals

Scoring 16 goals out of 80 or so chances against Palace, Hull etc and none against a top team coupled with lack of pace does not inspire confidence at all

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Don't care about brilliant goals mate. If he puts the ball in the back of the net 25 times this season I'll be happy if they're average goals.

Agree0 Disagree0

If you are looking at b) you need to see how many opportunities are created for him

Agree0 Disagree0

Also how many of our goals are created from his hold up play for others?

Agree0 Disagree0

More than people think Trev, Girouds link up play is excellent

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2014 19:38:34
With some people getting so desperate for a DM that they'd take Gustavo, maybe this is an option;

Arsene has spoken of him in this position and with the imminent return of the Mertesacker and Koscielny partnership does anyone think he will take the opportunity to play Chambers in the DM role.

Little doubting outside of experience he has all the attributes, tackling, reading of the game and distribution all looking really good. Out and out speed not a necessity in that role either.

I don't want him to get used as a utility player but make one position his own but that could be his as much as CB.

I would certainly rather have him there than Gustavo, Tiote or any of the other average DM's out there.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If it comes to it I'd be very open to Calum being given the chance to shine there but I'd rather have a purpose built DM.
If the worst comes to worst what do we have to lose I guess

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2014 19:36:57
Lukas Podolski is good enough for the world cup winning team, even if it's on the bench. And now, it seems he isn't good enough for the Arsenal bench. Doesn't make any sense to me. I certainly hope he won't be sold/loaned out. I love him and he is a great player. Annoyed by so many posts I have seen of "Santi out" or "Podolski out". Be careful what you wish for guys.

Now Arsene, please buy us a striker good enough to win us the premier league because we don't have one currently. And more importantly a non-Gustavo DMF with a "gran turismo engine" and bulk

I have said it before and will say it again " We need a new striker to lead our attack. Olly G should be a super sub from the bench!"

Believable0 Unbelievable0

25 Aug 2014 20:06:46
Would happily keep Lukas, but is he happy to be a bit part player?

For all we know, he may have asked for a move.

Let's see how Giroud's injury plays out. He may become useful to us this week!

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2014 19:07:46
From Arsene Wenger

Arsène Wenger believes Olivier Giroud is improving every season and would not be surprised if the Frenchman hits the 25-goal mark this term.

He scored 16 [in the Premier League last year] and he's very convincing, " the manager said. "You never have to set any limitations for any player. For me, he's improving every year and don't rule it out that he scores 25.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

25 Aug 2014 19:22:55
He's doing well.

Has improved his 2nd year with us.

Can't say fairer than that.

Hey Eds how about poll which goes along the lines of, have Arsenal strengthened in all the right positions.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i dont think that deserves a poll yet AWF, we all know the answer is a definite no mate...maybe after the deadline we can ask it..

25 Aug 2014 18:07:42
Angel Di Maria.

Normally run's onto pitch alongside Benzema, Bale, Ramos and Ronaldo.

Now?
Blackett, Cleverly and Young.

Welcome to Old Trafford mate.

Enjoy.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - fair point dags..

25 Aug 2014 17:47:27
This is a list of our top goalscorers (League), since Thierry left us in 2006.

2006-07 RVP 11

2007-08 Adebayor 24

2008-09 RVP 11

2009-10 Fabregas 15

2010-11 RVP 18

2011-12 RVP 30

2012-13 Walcott 14

2013-14 Giroud 16

Summary. Apart from the RVP 30 season, Olly G hasn't done too bad.

Could be better, but not too shabby.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

25 Aug 2014 18:04:44
Or perhaps you're setting the bar too low?

Agree0 Disagree0

I have no doubt that giroud will get closer to the 25 mark this season, he can be frustrating at times but as the team gets better so will he so try not to jump on the aaa let's all hate ollie g bandwagon please.

Agree0 Disagree0

He will pass the 25 mark this season and again have numerous assists

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2014 18:26:25
Rosie,

I understand your point, but Mr Nibbles scored 31 last season and Liverpool didn't win the League.

2011/12 season, RVP scored 30, we didn't win the League.

Personally, I love 2 up top, ala Man City, who get 40/45 between them, that's normally enough to be crowned Champs, but even that is sometimes not enough because I think Suarez/Sturridge scored
53 between them last season and finished runners up.

If you play one up top, ala Arsenal, you need your midfield to score more to compensate for a lone striker.

But, I think above all, you need a very very good back 4.

Agree0 Disagree0

So it took the unspeakable dutch bloke 5 seasons to score as many admit took Olly two to achieve? Interesting.
I understand people want an out and out goal scorer that gets 30 goals a season but Giroud is still a very good player and no way deserved the terrible stick he got after last Tuesday

Agree0 Disagree0

Spot on Dags old boy, sadly our midfield will never score enough goals

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree0 Disagree0

G62

Speaks volumes, not so many posts after the 90th minute on Saturday eh?

Hmmmm I wonder why? :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Gunner62 I think it's because RVP was always injured. Olly Giroud at his best is not worthy to shine the boots of an in form RVP

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2014 19:54:10
Good response dags. Giroud is fine so long as Sanchez, Walcott, Ramsey and Cazorla all score plenty. As always we will have to wait and see!

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2014 20:09:40
Absolutely Rosie.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the golden boot 20/1 giroud is a fair shout along with jovetic and costa who are far shorter come on olly show us all what you're capable of!

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2014 23:02:01
I'll say it again, happy with Giroud, but we need more. Banbury, I piped up after Girouds 90th minute heroics, as it confirms how excellent he could be coming off the bench against tiring CBs. Olly with another quality striker like Bony or Martinez to interchange and relieve each other, coming on fresh against tiring CBs, we're a genuine title threat. Olly coming on late relieving Cavani or Falcao, we're title favorites. I've never and will never be anti-Olly but I will continue to shout loudly for a CF, be it a challenger or a replacement to Ollys starting spot.

Agree0 Disagree0

Steady on Outback, we don't want our strikers relieveing each other on the pitch - they need to concentrate on scoring goals.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2014 17:23:56
Gustavo is cr!p. Why do you guys think no big clubs were after him after he left Bayern? Gustavo is a light weight. He would get bullied in midfield. I would rather Scheiderlin than Gustavo.

Totally un-related, but I wouldn't want a brazilian DMF after the 7-1. He was atrocious in that game :).

As leader of the ACFA (Arsenal cool fans association), I say no to Gustavo!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i agree head buffalo mate..

25 Aug 2014 17:37:20
Rue,

Agree in principle.

Gustavo is probably the last name on everybody's list, but its better than nothing, and as long as it's an improvement on what we already have, and it is, than it's better than signing nobody.

We need a dedicated DM.

Agree0 Disagree0

No DM and its a 4th place battle again most probably, obviously the best we can get at this stage but we must have one to put in any kind of serious challenge.
I so didn't want Gareth Barry but right now I wish we'd gone for him, I need a drink, can't believe I said that :-(

Agree0 Disagree0

Diaby anyone remembering him - actually top drawer when fit!

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2014 16:11:43
Ed, do you know why the Manolas deal fell out? Who are we now targeting at center back?

25 Aug 2014 16:36:31
Wanyanna McCarthy Diame and Song don't top anyone's wish list of Dm's but if push comes to shove comes to AAAAAHHH HELP
We may need to take a chance opposed to going another season without

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - McCarthy tops mine G62, a cracking player mate..

Would Bob Martin be open to a deal 025?if so yes please

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - you already have a great manager G62, but some wont realise it until he leaves mate..

Sorry no I ment to a deal on McCarthy Ed025, happy for Arsene to see out his 3 year deal before we try and politely steal Bob

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - no mate, he is an integral part of the side now G62, and is rightly a firm fans favourite, bobby will not be leaving for a good number of years either as the fans idolise him..

To be honest Ed I'd be quite happy to see Martinez stay with you 10 years or more, very good manager with a very good club.
The biggest mystery to me no mega rich people have tried to buy Everton?
Id have thought anyone with serious dosh who wants to get into football would be straight in there

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - we all think the same G62, maybe BK is asking too much for a club who need a new ground desperately, or that he wants to still be chairman?...to be honest i like the way we re run now, a family club with principals who i see as a proper club, a bit like arsenal, i dont know if i would want to become another chelsea or city mate..

25 Aug 2014 18:04:00
Agree with Ed,

I think from a neutral fan's point of view, Everton are probably the most respected club in Prem League.

Principles before profit.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bill K is a fantastic chairman I think maybe has faults I'm not aware of but sure appears to love the club with all his heart, he Moyes and now Bob have done an unbelievable job with limited resources.
I'd hate to see a city or Chelski thing happen but someone who had a few quid not mega billions and ideally was a football fan ie QPR Fernando character would seem perfect for Everton

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i agree mate, an investor rather than a takeover would be the ideal solution for me..

Everton are in a very good position and very fortunate to RM, as has been previously said I would love to have him at Arsenal once AW moves on

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2014 14:21:57
Hi eds. Now that manolas is not happening, do you know of any other defenders that we are showing interest in? I read reports linking us to toby alderweireld(spelling). Any updates? Thanks in advance

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - See earlier answer please.}

25 Aug 2014 12:25:08
There are reports of podolski being off to juve, but would be look to replace from within or bring another forward in? If indeed he does go.

Podolski looks a cert to me on his way either permanently or on loan, I don't mind as long as Wenger is doing in order to bring A N Other in and not just to get some dosh back or ease the wage bill.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Its Free's up that number 9 Banbury, do you know of any players who would like that on their back?

Agree0 Disagree0

I doubt very much its more and more looking like Alexis and Theo on the wing with Ozil in the center, We have covers in Rosicky Ox and Carzola as backups, I do not see another player brought in.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not too sure what you are suggesting?

Alexis up front with Theo on the wing? If so . very good luck

Agree0 Disagree0

Nope I am talking about Giroud up front flanked by Alexis and Theo with Ozil in the center. The Question was about Podloski leaving and being replaced which isn't up front, but on the Left, and hence I gave the option. Sometimes please read the post to which I am replying.

Q

Do we think Arsene knows his starting line up or indeed best formation. Will tinkering too much cost us dearly?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We have got to stop looking for the negatives all the time. How many posts have there been on this forum complaining at Wenger's perceived lack of tactical diversity?

I'm personally encouraged that he 'seems' to be mixing it up a bit.

Agree0 Disagree0

There's a time for tactics and doing things according to the team you're facing, going to the boot sale stadium and playing our way is a recipe for melt down.
I think every team needs to be able to mix it up a little and be able to adapt.
My concern with Arsene is he quite often gets it wrong and doesn't seem to learn from past mistakes, Everton 2013/14 season and 2014/15 season spot the difference in our two first half displays?
Its a worry that lightning keeps striking time after time, Arsene should have either lead an orchestra or worked on the buses because he's a brilliant conductor

Agree0 Disagree0

It is a question, how can that be negative doh!

So you dispute that playing players out of their positions on Saturday didn't have a detrimental affect on our performance.

Agree0 Disagree0

Arsene knows simple end of story.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry amon but its Arsene believes not knows, I love the bloke and don't want him replaced or anything stupid like that but how long since Gilberto and Vieira left?
Yet year after year we get exposed by the lack of a good DM, Arteta was and never has been a DM he's just filled in there

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2014 15:13:23
Nobody is disputing that Aman,

But using your logic, this site wouldn't exist.

Banbury makes a fair point in his post, a point that opens up a discussion.

That's the point of the site.

Agree0 Disagree0

That's what I thought Dags

Lets not post anything . . . . . because Arsene knows simple end of story :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Banter is fine, and who we think and how the formation should look, but statements like -- "Do we think Arsene knows his starting line up or indeed best formation.", is directly pointing that the Manger we have is inept and doesn't know what he is doing. Framed and worded better is good Banter.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2014 10:50:59
Luis Gustavo not my first choice but I'd be very happy to get him as he would improve us, thoughts?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He is just what we need, probably a better bet than Khedira due to the fact he isn't so injury prone and no doubt less wages?

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2014 13:40:34
Not my first choice, but he is a dedicated DM, so yes please.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dint we go for him last season and lost out?

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2014 14:59:52
He'd be a great fit I think

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2014 15:05:39
And can play lb/cb apparently

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2014 15:16:23
I think we were linked with him but went from Bayern to Wolfsburg.

Not sure if Arsene made a bid.

Agree0 Disagree0

Apparently they want Poldolski so there could be a deal to be done, shame to lose Lukas because he's such a gooner but let's face it he is a bit part player with us.
Would wish him the best of the best of luck that's for sure

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2014 10:45:26
Does anyone else think that with the proposed deal Manchester United have in place for di Maria we got an absolute steal with the signing of sanchez? In my opinion 2 players of similar quality but we got ours for about £30m cheaper!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agreed. Di Maria is a great player, but you're right, not a huge difference between the two, so comparatively you could say it was a bargain.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree. Also I hear dimaria is on 190k! I don't think he is worth that much! Guess utd were really desperate!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - £ or €? Net or Gross?}

25 Aug 2014 18:00:36
If there is one thing I could take away from being a regular user of this website it would be that there is no possible way to compare the 'value' or quality of one deal to another. There are far too many unknowns. Enjoy Sanchez. I hope we will enjoy Di Maria.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2014 10:09:58
Dags I sort of agree with your post below a big season for us and for Mesut, but I think for possibly different reasons.
Almost one year ago Ozil joined us as the absolute best in the world at what he did but we have tried to make him fit us and not build a team to bring, out the best in Mesut Ozil.
Some might argue that the way it should be but why buy him and not James Milner for a lot lot less if you want some one works hard up and down the pitch and fits in.
I think unless we use him more wisely this will be the last season Mesut wastes his talent with us and I doubt there will be a shortage of takers, I just hope its not Liverpool utd chelski or city and we have to see the best of Mesut Ozil for one of our opponents every week as that would truly break my heart.
Please Arsene let Mesut be Mesut and with Ramsey Sanchez 0x making the runs for him to find time after Arsenal time

Agree G62,

As you said the other day, "You don't buy a Bentley and use it as a dust cart".

Loved that.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree, playing him out wide is pointless. He should play in the middle with 2 fast wingers on both side, as walcott, sanchez, ox, campbell and gnabry.

the squad isn't the most complete or the strongest. but players like ramsey wilshere koscielny walcott giroud give us many option to score goals.

it generally agreed that we create the a lot of chances and also that our strikers miss plentiful as well. so maybe a cavani or falcao would get us more goals.

but its the defensive cover that costs us more. ramsey and wilshere like to play further forward and ozil cazorla poldi are defensively woeful. giroud has to drop deep a lot as well

if we have someone who commands the area and is the enforcer all the players will play with a bit more surety, the passing will improve. ball retention will be better. players will not fear loosing the ball and will be able to express themselves more

so for me, if its just one signing or the marquee signing has to be a DM.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Very good post, sums things up nicely

Agree0 Disagree0

Absolutely true. Generally in the wenger era when we've been at our best, we've had a petit, Vieira or Gilberto in the team- we haven't had a player like one of those 3 for sometime imo.

So I really hope we'll get a player of that elk these week, please :)

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2014 15:17:39
Totally agree.

Agree0 Disagree0

I know we are desperate for a midfield enforcer, but am not too sure an elk would do a very good job there LG1. But with antlers like that, who knows!

Just kidding buddy :)

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2014 09:46:53
So far so good. We have won the Charity shield. We have made some great signings. We won our first home match & drawn away to Everton, a match we lost badly last season. The remainder of August will define our season. We need to qualify for the group stages of the Champions League. We need to sign at least one defender and a true defensive midfield player. We need to beat Leicester away.
I am already concened with the injury situation and the lack of rotation and available defensive choices in the squad. Players such as Debouchy, Chambers and since Gibbs injury, Monreal are playing every match, without rest.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

25 Aug 2014 09:46:10
Podolski is not a player we should be selling.

Madness if he goes.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He is good enough to play for us, but he's never being used. May as well sell him and buy someone wenger wants, he's being wasted sat on our bench.

Agree0 Disagree0

He's a great guy for the team I don't doubt. But technically not great, lacks any defining pace, strength or any other key attributes of a forward. Thus he's farmed out to the wing, where he's not great at helping out defensively so santi is favoured most of the time, rightly so in my opinion. Decent impact player with a bullet shot, but needs to up his work ethic if he is to stay.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2014 07:32:48
There was a very good post on here some weeks back when someone said you hardly hear people saying " Do you remember the great game Messi played against so and so? " or " Do you remember the great game Ronaldo played against so and so?" Right?
Well there is a reason for that and that's because they do it every week. That was a great post, by I don't know who now, but anyhow the point is that is the type of player we need at Arsenal. We don't need players that cause us to have to remember the last time they had a great game.
Haven't we surely gone beyond that stage in our history.
By the way. Love this site. Good ain't it?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Your last 2 posts kind of contradict each other. 1 your saying we need players of a standard who pull out world class performances week in week out. And the other you complain about the money being paid out. You can't have 1 without the other. That's why Arsenal have somewhat fallen behind

Agree0 Disagree0

On a more serious note.

I just think, after being in the 'dark' for so long and not being able to spend money during The Emirates move, we needed to have one Transfer Window when we went all out and splashed the cash.

We started this window buying very good players, Sanchez, Debuchy, Chambers, but Wenger seems like he is not going to buy anybody else.

We need another 2 very good/world class players, to complete the puzzle.

If we do that, we may not even need to buy players for another few more years as our 'Dream team' could be complete.

Let's hope Arsene has a few tricks up his sleeve in the next week.

Agree Rocky mate. It's down to the money you are right. It's always going to contradict itself no doubt. I don't know what the cure is going to be. Maybe the day will come when all the clubs end up overpricing everything that they get into so much financial trouble that they will have to go back to basics and think again.
There is no question my posts contradict each other there is a big problem out there but the money and greed is smoke screening it for the time being. You made a good observation mate.

Dortmund proved you don't need to spend big or pay a lot of wages to be competitive

The Di Maria signing goes to prove a point I feel.
Normally and I mean normally a top grade player will
want to play for a team that is in the Champions League agree?
Unless the money is so ridiculous that he would be mad to refuse it.
Some may say that he is very wealthy anyway and doesn't do it for the money. I say well apart from United having a great history. Last season and up to now they were dire so what other reason would you go there.
Maybe the 10 to 20 percent of the transfer fee plus the ridiculous wage every week helps!
The money is getting so out of control it's going to implode on the game at some point. How long do you all think its going to be before we see the first 1 million pound a week footballer and that's going to be just his wages. And before anyone thinks I'm losing the plot Messi pulled in over £50 million pound last season with endorsements. I believe the endorsements were around 20 odd million . The rest was wages and add ons.
It will get to the point where you won't be able to afford to have Sky or Cable and if you think I'm joking!
When sky was launched roughly 25 years ago it was FREE all you paid for was the box and installation I think it was £250.
When they launched the Sport channel I believe it was £2.99 a month!
Now tell me that Murdoch is not instrumental in killing the game for the working man. The clubs are not paying the wages WE ARE!

Agree mate,

Its all gone crazy and will continue to do so.
I think I pay about £26 per month for my sports channel.

Ridiculous.

Agree0 Disagree0

I guess the easy answer is to bin Sky. The more that do it will force them to bid lower for the football rights. However in the cold light of day I am sure Sky will say £26 per month to view multiple live premiership games compares very favourably with the cost of going to watch a single premiership game.

EPPING.I agree mate it would be all so easy if it was just £26 per month mate but we all know it isn't.
Mark my words as I'm writing this post Sky is working on a plan to be able to manipulate the law and televise live 3pm kick offs in a few years. They already paid £ 1.7 BIllion to the Premier league for 3 years. So paying out another few million for the 3 pm kick offs is going to be chicken feed. I reckon we will be given the opportunity to watch the 3pm games for a pay per game fee. I remember when they did it with the Boxing it's now a virtual pay per view event. They did it with Snooker. Nobody is going to convince me they are not working on the Premier League. It's not an 'If' its a case of 'When'
But at the end of the day it's 'Us' that will be paying the wages. Again!

Munir el haddadi ed?

Probably seen by barca as a great prospect, any interest or any chance of leaving?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed027's Note - I'm sure there is interest, but why an earth would Barca sell him? Unless someone meets his €35m+ release clause of course. I mean he's just played his first competitive game for the club and played very well

Di Maria to Utd for £64m.

Statement of intent.

Statement of desperate stupidity IMO

Statement of foolishness for the price. Especially if you go as high as ESPNs rumored layout. Payment, add ons and wage to be 150m over 5years.

Agree0 Disagree0

As good a player as di Maria undoubtedly is 64 million is about 30 million more than he is worth and just goes to show that united have to pay way over the odds for quality players now to even attract any.

I'd happily like to see arsenal spend half that on reus who is in my opinion twice the player that di Maria is.

They have zero bargaining power as they are so desperate, guessing Madrid just thought of a number and doubled it.

Now doubting he's a top player but £64 million is simply crazy.

Uniteds real problem is outside of 6-7 players they have a truly weak squad.
