Hello Ed’s,
I have been regular visitor of this portal for at least 6 transfer windows now and this is the best platform I could find. Thanks a lot to all of you.
Sorry for just reading posts and not much commenting but frankly everything is asked and answered already. couple of suggestions though, only if UI / UX could be improved and if possible daily summary or Ed’s comments only section could be added.
I Hope Auba, Evans signings happens this week along with contract extension for wilshere and ozil.
Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Thanks Desi and welcome. We have tried various things to get the balance. Right and nothing has achieved the 100% niftiness factor we require. The running of the site is down to Ed001 and Ed033 - I never look at the site myself. We will ride out the coming months and maybe have a refinement or two. But all input from you is welcome. You might hit 2 or 3 of your wish list. Maybe one or two.}

Hi Ed will the Dortmund bomb case be holding up a deal for Auba as he has to give evidence?

Thanks in advance for any answer.

Criminal case when he’s a witness shouldn’t cause any hold up
He’d have to appear as a witness but since he’s agreed to be a witness and while still be free to travel to Germany can’t see any reason it would have any affect on the transfer.

Interest snippet from the book "the deal" talking about Arsenal signing Arshavin

Sounds like we were super tight and it was the board NOT Wenger

"Interestingly, it was the Arsenal board who wouldn't budge in negotiations. Despite all the rumours about Wenger's stinginess, he was pushing them to spend more for Arshavin, because he really wanted the player. ".

Well once Wenger got him he went on to ruin him with misuse, played him a couple of times in his correct position where he tore teams apart and for the rest played him out of position.
I wouldn't mention it but Arsharvin is hardly the only player he's done it to.

Something certainly went wrong with arshavin, came a world beater, left a bench beater.

The Aubameyang transfer saga will unravel in the next day or two, will be very interesting if he fails to make BVB team for this weekends coming fixture. He will sign even though our negotiators are doing there best to mess it up.

i don't see augb coming to arsenal at all should been agreed by now typical arsenal trying to penny pinch we will miss out on him.

If they want to sell him I would be extremely surprised if he plays, as an injury could scupper the deal.

I think we should contact chelski, if auba signs, with the idea of a player loan swap. We let them have giroud til summer and we take luiz. Ed 02 is that possible between two clubs. Thanks.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I have never said anything about DL moving to Arseanal Steve.}

26 Jan 2018 12:45:06
No i know ed, i was speculating over a possible swap that could suit both clubs requirements, if it was at all possible.

Agree13 Disagree2

26 Jan 2018 17:42:09
Thats not a bad shout Steve would probably suit both clubs although i would also prefer it to be a loan swap till end of season.

Agree2 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - It won’t suit Chelsea nor DL.}

26 Jan 2018 19:01:42
Does David Luiz still harbour hopes of playing for a big club ed 😂.

26 Jan 2018 17:53:40
Ed, We desperately need defensive cover and both players would get some decent playing time. With what's going on in the transfer market at the moment anything is possible.

Agree4 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - To cover for who? Arsenal have added one defender who should get along - after that there appears to be no real shortage although they have looked at a couple more CBs.}

26 Jan 2018 20:37:55
Ed, koscielny seems to be picking up more injuries, chambers simply not good enough, holding struggling, debuchy surely going, mertesacker past it, ok mustafi/ kolasinac/ monreal and bella are tidy players on there day and yes the new lad looks good but I agree with you they need to be looking at 1 maybe 2 CBs in this window were short on quality. Just my thoughts.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - They won’t be replacing the whole defence next week.}

26 Jan 2018 21:00:11
Lol will be happy with just the one eds if it improves the team and provides good cover. Cheers for your replies.

Ed02. Are wages at Arsenal a problem. Miki getting big wages oezil wanting a fair lump and if aubameyang comes in will also get a fair whack. In your opinion ed do you think arsenal can afford this? And is this a factor in the labouring negotiations . Thanks in advance.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Until the figures are available I don't know if Arsenal will meet the FFP requirements or not. It would be best not to worry about the money by speculating.}

26 Jan 2018 12:01:28
Sano, i may be wrong but we have already agreed wages with auba, its dortmund we haven't come to an agreement with.

I guess your right ed. I think I’ve caught idiot fever that appears twice a year.

At least Alexis Sanchez has something in common with the working man, as the raver has missed many of drugs tests himself 😉.

Wrong page raver. 😂.

{Ed002's Note - Actually Arsenal has accepted responsibility.}

Bloody arsenal screwing thing up ed 😂 it appears they couldn’t run a bicycle race up in a brewery.

After Nachos goal of the season, how he forced that header off of two opposition heads, into the goal really took some working out and skill. I guess we are going to have to call him ‘pinball wizard’. New song needs to be sung for him😂.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Let's hope he is still at Arsenal by the end of next week.}

26 Jan 2018 09:48:30
Interesting you say that ed. Can you see him leaving then.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I don't know but there will be an approach for him today or in perhaps a day or two.}

26 Jan 2018 10:17:38
Interesting that. Thank you ed. I like him but feel perhaps he is someone we could move on only if we replace.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - As I explained Arsenal has looked at some left backs including Ryan Sessegnon and Christopher Rocchia but I very much doubt anything will happen this week.}

26 Jan 2018 10:22:55
That's interesting Ed002, as I wondered why reports emerged that we wanted Luke Shaw as part of the Sanchez deal.
Perhaps we are signing Evans, so Monreal wouldn't be needed as a CB and despite an excellent performance against Chelsea, I think we could do better at LB than him. Wenger's use or rather lack of use of Kolasinac is a bit worrying.

Agree1 Disagree2

{Ed002's Note - I understand that Wenger expected Kolasinac to adapt to what was being asked of him and he is struggling a bit. I am sure it will be fine.}

26 Jan 2018 10:27:19
Is this something we are open to? I can't see AW wanting to let him go. I assume it will be Bilbao if Laporte leaves?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I doubt it this week. and yes, Bilbao. It has been on the cards.}

26 Jan 2018 11:16:10
Yeah i did see you mention that left back position the other week. Thank you ed appreciate the info!

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

Any information regarding Arsenals interest in Pontus Dahlberg?

He is now rumoured to Watford; but has earlier been rumoured to Arsenal for the same amount as we bought another Swede many years ago (Ljungberg) . He would be a perfect young GK to learn from Cech and end up as a goalkeeper legend both for Sweden and Arsenal.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note -He is a Gothenberg player Watford are keen on.}

Hi Ed's,

I was just curious as to how a transfer negotiation takes place. It is well reported that Gazidis, Sven and Fahmy are in Dortmund to negotiate for Auba. I just wanted a bit more insight into how that process actually takes place.

Obviously they have been over there for a few days now, so is it a case of a number of face to face meetings? Phone calls? A fax?! I am just intrigued because in any line of work where I have been involved in a negotiation, at most it has taken 2 meetings to finalise something. I appreciate I am not dealing with a £60m transfer, but I am staggered that it takes us so long to agree to something, whilst constantly pissing people off who we negotiate with.!

Any info you can give on this would be welcome!

Have a good Friday y'all.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I am surprised if they have been there a few days doing this one thing. When Dortmund were in London last week they met on club Friday morning, Arsenal on Friday afternoon before one of the three had to leave for an evening meeting in Spain and then he flew to Berlin.

Regardless. The overall transfer process should be along the lines of: Clubs will typically informally ask an agent (a) if the player is going to be available, and (b) would the player consider a move to the club. There may be some broad discussion on the sort of deal that would be offered but no more than that. If the answer is yes, it is then necessary for the club to approach the player's club to ask if they would be willing to sell and if they would grant permission to speak to a player's agent formally about a transfer and possibly even the player about actually making a move. This will typically involve either broadly (through an offer) or actually agreeing a fee and responsibility for any significant costs (agents fees etc.). Once this has happened the club will be able to speak to the player's agent and perhaps the player himself to look at the package that will be involved. Many players are looked at and discussed at a high-level with agents and clubs; a subset of those have an offer placed; a subset of those involve discussions with the player's club; a subset of those involve discussions over terms, and; a subset of those go ahead.

Agents will often try and get more specific details of wages and other financials before they should - but most clubs are happy to follow this process. Players will often talk to other players about moves but, whilst wrong, is tolerated as it would be impossible to manage.

Alternatively, a selling club may ask an agent to find a new club for a player and he will talk directly to poetntial selling sides about the fee, personal terms and interest.

In terms of what happens when the negotiations take place, broad agreement (player available and open to discussions, understanding of the price) will already have been reached. The clubs will meet to discuss the details of the transfer fee, other costs associated with the move and the structure of the payments and any additional fees (e.g Another €5M for winning the Champions League etc.) but this does not take a "few days". There is a nice football museum there, perhaps they are looking at that?}

26 Jan 2018 09:23:20
Thanks very much, interesting read.

I really hope they are enjoying the hell out of the museum and have a serious tiddly winks competition on the go.

Out of interest, are they any other players in Germany that we would be considering to take?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - There are a couple of younger centre backs who play in Germany (and I have mentioned before) who Arsenal have an interest in but they have not been doing anything in that respect.}

26 Jan 2018 09:24:14
Great reply Ed.
Thank you.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

26 Jan 2018 12:48:11
Is one of these centre backs Jonathan Tah by any chance Ed? Would be a great addition and heard he has a release clause of around €25m.

{Ed002's Note - No.}
