Wow what an inept performance today. A big thank you to Sunderland, xmas comes in December normally. 3 points is always the main aim and that is what we got, but what is going on. How many times do we get a free kick in the opponents half and three passes and it's back with the bloody goalkeeper. Cazorla, where did you get them boots from, they give a new dimension to nike air. Why keep cazorla on and take the ox off, i'm baffled. Well at least its an easy three points from Burnley next, I hope.

Steve,

We are playing poor mate.
No cohesion, no confidence, no va va voom but, if we keep picking up 3 points, I will be happy.

How many times do we rip teams apart and lose/draw?
Well, we are playing 5hite but winning.

I'll have a piece of that pie, thank you very much.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dags while we we win that's great, I just hope we can continue.

Swallow our pride and re sign Cole, the horrible dutch bloke, nasty little nasri and go on to be Pl and Cl champions 2015/16
Or
Stand firm refuse to forgive and forget and be forever 4th?
Its a tough one I admit but which one would you chose if no other choices?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

25 Oct 2014 23:08:55
That is no choice mate, Cole is passed his sell buy date and Nasri would probably rather set his head on fire than rejoin us.

Just like Song, who had great games for us, but they were normally spaced 10 games apart.

Let's leave the signing ex players bow locks alone and look at buying players the quality of Sanchez and Ozil where we need them.

People want us to win 5h1t then sign any old duffer just because they've got two Fricking legs half the time.

Does my nut!

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Oct 2014 23:09:04
From what I saw today, although I have said it before, gutted we didn't bring Song back.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont care what most people say. Song was a very very good player for us. If u asked the lads today would they want song lining up with them today I think they would say yes.

Agree0 Disagree0

Song was superb yesterday the performance he put in is what we miss, can he do it week in week out?

Who knows

But he looked a bargain for Big Sam yesterday

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Oct 2014 11:11:37
Songs biggest problem was his ego and the fact 'apparently' was very disruptive in the dressing room, change in attitude and I'd have him back. Not being good enough for Barca might have curbed his attitude slightly, hopefully.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Oct 2014 11:22:03
No suprise Song put in a disiplined DM effort under Sam, no getting caught in no mans land in the attacking third.

That was a great display by the Irons. tactical innovation, disciplined positioning, focus, wing play, a link-up strike play, high tempo pressing game, counter-attacking, timely substitutions. Maybe we should go for their manager 😉 -;) -;).

Agree0 Disagree0

Ye 1404 many say he was an person. That barca failed move must of brought him back down to earth. Still love the time he walks forward for the trophy when its actually for abidal lol.

Why do our players go to barca. Helb had a shocker he was immense here. Verm I don't think will take off over there. Injurys etc

What with the imminent arrival of Theo, can Sanchez play on the left?

I think he can but not too sure.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

25 Oct 2014 20:48:11
Sanchez plays on either wing and swaps throughout the game.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sanchez can play anywhere, and I mean anywhere

Agree0 Disagree0

He's said his preferred position is coming in from the left onto his right foot dags.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Oct 2014 21:46:15
I was sure Sanchez said he preferred to play on the left. I think it was in an answer he gave when he was talking to a reporter about where Arsene intended to play him.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Oct 2014 21:47:31
Thought so, thanks boys.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sanchez can play left, right, front, back and goalkeeper, allin the same game. LEGEND.

Agree0 Disagree0

I still think sanchez is best behind the striker. He has the pace and drive to grt beyond the striker. He won't play there though because he's also class on the wing. So i'm guessing he will play left wing

Agree0 Disagree0

Theo has also swapped flanks often in his game when there is a winger who can do it, so with theo and sanchez on the wings with either olly and welly as striker the future is bright I just hope they don't put ozil on the left and let him have the free role and use ramsey and wilshere in a rotation of one plays the other rests and visa versa, I still say you can't have ramsey, ozil and wilshere playing at the same time, it just don't work.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he's a little short to play in goal but he would probably give 110% if he did

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Oct 2014 19:49:42
We are 3/4 players and a new manager who can get the best out of players away from the title.

For me:

Take: 2 World Class CB's and a World Class DM and the team becomes a vast deal stronger and has depth at back.

Add another pacey winger to replace Poldi (he'll sadly leave) and you're looking at a top squad.

Add a top manager who plays the modern way and can get the best tactically out of players and we'll be onto something.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

25 Oct 2014 20:14:13
I see where you are coming from G95 but,

If we get 2 worldie Centre Backs and we have Per and Kos, where are they all going to fit in?

TV5 was an above average CB and we lost him because he wasn't happy bench warming.

Its one thing signing them, but another thing playing them and keeping them all happy, bearing in mind we can't do what City do and pay players £130,000 to sit on the bench.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Oct 2014 20:47:23
I think when Jenkinson comes back he will be reserve RB and that will mean Chambers will mostly play at CB.

I would sell Monreal as he is good, but simply not good enough and ageing. Probably get around £5m for him. i'd then buy a top LB to compete with Gibbs and also cover for the 10-15 games a season Gibbs misses through injury. Maybe Fabio Coentrao if he becomes available? He can't be happy on the bench Madrid for the past 3/4 seasons.

CB I think Mertesacker is already in decline. Next season he won't be half the player he is, and with age he will only get slower. So Subotic, Papadoplous, Bonucci, Javi Martinez or Abdennour (AS Monaco, reminds me of Kompany) would all be perfect.

CDM we obviously need someone who can retain the ball, pass and keep things ticking over in midfield aswell as be able to tackle and bring a more physical presence. Lars Bender and Javi Martinez suit that role perfectly. Sadly Schnierderlin or Cabaye are more realsitic options, but i'd still be happy with that.

I don't think we need anymore players in attacking roles unless there are departures. Podolski leaving would give
Gnabry and Ox more game time with Walcott and Sanchez as starters on the wings. Ozil and Cazorla adequalty fill the CAM position and Ramsey and Wilshere both fill the box to box midfielder role alongside the DM. Then there's Rosicky, Diaby and Campbell.

I don't think a new manager is needed at all. Yes Wengers tacticd are partly to blame for our slow start to the season, but the players underperforming are just as responsible. Ozil, Ramsey, Mertesacker have been very disapointing. Then there's injuries to key players such as Giroud, Debuchy, Walcott and Koscielny.

Agree0 Disagree0

Detroit, wenger is to blame for it all, baffling, or lack of tactics, poor team selections, poor substitutions, injuries and not buying in weak positions.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dags,

Per needs to go. Never suited this league. Hampers our defending. Kos guaranteed at least 2 lengthy injuries a season. So you have 3 top CB's with 2 new and Kos. That's the minimum every top team should have.

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree Steve

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Oct 2014 13:22:52
G95,

Id buy someone to push for a strating place and ultimatley replace Mertesacker as 1st choice. Mert and Chambers would be more than adequate cover.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree detriot gooner. Our centre half signing should hopefully be the best defender at the club

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Oct 2014 19:18:32
The day sanchez turned liverpool down for us was massive. There struggling to gel. Markovic 20mill. Wow

We are in a much better position in terms of the whole club and future

Signing of the season.

Take note Mr Ozil.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

25 Oct 2014 17:38:39
Hardly an inspiring performance but a win is a win.
We have the obvious absences in defence and we all know that DM position is a problem but something just isn't clicking further up the pitch. Too much sideways and backwards passing and today some really good changes skied over the bar as well as some woeful passing and indecisiveness.
If I knew what to do about it then I am in the wrong job.
I think the return of Walcott will be a boost and we have to take confidence from 2 away wins in a row.
We can't keep relying on the likes of Liverpool to continue dropping points, hopefully we'll put a run of results together, next couple of games are winnable

Believable0 Unbelievable0

25 Oct 2014 17:18:51
My gut feeling about us being 3 up after 14 mins.

Sorry, chalk that down to a dodgy kebab.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

That explains the aweful jokes, just a bad diet

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Oct 2014 16:58:47
I'm going to say it.

We need to get rid of Gibbs or at least sign a starting left back and have Gibbs as cover and get rid of Monreal.

Don't get me wrong. I think Gibbs is probably the most underrated full back in Europe and I can't remember the last time he had a stinker on the pitch. But his proneness to injuries is costing us. I don't think he's EVER had a season during which he was fit from start to finish.

He would make ideal cover for a full back of equal quality who can actually stay fit, or failing that, we should just cash in on him while others will still pay and keep Monreal as cover.

As good as he is. He's a massive risk.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

25 Oct 2014 17:05:35
To be fair, they're aren't many players who stay fit from start to finish, but I get where you are coming from.

Agree0 Disagree0

We should have been grown up and made a very professional decision to bring back Ashley Cole for free and let Gibbs/Cole share the role with Monreal as cover for injuries.
Unpopular most deffinately but such brave decisions make champions.
Fabregas Song Cole all moved this summer and none would have made success less likely.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Oct 2014 17:34:45
G62,
I would take Cesc back.
I would take Song back.
I would have taken RVP back.

Cole? No way.
He went behind our backs and encouraged Chelsea to 'tap' him up and laughed in our faces when we offered him a new and improved contract.

And he cheated on Cheryl AND NOBODY CHEATS ON CHERYL.

:-)

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Oct 2014 17:39:31
completely disagree with you g62. He's a cat runt

Agree0 Disagree0

Dags/Sheeny totally understand how you feel and don't say I feel that different on a personal level but on a strictly cold business manner without emotion it would make good sense

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Oct 2014 18:37:37
I understand where you are coming from G62, but as Simon Cowell would say, "its a no from me".

Agree0 Disagree0

No to Cole and RVP and Nasri if it ever comes up - just too self- entitled and not for us.

Yes to Cesc and Song. Too bad as Song would be good for Cb cover as well - he's improved from Barca.

Agree0 Disagree0

Cant blame cole. He deserved. Every penny we wanted. Top class. Rarely missed a game

Agree0 Disagree0

I meant ever penny we wanted lol. I think we under valued him

Agree0 Disagree0

Spending limitations, wage limitations and high principles are all very admirable and wins lots of praise from rival fans and parts of the media etc but can that combination ever be turned into titles?
Not sure if we can topple chavs city utd of this world having all three hurdles to jump

Agree0 Disagree0

Im with you gunner cole would have been perfect. It was arsenal that sh** on cole.

Agree0 Disagree0

Just realised I miss spelt my post twice. Apologises all round lol. I meant HE wanted.

Anyway back to the drawing board

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Oct 2014 13:57:13
I just don't get how you think it was an option. Arsenal (the fans) don't like Cole and Cole doesn't even like Arsenal any more. Just because he was available doesn't mean he was available to us.

So there's nothing to "grow up" about.

Also it wouldn't have been a "brave" decision it would have been a slight against the fans.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Oct 2014 16:52:08
Sanchez. What a guy. Chases everything. Reminds me of a dog in a park with a ball. Happy to be out and about chasing and catching.

Id add reus to our left side. The price he will leave for will be below his value I think.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Every man and his dog is likely to be in for him though, which means either a bidding war or where he wants to go, can't say either puts us as favorites

Agree0 Disagree0

Looks like 3 pts

2 up and 2 from Sanchez, and more importantly a clean sheet .

Nice to see Theo on the bench, hopefully see him next week against Burnley where we need to get another 3 points .

Good win.

Cazorla has been tata all season and needs dropping he could have had 5 today!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

25 Oct 2014 16:54:25
I think it's time we offload him. He's not been the same player since his first season and it shows that the premier league isn't for someone of his stature (or lack thereof) barring his FA Cup free kick and goal against Tottenham he's done nothing to warrant a place in the starting XI when the squad is fully fit.

Teams are still willing to pay pretty much what we did for him. I say we cash in on him before it's too late and he just becomes more dead wood on the wage books.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Oct 2014 17:45:01
He'd make a great clown with all the balloons he's pulling out!

He's been dreadful in the shoot for a good few months now but the man is custard. The position's he got himself into today were great. Granted he shouldn't be fluffling him. Bench player? Only because we have 10 no. 10s. Offload him? Absolutely not

Agree0 Disagree0

If atletico want him i'd be happy to take arda turan in exchange even if we have to pay. That guy is a work horse and winner

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Oct 2014 16:45:55
It seems to be that at least one of these things always happens during an Arsenal game, and IF only one occurs, I count it as a good/lucky game.

1) We concede a headed goal
2) We concede a from a set piece
3) Gibbs gets injured
4) Diaby gets injured
5) Jack gets injured
6) We commit a defensive howler and get punished.
7) The ref has an absolute stinker, costing us points.
8) Szczezny gets sent off.
9) Koscielny concedes a penalty
10) Chambers gets booked.
11) Flamini gets booked
12) We pass when we should shoot.

Granted 12 does always happen and 7 isn't so much to do with us, but it would be hard to argue that all of the above happen far too frequently. At least Bellerin will finally get the run in the team he deserves.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Great list, i'd like to add: Arteta concedes dangerous free kick.

And : Flamini pointing at team mates, oppostion, open space, the croud, sky and anything else he can point and wave furiously at.

And heres a new one that is starting to become a reugar occurrence: Alexis bails us out

Agree0 Disagree0

Shez has a rush of blood.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Oct 2014 13:29:56
Id add:

Wenger moaning to the 4th Officiall.

Cazorla and Wilshere waving arms at the ref after being tackled instead of trying to win the ball back.

No substitutions til the 70th minute

I wonder if we can create some sort of drinking game from this?

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Oct 2014 16:06:24
Ahoy Gunners, have not posted in a while but I have a bit of a confession that I have to get off my chest.

I have to first start off by claryfying that I am a straight man who can't get enough of the opposite sex.
But there is something about Alexis Sanchez that makez me want to sing: " Take my haaaaannnd, come with me baby to love laaaaaannnd. Float on, float on. "

I know Charlie had a thing for Remy, but Remy is just Remy.
No more then a transfer window fling.

Alexis on the other hand. my girlfiend won't understand.

Float. float on

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Well you take Alexis and I'll take his girlfriend ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Oct 2014 17:12:19
Rabbit,

You are right, my flirtation with Remy was a mere schoolboy crush, lol.

Yours however, I can see a court order and a banning restriction dropping through your letter box any day now.

Worried mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

Must be the way he pulls those shorts up nice and high ;-))

Agree0 Disagree0

Rooster knows what i'm talking about.

The diiference between me and you Dags is A. I pick them well. And B. i'm ready for all the hate I will get from Arsenal fans and Chileans for kidnapping their most prized asset.

Gents i'm applying for planning permission for one of those dungeons.

25 Oct 2014 18:39:43
Rabbit, you are on a slippery slope to hell, lol.

May your God go with you:-)

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Oct 2014 14:34:12
Surely playing arteta and flamini is giving Sunderland too much respect, got to go all out attack from the start and not give them a chance to get some confidence back

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Would like to see Ramsay and Theo on for the second half

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Oct 2014 15:54:00
Eden, I thought that but, with Sunderland camped on the edge of there box it's cut any counter attack out.

Horrible defending by brown, but great finish from sanchez.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Oct 2014 13:22:24
Song is having an excellent first half for the 'ammers v M City

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He has bossed it. He pisses all over arteta and flamini. On loan how did we not make it happen

Agree0 Disagree0

What a game. And song was deservedly man of he match. He could definitely have done a job for us. He's much better than what we currently have.
It's the key position to sort out in January.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Oct 2014 16:06:32
So what! I like everyone stated we needed a DM and more defenders but feel it is a knee jerk reaction yet again. So Song had a good game . At work if an employee left in the manner Song left and wanted to come back no matter how much I needed them t I would say no F***ing chance! Surely a bit of integrity is needed and I for one don`t blame Wenger for not signing him back!
COYG

Agree0 Disagree0

We took flamini back sussex.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Oct 2014 17:15:54
Sussex,

Song did have a few problems, but I'm not sure if he asked to leave, as far as I remember.

And he is better than what we have.

Season long loan at Upton Park?
We should have brought him back, ala Flamini.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Oct 2014 01:06:51
Man, I called for Song to come back during the window and you blokes absolutely roasted me.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Oct 2014 12:45:21
See Sagna is on the Citeh bench again, what a shame he didn't stick around and finish his career with us, he was ok at CB too

Believable0 Unbelievable0

25 Oct 2014 11:55:46
So anything less than 3pts today and it will be THE WORST start to a premier league season under Arsene Wenger.

More crack papering over with a 3-1 Arsenal win.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

One win from the last seven PL games says enough for me.

Very poor

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Oct 2014 10:45:03
Heard a statistic yesterday that shocked me, I might have the numbers wrong but apparently:

Win Ratio without Theo: 42%

Win Ratio with Theo 69%

Believable0 Unbelievable0

25 Oct 2014 11:03:17
Doesn't surprise me.

Have always said Theo is our best, if not influential, player.

Agree0 Disagree0

He is our most important player imo. He makes everything we do happen at pace which is what football is all about now.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Oct 2014 13:55:54
That amazes me. Not that I'm calling you 337, but I would love to see the source

Agree0 Disagree0

Was on a certain radio station and a Mr Durham who hates Arsenal said it

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Oct 2014 16:43:54
I don't think you can really take that stat for what it is as he's missed so many games, I hope he comes back strong and firing though!

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Oct 2014 18:37:34
Looked it up. The stat may be referring to the beginning of last season up to his injury. He featured in 18 games with a 75% win ratio. Our win ratio was considerably less without him during that time but stat could be skewed by the fact that he missed games the 1-0 loss to United. 3-1 loss to Dortmund. And 2-0 League Cup loss to Chelsea. (Not the same as putting away Hull if you get my drift)

In the 13 games following his absence we dropped to 54%. However at that time Ozil and Ramsay injured. And we played Munich. This may also include the likes of the Cheslea/Liverpool games we don't mention but Walcott wasn't our only absentee

Now that's not exactly what you're saying and it may not be the same stretch of fixture but, stats can't be bent to your will.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Oct 2014 09:26:49
Anyone on here who thinks because Sunderland lost 8-0 last week will be a pushover today are in cuckoo land.

Last week was the worst possible result for US, they will be so fired up today.

Lets not forget we had a tough game on Wednesday and got back in the early hours of Thursday morning

Mr Wengers comments after todays game

Believable0 Unbelievable0

No games in the EPL are easy, but i'd rather play them after they were destroyed than if they were sky high in confidence.

We have enough in attack to win these games but our defenders need to concentrate.

1-3 I say

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Oct 2014 11:01:46
Remember, gut feeling.

3-0 up after 14 mins.

Remember during WC when I posted before game that Germany will be 5-0 after half hour against Brazil?
I was right.

Got same gut feeling.

In Dags we trust :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Did you really post that Dags? What would the odds have been on that?

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Oct 2014 15:32:27
Yep 337, I posted Germany to be 5-0 up after half hour, wish I put a bet on at the time lol

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Oct 2014 09:17:52
Having gone into the season with only 6 forst team defenders, it's frightening to think that with Debuchy & Koscielny out for the foreseabale future, that the remaining defenders will stay fit until the new year. Against Sunderland I would like to see Chambers played at centre back, with Bellerin at RB & Monreal on the bench. Perhaps, when Arteta is back to full fitness we could try Flamini at RB, to give defenders a rest.
I am still amazed that Wengers thought we would get away with such a lack of defenders & defensive midfield players.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Robbie, I'd like to see chambers at CB too but he does look our best option at RB ATM.

Monreal played ok in the week it was Per that let us down, it does look like Kos has been carrying him.

Lastly, we need to stop going over the lack of signings as there is nothing we can do about it until Jan, right now the players we have need to step up to the plate and if they can't then a clear out is just as important as new signings.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Oct 2014 23:40:54
Wenger claims that we are 5 per cent from being our best.

What was he smoking that he failed to see the plethora of problems that were made abundantly clear on Wednesday night?!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Maybe he meant 50%?

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Oct 2014 10:57:36
CIG,

I think you misread it.

He meant 105%, lol.
