What a lovely beautiful blue sky at wembley today, the pitch was like a carpet and the singer before the game was very good. Makes you feel good to be alive.

{Ed033's Note - Mourinho to announce his retirement?

26 Feb 2018 08:12:56
Wenger to get sacked. Any other manager would of been sacked a long time ago, its embarrassing. His management is not for the modern game and until Arsenal adjust to the times we will be struggling for a long time to come!

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Feb 2018 19:40:32
I posted earlier and it went in the other post page. Today Gunnerbod wasn't about who spends the most money. It was about two managers both coming off bad results. One has used it to motivate his team, the other who is so arrogant clearly did not. There are many, problems at our football club Gunnerbod and most of them stem from a manager who quite frankly can't do the job that his ego thinks he can.

The money thing is simply because it was City beating us, if it had been West ham it would have been no European football to cope with excuses and if it had been Wigan it would have been not having to cope with the premier league stresses and strains, you get where I'm going because like me you've heard them all before from the naughty stadium to bad luck with injuries like no other club in history to all our fantastic Young players potential coming good to we are just 2 or 3 players away.
An inbuilt excuse for any given situation has become our trade mark.

Agree2 Disagree0

25 Feb 2018 20:14:22
Lets stop the bull about money today we were beaten by a team that is well coached plays a passing game (which we used to) and defends as a team. defenders who head the ball instead of being pushed around by one of the smallest players on the pitch. our team try and pass to another player while he is surrounded by blue shirts and give up when the going got tough. i knew we would be beaten but it would have been nice to see some fight. we have one of the best defenders we ever had next to wenger does he have a say i think not. the manager sets up the team the buck stops with him. i think the team has stopped playing for him because his methods are in the past. we will not progress until something new is tried and i'm afraid it won't be while wenger is boss.

Agree1 Disagree0

25 Feb 2018 18:54:03
What a surprise the best team in the country is the team that spent the most money yet some fans say money has nothing to do with it! Arranging my weekends around football now is in the past when football was about football and NOT about money. I enjoyed those weekends but now it's about family at weekends, R.I.P proper football and scouting days!

Believable1 Unbelievable10

25 Feb 2018 19:18:49
Its not all about money mate, it's how you spend it than have a style of play that suit's the players you have bought.

We spent £40m on Mustafi, he's bang average.
£40m on Xhaka, he's bang average.
£42m on Ozil. How did he play?
£50m on Auba, and we can't even get the ball to him.

Remind me, how much did Wigan cost?

We could have the most expensively assembled team in world football, but when you play with no passion, no fight, no spirit, no commitment and no idea, you win nothing.

It's not just about money.

I wonder if Palce Southampton Watford were all feeling that way when we broke the record for Super Mac or paid Free agent Sol Campbell unheard of wages to join us?
Sour grapes and excuses,
Liverpool
Luckily for Mrs Branson and Mrs Sugar their husbands didn't see those who already had millions as unmovable obstacles they simply found a way of making billions without a silver spoon start in life.
Those who can't complain and make excuses for themselves while those who can find a way.

I am on the same page as you with the money - see my posts below.

However, we should be better than we are. More organised, more bite, more dominance in midfield and a shred of menace going forward. We were useless and it’s nothing new. We are slowly dissolving like sugar in hot tea, we are unrecognisable when compared to the invincibles or other decent teams Wenger has put out.

I am tired of being caught out by a stupid ball over the top - how naive are we?

I am tired of teams running through our midfield

I am tired of the team panicking when they defend as if they are being attacked for the first time. They are bloody professionals and have all the resources we can afford to get them defending

I am tired of us not even being able to attack - something we are meant to be good at.

We need to have a serious think as a club to determine what we are prepared to pu5 up with and what we will do to achieve success. Sent me thing just isn’t right

Get rid of - chambers, Xhaka, Elneny, Cech, Mustafi, Bellerin, Welbeck, Santi,

Replacements soon for - Nacho, Kos, Per,

Put Iwobi out on loan

Let’s start again - happy to call next season a write off if we build the foundations right.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - a sad but fair reflection that SY, kudos mate..

25 Feb 2018 19:54:21
We do need to start again SY and writing next season and maybe the one after off might be a price we have to pay to sort ourselves out from virtually from scratch.
Whether people like it or not we can't even begin to move forward until we thank and part company with Arsene, I think deep down everyone knows Arsene will never again be able to make us competitive over 38 games it's just that some people find it hard to actually admit it to themselves.

Dags I’m not talking about one game, last years winners Russian oil money, this years winners will be Middle East oil money, look at the bigger picture, unless you have oil money how can you get a big enough squad over the course of a season who would sit on the bench because they are getting paid stupid money? The last 5 years oil money clubs have won it in four times, or are you saying it’s only coincidence that oil money clubs have won the league the most times over the last 10 years!

we are currently exactly like man u, we have no identity! you can play well and lose, you can play shite and lose, as long as you know what your team identity is and play to it, ( like stoke for example) we have no identity, loads of instagram and snap chat posts but know team identity, , its the one thing klopp has given liverpool ( don't think they will ever win any thing) but at least you know what your getting when you watch them.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Feb 2018 21:35:12
Gunnerbod, I agree with what you say, you are correct.

But, look at the players we have bought, the price tag, the system we play and the fact our players don't turn up time and time again.

Are we not one of the richest clubs in world football?

The difference is, the owners of Man City financially back the manager, and the manager is willing to spend the money to win things.

Wenger on average, buys one big signing every window, but offsets that by selling about 4/ 5 players.

We are probably the only "big" team in football who makes a profit every transfer window.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Feb 2018 22:08:56
Dags stop bulling xhaka up, he's not as good as you stated.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Feb 2018 22:59:07
We do spend money but it seems very badly. We spent £55m on Lacazette and then what, barely a year later spend even more on a player who plays in exactly the same position, so we're are going to end up with a £55m sub sitting on the bench when we have major deficiencies elsewhere. A player like Mahrez would have been a much better signing, giving the team more width and balance.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Feb 2018 23:55:57
NES, the last 10 years oil owned clubs have won the title the most times, 4 times in the last 5 years but apparently has nothing to do with money.

How can these Wenger teams be allowed to continue? I can't believe how our defensive frailties haven't been addressed for so long now is beyond me. Years now, years.
There is a huge lack of fight and determination in our team. Remember the days of Adams, Keown, Wrighty, Vieira et al. Could you imagine those type of players ever performing like some of these do? There are so many just bang average or even worse players that fill the squad now.
I have agreed with everything Gary Neville has said on the commentary. Arsenal are a disgrace. Walking around the football pitch, at Wembley no less, when losing 2-0. Absolute disgrace.
Wenger should resign today.

If we'd pulled off a surprise victory it wouldn't have changed the minds of those who want Arsene to go and once the dust is settled on today all those who were quite happy with Arsene before kick off will feel the same by this time tomorrow.
Today doesn't and shouldn't change anyone's opinion either way.
Today changes nothing that many many poor performances and results didn't change before.

Agree2 Disagree0

25 Feb 2018 19:19:21
Such a soft display with no passion players without commitment and fight just strolling around. Yes Man city can out play you as they are a quality side but there is no excuse for the lack of commitment and physicality put into the game. Wenger is not able to motivate his players and quite simply has to go.

25 Feb 2018 18:00:32
Think Gary Neville summed it up right shocking defending midfielders strolling about.

25 Feb 2018 18:29:29
But RG61, you've been giving us YOUR opinions on here for ages and you've not even managed a football team!

Agree3 Disagree3

25 Feb 2018 18:32:36
Some are good manages others good pundits, if only brilliant managers were allowed to have an opinion and be worththy of voicing it we would be back to silent movies.

Agree1 Disagree0

25 Feb 2018 18:46:49
R Sharpe - Firstly, I have managed a team and quite successfully. Secondly, this is a fans forum and I am not paid to be on TV and give opinions. Saying that, I quite like Neville as a pundit, he is one of the few decent ones, but he was tainted by his failure as a manager.

25 Feb 2018 19:27:58
Who did you manage RG and what success did you achieve?

The atmosphere against Ciry in the league are will be horrendous. Wenger must go and give either Ancelotti or Marco Silva the job until the end of the season. It's pitiful. We lost the match when Wenger selected Ospina and Chambers. We let Gabriel go and kept Chambers!

Believable4 Unbelievable0

25 Feb 2018 18:00:12
And we rejected £16m from Palace for Chambers.

Agree2 Disagree0

25 Feb 2018 18:25:16
Absolutely SinGooner. We sold Gabriel for a pittance and bought back Chambers who had been relegated with Boro and turned down £16m for useless Chambers.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Feb 2018 17:26:38
Only we can concede a route 1 goal.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

25 Feb 2018 17:25:59
So we give away a goal with Wenger's idiotic high defensive line, leaving Aguero ahead of Mustafi. We play useless Chambers, instead of playing Welbeck wide left to keep Walker busy. We have no height in the team, so dead balls are ineffective. Wenger's influence is to argue with the 4th official and Guardiola.
Get Chambers off, go to a back four and bring Welbeck on. PEA is isolated. This shows exactly the problem with Wenger's post 2006 teams. No DM's and a totally disorganised defence. By the way Bellerin is a totally useless defender.

Believable6 Unbelievable0

25 Feb 2018 15:55:33
So Chambers is rewarded for that stellar performance Thursday with a start today. Unbelievable Jeff.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

25 Feb 2018 16:19:33
Half expected a return to 3 at the back to be fair, I think it's the right way for us to play today.
On the right hand side of a 3 chambers sort of makes sense as he is both a CB and RB which in theroy means he should cover Belerins attacking runs better than an out and out CB.
Whether it's right or wrong only time will tell but I personally would play chambers today because of what we have to chose from he's the best natural player to do that job.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Feb 2018 16:27:39
Chambers! Pitiful. I would rather play Holding.

Agree1 Disagree0

25 Feb 2018 17:07:43

Amazing stat / quote today - shows the horrid future of football and the impact of wealthy owners

Pep Guardiola's squad has been assembled for £777m - the most expensively built squad in the history of the game - while Arsenal's squad value is just £357m.

This statistic is eye opening in a lone capacity, but another financial review also sheds further light on Guardiola's distressingly monumental spending since his arrival at the Etihad.

"In total, Guardiola has bought £478m worth of players since his arrival in the Premier League, with a total net spend of £371m.

This dwarfs Wenger's spending at Arsenal since his arrival in English football back in 1996 - 21 years ago.

The Frenchman has spent just £349m net in his entire spell at Arsenal, meaning Guardiola has spent more in 21 months than Wenger has in over two decades."

I'm a little confused on how he got caught so cold.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Feb 2018 13:56:15
I saw a slightly different clip from the original one I looked at that showed him slowly walking back from a fair way out whilst his team were attacking and I can only think he assumed his team were being cheered on up the other end as at no point did he look around.

Apparently he got fined. 😂.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Duisburg scored a goal, he turns round expecting everyone to be heading back to the halfway line for the kick off and doesn't notice that the goal was disallowed and so play is restarted quickly.
