Sounds to me that higuain sees us as last choice, and that they are trying to attract other clubs. I really don't see this deal happening. Bad times. Eds - have u got any update on the deal and how confident/un confident are u this will happen

Leading Broadsheet reporting that Madrid are offering Higuain + £££ for Bale.

FML {Ed027's Note - I think Higuain wants to play at the highest level

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I really hope he does. If we don't sign him I'm going to be more upset than I was coming back from Wembley after the Birmingham game!

Some ridiculous statements on the Everton page. Some of them are saying that we are no better than them.

If I'm not mistaken, we finished above them, and we are in the Champions League. We also scored more goals and conceded less. Is there something I'm missing?

Are they just bitter that we might sign the best hair in the Prem?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Well, it's their page, so they can say what they want. Do get why fans visit each others pages just to be outraged by other fans. What were you expecting? Lots of everton fans go on about how Arsenal is an amazing club and that they are no where near as good as us? When utd bought RvP or Barca were in for fab people in here weren't very positiv about them either.

Everton fans support Everton, it's not that big a deal.

Agree0 Disagree0

Took about 2 hrs to stop laughing and wipe tears from my eyes before I could reply. Everton as good as arsenal probably the funniest thing heard this year

Agree0 Disagree0

Not being funny but we drew with them twice this season and were about on par all year so it's not like what they are saying on their page is even that crazy. They've got one or two better players than us, play better as a team than us, play with more passion and effort per game for the whole season unlike us, and have a player or two who we would all love in our squad. It's not the craziest thing for them to say, especially on their own page.

I really don't see why everyone thinks Cavani is so good and eveyone makes such a fuss abt him. Everytime I watch this chap play he looks awful. So in this game against brazil he has spilled the ball 4 times and received a yellow only 23 mins gone. Def not worth 50odd mil in my opinion. Quite happy we looking at Higuain and not him.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I've only watched him once and it was when her tore apart man city

Bergkamp5353

Okay he looked a bit better in the second half but still not that impressed.

Higuain is my fave striker on the planet

Have followed him since River Plate

I'm still speechless. Held off posting about him till was almost certain he was joining.

After 8 years of getting punched in the gut over the summer, my fave club is signing my fave striker, excuse me if I still don't believe it

I just watched all of Eduardo's goals for Arsenal on YouTube and I have to say I feel really angry that his career was pretty much ended after that horrific leg break. His finishing was absolutely superb. I remember when we played Birmingham that day and we were top of the league heading into March. If this hadn't happened who knows what might have been? This terrible injury, combined with the disgraceful leadership skills of W Gallas, proved too much for us in the end. Hopefully, we will sign Higuain and I hope he proves to us what a clinical finisher he is. Eduardo, you were one of the best!
MJ Gooner

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Possibly the most natural finisher I've seen since Robbie Fowler in his prime. Absolute quality player. I think he would have gone on to become a true Arsenal legend.
Smudge

Agree0 Disagree0

Couldn't agree more mj I posted about him a few weeks ago and was told he weren't that good although it was only one poster who said it. such a shame he got injured and left pure finisher. The standing ovation he got from us when he scored against us said it all about him and said it all about us as fans.

Agree0 Disagree0

He was a bit like romario not an amazing goalscorer aside from against burnley but a man who scored tap in's and one on one because of a great mixture of pace and positioning

I have a horrific feeling that Higuain will be going to Napoli in a player + cash deal for Cavani.

I think this because I was reading a quote from his brother about how a move to arsenal has edged closer. He then goes on to say that Napoli are a great club who have lots of Argentinian players

WTF? Why is he mentioning them? Nobody else has! The suspense is killing me!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

26 Jun 2013 19:18:31
Anyone else see the quote in Higuains Agents interview today:

"Napoli are a strong side and that place represents a lot for Argentines. "

"Saying that, I can't deny that Gonzalo is now close to Arsenal. "

Is he making an attempt to force a bid from Napoli i. e. a potential swap with Cavani.

Not trying to be negative lads, just seeing what others make of this, hopefully I am blowing it out of proportion or its misinterpreted, if so apologies.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I totally agree mate. It would be hard to take if we missed out on him now, as I don't think we will find as good a finished product available on the market

With preseason looming, the window about to officially open I think the next 10 days will see at least 2 signings and 3 departures. Departures being Bendtner, Djourou and Park. Love to see Santos leave as we'll but unless we pay off contract he isn't leaving. Signings I want to see are Higuain and Bender.

Well of course Ancelotti wasn't going to say 'hey Higuain is rubbish, you know what we need to get rid of him and sign Cavani'. Hmm now that would be £5m off the income line and £5m on the expenditure line. It's meaningless what people come out and say.

Coaches will say what they need to say to disguise their real intentions other than when they simply do it to try to force a deal through, and you'll never know which is which. Do I believe Arsene would really sign Rooney? Nope, although you end up half believing it. The truth is he says it to mislead you from the real intentions and to disrupt the opposition.

Then you get the agents making up rumours to try to force better deals, and journalists desperate to fill space when there is little real football to fill the pages. Then to add it all you get people like us trying to make sense of what is real and not real, and of course those that make even more nonsense with their spurious in the know knowledge gained from an estate agent, a friend at the club, the brothers in law of the reserve goalkeeper in the women's team, or from a spotting ( I personally always love the agents spotting as they are so clearly recognisable, but I would give a big mark for the recent mall spotting near the Emirates).

At the end of the day we don't know until we know, ha that's really clever on my part! But I think you can discount 99%, anything that comes from agents, anything that puts a date on something happening, or mentions medical teams flying out, or well almost anything really!

What do you look for? Form, what do the clubs, coaches and players have a history of, if it fits with their form it's likely to have a logic. Logic, other than City and Paris St Germain clubs do not have bottomless pits so they will not over buy in one area, even if like Arsene they may have a pull towards certain types of players. So United want a midfield creator, it's obvious they have a gap, is that Fellaini? Nope so they might like him but he will not be transfer target number one.

So where does logic and form get us? It strongly suggests Higuain is coming. With the signing of Llroente and Tevez there would be no logic in Juve going down that route, and they aren't as cash rich as Arsenal. Bayern and United will fight for Lewandowski, Cavani will be fought over by City, Chelski and possibly Real (but I get the feeling City or Chelski), Falcao is the other big name obvious target, and the fall back for the three rich clubs I'd guess our original target of Jovetic.

So where else does Higuain go? He either stays, a chance but he'll continue to be second string, or he moves to Arsenal. I think he'll come. Oh and David Villa will either stay and drop further down the pecking order for one
last season or I would guess stay in Spain.

Cesc wil not be coming back to Arsenal any time soon. I'd love him back but a. He has worked too long and too hard to get to Barcelona b. Iniesta and Xavi are getting older and can't be expected to just keep going all season and sadly c. If he came up for sale this summer United's hunger for him and need for him would beat ours.

Fellaini? Well he doesn't fit with City. United? They tend to spend big on one or possibly two players. The creative midfielder looks the priority, and after that they appear to want a marquee striker signing, I'm not sure it's their obvious need but as a commercial trading company it fits with a business model. Chelski have other more obvious targets. I can't see why Bayern need him, he doesn't fit with Madrid or Barcelona, so logic says Everton or us. If the price is right my guess is us, Everton need money to buy, and he fits with a box to box need we have, and Arsene loves a player who can play in different positions.

Beyond that - Rooney will stay for another year, or failing that will be off to the only two clubs who can afford his salary and will want him - Chelski or Paris. Any of a hundred Germans that have suddenly become this years trendy will probably not come just like Gotze and Reus - no chance if Bayern want them, and no logic of why they would leave or pass up Dortmund to come to us. I'm not saying no Germans will come, but forget the young new wave superstars.

If Higuain and Fellaini don't come it will get very interesting, as the fall backs are far from obvious, and the top tier are all on the prowl. Rumours that once circulated about Isco and Navas had all the credibility of Hazard and Gotze before them. The next list looks full of risks - Benteke being the obvious alternate striker.

What I do hope is that if Higuain and Fellaini do come we still do not forget the need for a CD and CDM, we remain weak at the highest level in both positions.

I'm fairly confident that we will get Higuain because sky are saying that we are in Madrid and they are very reliable compared to other sources and he wants to leave, we have the money to lure him and now Juventus are busy with Tevez we should be able to have Higuain by the start of next week if the banks are open haha

Can someone please explain why we are reported to have made an offer for left back Benjamin Mendy, when we already have Gibbs, Monreal & Santos. Assuming we get rid of Santos, either on loan or permanently, it still leaves us 2 decent left-backs.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

You need 3 in each position

I believe it is because we let go of Meade and therefore need somepne for the reserves team. I cannot see Santos staying at AFC.

Is it just me or does anyone else think, Ancellotis press conference at 1pm is going to kick start the Market. Cavani, Suarez, Higuain, Ronaldo etc, so many decisions to be made that affect so many clubs.

Of course all I really care about is Madrid nipping Paulinho, Ronnie staying and Higuain leaving ;) not a lot to ask for eh?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Its too early in the transfer window for major moves.

If we pay over the odds the player is ours.

30 mill for fernandinho? seriously?

Jesus navas looks like a steal, but his value will be determined by how he fares in the big bad EPL. he is one skinny dude fyi.

Liverpool paid 9 mill for mignolet, Lago aspas and luis alberto, are players who could come good, but more likely 2-3 years down the line. and kolo toure.

Andre Schurrle for 18 mill to be a bench player? surely his pay packet must be good.

United sign Varela and we have sanogogo.

Napoli still hold the most coveted striker remaining. there is lewandowski, then suarez, gomez, soldado, spurs have two forwards they can't offload, there is bent, there is wilfred bony, there is higuain, negredo, the list goes on an on.

Madrid will wait for a bidding war and that's what it will come down to. and that's possibly why we won't get higuain.

im sure wenger has a backup. as he has thought about this scenario

My opinion

Rooney - Far too expensive, his attitude and current ability do not warrant 250k a week, but I would defo have Rooney ahead of Jov, Suarez and Torres.
Torres - No, absolutely not, we don't need Torres, we have enough strikers who suffer with inconsistency
Jovetic - again at 30m a completely overvalued CF, but I don't think I have seen enough to make a full judgement, but clubs ain't tripping up over themselves are they?
Higuain - His conversion rate is fantastic, his goal rate is fantastic, his wages and fee are up our alley, makes so much sense.
Suarez - No absolutely not, he has served 18 games in bans, his attitudes appalling also he doesn't want to stay in England.

These are just my honest opinions of the above referenced players.

As for Ba, no thanks.

Mine would go for Higuain and Rooney. WOW what an attack that would be.

Agree0 Disagree0

Higuain numero 1. Best striker of the lot.

Agree0 Disagree0

Honestly, considering only their talent and not off-field/on-field nonsense, it would be between Suarez and Higuain for me.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well you would have thought RVP and Rooney would have been formidable but Rooney is in the shadows and he would be the same if he played with Higuain. Anyhow Arsenal could afford nearly 2 players with the quality of Higuain for what Rooney would want. He would be a waste of space at Arsenal so I hope he goes somewhere else. I believe Rooney would be a marketing tool for us, shirt sales, souvenirs and all that goes with it. On the pitch I don't believe he will be good enough for what we hope for. If he went to Barcelona, Real Madrid he will struggle to get a regular spot in the team.

Agree0 Disagree0

Suarez is without doubt the best. However I'd rather have Higuian as Suarez has shall we say considerable baggage.

Agree0 Disagree0

Really can't see Juventus needing another forward to add to Llorente and the 3 forwards that won them the league. Higuain father doesn't have the advantage of playing us against the Italians. Although I sense that's ready worked to his advantage. Surely Juventus have moved for Tevez because they have lost put on Higuain. km

Hello Ed and fellow Gooners, just a thought, what with Balotelli and Tevez now gone and Cavani, s buyout clause massively high, I wonder if City might come at the last moment for Higiuan.
Just a thought, any comments anyone

Heybridge Gooner

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Could be that City will take an interest but think they'll be looking for a bigger name, and how much of an improvement would he be on Aguerro and Dzeko? My guess is City will sign a £30m plus striker - Falcao, Cavani, or Jovetic.

Mario Gomez is going to Fiorentina. So this could mean that Jovetic will be moving, but it wouldn't be too Juve as they've just signed Tevez. Also, it would mean that they're is a chance Fiorentina won't go for David Villa. So basically, all indications point towards Jovetic and Villa being available as well as Higuain. 3 strikers, 2 clubs (Arsenal and City), any thoughts on who will get who?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

David villa and Higuain to Arsenal. Jovetic to Man City

Higuain

Cesar

-Higuain. No doubt a world class player. Conversion rate is superb
-I would want Fellaini only if he plays CDM and wants to play it. He's got size, strength, and excellent defensive abilities to toughen up the midfield and suppress opposing counters. Personally, I think Fellaini and Wilshere would make a great partnership
-If TV stays, then we must aim for a younger centerback like Papa. Plus, he's is "no-nonsense" defender, simply a beast when it comes to tackling. We're missing that kind of bite
-Cesar is obviously an experienced keeper and will push Szcz, next year especially, considering the World Cup is looming. Being 33, Cesar wouldn't hinder Szcz's development. Also, Cesar said he loves London

I really think we should invest in a young talented cb, similar to what Man City did last year with Nastasic.

A fellow named Kurt Zouma comes to mind and would certainly be better than playing out 8-10m on Ashley williams. Honestly, is an aging squad player really worth that much because we should be hoping to target higher.

My two cents.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We're interested in that Croatian defender. He's only 17.
