Seems we have a lot of alter egos on here Sanogo mate, do you reckon Dags is really a driving instructor? Seems a bit far fetched to me :-)

FYI: Dags is NOT a driving instructor. It's probably what he told everyone because he's very humble, but he's actually a DIVING instructor. You'll have seen his handiwork on many a football pitch across Europe.

Watching football years and there's a bit about Berkamp I was just curious to know what Ed001 thoughts are on him? I'm going to guess you loved him, he seems well up your street I would think.

{Ed001's Note - one of my favourite players of all time. He was so talented but he could also dish out a bit when it was needed. I like that in a player, that he can play and mix it. I doubt there is anyone who didn't love him, even those who are Tottenham fans would probably (very grudgingly) admit that he was a classy player. His vision was unreal at times and he had such a lovely touch on the ball.}

Tonight's line up and formation makes it our strongest team we've put out all season.
Ramsey Lacasette like Sanchez is 100 better than having hin cmf especially next to Xhaka, speaking of who is far better suited to having a more disciplined player Elney/ Le Coq next to him.
Individually Mesut is one of our best two players but he is suited to us playing our most effective team with the players we have.

Absolutely Gunner62, for once I couldn't fault the team selection, which was spot on.

Fitting in your best players doesn't always produce your best team RG mate.
How many times have Germany reached yhe latter stages of a world cup with a poor squad but a good system that gets the best out of their squad while England have struggled with better individual players over the years?

I fully agree Gunner62. I thought playing Elneny was a master stroke and he played really well, as did my man of the match Monreal and as you well know I have been a critic of his.
There was such balance to the team and once it settled down in the second half we took over total control. My only critiscism is that we tend to start slowly and were pushing too high defensively, hence the Mustafi 'incident'. It will be interesting to see the Bate team selection.

I read that PSG have offered Cavani a million quid to hand over his penalty duties to Neymar. Is this true? If it is, it's bonkers, but I can only guess it has something to do with bonuses for goals scored that Cavani would otherwise miss out on if Neymar took all penalties.

He must have a clause in his contract to say he must take all penalties.

Apparently has a clause where he gets a mill if he is league top scorer.

Call me crazy but I'd love to see Ed002's 9 goal thriller tonight.

Eds 002 and 007 are leading the way with predictions so it's either a 9 goal fantasia or a back to the drawing board 1 1 draw :-)
Which Arsenal will turn up this evening I wonder?

With a heavy schedule this week, including the trip to Bate, I am interested in how we cope with only having 7 fit defenders for the 5 defensive positions. Assuming that we play Wenger's current back five in the two PL matches, who do we play against Bate, without three players playing all three matches in a week.
So in the PL: Bellerin, Mustafi, Koscielny, Monreal and Kolasinac.
Against Bate, we can play Holding and Mertesacker, but with Chambers and Debuchy out injured, we either play 3 of defenders in all three matches or we could play Holding and Mertesacker in two of the matches, resting defenders in the process. RB is a real problem, as the only real alternative to Bellerin is Maitland-Niles who clearly doesn't look comfortable in the RWB role. One questions Wengers decision to sell Gabriel and Oxlade without bringing in replacements. Quite frankly I can't see Debuchy playing for us again, so we have entered the season with only 8 defenders for 5 positions. Imagine we pick up an injury to a defender this week we could be in desperate trouble.

For a second there, I thought someone was actually going to make the trip, then saw all the words and put 2 + 2 together and got 61.

What's done is done there is nothing to be achieved by going over last summers window failures again, we are where we are we have who we have and that's it we've got to simply make the most and best of what we have.
You can give one man a whole supermarket full of food to chose from and he will still insist on serving you up a Cheese sarnie and telling you its a feast while if you limit another man to just the fruit and veg section he will still produce a 3 corse banquet that will leave you both full and happy.
It's more about how you use what you do have rather than complian about what you don't have.
Other sides will use less players than us this season and achieve more just as liecester did 2 years ago and Chelsea did in 2 of the last 3 seasons, go figure :-)

{Ed001's Note - I could just go a cheese butty.....}

25 Sep 2017 08:59:41
Me too Ed I've never been that big on veg myself :-)
Mind you we are Liverpool and Arsenal fans so we've become used to the taste sarnies over the years mate :-)

{Ed001's Note - I just meant that I don't get to eat stuff like that much, the missus always leaves me meals ready when she goes to work, as she knows I would otherwise get too engrossed in work and forget to eat. She is a great cook an all that, but sometimes it would be nice to just have a cheese sarnie, rather than a freshly home cooked meal, don't you agree?}

25 Sep 2017 09:41:10
Mate I fight a constant battle trying to stay away from cheese and opinion sarnies and sausage rolls as I like them both a LOT.
Me and the missus seem to have been watching our weight and trying to eat more healthy for what seems years and years now, I seem to lose 5lb one month then put on 7 the next :- (
Love nice food and enjoy a lot of junk food too unfortunately, but if I had to chose just two things to eat for a year, cheese and Onion sarnies and sausage rolls would be it :-)

Ed001, all my missus can do are cheese sarnies and toasties. Wanna swap?
