Would have taken him from the pool, but not sure what they have done to him at Chelsea to ruin him but long may it continue. On his day was unplayable though and under right management may come good again (mourinho possibly) do not see arsene as the man to bring best out in him

Torres was top class at Pool under Benitez, has failed at the Ski's since even when Benitez there last season not much bettter so is he now just going through the motions and drawing the big bucks, as we know with Arshavin, if we want world class we need someone who wants to put in 100%

Not posted in a while. All this Higaun talk is really exciting, I personally think he is a quality striker, given regular football at Arsenal he will become world class. His technique and finishing are superb. He is that striker who will score in big games that we are missing.

Regarding other positions, we should continue to get rid of dead weight first.

Gervinhio out - Dimitri Payet In
Diaby out - Lars Bender In
Djourou out - Kurt Zouma In
Fabianski out - Cesar In

That's all fairly do able. I really believe Bender will be another top player given more football at the top level.

Also hope we keep Sagna, Vermaelen and Rosicky

Whats peoples thoughts on who will be captain next year for Arsenal?

I can see the captaincy being given to Arteta over the summer, and TV being made vice (if he stays, which I think he will do).

Any other alternatives?

Jack, or too young? Perhaps a bit too soon for him, give him the freedom to develop, etc. But one for the future.

I think you've highlighted something that's bothered me for a while.

tbh, beyond arteta, I can't think of anyone else suitable- which actually speaks volumes about certain aspects/attributes of our current squad.

Kos, Walcott, sagna, mertz, ramsey, etc, etc?

Not a chance- if you think back to adams, Vieira and other 'non-captain' leaders we once had within our squad.

I hope we will see more leadership added to our squad.

I agree with LG in that Jack is our only captain "character" in the squad but it is too soon to give him the armband.

Although how many games are we expecting Arteta to play? Not sure.

Interesting point, have just run through squad and Jack is only born leader in squad and as you say far too much pressure at this stage of his career, this is bit disturbing and surely should have been addressed sooner even recent deserting captains have not been true leaders and in reality should have a leader in every position on the pitch. Not sure if its because he is true fan and it's his heart that drives him or more likely all others in not just our team but league, just a bunch of overpaid pansies who don't want to get their hands dirty

I think Ramsey will become a leader soon enough, was Wales captain under Gary speed.

There is still 4 strikers that are supposed to open to offers or possible targets. Suarez, Carvani, Villa and jovetic. hopefully this will keep the likes of city away from Higuain. km {Ed027's Note - No doubt City will go for the likes of Cvani, Suarez even Rooney first

The interesting thing now will be where the Fiorentina striker will go. He is a versatile player. They will not want their old enemy juventus to buy him. they have never forgiven them for taking Robberto Baggio away. Juventus and arsenal were the two teams he was linked with. I really can't see us getting another forward if we bag Higuain and the French lad. What do you think Ed? km

So, Tevez - Juventus is all but done. So now, we have no competition for Higuain? Surely Ancelotti can't shatter all our dreams and make him stay? If not, surely he's ours. ? I remember getting excited as Mata was about to sign, though. I always panic until its all definitive.

is Fellani really the player we need? a big physical presence yes, good when attacking but not really defensively minded! (loves getting carded too) I don't care if he has stated dm is his favoured position, the evidence is there, if you have watched motd or any football for last few season's you can see this! 22 mill aswell, I just think he is'nt the answer and there is better defensive minded players out there, for around that money or even cheaper perhaps!
id prefer to see a dedicated dm be brought in (makalele type). a position we have severly lacked in for f**k knows how long! any thoughts on the subject guys?

Just seen a tony Adams interview and I believe he has truly lost the plot! He was saying he's not sure we should get higuain and that we need 2 new full backs the bloke is a legend but he is off his nut!

What he said about Higuain kind of makes sense because he was saying that he doesn't want arsenal signing big club cast offs. But I have to say I think real are crazy to cast off Higuain like they are going so I would be more than happy to see him in an arsenal shirt

Tony adams is indeed a legend, however his comments lately have left a bitter taste especially as we are trying to attract big name players to the club, I dread to think if he was appointed as chairman to the board he would sanction a team full of defenders, his negative approach in the last few days has me shaking my head in disbelief I want to remember him as a legend not a LEG END

Every player signed by Arsenal is a clubs cast off. Otherwise they wouldn't be signed!

Higuain is an amazing player and at 25 this could be a season changer of a signing.

A few stupid rumours if I may dismiss. We are in for a 18 year old left back. to go with the 3 we already have. If you think Santos is a left back. And Rooney going to Barca. yeah right, hello. they have just signed Naymar. I think these persons who are so called Journalists, should be a little bit more realistic with their fabrication. And while I'm on the subject. where will he play if we buy Higuain. I think it's going to be difficult finding a place for Carzola, Jack and Artera if we buy a defensive midfielder. To accommodate these players we need to play 5 in midfield with Higuain up front on his own. Carzola on left, Arteta and defen mid in the middle, Walcott on right with jack behind Higuain. A nice problem to have, but I would rather 4-4-2. km

Cazorla should defo not be played on the wing. far better in centre I think. you are right though, nice problem to have. hope wenger solves it. should be able to play better teams against lower league opposition in the cups. unlike last year! then again this is arsenal

A teams strength comes through depth. So if one of them is left on the bench it's no big loss. It's good to have a very high quality sub and allows for rotation

Of course I am excited with all the Higuain rumours, but I will not count the chickens before they have hatched. As soon as the season ended, we were very much linked with Jovetic, then that interest seems to have cooled off. then came Fellaini, cooled off for a while and resurfaced again. Higuain saga seems to be taking forever, would be gutted if we lost out on him. Rooney was hot for a while, cooled off and re-surfaced again.

I know that's the way with rumours, but with Arsene Wenger not saying anything, we cannot know for sure. So far, there is no reason for us to believe that anything is different from last season. I know Arsene will spend money, but I just hope he doesn't leave it too late when all the exciting and talented players have been snapped up, leaving us with no choice but to go to the Discount Isle once again

Juve are apparently now pursuing tevez, tevez leaves city for juve and with dzeko's future undecided it leaves them with only aguero up top. A club like city will not only have 1 star striker on their books, with the likes of cavani and Suarez wanting to go to Madrid there aren't many top class
Strikers available for them to get.
We all know they could blow us out the water financially if they decided to go for him!

Im not being pessimistic but it's a thought

Last time I suggested this I got shot down but I am convinced Real won't allow Higuain to leave until they have a marquee signing to show off, making the fans happy. I think it'll be Isco. So this signing will take much longer, I expect Higuain to join, but not till early July

Think they need money from deal to buy a striker. Isco is at at an advanced stage according to marca. Suprised they can buy two big players. None of us know the fine details, some pretend to. Think the amount of money we are putting upfront might be the key. Higuians dad/ agent used to play football in France in the latter part if his career. maybe him and Arsene speaking same same lingo could be a good thing. let's not kid ourselfs, he is leaving the biggest club in the world so he can play football, and not rotate with other forwards. km

As long as higuain and other quality players sign for us, I really don't care how long it takes tbh- its only some fans impatience/anxiety - although its understandable given some of our track record in deals, but we have to trust they are working on bringing players to our club.

We can only sit and wait, which is the hard part ofc!

I've heard people say before that Madrid aren't cash rich, but they received a large amount from Emirates recently and I can't think of how they've spent this?

Micah Richards is being targeted by both Milan teams and Chelski. Has had injury issues but wouldn't he be the perfect fit for us.

It would only be a good deal if he could be bought for under 10mil and if he came in and was able to adapt straight away, injury problems aside, he would be great for right back and cb positions, I wouldn't like it if he was brought in and given the rb spot because jenks has made massive strides, he is not at the brilliant consistant level that sagna had at his pomp but can definitely get there. I think best for all if we can tie sagna down on another contract, financially and it would cause the least bother if i'm honest.

Gervinho is getting interest from a lot of clubs. He is seen as a decent player who could do a really good job, but having flopped at AFC rather than 'being crap'. Galatasaray, Fernebahce, Lille and a bunch of other teams have shown interest and it's likely that he will leave.

And I do believe while we are perhaps in talks with Man U, it will be for Nani not Rooney. Just my hunch!
