Hey edd any transfer updates any chance of tello and berbatov it would be stupid not to sign any1

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - It would be unfair on the clubs who have yet to play Arsenal twice to buy these players.}

27 Jan 2014 06:15:49
Classic Ed002! Are u a Wenger clone?

Agree0 Disagree0

Lol. I rather we just stick wit our current team instead of buyin players tht'll b difficult to offload later on.

This week gents it will be Draxler obviously but also one of Cerci, Giovinco or Destro to arrive at the Emirates

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Not likely, Draxler is the cover up top if he comes in and Sanogo is back so can't see us getting any of them tbf.

Not arsenal related but PSG have had a bid rejected for Cabaye, I think we will see what he can really do if he joins a proper world class team.

Could really regret not going for him a lot more relentlessly. (We got Özil so oh well :D)

Hi Eds, do you think it's possible if we have any chance of getting Lukaku as I don't see him ever playing for Chealsea. Had already sent something along the lines of this but my connection dropped so unsure if sent so maybe 2 much of the same.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I wouldn't think so.}

The Southampton fixture on Tuesday is far more important that the cup game against Liverpool, if we can win our next 2 games we could well come out of them more than 1 point clear

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Every game is huge from now until the end of season, and we have to be thinking about winning them all.

Agree0 Disagree0

Impossible DG look at the run of fixtures
Southampton a
C Palace h
Liverpool a
Man U h
Liverpool h
B Munich h
Sunderland h
Stoke a
Swansea h or FA Cup
B Munich a
Tottenham a
Chelsea a
M City h

Wenger will have to rest some people or we could blow the lot, luckily we have 4 home games on the bounce, which does ease things a bit

Agree0 Disagree0

If we get 24 points from that run of games we will be in a great position for the title the FA cup and champions league are important but would rather focus on the league IMO 24 points is a realistic target

Agree0 Disagree0

Like I said Banbury, let's win them all, lol

Ed, do you think Chicharito will leave in January?

I think the signing of Draxler is crucial, and not just him. I think it's time arsenal bought in a few slightly established quality youngsters, because we have a very balanced squad right now. But quite a few players are at their prime and ageing and in couple of years will need replacing. Hence why I think if we sign a few quality youngsters over the next 2/3 windows will ease any pressure on them with the ageing players still capable of performing at a high level, and gives them time to adapt and develop into the league and team.
I think the main aim should be to build a spine for the future I.e.: 2 CBs, RB, CDM, LW, 2 ST(maybe 1 to be more experienced)
Other positions I think we are well covered quality and age wise.
If we don't do this I think we could end up like Man United this season and lpool last couple of seasons.
What do you all think?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Top post but just my opinion on the team. Personally I believe cdm and rb needs addressing for long term cover. With wiltshire, ramsey, ox, theo, gnabry, zalalem (sp?) I believe arsene is trying to cultivate a versatile midfield much like the great barca side of 08 had. Where most midfielders could play anywhere because of the system they played.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree Waq1,

Draxler will do for starters lol

What a month Feb has in store for us gooners, I think Feb will decide a lot where we end up this season.

8th feb Liverpool vs Arsenal
12th Feb Arsenal vs Manchester united
15th feb Arsenal vs Liverpool (Fa Cup)
19th feb Arsenal vs Bayern Munich

Funny thing no goosebumps we going to win em all.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I have a sneaky feeling we might win them all too, here's hoping.

Ok, not sure what to think of the 5th round draw. Home v Liverpool is winnable under normal circumstances but we have Man United at home a few days before the 5th round game and then Bayern at home a few days after.

Things in my thinking-

1- no chance to rest anyone and a really difficult week

2- at least we're competing so we should expect weeks like this

3 - season ticket covers all home PL games and 7 cup ties. This means Bayern is now the 8th cup game so I'll have to fork out more than £100 to go to that game despite being a season ticket holder. That feels like a rip off!

5 - they will generate £3m from this 8th cup game. That's more than the 3% season ticket price rise will generate so the club has room for some movement on all of this

Mind you. I still wanna win all 3 games and I'd love a 9th and 10th and 11th cup game. As that would take us to ECL semi and FA cup 6th round leaving only game(s) at Wembley in FA and final in CL. I can dream lol even though I'd have to be in the ballot for tickets for the finals lol

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We have a great record at Anfield and a draw is a bare minimum. We playing we did against Suarez and Sturridge who, at the time, were on top form and I fancy us to take 3pts away.

As for Manchester United and RVP we owe them a 3-0 battering off the park for that 1-0 loss curtesy of RVP. Let's not forget half our team was struggling with food poisoning and Mertesacker wasn't even in the squad.

In the FA cup I would play a strong side and beat Liverpool as it'll give us massive confidence against Bayern. We're at home for three games in a row so no travel and home comforts.

Bayern in the Champions League will be a monster and I fancy us to beat them at home and draw away.

Ever the optimist!

26 Jan 2014 17:52:12
Wow. Can't say I'm made up about us playing Liverpool in the FA cup, but 1) I think we are favourites to win and 2) Man City vs Chelsea is a great tie for us. I am actually very excited about it.

Of course it gives us a horrific run in February: away to Liverpool, home to United, home to Liverpool (FA cup), home to Bayern, all in 11 days! Who knows how it will turn out - call me mad but I think we could well win all of those games if we don't have any injury disasters.

Most important now though is the next game. Away at Southampton is difficult and might be one of the most telling games of the season. Where we might have been pleased with a draw in the past, it's a MUST-WIN tie this season. If we comfortably win the next 2 games, I think we can go on to get a lot of our tricky patch in February.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

There is a chance the Utd game will be postponed because of a tube strike so that could reduce the pain. but the likelihood is that game would probably be moved into the next run of fixtures that look unfavourable.

I made a similar post to what I'm going to say now ages ago I think Dagenham may remember as he replied to it. Here goes. We have drawn Liverpool and Man City have drawn Chelsea. It stinks! I think that in future the draw should NOT be done manually but by machine similar to the lottery. HOT & COLD balls or coincidence . Would anyone have put their money on this type of draw happening time and time again.? Definitely not me.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Relax Goldboy, the draw is fine!

We'l beat the scousers and Man City or Chelsea are out! It's a great draw!

I say bring on the big games! We've spent far too long out of cup competitions and losing to stoke away and hull at home etc.

We are The Arsenal and we should fear no one!

Agree0 Disagree0

Weve got 2 months of big big games actually glad we drew Liverpool it means we have to focus and don't take it lightly and lose focus by 6 April we will know if we can do it

Agree0 Disagree0

You have all missed the point of my post boys. My point is that I think the draws are very suspicious. Why out of all the teams we could have drawn is it that the top 4 clubs play each other, it happens time and time again. I don't believe it's coincidence anymore. I'm not bothered we have Liverpool but I do question the way the draws are being done.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi Golds,
Yes mate I remember. I think it was the 3rd round draw. I think the draw has been good this time Golds, if we beat Liverpool at least we know Man City or Chelsea will be going out.

Wowser,

Liverpool, United, Liverpool, Bayern Munich and that's just February.

We are in for a massive two months, seems like forever that we had good reason to look forward to those fixtures.

Geez I'm actually really excited and slightly cacking it at the same time. Lol.

We can do this.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

According to "Senior Gunners officials will fly to Germany at the start of this week as they attempt to complete a deal for the Schalke sensation and move for Frankfurt's right-back"

Draxler and Jung, valued at 25-30m and 7m respectively.

Not sure if it's reliable (don't think are.) but fingers crossed over Draxler!

Not seen much of Jung, does anyone know of him? Strengths and weaknesses?

All joking aside I feel a bit sorry for Jaun Mata, he was Chelski's best player for the last two seasons but has been forced to join utd to try and save his world cup place.

Utds problems having been building up for years and without spending 150 million on top of his transfer fee they can't afford I don't see them getting back to their best for 3 or 4 years at the very least. The club and the fans have that time but mata? He should be reaping the benefits of his performance's challenging for honours not trieing to steer utds ship from the rocks.
Yeah I know he should have joined us not Chelski but I don't think that was all down to him at the time.
He must be gutted and thinking how to did this happen after playing so well

Believable0 Unbelievable0

26 Jan 2014 18:40:34
It's a difficult one, he is saying all the right things about joining United, which is natural.

They are a huge club but I look at like this, that whilst Arsene has quietly been maturing a lovely bottle of red Fergie was letting his Champagne go flat.

They do need more players and I'm sure at least one more will be signed this window.

Mata has added to RVP and Januzaj, I'm still to be convinced by Rooney and Kagawa has done nothing to prove that a Japanese player can make it in the EPL.

Moyes has a massive job on his hands and it's not just buying great players, he has to do something he's failed at so far and that's become a winner.

The odd thing is that how low key the whole him signing for United has been. The United guys I know are still far from happy.

Good luck to him he is a great little player but watching Chelsea against Stoke they are not really going to miss him.

Back I August I said this season we had to finish top two or a very close 3rd to show real improvement, so far so very very good.

We end January with a tough trip to saints where normally acpiont wouldn't be bad at all but its so tight at the top we have to get all 3 pts.

February and things begin to heat up with games away to Liverpool and utd and Bayern at home.

March will go a long way to deciding our fate for this season with away games at Bayern Spurs Chelski and the little matter of city at home.

Its fantastic being back in the mix for big prizes again and if we are still there come the start of April? Then we really have every right to believe all is possible for us THIS SEASON

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Exciting times ahead g62! Regardless of what happens, we have improved, we are financially very strong and we will only get stronger, bigger and better!

COYG!

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree Greeny mate, this season has been brilliant no longer hoping for a late run to get 4 th place but right up there with the best competing again.
I am enjoying this season more than I can remember any for years and if it doesn't end with silverware so be it, the foundations we are laying down at the club on and off the field will bare fruits for years to come

Agree0 Disagree0

Definitely! I am enjoying every game and going into each game with confidence rather than dread. The team has a touch of 2002/2003 to it. Not quite the Invincibles yet, but I feel we're verging on something special.

Agree0 Disagree0

I reckon losing to Villa on the first day did us more good than harm tbh, proper wake up call, i'm loving what I'm hearing from the board now with the Puma deal wenger hopefully resigning, Marquee signing every summer, that's why Man u were so good apart from the class of who knows when they signed a class player every year, some dross too btw, god knows whether we would have got the Puma deal with Luke Chadwick modelling it lol

If Theo hadn't got injured I think we would all be optimistic for the remainder of the season. The past few games (not inc Cov) have seen us missing his ability to get behind defenders and break with fantastic speed. We just need a replacement for Theo and the sky's the limit. I see us struggling to break down the top teams without him. If you look around there aren't many of these type of players around. But what about a cheeky bid for Agbonlahor? he would fit it perfectly and I am sure AW has looked at him before. Not sure TR7 would appreciate this post at the moment though! Thoughts anyone?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Not keen on Abgonlher fast but to streaky for my liking . Plus we've got gnabry the boy/man with the knock out shoot hoping he takes aim at John Terry soon

Agree0 Disagree0

No mate he plays well for about 5 games a season.

Agree0 Disagree0

We have Gnabry and the Ox to cover/replace Theo's injury so we don't need Agbonlahor. Plus he is nowhere near Arsenal standard.

Think how much Gnabry will improve knowing he's getting lots of game time and experience in various competitions.

Theo should feel he has to EARN his spot back in the team. That is what squad depth and competition is all about. Pushing each other on to bigger and better things!

26 Jan 2014 09:06:57
ed, what do u think that wenger will announce in tomorrow press conference?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I suspect it will be about the Puma deal.}

Correct me if I'm wrong but surely this is just another pre game press conference ahead of a game. Just like his usual Friday press conference before a weekend game?

No conspiracy theory to be spoken about?

Ed what is the situation with francis coquelin. I rate this guy highly and thought he played really well at rb and cdm when he had the chance. i'm just wondering if this loan is to gain more experience of regular first team football or does wenger not have plans for him. Seems slly to be to sell ona potential talent. Also do you think frimpong will leave because I don't feel frimpong has had a fair chance and I feel he could do well for us.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed027's Note - Frimpong will either leave now or in the summer, he's surplus to requirements. Coquelin stalled last season, he never improved after his breakthrough, his loan hasn't been a success, mainly because he's played on the wing most of the time, and Freiburg aren't happy with him, he could be loaned out to a prem side next season, or most likely a French team

Both players haven't really progressed as first hoped/thought they would. I reckon both will be sold/released in the summer.

You're Wrong Greeny :P

Haven't posted for a few days so I thought it was about time I did lol brilliant game last night, I was there cheering on our team as they controlled the game so brilliantly. Dong know what to think of the whole draxler rumours, some sound reliable where as some sound more fake than silicone boobs, I think we just need to be open minded about it all, I think we do need more first team players but I could specify where so I guess it would just be a 'special player' e.g draxler. The saints on Tuesday won't be as easy but I'm pretty confident that we will get the 3 points. I think we were due a 4-0 thrashing, a game that we could just control and pick the team off as and when we felt like it so I'm really happy with the result :)
Loving being a gooner! COYG!
