NO GO. ozil is not leaving Arsenal, unless Bayern or Barcelona come with some insane offer.

i know many don't rate him, but for the games i have seen with him and without him, even if he adds nothing but composure, he adds it well in the last mins of the game, and as noted many times, we need to win a game or make a play and the times out, many don't realise the player who picks it up is Ozil.

he may not be a physical specimen or run around with boundless energy.

many don't realise how berg was similar, obviously he is a legend, but i think ozil has the potential to be like him or if not atleast half of him, and ill take those odds anyday.

To be honest - if the strikers all had better conversion rates MOs stats for assists would be monster. FRom memory I think TW has missed about 4 sitters since he came back and even AS has wasted a few- OG has had a couple of sitters and a host of half chances.

He is also fantastic at just always being there for players to unload the ball to when they are under pressure.

For me he is head and shoulders above the host of 'good' players we are used to.

Great reply Hood, even if this team went next season unbeaten plus won the champions league some people would say ah but the 2004 side had harder opposition and would have scored more goals won by more points bla bla bla that was then this is now.
Brilliant team brilliant players brilliant memories but its time to move on.

{Ed025's Note - no its not G62...still the best team i have ever seen mate, and at 56 i have seen lots..from brazil in 1970 to liverpool in the 80,s...and they still make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up..

26 Mar 2015 20:23:58
Derby - no - one will ever be berg, doubt if anyone will ever fill Thierry Henrys boots, and there was only ever one Ian wright.

Totally agree Ed watching them now takes me back to an unbelievable place that you only ever truly appreciate when its no longer there but we can't keep comparing every LB to Ashley Cole or every strinke to Henry that's just riduluose.
Embrace the wonderful memories by all means but to keep saying this that or the other player ain't so and so is unrealistic.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - fun though mate.. :)

26 Mar 2015 21:17:29
What ever turns you on I guess Eduardo mate :-) I'm 52 and to keep looking in the mirror and remembering when my hair was thicker the lines didn't exist is nice occasionally but I wouldn't want to spend every day living in the past no matter how good the memories were of telling my mum if I'm not in bed by 2.30am I'll be home, I doubt I'll ever know times as good as those again but I'm still hopeful of some very good one ahead.
Mind you i'm still hoping to win the lottery too :-(

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - good luck with that mate....im looking younger every day, and have hair like arteta and not a wrinkle in sight!...its just that my eyes are going mate.. :)

26 Mar 2015 21:29:47
Sadly Ed I have the hair of Bobby Charlton the wrinkles of the Churchill dog and worst of all 20/20 vision :-(

27 Mar 2015 08:14:51
Ed 002? Well that explains why you're such a seething old man ;) but all seriousness well done for being so Internet savvy, it can't be easy for someone of you're age

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It can indeed be difficult.}

27 Mar 2015 08:58:58
Ed002 I think your late 30s its just us that's driven you to feel much older

I think the manager doesn't rate him because, according to him, "he has no physical presence".

But, he is 6'1".

Alex Song available again in the summer, might be a good solution to DM cover that doesn't obstruct Le Coqs progress? Better than anything we have already and although not spyder of course its upgrade without overload

I would want a wenger guarentee of drumming defensive disciple with him, sure he'll do it for big sam, but will he be as defensively resolute for us?

So with roughly 11 days till we resume real football action, might be an idea to name our greatest Arsenal players per position one each day.
So tomorrow Thursday is keepers day who was our best No.1 in your opinion?
Wilson Jennings Seaman Jans?

Seaman, will never forget the save against Sheffield United.

seaman - had the sheer size that made opposition try to hit the corners of the goal - thus not only a great stopper but often caused striker to miss.

Pat Jennings.

I use to love the way he caught the ball from corners with one hand.

Jack Kelsey, great keeper, real nice fella, worked in the old shop at Highbury,

Its Jennings for me too Dags, as you say the one handed catches but most memorable for me how he used to catch really well hit shots at full stretch, shots today's keepers would be proud to push round the post or over the bar the bloke actually caught, amazing
