Credit where its due, Sanogo was a big big call that paid off, well done Arsene.
If we're going to criticise peoples mistakes we should also be prepared to praise their successes.
One swallow doesn't make a spring and one good call doesn't wipe out a catalogue of bad ones so far this season.
Excellent result tonight let's see what happens at the Baggie blouse's on Saturday

Hi everyone
nice result, OMG, about time too.
alex sanchez was awesome, worth every cent. hope the others see what is required!:)

Thought he got his tactics spot on tonight with the set up, team performance, set up and discipline
You are right - give him credit where credits due
He also has a crazy injury list. A stable back 4 was key last season. deduchy, per, Kos and Gibbs is a good back 4. We just need them to play 5 games in a row!

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Nov 2014 23:09:43
Agree G62.

Credit to Arsene and the boys.

Agree0 Disagree0

Good win sanogo is still a championship player for me. sanchez is unreal love the guy and he will only get better.

i guess dortmund rocking up without reus is like us without sanchez I woudlnt like to see that.

we are through aslong as we don't get barca, psg, bayern, atletico, real, porto we should be ok. roll on zenit, leverkusen or monaco :)

martinez impressed me

26 Nov 2014 21:57:12
Very happy with that.

No Sczezny, Ospina, Koscielny, Debuchy, Ozil, Giroud, Welbeck and Walcott.

26 Nov 2014 21:57:00
Sanchez for me too and a big packet of plasters for the rest of the team.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

26 Nov 2014 21:53:43
That's more like it.

BD were poor but that was a solid performance.

We got our goals than changed our pattern and tactics.

Kept it tight, 2 rows of four, the defence dropped back a bit and the midfield covered the back 4.

Much better.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - dont you think BD were poor because the defensive unity of all the players denied them time and space dags?..arsenal played well mate, bit harsh there fella..

26 Nov 2014 22:55:32
Fair point Ed.,

Bit of both I think. They were fairly poor but we were certainly much improved and denied them any chances.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Nov 2014 03:47:16
Dortmund weren't poor, we just set up to hinder thier attack. Their creative players had little space and their pacey forwards never had the chance to get in behind.

If we play like that against every big team we won't lose.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dags thoughts on gundogon? I rate the guy highly. if wenger is obsessed with an arteta time player then he's the boy. looked good after a horrible long injury

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Nov 2014 12:57:53
Derby,
I would take Ilkay Gundogan any day.

Good all round player, more offensive than defensive, so not sure if Wenger will splash the cash on him.

Have heard Utd are looking at him.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I think it likely Gundogan will move in the summer, and if he does it may well be to Real Madrid if they rekindle previous interest - but they are likely to be driven by sales and what happens with their coach - who is eyeing a job back in England. Barcelona are out of the equation.}

Eds if there coach does move to england I can't see him wanting to join a club where he will have to car share to games.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Nov 2014 18:40:58
Thanks for the info Ed.

Derby, that was blooming terrible :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

So ancelotti is thinking on heading to england?

so liverpool could have quite a manager in the next 6 months.

i must ask as to why he would want to leave madrid, the weather, the team, the clean politics. I mean where is the excuse?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - You are making this up.}

26 Nov 2014 21:52:38
At work won't see game while tomorrow, at least I can watch it in a good mood.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

26 Nov 2014 21:52:03
Well good performance in a solid 2-0 win, but you kind of sensed that Dortmund were not going full at it really with them already likely qualified top. It's kind of like that with us we only perform when the pressure of expectation is off.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - bit harsh that ryan, lets give the guys a bit of credit where its due..

Yes not saying it was a good all round team performance against good team, just that I feel we tend to play better when we are not expected to perform. I want us to start performing in the key games against the good sides when there is more pressure on it.

Agree0 Disagree0

We played well and u take the victory. but it did have a sense of city versus bayern. dortmunds strikers was terrible immobile does what his name says lol. he doesn't suit them at all.

ginter 8mill they got a steal there though good defender only 20yrs old

26 Nov 2014 21:51:40
Thought Martinez did well tonight. Composed, good saves and distribution

Believable0 Unbelievable0

26 Nov 2014 21:40:39
Got the margin correct at least!

Anyway, a question for everyone, simple answers please none of the doom and gloom rubbish.

If you were AW and you were given 40m to spend on one player who would you choose?

Fabregas or Sanchez

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - sanchez for me..

26 Nov 2014 21:48:43
Sanchez for sure.

13 goals in 20 games is hugely impressive but the guy's work rate is phenomenal.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sanchez every day of the week for me. I would have said that when they were both at Barcelona too.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sanchez, but what could of been if we got both? Admittedly Wenger had to put faith in ozil as both probs couldn't really play together, but you would think denying him to Chelsea would put us closer to them right now and he probably could of sold ozil for most of what he got him for. Not that I want ozil gone but at the min I have to say I would prefer cesc to ozil

Agree0 Disagree0

Sanchez for us. Yes Fabregas has been great for Chelsea but they needed that sort of player more than we did as its not creativity we lack it is finishing and defending.

We need our Matic really, so perhaps the question should have been a DM+CB or Sanchez?

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Nov 2014 22:02:21
Sanchez all day long, apart from one pass against us Fabregas has been Mr Invisible against the bigger sides and picked out by some pundits as Chelsea's weak link.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Nov 2014 22:21:56
Simple - Sanchez :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Me too - Sanchez

I believe that aw had to make the same decision, he couldn't have both

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Nov 2014 03:51:08
If we bought Fabregas we would have an assist king with no good forwards to finish the chances he creates.

With Sanchez we have a player who can create chances, take on players and finish chances. He is exactly what we need. Him and Aguero have been the most exciting players to watch this season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dags lol its like saying if you were at war would you choose a knife or a gun lol. sanchez is amazing. bargain

26 Nov 2014 21:00:55

Even though we have started to spend more in the transfer market, we still don't really compete with other top teams in amount spent, do people feel its wengers reluctance or the board doesn't give him much more and if the latter would a new manager with same funds be able to get us better results?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i think the money is there if he needs it eden, but to me he gets his buzz out of picking up a young unknown and turning him into a star...but that could just be me mate..

Its nice when that happens, but the amount of dross we have in the squad that I doubt will get many run outs proves it doesn't work often enough and then you're stuck with players you can't get rid of.but you think the board would let him spend more, he just chooses not to.definitely time to go then, shame though because I do wish he could beat the big spenders without spending, it would be good for football. Why I always hope Everton do well and really hope saints can do well

Ed02 do you think wenger will leave arsenal? And who do you think will replace him? Only your personal opinion thanx will really appreciate your reply

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Mr Wenger only recently signed a new contract so I would not expect to see him leave in the near future.}

Sacking Arsene is no where near an option this season and even if we don't make the CL next season is very unlikely too.
If we finish outside the top 4 he may consider falling on his sword in the summer, I wouldn't hold your breathe but he might

Agree0 Disagree0

Jurgen Klopp would seem the ideal fit to replace Wenger and he has hinted at moving into the EPL recently. I don't think Wenger will go anytime soon though as he always honours his contract and knows he will never be sacked.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i think you might find klopp is of a similar ilk ryan..

26 Nov 2014 14:39:28
Add me to the Wenger's time has come brigade. I've always tried to understand both sides of this argument, but I can't take any more of Groundhog Day every match day for 8 years. For his sake and ours he needs a fresh challenge. I feel like it's the early 1980s all over again.

But having seen Kroenke run teams in North America, I doubt we will see much change in our perennial aim for fourth. If we get a better manager, we'll be expected to get 4th on the same or less resources, not challenge for the title. For Kroenke, Arsenal is a 'franchise' and an 'asset' in the American league model where revenue and player rights are basically exempted from anti-trust. He's in to protect his investment, not win titles. For that reason I'd even hold my nose and take Usamov - at least he would want to beat Abramovich?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Welcome yyc I can see a tipping point soon mate I honestly can

Usmanov has said Wenger needs to buy a whole new team.

Barcelona?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If I was usmanov i'd of said let me buy the club one more time, the say no i'd sell my shares and go win the league with spurs lol

Honestly though I think i'd buy the saints. he wouldn't need to sell and could add some players to them

Even Mystic Meg is shrugging her shoulders and looking confused.

See you all after the game.

Usual time, usual place.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Nov 2014 15:05:16
C'mon Saint,

You got to watch it.

Think of all the attractive free flowing football.
The one touch passing, the player movement, the dribbling, the skills, the shooting and the great goals, followed by the euphoria from the crowd.

Anyway, that's enough about Dortmund.

Who Dortmund playing against? :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Cmon guys, they don't need to win and need to concentrate on their domestic league.

3-1 Arsenal

Agree0 Disagree0

Haven't a clue about tonight,
Reasons to. Believe we will win, we have to at some point
Reasons to believe we'll draw they don't need a result
Reasons to believe we'll lose, there isn't time to list them as kick off is only 2 hours away

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - your getting more and more negative as the season rolls on G62!, get a grip man!.. :)

Strangely Ed I feel much better after Saturday, before that I still had a tiny bit of hope left but now i'm completely devoid of any hope what soever while Arsene controls our future its had a very calming affect on me

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - things will improve mate, you have too many good players for it not to...keep the faith G62..

I'm sure your right Ed mate, things will get better ( let's face it they can hardly get worse -:)
I just don't think the players have any more belief in Arsene than the fans any more, they need leadership and someone to show them a new plan to buy into, one they can go home after training with full of excitement about rather than try to convince themselves their manager is right and the rest I of the football world is wrong STILL

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Nov 2014 10:43:19
So,

Our boy Jack could be out for 12 weeks.

I hate to walk down this well trodden path, but bearing in mind Jack has more injuries than my local A and E, so surprised we did not make an offer for Fabregas.

Oh yeah, I forgot we have Wilshere, Rosicky and Diaby at our disposal.

Its like trying to compete in a car race and turning down a formula 1 car because you have a Cortina that never starts, a VW that breaks down every 2 miles and a decent Clio that you never take out of the garage.

Confused.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It will be 3months minimum I think, knowing him he will need an operation.

get some steel in the middle before its too late. double swoop wanyama and schniderlin

Agree0 Disagree0

Why did we have a first refusal clause for Fabregas when we had no intention of bringing him back. He ran the game for us at 22 years old now he's even better and running the premier league for Chelsea. Majorly let down we didn't bring him back.

So Jacks glass ankles need another operation. Will this mean his new £150k a week deal will only be £145k a week?

Wilshere I really thought you were our next big thing but your useless.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Ignore the clauses.}

End of the day we don't have matic, cahill, terry or a world class goalie. cesc would change very little.

we had first refusal but we also had sell on clause and we took the cash in the end

Agree0 Disagree0

That is the issues for Wilshire he is always either injured or getting back up to top speed after a injury. Just when he was getting into his stride both for us and England yet another setback it is a running theme really.

Wilshire will always draw in late tackles because of his tight control and the way likes to move in tight spaces between players and hence he will get more injuries.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - wes not known as...jack wheelchair.. for nothing ryan.. :)

26 Nov 2014 09:06:21
When you are from this club, you are from this club
You are either in or out, you can't be both
Qoute from Arsene Wenger

I'm not sure what he's getting at there but I assume it means if you criticise him or the team your not Arsenal throgh and through and against the team.
Put up and shut up or be branded a traitor, nothing like blame deflection to protect your ego Arsene, unhappy fans are to blame not you after all it seems

Believable0 Unbelievable0

G62 what is it coming to? You pay X amount of money to watch a team every week, change your weekly schedule to watch games etc and now your not aloud to be disgruntled with lacklustre performances or else your branded disloyal and a fake supporter. I can't take these press conference anymore, he is actually blaming us the fans for his short comings and mistakes.

I'm officially done he must go. Go Wenger, please GO!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - It could be him having a pop at the people above him not doing what he sees as their best for the club, people who are more than happy to reap the rewards of owning/running Arsenal but aren't willing to take the club to the next level. I honestly can't see Wenger having a go at the supporters.}

26 Nov 2014 10:31:41
Its probably/hopefully, just a dig at Usmanov for his previous comments.

To be fair to Usmanov, a major shareholder but not a board member, he has every right to voice his opinions about the way the club is run, be it good or bad.

Sad but true, if 5,000 Arsenal supporters express an opinion, it will get swept under the carpet, if Usmanov talks, people might listen. However, if that person is Wenger, it too, will get swept under the proverbial carpet.

Agree0 Disagree0

Usmanov is spot on with what he says. if only wenger had to answer to him we would be ok and could move forward. il continue to wait for the day he finally takes over and we realize we wasted over a decade under kronke

Agree0 Disagree0

When you read Usmanovs interview and then Wengers response it is farcical. Wenger does not address anything Usmanov says at all.

At least people like Dalglish and Fergie gave it to their fans blunt and straight.

We are all Wengers puppets.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Nov 2014 13:15:05
He is simply saying what goes on in the club stays in the club, Usmanov should just shut his fat hole, the bloke is minted he could buy Arsenal with some small change, he's not interested just sees it as an investment.

He's about as legit as Ronnie Kray but never let that get in the way of wanting him at the club!

Agree0 Disagree0

U can only buy if someone sells stoner and the owner now is also rich.

as usmanov isn't allowed on the board he has no say in the board room. let him in i'm sure he can tell him what's wrong

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Nov 2014 07:27:49
What a player Aguero is, we should have been all over that transfer when he was ready to leave Atletico.

On another not I'm pumped for this game tonight and hopefully we get a win to kick start our dreadful year thus far.

I'm going 3-1 to men in red assuming our defenders stay in our own half when we attack!
Sanchez, Rambo and Welbeck to get amongst the goals.

Ps. Is this posthapoudoulpousdoopoulaooslapos actually going to play 2 weeks after suffering a broken leg? HEAVY!

Not sure VDG, but there are without Marco Reus, Sven Bender, Mats Hummels, Nuri Sahin, Sokratis and some bloke who's name begins with B, that I'm not even going to attempt to spell because my autocorrect will probably punch me in the face with a right uppercut.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think theyl go for us tonight. klopp knows he could land this job. 2-1 dortmund. pray to god i'm wrong
