Is thus Grenier lad any good. Is he worth £31 million!!
Ortho gooner

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Huge potential. Not the finished article, but does have some wonderful ability on the ball.

Have seen him bang in a couple fantastic free kicks.

Agree0 Disagree0

Does anyone else think this Grenier might not be a target for Wenger?
How often does he come out and announce interest in a player? And the times he has, we have all seen Tottenham and Man City suddenly show interest.

Agree0 Disagree0

Arsenal scouts were present at the Lyon vs Rennes game. They may have been there to watch Gonalons, Lovren or Grenier who knows.

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't know why they were at the Lyon game when Wenger was there?

No idea how credible these Pogba rumours are, but safe to say I would cream myself if he signed for Arsenal. He is the next Patrick Viera and will be a true world beater.

Pair him with Ramsey/Wilshere/Ox in midfield in next 2-3 years and that'll be a midfield to challenges Barcas or Bayerns.

Detroit Gooner

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Isn't he a c*** though?

1404

Agree0 Disagree0

Next Viera, like Diaby then?

Agree0 Disagree0

27 May 2013 10:17:49
Yes 1404 you are correct but how gutted would Utd be if we purchased what was there prize c***.

Stoner

Agree0 Disagree0

Bit harsh.

SM1996

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes, he is a bit of a c***, but RVP turned out to be one too and he was great for us.

Other concern could be that he was poor for united, maybe not suited to the English league

Paul

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeh he has an attitude. same as his agent. he won't be signing for arsenal you can gurantee that.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 May 2013 12:24:01
1404

Haha what? As in personality? That's never really been a problem for Wenger. RVP was a nutter when he first joined. I've heard he apparently wants out of Juve because of racial abuse?

Detroit Gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not saying we shouldn't sign him, just not sure on his attitude and He thinks a lot of himself, looks in the mirror when having alone time if you get my drift.
I'm not sure he is a team player, could be disruptive, and that's one way to get shipped out by Wenger

Anyone know anything on Grenier lot of people saying he's near on certain to join this summer?

Apparently he a Nasri type of playing (football wise not personality) and he's only 21

Dan dan

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hes a similar age to what nasri was when we signed him. he has done well this season and is a rising star for france

Agree0 Disagree0

Would love to see:

Mignolet, A Williams, Pogba/Gundogan (most critical area to strengthen, either one will really put us up a notch), Clement Grenier, Sanogo.

I think we are losing the battle for Jovetic. Juventus have offered him the no 10 shirt and his agent has stated his desire to remain in Italy.

I for one have massive belief in Giroud. I would love one of Jovetic, Higuain, Lewandowski, but I just can't see it.

I think Vermaelen Sagna and Gervinho will leave.

*****15 August 2011*****
Cesc Fabregas has signed a five-year contract with
Barcelona in a deal worth a potential £35m to Arsenal.
The former Gunners captain, 24, said he moved back home to take up "the greatest challenge of my life. "
Barcelona have written in a buy-out clause in the midfielder's contract set at 200m euros (£175m).

For All Clubs Thinking about signing CESC

Might be worth thinking about before everyone thinks
he will come back!!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Buy out clause doesn't mean much if the club want to sell him. My understanding of the situation is that he was told he wouldn't be in the starting XI during the run in, then told the door may be open depending on who would be managing next season. That was why he was then linked with a return to us

Paul

Agree0 Disagree0

Ye, the buy out clause just means that if a club bids that then they have to accept it, they would almost certainly accept far lower than that!

Agree0 Disagree0

Theres a different buyout clause specific for arsenali think its 25mil if cesc wants to come back

Agree0 Disagree0

26 May 2013 21:45:10
We have no chance of signing Reus, Dortmund never going to sell and why would he leave Dortmund for us? Rooney is complete non starter Man U aren't us and wouldn't sell him to us plus if he was available PSG, Monaco, etc would out bid us. Cesc you would hope would never make the move to Man U.

So let's look at what I believe might happen, Sagna will go. Jenks promoted to first choice with Bellerin/yennaris his back up plus moving Kos there if desperate. Bellerin is an outstanding prospect. Vermaelen I can see coming back for pre-season seeing how his situations looks and making a decision then. We will recruit a CB I personally have a preference for Adil Rami.

Goalkeeper is very open Fab, Mannone definitely off. If we sign a strong replacement like the touted Mignonlet then I can see Chez asking to go. Martinez definitely promoted and used. Available keepers are few and far between at the level were looking at. We missed a trick last year not signing Handanovic, if he is available I say get him this year. Cesar is another mentioned though like Mignonlet he doesn't fill me with confidence. Steklenberg is open to offers and again is far more a commanding presence. We are linked with every keeper out there and I think it could go anyway and will probably come more down to cost rather than 1st choice.

DM is again another place were linked with every player who made a tackle this year. You have Konogbia, Capoue, Wanayama, plus many others. I will be honest haven't seen a great deal of any of them to make the decision or opinion on them. I would say I wouldn't be upset to see a bid for McCarthy of Wigan, we were linked in January and his proven record in PL appeals to me. I also feel he could make the step up to the highest level he just doesn't get fazed and you can see from his play he can play to a disciplined system and carry out instructions like sitting in front of the back 4.

Do we honestly need a centre forward? Am not so sure you look at Girouds stats this season and he has done very well considering we don't play to his strengths. Plus with Podolski, and Walcott who can go into the centre plus what seems the likely arrival of Sanogo. Surely an out and out world class winger is more priority. Robben could be available, Krasic is, Capel is, maybe even Ribbery. Sanchez is likely to go from Barca now Neymar is confirmed. Even Marin of Chelsea. We will still have the likes of Walcott, Ox, Pod, Ryo, Santi, Rosicky who can go out wide so.

In summary for the transfers I'd like to see are;
Handanovic,
Rami,
McCarthy,
Robben,
Plus the likely Sanagogo.

Holmesy

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Said this a few times: Mr and Mrs Rooney are chavs and have 2 young kids. I really can't see them leaving England.

He'll want CL football. Manchester United want rid of him. He will not go to city. Chelsea (currently) don't want him. That leaves us. I don't want him at Arsenal, however, I could see it happening.

Paul

Agree0 Disagree0

I want a proper f'ing winger. No more of this versatile attacking players. have enough of them!

Agree0 Disagree0

26 May 2013 20:49:33
What kind of transfer fee would Pogba come with?

I've heard he's unsettled in Turin due to racial abuse.

I'd love to have him at Arsenal.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The whisper is they want around €20m if he hands in a transfer request. I think they'll take €15m. There's big changes happening at the club so they may well let him go this summer

Paul

Agree0 Disagree0

If we could get him, it would be unbelievable

But it is sad that a kid of that talent has to think about leaving a club like Juventus, in a city like Turin that has hosted an Olympics, because of racism

From match fixing to perpetual racism to fan violence, Italians took the best league in the world and turned it to number 4 in less than a decade

Pathetic

Agree0 Disagree0

27 May 2013 12:29:02
What's happening at Juve? Marchisio, Vidal, Pogba all linked away yet they are trying to sign hundreds of forwards. Completely agree US, Italian league has gone down dramatically. Typical Italians. Wasn't there talk of postponing the Italian league for a year or something?

Detroit Gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

26 May 2013 19:54:32
Juventus have offered Jovetic the number 10 shirt.

Little Gooner {Ed027's Note - Oh what a killer

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Why is this relevent?

Agree0 Disagree0

26 May 2013 18:46:41
Mignolet will be a class signing if it happens

Gundogan should be priority of the summer. He will be the best DM in the world for a long time

Buy him now or let Pep get him to replace Schweini next season

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Totally agree. What a player.

Reminds me of Arteta. Calm on the ball, can deliver a lethal pass. but a better tackler and more pace.

And the penalty, cool as you like.

Agree0 Disagree0

"schweini" are you talking about bastian schweinsteiger the cm who is about 26 years old or somet who doesn't need to be relaced yet?

Agree0 Disagree0

26 May 2013 18:45:01
Sunderland fan here
Firstly thanks for beating Wigan and Newcastle will always love you for that:) but the main reason I'm posting is I'm just wondering if any of you have any updates on mignolet? He's an amazing goalkeeper we would have finished below QPR and reading without him, would be gutted if he left but he'd be amazing for you's
Cheers and good luck next year

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Thanks and if you could can you take bendtne, denilson, santos and others as a favour as we did one for you

cheers

Agree0 Disagree0

Smokescreen, he won't reveal any targets.

Agree0 Disagree0

Really? He revealed Sanogo and Grenier.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sanogo revealed it before Wenger did. Grenier is just talk.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 May 2013 18:44:14
After Wenger's comments, how likely out of ten do you guys think it is that Clement Grenier will be making a move to the Emirates this summer? Ed, your opinion as always is greatly appreciated.

Cheers! {Ed027's Note - Honestly don't know

Believable0 Unbelievable0

26 May 2013 17:21:37
Do people actually think there's a chance Cesc will end up at United? I think I'd cry.

Macc Gooner

Believable0 Unbelievable0

No chance. they could buy alcantara though. which might be an even bigger signing in the long run. cesc won't leave barca this summer - so just move on.

Agree0 Disagree0

He'd better not, I think if he was to anywhere in the EPL it going to be us

1404

Agree0 Disagree0

No chance, he said he will only ever play for barca or arsenal

Agree0 Disagree0

No all BS paper talk 3 different papers said Moyes was after 3 different midfielders says it all really
Dandan

Agree0 Disagree0

Personally think there's no way. If he was to leave Barca he'd want to come back to Arsenal and Wenger would certainly take him back. He's not motivated solely by money.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mate, much as we'd love to have him, it's rumour silly season right now. So far, United are supposed to be signing Fabregas, Thiago, Modric, and Strootman. And that's just midfielders.

AJH

Agree0 Disagree0

No chance.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't believe there is. If he did, however, I would lose all respect for him.

Agree0 Disagree0

He is not going to united!

To all the arsenal doubters out there, Arsenal have not finished the season without a trophy! The Arsenal Ladies have just won the FA Cup 3-0!

Now Neymar is set to join Barcelona I say we get in a bid for Sanchez quickly as he would be a quality and add so much to our wing play

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I don't really get the whole hype surrounding Sanchez. Is he a goal scorer, a creative player or does he just run around all game?

Agree0 Disagree0

Sanchez is about as good as Jarvis. Who is the most underrated winger in Europe imo.

If Jarvis had an extravagant surname he'd be considered a £20m player - he beats his man almost every. single. time. and statistically is one of the most accurate crossers.

Then there's Sanchez who has pace and agility and hype but he seems to do f all every time I try and watch him.

What are peoples opinions of Kondogbia and Maxime Gonalons, both have been linked with us, especially the latter. I don't really know much about either of them.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

They are decent players to watch, but they aren't playing at champions league level - so its hard to know how good they will be at the top level. Gonalons/capoue for me would be good signings. kondogbia a bit like diame. I do hope we get someone for that position though.

Eds, have you heard anything about interest in Lyons midfielder Clement Grenier?

Last night during Arsene Wengers commentary on the Champions league Final for TeleFoot, he spoke about his interest in Grenier:

"We are following him, " Wenger told Telefoot. "His intelligence of play pleases me. He has interesting qualities. He reminds me of Nasri. "

He is only 22, an attacking midfielder and stands at 6, 1". He is very skilful and is a 'Free-Kick' specialist!
He I valued at around £10. {Ed027's Note - I have just heard what you have heard

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Anyone worth a gamble at £10

Agree0 Disagree0

£10 that's a risk

26 May 2013 10:43:51
Morning everyone

Anyone know with barca set to sign neymar are they now going to have to sell some players to make back some money? Or is that not the case. Also if they are then are we interested in any? Thanks for your time guys! {Ed027's Note - Villa & Sanchez are available

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Thank you ed

Now that we are in the qualifying round of the CL, does anyone think that top players will wait to see if we qualify first, before signing for us?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

26 May 2013 12:06:07
How about we put in a cash offer for Bale. If the board are prepared to meet salary demands of Rooney, we can beat the new contract offered to Bale.

If Spurs turn down the offer then at least we've shown muscle in the transfer market.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

26 May 2013 11:53:31
Benteke seems to be looking to move.
"If the chance comes up for me to join a club like Arsenal, I'm convinced we can reach a compromise where everyone comes out a winner. "
Wenger needs to sign him as I doubt the Jovetic, Higuain or Rooney deals will happen abd he smashed the premiership this season. I think he could be as good as Drogba in the long term.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Wenger has never invested in a benteke type of player or a drogba type so I can't see him at arsenal having said that maybe wenger will surprise, a good goalkeeper and df is needed mingolet has been consistent in a struggling sunderland side please not the relegated OPR goolie

Agree0 Disagree0

26 May 2013 11:48:26
Whats peoples opinion on Clement Grenier? Wenger said we're interested.

Connor

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I believe if we can't or won't afford the current £30m+rated players then we need to go for the U21 talent such as Mata and Azpilicueta who might cost between £10-20m but who will clearly grow into those players in the next season or so.

Examples of where this happened - Mata, Azpilicueta to Chelsea. Reus to Dortmund. Eisfeld to Arsenal (albeit premature).

Players I'd put into this category now - Pogba, Lamela, Benteke

Clement Grenier is one of them, he's the French U16, 17, 18 and 21 wizkid if wiki is anything to go by, and he is arguably a future star.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 May 2013 11:36:48
Hi Ed
new to this forum
was watching the CL final on the french channel where Wenger was commentating and there was a vague reference to us being interested in clemen grenier.
do you have info on that?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

26 May 2013 10:07:05
neymar has officially signed for barcelona according to their twitter. making it certain david villa will be leaving? I believed our interest had cooled off, is this still true? if this is the case, which clubs are interested in villa?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

David Villa to Spurs seems to be the talk.

I'm having a feeling its going to be the same story every summer with the latest reports tha jovetic is on his way to juventus. which higuain might follow. Rumours of rooney to arsenal can't happen. so I wonder which striker is out their to get. benteke is a NO NO to me, not in anyway better than the ones we have.
I hope wenger proves me wrong when the transfer window opens. Sanogo is a good player with bad injuries. So personally a RB is needed, DM kondogbia or paul pogba not bad, with the fact that arteta is slow and give us fouls in dangerous positions, thou I don't mind if we stick with a fully fit three midfielders of rambo wilshere and santi. then if we can luckily get isco on the left, walcolt on the right and a better stiker than giroud. I'm ok with our defence. Signing a goalkeeper is just waste of money.

DURANTULA

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Benteke - 23 goals in 37 games for Villa. That's more than any of our strikers. He's got more pace than Podolski and Giroud. He's got much faster reflexes and turning ability than both, and pops off shots quicker than both. But he's a NO from you. Ok then!

Agree0 Disagree0

Would be slightly dissapointed with Benteke to be honest. We can definitely do better imo

Agree0 Disagree0

I can't see how Benteke can be better than Podolski. would love to see Benteke try and get into the German national team

After watching the champions league final last night. Gundogan looks like a quality player that could fill the box to box midfielder role that Wenger is looking for.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Soo agree. He looks a pearl. Borrusia have 5 players that I would love to see at the Emirates:

Pisczek--> Sagna out
Subotic --> Vermalaen out
Gundogan --> Diaby and Coquelin out
Lewandowski
Marko Reus --> Gervinho out

wishful thinking I know, but I am allowed to dream aren't I?

Agree0 Disagree0

best players we will realisctally sign this season not necesaraly all of them.
ceasar or mignolet
corchia
dragovic or N'Koulou
Gonalons or Bender
cabella or Schurlle
hopefully Fabregas but probs not
Benteke, Bony or jovetic although that looks to be off now
done deal sanago

Here's a thought, how about AW moves sagna to CB, buys another defender to fill in for sagna, then 1. We keep sagna and his experience
2. We have an extra person to fill in rb position
3. More money to spend on other positions
4. New position for sagna means new responsibilities and he'll b itchin to get involved.

Jenkinson can take over from sagna, then sagna can be cover for both cb & rb. Sagna did show he was up for it when he played in that position last time.

Just a thought.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Pointless. If he stays we buy a new CB, 2 if vermaelen goes and then you keep a right back at right back.

Agree0 Disagree0

It's to late in Sagna's career to make him switch positions. I know he had one good game at CB but that doesn't mean he will all the time.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 May 2013 08:42:43
Personally I think we should stop perusing Jovetic, Higuain, Cesar, Remy etc.

My top 6 signings for Arsenal would be

Mignolet (8£mil - 10£mil)
A. Williams (6£mil - 10£mil)
Gonalons (8£mil - 12£mil)
Isco (I've heard his release clause is only 27£mil, he would link up with Santi extremely well)
Benteke (15£mil - 22£mil)
Lewandoski or Rues (25£mil - 30£mil)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

26 May 2013 04:31:14
what about Daniel Carvajal from Bayer Leverkusen to replace Sagna

With the news that Lyon are interested in loaning in Gervinho with the option to buy (They are short on money), why don't we trade Gervinho + 5 Million pounds for Maxime Gonalons. It would work out for both teams
