Use our rumours form to send us arsenal transfer rumours.

Hi all

Today was a funny game we had the majority of the possession and they caught us on the break 3 times. If Ramsey header had gone in early second half we may have gone onto win. all we can do now is consolidate what we have, go as far as we can in the Europa and try to get a top 4 finish. Play our strongest team every week now, this will give Emery the opportunity to see who is worthy of wearing the shirt and continue playing for arsenal next season and send the shirkers off asap.
Fans will be crying out for transfers before the deadline but I actually think loaning players till the end of the season is not a bad idea. If a Rodriguez or another experienced player (s) comes in till the end of the season, it will allow our very talented youngsters like Smith Rowe, Maitland Niles, mavopranos, nketiah, Willock, medley, and of course Nelson bed into the first team without any pressure. These talented youngsters could save us a fortune. Yes I agree we need quality to take us to the next level but quality buys must be merged with what we have. if we are going to spend 30 40 million on a 21 or 22 year old from abroad why don't we use our own talented youngsters. I believe Emery can mould them into quality players with a fighting spirit, this I believe is the way forward for arsenal. We have a nucleus of good players like Leno, bellerin, sokratis, torreira, auba, Lacazette and ozil.
PS. The elephant in the room is 350k ozil, what do we do with him? any new signing of quality will want the same, hence loan quality players and let our youngsters come through.

I hate getting beat like we lost today. We were playing well had a game plan and socratis injury, upset everything and we plainly took our eye off the ball. Credit to the team for getting us back in the game but then kos went off and for various reasons, one being pushing to get back in the game the other when 5 players backing off pogba for half the pitch without one taking charge and either instructing the nearest man or himself to at least try and tackle, is unforgivable.

Apart from losing, i actually enjoyed the game and thought we were very unfortunate but none of that wins you games and goals do. On the plus side, AMN played well, as did torreira, lacca was brilliant and i hope soc and kos aren't out for long because, its pretty obvious we need both fit and firing.

Maitland and Lacasette were both awesome Steve.

I think the way forward Just might have fell into our Laps.
With our attacking wing backs we have no full backs when hit on the break but because of injuries we may be forced into playing.
Maitland, Lich (natural rb) Mustafi Monreal (natural LB) Kol.
Lich and Monreal naturally know how to defend that full back territory which could in my opinion stop us getting totally exposed on the flanks.
We weren't awful tonight but United and Ole knew exactly how to play us and they did it extremely well.

Our luck with injuries! The main problem is resting any of the defenders now no matter how good or bad they are.

Hello Eds,
Just after a bit of of information regarding the club and it's finances if possible. I know there's been this whole thing about Arsenal only being able to afford loan deals this month and so on, but it looks like Suarez is really keen to get this Arsenal move sorted. Have we really pushed our finances to the limit that much that the £17m asking price from Barcelona is just not achievable at all? Understand our revenue decrease is also a factor but it's frustrating that we can't take advantage of this opportunity. Why are Arsenal that concerned with having a obligation to buy? If they are sceltical about him being good enough then why even pursue a loan in the first place.
Many thanks in advance.

{Ed002's Note - The issue with DS is as I have said. The obligation/option issue. They don’t want to commit funds if it doesn’t work out. There is nothing sinister really here.}

I just had a brief look at the clubs financial figures on the official site and they look very healthy, with profits growing, despite no CL football and large reserves of over £200m.
I wonder if the 'loan' only this window is to do with FFP and or PL wage rules? In addition are the club adjusting the way they function financially as they are fully aware the January transfers are very difficult and often very costly. In the summer new sponsorship deals with Addidas and Emirates kick in and players, some with high wages will be moving on, etc: Cech, Welbeck, Ramsey and possibly others such as: Jenkinson, Ozil, Martinez, Lichsteiner and Elneny.
In respect of Suarez, it must be as ED002 says that the club want to see if he adapts to the PL, and I have a feeling that the new guys want to try and buy well and get the wages back under control. If other clubs, players and agents think that Arsenal are loaded, then it makes purchases and wages dearer.

If the fee is 17 million with a commitment wouldn't a compromise be possible of a 3 million loan payment then another 17 million in the summer if we want to keep him making it 20 million rather than the 17 asking price?
I'm not sure if that's possible but if we want guarantees then surely we should pay for that option.

{Ed002's Note - Think of it the other way around - the selling club want him gone in the summer, they do not want to start the process all again.}

Fair comment Ed002 mate, in that case the ball is in our court and we either need to agree or move on and let Barcelona and Suarez do the same.

Can’t really recall 62 mate if it goes to extra time or reply. I think it will be 2-1 for us as Urban mentioned.

I think our full backs need to have a big game tonight.

We need to be wise to United sucking us in and then devastating us on the break, Liverpool Chelsea and Spurs all came to the Emirates ready and willing to impose their attacking football on us and we coped well but we can and do go all soppy at the back when we are the ones in command of the majority of possession.

Discipline organisation and more Discipline are what we are in need of most if we are to improve beyond our current " after you sir " shot for shot approach.
The result is important but in the long run improvement in discipline and controlling a game are more important. Top teams can both defend and score goals adequately well.

We have a decent home record against top 6, it depends on the team put out but i would hope we can win 2 or 3-1. I do think it will be a great game, whatever.

Very tough match tonight, it depends on who both teams select tonight with a heavy schedule ahead. My gut feelings is a score draw.

Wow, what happen to our legend Henry? Was he at fault amd ready for management or was it Monaco as team not wanting to give anything?
Would’ve the arsenal performed better under him if he was appointed instead of Emery?

Wrong place wrong time for Henry imo. Monaco were in a right mess before they brought him in. We all know that Henry has a soft spot for Monaco and he saw it as a good opportunity but ultimately it wasn't. He needs more time and really needs to take his next move carefully.

I think different clubs need different types of managers at different times, Moyse at Preston then Everton was right man at the right clubs at the right time but at United it was the complete opposite.
Who knows if Moyse and LVG swapped timings things might have turned out much different for Moyse at United.
When you hire a manager I think you have to look at what you are looking to replace and why you are replacing them
Henry would have been betrer going down the Lampard route at a club like Derby in my opinion where he would be hugely respected and be given time to learn his trade without huge egos and expectations to manage on day one.
If he has it in him he will shine through and come good.
On joining Arsenal in place of Emery I think it would have been a double disaster because he doesn't have the experience to break the cosy club plus if it ended badly his Arsenal love affair Would be have to suffer because of it.
