Omg what have I done sorry guys. I was thinking today. Cech amazing gets better and better for us. Part of me also thinks what the last ten years could of been with a goalie his level in net

But he's here now and I'm loving every minute of it. Love him.

Derby,
You sure it wasn't Rooney?
If it was, that's the only time he has scored this season :-)

Would you start Rooney in the euros? His last tournament I think. he's not a starter in my eyes even though roy will play him.

26 Oct 2015 11:29:41
Definitely not.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Oct 2015 11:30:43
If he plays him it will be playing aa name not aplayer, 2004 he looked a world beater in Portugal but since then he's disappointed in every tournament.
Move on and give others like Theo Kane Vardy Sturrige a proper go in a big tournament, Geoff Hurst wasn't first choice but Ramsey stuck with him for the final and the rest is history as they say.

I really can't get my head around how anyone still rates him in any way, he is Uniteds captain and thus seems to be first on the team sheet, we would go nuts if the same was happening with Arteta. I'm not comparing the two as players but the circumstances relating to there performances and ability to lead the team, in fact Arteta offers more for me.

Rooney of maybe as much as 5 years back was a pretty frightening opponent but now I genuinely hope he plays because they may as well have ten men, so I hope Van Gaal sticks by him.

For me he is a spent force, sitting back enjoying the fruits of holding them to ransom more than once for his obscene wages.

It made me cringe seeing him in adverts with the likes of Ronaldo. The guy has to be a stone overweight. I really would take Giroud over him and Harry Kane for England with the likes of Sterling, Sturridge, Welbeck, in fact anyone but Rooney.

However long may he continue leading United as the genuinely handsome face of that club.

I have seen him compared to a jacket potato and that is being unkind to potatoes! ;-)

Sorry guys got to be real on the situation . Rooney has to play he's the captain he's the top scorer and he always manages to get a goal! It was only two weeks ago that a few on here were worried it would be Rooney again for united against us. I agree he is on the decline but he is a must for the euros. It ok dropping the likes of Sturidge in to the mix but the guy needs to get fit and start getting goals or he doesn't go! It grates on me that there's all this trying out of players all the way upto a final and the first game of the final is where you play your best team for the first time. The three friendlys is where he needs to pick his strongest 11.

Grow,

I honestly don't know what you see in the bloke, he is nothing short of shocking, did you see his stats after the City game.

Any once top player is capable of a bit of magic but he has no pace, can't hold up the ball, his passing is woeful, he is clearly out of shape, can't play as an out an out striker and is 5h1te as a no10.

What am I missing. Once Mike Tyson was the most feared boxer in the world but once he lost one he was gone.

Otamendi totally owned him on Sunday, it's like the Commentaters say the name Rooney but your actually watching Darren Bent. :-)

They are wasting Martial to accommodate that ejit.

26 Oct 2015 15:12:23
You guys know he's our greatest goal scorer ever, right?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - so was Bobby charlton at one time UG....but he won't be getting a game anytime soon mate:)..

26 Oct 2015 16:01:45
You should check out who he scored all those International goals against ubistonk, Durka Durkastan, Hoplessbajani, Calamityani, Uselessyplankia and Bumville Idaho.

Mate he could have scored 3 million goals but would you want the Rooney of here and now playing up front for Arsenal? When was the last time he took a game by the scruff of the neck and made the difference when it mattered. Is he still living off the bicycle kick against City.

I would have loved Rooney at Arsenal years ago but not now not ever. Equally I hope he continues to play up front for them well into his 40's, stone that is. ;-)

It's all very true red dog, but Wayne Rooney still has enough to be in the England squad next year which ever way you slice it!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - he needs a move and a new challenge for me growbun, he seems to have gone stale at United..

26 Oct 2015 17:23:28
He relys on penalties now. Reminds me of Ricky hatton. A great in his sport. Could of been better. Could of lived better. Diet etc. It Catches up with you in the end.

26 Oct 2015 17:40:55
I thought we were talking about whether he should make the England team Red, not if we want him at Arsenal. To claim that he isn't good enough to get in the current England starting 11, to me is absolutely farcical.

Your right ed but he has to go. Can you imagine the uproar if he gets left out and when we crash out because that's what we always do then that will be the reason everyone uses and says 'what idiot would leave Rooney at home'

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - take him yes growbun but not as first choice at the moment mate, Kane and vardy are better options at this time imo..

26 Oct 2015 18:09:17
"leave him out and we crash out" the alternative is take him. and we crash out. like every other tournament we've taken him to. he hasn't shown up at a tournament since 2004. does well in qualification against san marino and the like, but he only plays til may. looks like he's given up bothering altogether now :)

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Oct 2015 18:09:47
ed would u take him back? ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - yes Eden, he's still a quality player but needs a fresh challenge mate..

26 Oct 2015 18:42:30
kenwright will be happy to fork out his wages :)

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Oct 2015 18:52:31
If you consider the world cup and Euro qualifiers as the championship and the finals as the premier league Rooney is a championship superstar and premier league major flop.
He's grear to get you promoted but not to go up a league with you.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Oct 2015 18:37:45
Would you swap him for Barkley?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - of that I'm not sure mate, Ross can be so frustrating at times..

26 Oct 2015 19:25:50
Ubi,

What do you see when you watch him that makes you want to put him in the England team?

What does he or has he done to even warrant a starting spot for United. What am I missing.

The guy is currently bloody awful.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Oct 2015 19:57:48
What your probably missing dog is the eye of a professional and the people who work with him day in day out who decide that he can obviously still cut the mustard . I don't think LVG would hold back if he weren't up to it. I personally can't do with the fat guy but he's far from rubbish and we ain't that blessed with dozens of world class forwards in England so we have to take him it's as simple as that.

Agree1 Disagree0

26 Oct 2015 20:13:12
Come on Eds special dispensation when referring to Rooney because fat guy sounds wet, there is only one word that cuts it.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i dont make the rules growbun, young people use the site as well mate and substituting an asterisk for a letter still makes it a foul word..

26 Oct 2015 20:34:21
Would I better using the Norman hunt tactic?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - it works for me mate.. :)

26 Oct 2015 20:49:55
I get that brow and Van Gaal was talking of what Rooney does off the pitch, exactly the same as we have talked of what Arteta does behind the scenes and whilst some of that is invaluable I just don't see what he's doing on the pitch that makes him an automatic starter for either United or England.

You could almost argue that Pelle, Tadic and Mane as a front 3 are more productive than Martial, Rooney and Mata because two are played out of position to accommodate Rooney in that side. I think if United had say Sanchez and Griezmann to play either side of Martial then Rooney wouldn't make the team but their lack of quality wide players, for me forces Van Gaals hand.

Watching him struggle is painful because he was an awesome player and 4 or 5 years ago, maybe even more, it wouldn't even be a point of discussion, not so much for England but for United he was immense.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Oct 2015 00:03:45
Spot on red dog. Rooney playing kills mata simple. Mata is still class in my eyes. You mata with two fast wingers and martial uptop and its games on.

The next two weeks will ask a lot of different questions of us
Next up swansea away which will show us if we've learned our complacency lessons especially with most of the first 11 having a free week leading up to the game it's easy to switch off, well it has been for us in the past at least.
Then Bayern where if we can get a result there we can get a result anywhere, they will want to put the record straight against us and if we can stop them doing that all doubts will disappear about our credentials.
Then spurs a game where its easy to let passion take over and for the silky skilled boxer to get dragged into a slugging match, it would be great to see us keep our discipline and skilfully dismantle them aposed to thinking we need to put on a Manchester United style show for the crowd.
Its going to be a very interesting couple of weeks for sure.
