Same story as always. Injuries will be the excuses for title or game loss.
Is Arsene genuinely serious about winning us the title this season? I see this coming though i'm trying to be sanguine.
Must we always depend on or get cheated by referees when we could score more to avoid frustration after having a clear goal ruled out?

It's just the rub of the green we are getting. All teams get it. We do have worse luck with injuries tho

Ola gents, back from some extended hols and not a moment too soon!

Do you ever see the sideline shots of Wenger during a match - I would say he is a very serious chap ;-))

The following is my list of the order that I think Wenger would put the names not he team sheet based on importance to the squad, wenger's confidence level and suitable replacement - feel free to dispute….

1. Sanchez
2. Cech (only because he would be a little afraid to tell Sanchez he's number 2)
3. Kos
4. Ozil
5. Ramsey
6. Cazorla
7. BFG (but slipping if Gabriel is the real deal, as he appeared Monday)
8.Le Coq
9.Monreal
10 Bellerin
11. Giroud

The point is Walcott after all these years and with his pay packet is not on the list and Ox our best form player isn't either.

To be honest with you mate, with the boss, is assume the first names on the sheet are Coquelin and Ramsey.
They're his 'I told you so' trophies.
Everyone said they weren't good enough but both had 1 stellar season and that's enough for him to stick with then.
Yes, Le Coq is finding form again, so you can understand it, but Ramsey's been worse than awful out wide, so it bugs me.

After watching a few videos of cavani, I reckon he would do really well if he's the main focal point, at PSG he's paying second fiddle to Ibra so perhaps playing for us and being the main man up front he may be revitalised, thoughts? Plus Ed's do you think a late deal could go through for him? Thanks.

Wenger should go get us a striker and a holding midfielder if there's no strikers available go get us another marquee signing reus,Isco or goetze

15 mins in at Airdrie Scotland & Already Gedion Zelalem is standing out after only training with the team a day. It's clear the lad has a touch of class unbelievable confidence on the ball & surprising Strength. 0-3 it was 1-0 when I started writing this post Gedion Zelalem has just played a beautiful pass to assist Martin Waghorn for the 3rd. The lads extremely comfortable on the ball not phased in the slightest by his Rangers debut away in the cup in a small ground on AstroTurf.

Hey Ed's any chance of Lars Bender, I know Wenger wants Carvalho but still think Bender better option.... Striker or rather atacking mid Gotze.... 👊

{Ed002's Note - I don't know but the next two days will be telling where a number of clubs will have representatives together and they will, in some cases, be discussing transfers.}

On one hand I think he burnt too many bridges when he left, and also is arguably just not good enough. However on the other hand assuming the rumours that Arsene wants to sign Carvalho are true, which won't happen until at least January due to his injury, if Song was available on loan deal, it might be worth a punt?

Just a few thoughts on the Liverpool game, watching Giroud lumbering around the field he's not a good striker of the ball and is always a fraction late or over extending to stay in control of the ball. But even so it was a strange decision to substitute him for Walcott with Liverpool sitting so deep it wasn't a game for Walcott who I don't think is the answer to our striking options either. It doesn't seem that long ago we had Henry, Bergkamp, Kanu, and Wiltord to call upon in the striking department. Now its a toss up between Giroud or Walcott (and that's slightly depressing) you can mention Girouds goal scoring record but come on, up front for arsenal he should be scoring way more and the amount of chances he misses is not good enough at this level.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

26 Aug 2015 14:07:40
Giroud is not good enough even adebyor scored 25 goals

26 Aug 2015 14:02:31
If only all our forwards are hungrier like sanchez, we will see the best of Ozil. Ox always makes impact when he comes on. He should be starting games this season. I think if Welbeck adds more aggression and betters his converting rate, he will be a top striker for us.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Aug 2015 20:08:35
That's it Rue Ollys miss rate is terrible and there's some very bad misses too, on the other hand his team play is fantastic. If he became prolific and kept his team contribution he'd have a brilliant season for us, then Real would take him off our hands :-(

26 Aug 2015 21:27:59
I'm with you Rue, misses far to many

When we had the "invincibles", I was so confident no matter the opposition. Though i try to remain sage with this squad, I can't find the same confidence I had with the invincibles. But once a gunner, always a gunner!

Believable1 Unbelievable0

26 Aug 2015 13:03:19
The invincibles were always a threat.
They scared other teams.
A perfect balance of power, skill, speed.

Henry, Bergkamp, Pires, Vieira all over 6'0, all strong, all dangerous and none of them were slouches.

Our current team may be fantastic, but they have no power.

Our midfield diamond of Cazorla and Coquelin behind Özil, Santi'a 5'6, Coquelin's not much bigger and Özil is 5'11 only one consistently scores in Cazorla and saying that is pushing it considering he's dropped off the goals since dropping deeper.

That same diamond in the invincibles, Vieira and Petit behind Bergkamp.
All over 6'0, 2 real goal threats, 2 fantastic creators and a real leader to boot.

The premier league is a physical league.
We really do lack some bite in our team.

Chelsea have Matic
City have Yaya

We need someone like that.
Someone who's not going to be bullied off the ball.
Krychiowak (apologies for the spelling, it took me months to get Szczesny right..which I'm now worried I got wrong) fits the bill for me, he's big, tough, good tackler and decent in possession.
But the club seem to prefer Carvalho.

Same up top, Henry may not of been great in the air, but he was tall, fast, strong and a great finisher.
We lack that right now ( whenever I read those attributes, I can't believe Welbeck isn't scoring 20 a season.)

There's not going to be another team like our invincibles, but a bit of tweaking and these lads could achieve so much,

Good post that D. I wish Arsene would go back and watch some videos from back then. Perhaps he would realise that players like Pires didn't always cut in narrow and actually went wide and crossed on occasions as well. We had such a good blend of steel and skill. Would love someone to compare how many goals we scored on the break, normally from the opposing teams corner, compared to the last few seasons where I struggle to remember one. Funny though as the other thing to remember from that side is that our main right back was Lauren. Not saying he was a bad player, but he certainly won't make an arsenal top 10 fullback list, let alone the premierships. Makes me wonder why some fans are obsessed with Monreal/Gibbs, and think we must replace them. If Lauren was good enough to be in the invincibles, they are certainly good enough to be part of our current team....

26 Aug 2015 10:04:42
I don't think Wenger will be signing any one until after the weekend if he does its not looking likely ATM but I do like deadline day as he normally gets at least one player

Believable0 Unbelievable1

26 Aug 2015 09:47:43
Is Arsene being to fussy about who he buys?
Just seems strang to me the two sides who finished above us can find players to improve them but we can't? You would think Chelsea being champions had less room for improvement.
I'm not saying replace Arsene just asking the question.

There is one absolute must, a striker, another why on earth wouldn't we position, defensive mid and another where Chambers has shown he's not quite ready yet.

I would take a quality striker as a single signing but preferably want the DM too.

As for Chelsea I've never been a huge fan of Willian or Cuadrado so Pedro made sense and Terry can only last so long so obvious upgrades or additions for me.

City had what were considered weak links in Nasri, Navas and Mangala who hasn't settled, so again obvious upgrades.

Wenger has a few days to do the same, by what we have been told his two main targets, Benzema and Carvalho have not been or do not appear obtainable right now.

He cannot allow this to deter him from improving the main area, as it striker at least. That said I'm with the squad whatever happens.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Aug 2015 08:52:01
What i think we need most is a DM. With this same squad, we hit 100 goals last season. Don't how long it will take for them to find their goal scoring form

So it looks like we're going to sign the Russian version of lord bendtner-(minus the god complex!) a player who isn't prolific, doesn't offer anything different from what we already have, isn't a game changer and another player who goes missing when it matters. I love AW for the fact that he's got our team to a point where only top class players will improve our squad, but sometimes his choices of transfer targets frustrate me. Why not just go all out for lewondowski, benzema, cavani, even Charlie Austin will do!! I just hope that he has something up his sleeve to bring in a player that will take responsibility when the team is struggling. We have the talent in abundance, we have one of the best squads around but we need someone who isn't afraid to stand up and be counted when it matters, even if they don't succeed at least you can see them trying to fight and scrap for the cause. Defense is good, midfield is ok (could do with another dm, but not a priority) it's an out and out, defense scaring, 25+ goals a season striker that we NEED!! If we get that striker, coq can make dm position his own and if he gets injured, we just have to score more than the other team, which we can do if we get that striker!!!

We're hardly going to sign him. Just the latest in a long line of transfer BS

I hope we don't, I'd rather save the transfer fee and bring akpom back from loan. I'd bet my house they'd score the same amount. Plus akpom is already 'semi-adjusted' to premier league. Saves time and money.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Aug 2015 09:51:09
To be quite honest I've never heard of him. Which perhaps says something as I do know of a lot of players. However looking at his 163 apperences and 37 goals that doesn't sound impressive to me. However hopefully just paper talk

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Aug 2015 10:24:43
Exactly what I mean D16, his record is just as bad as bendtner' was up until he left us. I don't see him as an improvement, therefore I don't see the need to buy him.
