Not being ungrateful or downright nasty, but we could have been 5 or 6 nil up at the end of that game!

It's been the same in quite a few of the games this season. If we were a bit more ruthless, teams and supporters alike would be in fear of us.

I just think if we really went for it and put the ball in the net as much as we should, teams would really focus on their defence more than they already are.

A top team tonight would have equalised against us when we took the foot of the pedal, but if we were as ruthless in all the games they wouldn't get the chance as much.

Again, I'm not being ungratefull of the fantastic football we have been playing. Would just like to see teams in fear/awe of us like before.

Anybody else hear Andy Townsend shout "GET IN" when he thought Thauvin had scored but for the save from Szczesny. Bloody hell! I use to remember when the football pundits that didn't like us at least tried not to voice their dislike.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Think he really thought it was going in, as did I. Some comentators just get excited (Andy Gray) the player chose the right option and hit it perfectly, a neutral would have enjoyed it going in.

Anyway, it doesn't matter. Our fantastic No1 who didn't do much all game pulled off another 'worldy' :)

Agree0 Disagree0

I've never heard a commentator come out with that before. I wonder if he was commentating from his bed! LOL

All this Bendtner stuff in the papers about him kicking a door today at his home everyone's read it ok. But to be fair on him what the press didn't report was that he missed the door with his first seventeen attempts. LOL

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Lol GOLDBOY, love it but at least Bendnter would say "well I was in the right position but the door didn't fall right for me"

Agree0 Disagree0

Dagenham. Here's the clincher.! He was with Sturridge and Ramires that night and Sturridge swears he was tripped up when he slipped on the pathway and Ramires said he also fell over when he tripped over Bendtners shoe when it flew off. Sound familiar?

Agree0 Disagree0

Jose Mourinho was there and he said it was definitely a penalty

P5, W4, L1, 12 points and we still haven't qualified. Amazing.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I know shocking even a team that comes 3rd can have more point than a team that wins there group, wtf!?

Agree0 Disagree0

Well we will be very unlucky to not go through on 12 points, I would say that would be the first time that it would have happened. I guess it as consequecne of having 2 closely matched good teams (when there is usually only 2 stand out teams in each group) and one team in Marsellie as wipping boys, I expected a bit more from them really.

I am confident as I think we can only go out if we loss 3-0 or more To Napoli, It will be tough game as they have to go for it but that just may suit us on the counter, Walcott needs to start.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
It gives me great pleasure to announce, that after many many years of trying, the one, the only, GUNNER62, has finally predicted a correct scoreline.
3 cheers for G62,

Hehe yes mate, you should have made the headlines last night.

If my arithmetic is correct a 3-0 defeat in Naples would see Arsenal eliminated assuming Dortmund beat Marseilles.
All the more reason we should have shown far greater urgency in the first half and especially later on when Ozil's non-penalty and Cazorla's careless blooter may come back to haunt us.
A 4-0 win tonight would have given us a cushion of 4 goals rather than 2. {Ed003's Note - You need to avoid a 3-0 defeat due to your head to head with Napoli nothing to do with goal difference.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ed is correct Smartie,
It has nothing to do with goals scored, its head to head. EG, we beat Napoli 2-0 at Emirates, so when we go to Italy in 2 weeks time, we have to make sure we don't lose by 3 goals.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed
If we lose 2-0 to Napoli then the head to head would be 2-2, as would Arsenal and Dortmund at 2-2.
If games with Marseilles are discounted, what happens then? {Ed003's Note - Oooh good one,think it's goals scored then goal difference off the top of my head.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Think of it this way. napoli need to come guns blazing to beat us by that margin. we will be setup to hit on the counter. all we need is a point. however if a team over commits, there is always a chance we can win the game too. let's not count ourselves out yet. I think we can win it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lakervile,
Yes, I hope you're correct, but I'm more interested in the actual mathematics than what you hope might happen.
If Marseille's results are discounted then this might turn out to be very tight indeed. {Ed003's Note - UEFA paragraph 187 note E clearly states if all teams finish equal maths are not allowed and it will be decided by the average penis size of the whole squad* pro rata per mins they played in the tournament,You will probably get at least a draw over there chill out lol}

Agree0 Disagree0

Napoli can't hold back and play for cagey 1-0 win they need a 3 goal margin so have to really go for it. This will suit us just to play on counter start Walcott up top alonside Giroud for this one and we will catch them on the break. I think it may end 2-2 or something which will do. The key will be not to panic if they get the first goal.

Agree0 Disagree0

In that case drop Cazorla and Walcott and bring back Steve Bould and Thierry Henry

Agree0 Disagree0

Guys I agree that Napoli needing to score 3 against us will open the game up. hopefully to our advantage. But we much remember that last year we needed to beat Bayern by 3 goals to force extra time, and by gosh we nearly did it. Also, might have been the previous year, but we needed to beat AC Milan (I think it was them) by a couple of goals following a poor first leg, and again we nearly did it! Napoli are a decent team, and will be very dangerous when they have nothing to lose by throwing everything against us.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with boogz, its "sqeaky bumtime"

Decent performance, more beans on toast than steak and chips but its the result that matters.
can't believe Aaron missed that sitter after 5 minutes and what a dreadful pen by Ozil, should have let Olly take it.
Two good goals by JW10, nice to see him getting on the scoresheet.

Thoughts: 3 points. Check. Wilshere MOTM, next in line would be Monreal. Thought Monreal played extremely well. We'll have some good competition at left-back. Szcz had some crucial saves. Overall, good game. Loved our creativity but seemed to lack that bite in the final third. Plus, we gave the ball away way too cheaply in the second half, probably due to fatigue.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Totally agree messenger

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think it was due to fatigue, I just think that the other team just didn't turn up so why play all guns blazing when we don't need to, I think we did give the ball away sometimes quite cheaply but we didn't exactly have to work hard to get it back, for me it was just 'job done' helps us focus for this weekend :) COYG

What a night!!! We're as good as in the last 16, Jacks looking great again AND??? By far the real story of the night I GOT A SCORE PREDICTION RIGHT FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE 1973.
Can't wait for the news at 10 to start
Oh and DG! Read them and weep my friend, running flush :-)

Job done really.

Never really got going and it was more of a training game which is good with a trip to Cardiff on Saturday.

Nice 3pt cushion as we go to Naples to go through the motions and top the group.

My 5 pet hates from penalty takers.
1. No run up
2. Waiting for the keeper to dive.
3. Side footed shots with no pace.
4. Within the keepers reach.
5. Ones that don't hit the back of the net. (This is the one I hate the most.)
Sometimes you just know a player isn't going to score.
Flybo

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He didn't look keen and I called that he'd miss.

Still, better for him to miss in a match we'd won after 30secs.

Agree0 Disagree0

Flybo you forgot No.6, not letting Olly Giroud take it.

26 Nov 2013 20:39:38
I wasn't optimistic when I saw Ozil walking up to take the penalty. I have no idea why Giroud didn't take it considering he scored one last game. To be fair though, Mandanda was off his line by a few feet. I don't know what the ref on the touchline was watching

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Is that the same ref who missed the blatant penalty on giroud for shirt pulling?

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Nov 2013 15:48:45
Giroud probably didn't take it as he's always practicing against Mandanda for the national squad to be fair

Statement match tonight. Play angry and hit them early and often.

Let's hope Dortmund and Napoli draw and we are in, only needing a point at Naples to get first.

We control our own destiny, let's keep it that way.

My prediction for tonight is 2 0,
I feel very confident I am going to call a correct score before the 2038 world cup finals kicks off and this could be the one.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Lol i'm going to see your hand G62 and raise you, i'm going for 3-0

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair play g62.

Should have been half a dozen had we actually got into 2nd gear and taken a few chances!

Pleased for Jack, he's playing well and getting amongst the goals now can only be good for his confidence.

Nik B arrested again, in early hours for criminal damage.
I'm amazed there are not clauses I'm contracts where the club can terminate a contract for bringing shame/disrepute to the club.

He's such a carcrash I'd rather park take his place on the bench henceforth and just throw this tw@ on the skip in the carpark.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Nik B is not going to play for Arsenal again, with Walcott back, and with podolski just a few weeks away from game fitness.

fingers crossed out options don't suffer any injuries that we have to go to him again. 34 days to go and he will be someone else problem

Agree0 Disagree0

But who would want him? silly boy.
He is making himself unemployable because of his form, wages and attitude hard to see who would want and could afford him no.
Sunderland tried, Juve tried who would be brave enough to gamble on him .
Mark Hughes ain't got a he money at Stoke :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

If we could not give him away in the summer, why do think we can get rid of him in January.
He will stay to get every penny from us on his current contract rather than take a drop in wages. And then still have the brass neck to expect a hefty signing-on fee from any other club willing to take a gamble.
And he will be out of the game by the time he is 28 and it still won't be his fault.

Agree0 Disagree0

Useless waste of space. Its a shame because he had the talent, but not the dedication. I wonder who will win the fight to sign him? Barca or Real?

Agree0 Disagree0

Should have been arrested years ago for impersonating a TW*T

Eds. with all the Messi rumours gathering momentum ( personally I could never see it happening) but if he were to transfer who would you imagine he would end up with and what would you imagine his worth would be for a club to buy him.? Another point I would like to know is how do you imagine his game play would work in the Premier League and do you imagine he would be the same player. I know that Ozil has fitted right in and adapted from the get go but Messi is a player that really relies strongly on the team round him. Thanks. {Ed002's Note - In mid December 2012 Anzhi made an offer to Barcelona that matched the 250M euro buy-out clause that exists in his contract, and put up what I am told was a very significant personal package. However, Messi was not interested and has extended his contract with Barcelona.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Where could he go?
He would improve any team beyond question but I doubt he could genuinely leave barca, he loves them they love him so they are stuck with each other.
Must be horrible for them

Agree0 Disagree0

Well it depends, barca need money, they have the likes of neymar, sanchez, who will keep them contending at a high level, and they have a player that will help them wipe half their debts with a single transfer.

the economical view point is there to see, the emotional viewpoint from the player and the fans is another.

ive been to the camp nou a few times, once when xavi was injured, once when xavi and iniesta were injured and once when the forwards villa and pedro and sanchez were injured and they played with tello and cuenca.

speaking to the fans, they really did not care if 10 players did not play. they knew they had the one, everyone else wanted. not to say they would win the match with messi vs 10. but just shows how much they adore that midget. So any potential transfer of messi has to be carefully planned, the club may accept the offer but the player has to also. otherwise sandro rosell and the other board members may find themselves in a position they do not want to against those barca socios.

OK, I was harsh on Spurs last night, and giving it a bit more thought, you have to say they were pretty decent for the first 13 seconds.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Haha :-) very good.

-3 goal difference. that is a sight to behold.

Thought of something earlier that made me chuckle, when we lost to Manchester United the headlines were "there back in the title race!" Or words to that effect, first game after the international and they draw 2-2 which they didn't deserve anything out of that one example being shrek kicking that player in the leg after his dispossessed him(rather easily I might add) so now there 7 points behind us so basically back where they were. I guess what I'm trying to say is pundits and papers are still very quick to write us off and say utd will win the league, now of course it would be fantastic if we did win because then we can rub it in there face but also you get this feeling that if we do win it would be "well the top 3 contenders all changed their mangers so you had it easy" didn't stop most of them spending lots of £££ lol
Should really try and sleep now lol {Ed003's Note - You're reading to much into things lol,just enjoy and don't worry about what others think because at the end of the day their views mean nothing.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I'd rather all the other teams worry about man utd. and let us sneak on by.

its only 12 games in with 26 to play for. win our next two games and we have the likes of Everton At home, City away and Chelsea at home to play.

we can come off with 6 points from those fixtures. fingers crossed. we need to win those games.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think city need to fear us more than the other way round, their full of goals on a good day and full of holes another.
Everton are difficult to beat and plays some good stuff too but at home we have to expect 3pts.
Chelski well let's face it they can be very good but also not all that, we have to learn from the MU game and not freeze up against a name.
7 points would be good from these three but 9 is not out of the question

Agree0 Disagree0

I like your optimism G62. let's hope the boys have it in them.

we had too many midfielders playing thru the middle against utd. no width. let's hope now with walcott back we can spread the pitch, bring depth to our midfield, bring depth to our wings, and also have a backup option to giroud.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed Lakervile mate, we need to use Theo and Gnarby more in games to give us that wide option.
