I said last week I'm scared that at the moment Rambo/Jack really don't suit each other well.

Today didn't ease my doubts, I thought Jack was tremendous. He was best player on the pitch and he just has so much talent. I just feel him and Rambo do a lot of similar things and haven't really clicked yet. Jacks been poor so far before today.

Let's hope Jack can play like he did today when Rambo is back in the team.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Its called balance and mr wenger seems to struggle with the concept. Instead of bringing the best out of players, his tactics stifle them.

28 Aug 2014 13:29:07
Steve.r are you honestly saying arsene doesn't being the best out of players? Would you like me to list some players that he has got the best out of? I'd be delighted too

Eds any chance we could go back in for Higuain now that Napoli have been knocked out of CL or has that ship sailed. Thanks

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed027's Note - think its sailed mate, as I said before Sanchez is first choice, so don't expect anyone who will displace him

27 Aug 2014 23:08:22
Play who where, dnt play him there, y buy him & play him out of position, etc.

Wenger bought them, Wenger is there whn thy train, Wenger tells thm what to do in a game.
So.
If we win don't blame Wenger. He knows the players better than all of us & if he thinks playing him in his natural position for a certain game might make us lose. Let him do as he pleases.
Its better playing players out of position & we win. THAN playing them in their prefered positions & we lose.
So if we win let's not complain my fellow gunners.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Dumbest post ever. thanks dude!

Agree0 Disagree0

LOL, I'm with you supermac, what utter drivvel.

Agree0 Disagree0

What an absolute load of waffle. can't make head or tail of your logic.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lol, all am sayin is we don't know th players as Wenger does & if he has a tactic in his mind. He knows what to expect from each player if he plays thm like he wants.

Agree0 Disagree0

All am sayin is Wenger knows th players & th tactic in his head better than all of us. Ozil was out wide but manage the winning assist. Hmmmmm

Will the JW haters please stand up, DG I hope your hands are long enough to reach something more than the ceiling, the sky probably

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I'm here mate, see post below.
Very good tonight now needs to do it consistently, not like the two good games last season, Montpelier and Norwich wasn't it?
Hate is can very strong word please don't confuse it and doubt

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Aug 2014 23:48:58
Really aman?

Am I a JW hater?

Can you point out any posts where I have said that?

No offence mate, this is my first post today, and I wasn't even going to post for a while, because its people like you that has made me decide to give this site a miss for a few weeks.

I love banter but get so peed off with people who have a dig at somebody, but can't back it up with facts.

People like you.

Agree0 Disagree0

Seriously when I talk about Hate, my post is aimed at the 1% of people who think that JW is a liability, needs to be shipped and that money used to buy another bigger presence in midfield, it is not aimed at anyone specific let me make this clear.

And DG honestly I expected better from you, after your Jokes and your light mood, I expected another DG joke on the post I made referring you. Its just that you mentioned you were wrong about AR and were holiding up your hands which have reached the cieling, and I just asked you are the long enough to reach the sky. I am sorry if you understood something else, but I was expecting a joke back on this, and not a fuss.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2014 11:37:40
Glad you cleared that up Aman. You mention haters and Dags in the same sentence and then expect a joke from him. I think Dags is well out of order for not responding with an Eddie Izzard-style 30 minute diatribe just to appease you.

Cake or death?!

An amusing read

“It is clear that you cannot reject an offer like that. But Zigic is the one who must decide. He must say what he wants. But Wenger was clear, he is offering a contract until the end of the season with the option for another 12 months.

“I know that Arsenal are in a hurry, but Nikola also has offers from Turkey and Switzerland.”

So this is quite clearly b******. If Nikola had an offer from Arsenal and then clubs in Turkey and Switzerland, do you really think he’d have a choice to make? This is just stupid agent talk and he wants to get his name out there, as agents often do. He wants to remind the world that Zigic is still a free agent, and what better way to do that than get his names all over the headlines?

He turns 34 next month and Birmingham tried to release him last season. BIRMINGHAM.

I’m sure Wenger is not stupid enough to do something like this. If he did, Milan Calasan should have just been like, Arsene:

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2014 23:06:26
So.

Is Danny Welbeck [one of your targets]? “No.”

Nikola Zigic’s agent says you want to sign him? “Zigic? No.”

Could you make a case for Alex Song returning? “Alex Song will not come back.”

Is Radamel Falcao in your price-range? “No.”

We'll - at least Zigic ain't coming :)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2014 23:05:10
no zigic, no welbeck and no falcoa. from the horses mouth after the game. thank god for that, strange though that cavani wasnt mentioned at all

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2014 22:59:39
The game finished over an hour ago - where are the signings! Thought they were waiting for us to qualify.

Patience is a virtue

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2014 22:57:57
Thought Alexis looked like Wrighty up front except the lack of support

He chased down defenders, put a shift in, scored the winner and kept on going plus loads of pace. Alexis needs a Smithy or DB10 to partner him upfront like Wrighty did.

Hang on - May be Ozil in the hole feeding Alexis.

It was nice having that pace again up front.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2014 22:42:39
Well played Monreal! Great game defensively and offensively

Thought Jack played well also

Hopefully a big season from both these guys.

Santi was full of running and Ox looked good also.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2014 22:42:24
So happy that's out of the way, I was a little worried at times like all weekend up until the final whistle.
BIG BIG shout for Jack the lad tonight another 3 or 4 on the bounce like that and you will have truly turned the corner.
With no Aaron the stage was set and you lived up to it very well

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2014 22:25:34
Well that was hairy. Well done JW strong performance and sancez ran their defence ragged, I bet they crapped them selves when they had the ball. Ox played well, but oh my god what is wrong with ozil. So out of balance again and poor finishing. Got lucky with a few pen decisions but lookily ref unsighted. We know what we need so now wenger go get em. Or battling for fourth again.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

28 Aug 2014 00:34:12
I think ozil is playing in the wrong place. He is not a winger. I think he should play behind the striker and stay there lol. Because let's be honest he cannot defend. I'd rather he stays up there and someone else marks his players on set pieces

27 Aug 2014 22:05:48
What a night. Landlord came over because of the noise (i suspect) and looked to kicked me out for the damage to the coffee table. It was my coffee table :P now I'm watching the coverage on Irish TV so it might be diferent for the most of ye. But the way they talk about Jack. Even though they praise his performance they reckon he's not dong enough for the last ~2 years. Fair enough but they never mention his injury problems. I've given my spiel before to positive review on the site over JW. Even though sometimes I wonder it won't work for him. But tonight he was so dynamic. Perhaps his not his most clicical but he performed and people still want to be on his back (the pundits) I remeber sticking with ramsey on the site for so long. I was castigatined for it. People said he did foolish back heels I said it was vision and creativity. Perhaps to my naiveity (spelling *naive*) but eventually I bent. His performances even turned me off and I do reckon I was one of the last hold outs. But I will not turn on Jack! Jack is the prodigal son he thought Cesc might be! He is Arsenal blood as much as I am. And I consider that a challenge. so look there's certainly more to be said on the game but drunken rant no.1 went to Jack.

He is Arsenal through and through!
So am I and so is anyone else on this site (who isn't a lpool fan who for some reason frequent our site in numbers like that of none other :P)

Never back us not to qualify because for 8/9 years that's what we do. And no other team but to the best of my knowledge Real Madrid have done in that time.

Lets love and hope

27 Aug 2014 21:55:13
Boys dug in deep tonight. Well in lads.

Now napoli have been knocked out of cl should we jump for huguian again?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2014 21:53:41
Just got out the emirates, sing a bit more next time lads, thoses Turkish made us look like mugs

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2014 21:42:37
Thank god for that,

Top draw striker, DM and defender please MR Wenger, oh and some balls for young Ozil to if you don't mind.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2014 22:11:21
So Giroud is out until the start of Jan, Wenger was asked about the striking options. Sanogo, Walcott, Podolski and Campbell are mentioned .

Listening to the interview I got the impression he wasn't that sure and maybe we are looking?

Thinking about that we did miss many chances tonight Sanchez could have had a hat trick, where have we heard that before.

So we win the Charity Shield and have 4 points out of 6 in the league, I think we would have settled for that and we are through into the group stages of the CL so all happy. The one downer is Giroud, the next few days are going to be interesting viewing and hopefully we might be smiling come Monday?

Just glad we are through.

Have to say what a good interview from Bilic.very impressed

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2014 22:54:41
Totally agree on Bilic. What a character!

Agree0 Disagree0

If we do sign a striker it will be loan deal or low cost Free agent option I feel. I know 20 Mill loan for Falcoa is a crazy price but someone of that class would give us massive edge and boost and give us a real genuine shot at the Title I feel if we sign a DM and CB aswell.

Unfortuatly Wenger is too loyal to his players so rather than give Giroud real competition for his central place he does not want to hinder his playing time when fit so look short term. We may end up with Zigic although rather him than Wellbeck and he is a free agent so Wenger may take Zigic on as a short term fill in, he certainly physical with his size if nothing else.

What about Bony on a loan deal that would be better.

Still need DM and CB, time is running out sort it Wenger else we will be nearly mean again and fade away at the business end of the season.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Aug 2014 22:10:42
Confirmed Giroud as suspected is Out until new year. A new central striker with some physicality about him is very much needed. Although knowing Wenger he will make do.

I know a 20 Mill season loan for Falcao seems crazy but a player like that would make a massive difference, Not that Arsenal would go for that but what do you guys think?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2014 23:03:15
7m wages and 13m signing fee for the year.

It may be a bit high but at least it includes wages.

We would recover a fair bit in additional shirt sales for sure and then the change next season when he leaves.

Would rather 50m on Cavani

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Aug 2014 22:01:52
So there we have it from AW, "I bought Sanchez as a striker"

Whatever santi has been eating they need to feed the whole team! Debouchy looks a great signing jw10 was so much better tonight too

COYG!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2014 21:49:11
Well played boys!

Created options for man on ball, high energy and great work rate

We would not have held onto that lead in previous years

Definite yellow for Chambers - could have ended that players career, sorry it was a bad dive, nope.,. my bad, he just ran onto the pitch.

Need a bit more bite in midfield and a little more creativity

Ox was excellent and happy with righthandside

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2014 21:43:37
Phew that was close one to say the least, Besiktas much better than I expected.

Pity Ox did not finish that chance to ease the nerves.

Wilshire played well I thought. You could argue it was penalty for them but he slipped over rather than dived in and there as minimal accidental contact.

Sanchez worked his socks off in a role that clearly does not suit him really, But he stuck at it and kept going loads of energy.

Ozil was quiet not much in game that he would be better in middle for sure.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2014 21:43:25
Job done. Now to do some business. We lose the ball too easily and look vulnerable in midfield without it. Can't kill the game despite plenty chances. Without a quality holding midfielder and goal scorer we will be run over in the big games again.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2014 21:40:29
Jack Wilshere - say no more.
Super Jack.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Only another 38 games to go before he puts in a game like that

Agree0 Disagree0

3 more like it in the next 3 games and we have another top player on our books consistency is the key now, very good game and great to see, .

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Aug 2014 23:32:03
You seem gutted about his form Banbury?
A few solid games in a row followed by that. Ran the show.

Where did I say I was gutted, don't make things up .

My point is he doesn't do it week in week out.

The refereeing is an absolute joke, uefa need to take a hard look at all there officials

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2014 21:46:55
A bit harsh that mate. Seemed to really struggle with the rules/laws but apart from that I thought he was exceptional.

Agree0 Disagree0

He was very card happy and finicky. That 2nd yellow for Dubuchy was joke as he very clearly got the ball and did not even touch the player who just fell over him sliding in to get the ball

Agree0 Disagree0

Are you saying that because we were reduced to 10 men? or because were should have had a penalty awarded against us? hmmmmmm

All swings and roundabouts

Agree0 Disagree0

And what about the penalties that should have been awarded?

Or shall we not mention those.

Be consistent guys

Swings and roundabouts

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Aug 2014 23:09:25
Lg I'd of thought all refs should know the laws of the game, it wasn't just the ref, the fourth official sent chambers on and he was booked for it, the first half, the linesman and ref (both either side of the ball) gave a foul against Sanchez, when he didn't actually touch him.
So I don't think I was harsh as there was more then these few.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Aug 2014 23:25:11
Banbury there's no doubting they should of had at least a penalty or possibly two.
And debuchy should never been given a second yellow, I'm not saying they was biased, just saying it's well below the expected standard.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Aug 2014 23:35:28
MgM, my comment was a joke mate, he was dreadful.

And Banbury, calm down, everyone's allowed an opinion. No one said he was biased against us, just that he was bad. Made countless mistakes against both sides.

Agree0 Disagree0

LG Again zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

My point is how blinkered we are, let's all comment of the decisions that went against us and forget the one's that the ref missed.

yet again consistency

look it up

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2014 21:19:30
As I said Debuchy needed to be careful and now we are down to 10 men after missing a sitter to go 2 up. game changing moment?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ever the pessimist hey mate

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2014 00:35:04
To be fair it was never a second yellow. He can't really help thst

How is calling a second yellow consistency?

If you look there is a? after my comment a game changing moment.

27 Aug 2014 21:17:27
If you had to choose one player
1.Remy
2.Bony

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - bony for me..

I'd take both Bony and Clyde before remy

Agree0 Disagree0

Close call but Bony I would go for and I guess he would be available now that Swansea have Gomis. Both certainly better than Zigic.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2014 00:07:42
got your joke g62. Average

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Aug 2014 21:01:41
So at half time we are winning. But one of the orpther scores has me wondering.
Bilbao and Napoli. It's 1-1 on agg and if it stays like that Bilbao go through. If that's the case would Higuain become an asset Napoli would be willing to sell to cover loss of CL league money.
Won't happen but an interesting improbability

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2014 20:37:26
Well 1-0 half time tight nervous game though. Sanchez took his goal well but he is not really up to that central up top role as we knew just too lightweight physically. We need to press them a bit higher giving them to much time on the ball. I would bring Podolski for CF on move Sanchez back out wide and take off one of Ozil or Carzorla.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2014 20:51:01
I think it's just a learning curve with him, I'd like to see him given a little more time.

Agree0 Disagree0

It's not his position we have him and Ozil both out of position at a cost of 70 odd million? They have made their name playing in different positions and priced accordingly, losing a CF like Giroud has caused us a problem

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Aug 2014 20:22:50
32 minutes gone and seen enough to say this Turkish side are a good outfit and we have our work cut out.

Debuchy continues to look a good buy but will need to be careful not to get a 2nd yellow. Ox looks good, Sanchez on current showing is no CF but where do you play him?

BA looks as though he will cause us problems.

I mention again how poor we are at scoring goals from our midfielders.

We don't look much different from previous years I'm afraid

We are missing Giroud without a shadow of a doubt

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Damn if wed keep this up I will have no finger nails left

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Aug 2014 20:15:52

27 Aug 2014 19:51:24
You pay 42.5 million pounds for the best playmaker in world football and you play him as a winger again. I'm absolutely dumbfounded.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - hes just filling in G95, sometimes needs must im afraid mate..or would you rather sanogo play there and all the moaning starting on here about how bad he is?..

Play Podolski left, Ox right with Ozil in behind Sanchez. That's a much more balanced attack.

I get the feeling it'll be this was for most of the season as AW will want to play Ramsey and Wilshere.

Agree0 Disagree0

How balanced?

ox bags of pace and energy with not that great a shot (missed 2 good chances in 2 weeks)

pod no pace but a great shot on him.

cazorla on the left has a good relationship with monreal since they come from the same club at LB so their interplay will be better

exactly the same can be said for the ox and chambers(when he came on)

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Aug 2014 19:34:15
Relax guys. Ed027 has said that we are not interested in zigic @ rumours page! Whew! Now I think everybody can get some sleep tonight! Btw my prediction is 2.0 to the gunners! Sanchez and ox

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2014 19:23:24
Zigic!. No! That can't be right surely. That would be a real mugging off. On the other hand how much are Birmingham going to offer us to take him.?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2014 19:00:13
On tonights game. Remember the saying "My backside is going half a crown sixpence " Ed025.
Well for the uninitiated my arse is going "5 pence, 50 pence "
That's decimalisation for you. :-)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2014 18:46:28
My prediction for tonight is 1 0 to the Arsenal after extra time, Mert or Kos with the goal.
Good news I ain't ain't got a score prediction right yet this season but the really good news I have got 2 out of 2 results right

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2014 17:12:13

Old thoughts from Arsene:

http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/wenger-why-i-don-t-want-to-buy-nikola-zigic

Since we no longer have the greatest striker in the world, there's nothing standing in the way of the transfer.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2014 16:54:32
Any chance of actually having United deal Welbeck or hernandez? Both deemed surplus to requirements but not sure if United would deal after we kept vermaelen away from them.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - they see arsenal as a threat to their champions league aspirations TG (laughs uncontrollably), so will not want to deal with a rival mate..

27 Aug 2014 16:23:32
My thoughts go out to Manuel Almunia who has retired from football at 37 after being diagnosed with a heart condition.

For those of you in the medical trade, he has been diagnosed with apical hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. It is a very dangerous condition which means that Almunia will no longer be able to play football.

As a doctor I know that this is something which he will have to live with, manage and be extremely careful with.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2014 18:12:23
Absolutely Greeny very dangerous condition. My best man at my wedding has a form of cardiomyopathy and next year we are doing the John O Groats to Lands End Bike ride to raise awareness. As you say thoughts go out to him big time!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2014 14:36:46
We should go for a certain N Bendtner of Wolfsburg, apparently he is available even though he hasn't been long at the club.

27 Aug 2014 13:23:13
An update on the results of a second scan - carried out after the swelling had gone down - is likely to come after Wednesday's Champions League play-off second leg against Besiktas.

Not too sure where the 3-4 months lay off has come from, let's wait and see when AW gives us the news

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2014 13:18:44
Ed do you think Arsenal will sign a striker, as David ornstein doesn't think we will surely we need one now.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - See numerous previous answers.}

Informative as ever, just asking.

27 Aug 2014 13:05:36
Serbian Newspaper Zurnal are reporting that Nikola Zigic is on his way to london for a medical with a 1year contract in place.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2014 13:34:07
If we sign Zigic, say goodbye to Champions League football.
Signing a player that struggles in the Championship would make no sense what so ever. Knock all the feel good factor out of the club.
I've never hoped a rumour was wrong as much as this one.
I can't cope with this.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Aug 2014 14:21:29
Lets hope its a joke. I am expecting Heskey rumours aswell

Agree0 Disagree0

Strikers' abilities are usually ranked in alphabetical order of their surnames:- ie from Abrahamovich to Zigic

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't know I thought Iván Zamorano had something about him and George Weah wouldn't rank to highly either on that scale.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Aug 2014 12:56:13
Podolski played one game last season as a CF and that was comming back from a serious injury. He was CF all his life and pretty sure Wenger signed him as a CF. Why are people against the idea of him playing upfront.

Also Sanchez played 45 mins as a CF againts Everton and people think he's pants. Remember Giroud had a stinker againts Besiktas. He played CF for udinese and plays there for Chille. We all wanted a fast striker in the summer, we finally have him and people don't think he's good enough there from one 45 min performance. The guy will come good sanchez is the guy who finally is going to replace henry.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Maybe Sanchez will replace TH14 but he doesn't look fit enough to do it for 90 minutes tonight. I would play Podolski up top with Sanchez and the Ox wide of him and Ozil and Santi supplying the killer balls through. Podolski is still the best natural finisher we have.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Aug 2014 12:55:18
are the Zigic rumors believable. I know its silly season until 11pm on monday. If wenger was to get a striker surely going from the likes of Cavani to Zigic is slightly worrying in what is planned.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2014 12:39:57
hi eds! I'm new here, writing cause I'm worried there might be some truth to the rumors linking Zigic to Arsenal. Do you think Wenger will sign him?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I have a terrible feeling we will sign him.

u are after zigic apparently I hope this is a joke for uses lot or wenger has lost plot he struggled last year in the championship haha nearly as bad as when everton got james mcfaden back

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Why don't we go the whole hog and sign a striker from a Sunday League pub team. Then give him 7 months off while he gets rid of his beer gut and learns how to shoot. Got to be better than the names being thrown about just now!

Agree0 Disagree0

So we have signed him have we?

Bid of an odd post as every quote from AW states we aren't in for another forward,

Ha ha nearly as nad as when Everton got James McFaden back

whatever that means

No u offered him 12 month contract banbury and i'm everton fan and what I mean is mcfaden terrible free transfer so would zigic

Zigic. bravo wenger, bravo. I couldn't have guessed that LOW.

Seeing as everyone is a bit glum I thought we could all enjoy taking the Mickey out of Manchester United currently. I'm not a bit twitter fan but there is a hashtag with:

#thingsbetterthanmanchesterunited

Current favourites include:

1) White crayons
2) Pulling your fingernail too far down one side
3) Stepping on a plug
4) Pouring out a bowl of cereal before realising there's no milk.
5) Malky Mackays current job prospects.

Anyone got something that is better than Utd? Prizes for the best one!

Was just thinking how precarious this season really is for some teams. We have just lost Ollie G but could have happened a week after transfer window closed, at least we have a chance to put it right. G95 listed the strikers from other top teams. If Chelski lost Costa for large chunks of season would Drogba and Torres win the title - No in my opinion. If Liverpool lost Sturridge would Lambert and Balotelli win it for them - again No! Man U could lose Van Persie or Rooney but still as a team are not good enough. City though have four top notch strikers - who get the goals after all - and could lose two of them and others could still win the title. So City best equipped if worst happened. That is where we should be so need at least two strikers - Remy and Bony anyone? Assuming no Cavani!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Good point

Even without injury to Giroud, we still didn't have a strike force to win us the league. Sorry if it seems harsh, but it's true

Is all the talk of Zigic any way accurate or just an opportunistic agent getting his clients name out there. If true why can arsenal build one of the best midfields in the clubs history spending a lot of money in the process (although needs a quality DM) and not have someone of equal quality to put the ball in the net. Giroud is not the answer either he is far to slow and he had four good chances at goodison last weekend and only got one. If the same chances fell to Cavanni or Falcao the return would have been better.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I totally agree there. Am glad to see someone who is able to call it as it is. Giroud misses far too many chances

David Ornstein decent source for all things Arsenal has come out and said we won't be signing a striker.

Usually he is a good source, but since this news only broke late last night I don't know how any journalist would know what wenger and the Arsenal board are planning. It is probably only being discussed today.

So i'm going to call Bullsh*t on that one. I still believe that the most important position we need to fill is DM, as is said before it wasnt a striker that let us concede 20 goals away to Liverpool, city, chelski and Everton. If we don't sign one of quality, all we can hope for this season is another cup.

After watching the Everton game, I think its an absolute disgrace, that ozil has to push wide left just to accomadate jack, its the same thing city had to do with Aguero and Balotelli . don't get me wrong I like jack, but when he plays with Ramsey it really does make a dogs dinner of our formation.

He should be only used as a direct replacement for ozil or ramsey and played through the middle and leave the wings to ox, walcott, sanchez etc.

I suggest all Arsenal fans not to google 'arsenal transfer news' as the striker for today is Nikola zigic! Maybe we should have listened to dags and bought Remy earlier in the window and save us these tense days! 😃

Is Remy really a bad move? Personally I think the guy is a decent addition to the squad and would prefer him to come in rather than any other names being touted.
He managed to bang in 14 at Newcastle - with a much more creative midfield at Arsenal he could be a very smart buy at £8m. Him and Podolski can alternate and Wenger can bring through Sanogoal without putting too much pressure on the lad. let's hope we get the deal done tomorrow morning, after we win tonight!

Wenger will never pay the extortionate fees for Falcao so forget that one!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It wasn't so long ago that people were saying, "Wenger won't spend over £15-£20m on one player!"

Seems he's done that a couple of times now.

Never say never with Wenger! It's unlikely sure, but not beyond the realms of possibility!

Agree0 Disagree0

I am starting to see Dags point of view in that Remy surely would give the best Bang per buck ratio of any available striker. Trouble is, comments coming from the most important man in the equation, Mr Wenger, seems to suggest he believes we already have enough cover. Show me any other top club who in our situation wouldn't just slash out 10m for Remy without a second consideration? It seems that despite claiming we are back with the big boys someone is still maintaining the small club mentality at AFC? Come on Arsene, prove my fears wrong!

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Aug 2014 11:27:36
I am really nervous about tonight! This is a massive game and I agree with g62, I would take any type of victory. 1-0 after ricocheting in off the ref in the 90th minute!

We just need to get through and then Wenger has 5 days to sign three players. We've all been talking about CB and a DM but with Giroud almost certainly out for a long period of time, we now desperately need a striker.

Oxlaide-Chamberlain to score tonight! He could be the difference!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We have always need a striker Dr. Greeny

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Aug 2014 11:05:06
Lord David Ornstein has spoken.

No striker for AFC (could change as is current understanding) Wenger will make do with current options:
Sanogo,
Podolski,
Sanchez,
Campbell,
Walcott.

Likely to buy a CB/DM squad player rather than big name. Could this mean:
Arteta back sooner than expected?
Chambers going to move to this position?
Wenger is YOLO'ing it

I still think everything hinges on tonights game. Champions Legaue football was the decider for the Ozil deal last time it seems so lets' see what happens after tonight :)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Wenger stated in his press conference that he doesn't NEED a striker as we have several options.

He was also very keen to stress that Artetas injury is only short term. Let's not forget we have an international break, after which, Gibbs and Arteta will be available. Koscielnys Achilles injury will have healed and Mertesacker (who has recently quit internationals) will be fitter from training.

I wouldn't be surprised if Wenger brought no-one in!

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree Greeny, I cannot see us buying another striker

A thought ahead of the game tonight; Ramsay being injured presents Wenger with an opportunity to play Wilshere as a box to box midfielder and Ozil as a No10 - essentially the best positions for both players. I'm not JW's biggest fan but I can sense a great game from him - it'd be sods law that he'll step up to the mark when AR is missing and then revert to type when he returns. I have a feeling JW & AR will be Arsenals equivalent to Fat Lampard and Stevie G - both great players just incapable of playing together.
I'm hopefull Podolski gets a run up top in OG's absence and am quite confident ahead of the match, no doubt it will be tough but I think a 3-1 win to the Arsenal!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Just to clear something up, Ramsey is suspended. We don't want anymore heart attacks :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Ah Banbury apologies, it's typical for it to be an injury for Arsenal so I just went into auto pilot - still, my point(s) are valid I feel.

Anyone want to be first on tonight's prediction?
All I'm going to say is I want us to win.
I'm dreading this one to be honest. Probably because we have had what I would call 2 blows to our team in really important positions ie left back and striker where in my opinion we really haven't got sufficient cover for. Ok yes I know we have Sanchez who I assume will play as the main striker tonight because I imagine that was Wengers plan for h anyway but! he is still bedding in. Our other alternative to him is too worrying to contemplate. I would like to see the Ox starting tonight as I thought that in the last few games when he has come on the pitch he looked on fire.
Keeping my fingers crossed for a result tonight.

I hope its just nerves mate but I'll be happy to get through, I've been disappointed in our performances so far this season ( not results) I'd take a drab 1 0 with both hands right now.
No Ramsey? Its a big worry but who knows this might be the night Jack decides to remind us he's still a contender and not a pretender.

Danny Welbeck, I'd die of shame if we purchased him or any of the other rubbish stinking out their squad.

They want him out and would pi55 themselves laughing at us if we bought him. Benik Afobe even made him look pants.

Agree0 Disagree0

Robbie we're all entitled to our opinion mate but Danny Welbeck? surely not! He's strictly a uafa cup team player at very best.
He does a job for England sometimes admittedly but that's through lack of options not choice.
I hope we aim much higher than that or save our ammunition

Agree0 Disagree0

If United want rid of Welbeck then why would we want him? He's just a faster version of Sanogo.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Aug 2014 06:49:29
It is clear that Giroud has a long term injury and we need to sign a forward. Sanogo is a young talented player, who needs experience. Podolski never looks comfortable when played in the central forward role. We could try the pace of Sanchez or Walcott (when he is back) or Campbell's combination of pace & industry. However, we really do need a quality replacement for Giroud. We also need at least one defender, ideally two, as Bellerin is nowhere near capable of playing regular first team football and we need a central defensive midfield player. Meanwhile we have too many midfield/attacking midfield options.
I would like to see us sign Micah Richards, Carvalho & Welbeck. We need to sell/loan Miyaichi & Coquelin.
Any news on Abu Diaby? The invisible man!

People can say what they want. LVG put together a team that he was confident with and one he believed would do the job.
Uniteds squad was not full of second rate players they had their arses well and truly handed to them on a plate,
Here us another thing too. If I was a football manager I would be sending my scouts to a few MK Dons games to see if it was just a fluke in the way some if the Dons players performed tonight. Because from what I saw tonight their were a few that could well be Premiership players. Especially Benik Afobe that came on and scored the last 2 goals for them. I know someone at Arsenal that he could fill in for as a back up striker! He looked very sharp. I would be monitoring him again! even though he was with us 4 years ago. Under 21 international too.
