Wenger is very much to blame. BUT please can we offer some focus to the players to? Simply no effort absolutely shocking.

Those who were celebrating loud and proud when Arsene signed his new contract last May should stand by him now! Without their support Arsene wouldn't still be in the job so it's a little previous to turn on him after 3 games.
I wanted change most didn't so we are where we are, but if you really thought Arsene was still the man in May you owe him more than 3 games before jumping ship.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2017 00:45:29
Gunner I disagree with you about most didn't want change, all the polls i saw and all the people i spoke too were all for change. The decision was made between two people in a room and it didn't matter anyway what supporters thought, that obviously any way wasn't even considered and neither was what was best for arsenal football club as regards progress.

I wanted wenger (as you know )
I don't know, what is going on, (as 99.99% of all on here) . Why we are selling defenders.
We seem to be banking every thing on Sanchez staying, paying him massive wages.
I have said I want him out.
But a lot on here, are saying, the club will not show ambition if he goes. (most are
Wenger out)
The ox has turned down 180k, (I'm told it's less then that) but that's a joke, let him go
The hardest part for me was the team we put out. Our two new signings on the bench, and two players that want to leave, just mopping about . Disgracefull.
As for ozil, I'm stunned brilliant but lazy. For me another that needs to go.
We need premiership defenders
I'm on a all time low, as I see lazy overpaid players laughing at our club.
The players for me are to blame.
Stevie R the polls I read said most people wanted him t stay.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2017 09:52:26
Steve prior to playing the beach boys clubs at the end of last season and winning the cup there was a majority of out fans but when push came to shove the vast majority of fans fell back into line and were very much in favour of Arsene staying.
That's what really happened mate.
Not me you Malaga and others but by far the majority were very happy for Arsene to continue, we can't simply keep chopping and changing each week depending on that weeks result.
We should have parted company in 2014 with the cup win against Hull but we didn't and we certainly should have done it after beating Chelsea but again the majority were not up for change and that's exactly what we've got, nothing has changed from how it's been for years now.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2017 10:58:01
Welsh I didn't read one poll that wanted him to stay some were even 80% out but that doesn't matter. You have to be insane not to see the bad job being done at the club.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2017 11:03:02
Gunner it doesn't matter what the supporters do or don't do, for every banner a supporter puts behind a plane or up in the stadium, there are 50,000 who don't, it doesn't mean they didn't want him to go. People did show respect, as some people kept saying, keep quiet, support the team, they did and then Wenger and everybody kept telling us in interviews, it's the minority. You can't win anyway.

Haven't seen Gareth Bale do anything for Madrid, he's looked pretty poor the last few times I've watched him.

That lad looks class and PMSL when I saw we are apparently going to offer his Β£75 million buy out clause.

Yep of course we are.

Sky put up a shocking stat earlier. In 2017 only Sunderland have faced more shots on target than Arsenal in the PL (and they are no longer in it of course) . Factor in how much possession we have that is a horrendous stat meaning when we don't have the ball there is a high probability we will face a shot on target.

Wonder where our problems lie.?

I'm not an arsenal fan. My outside view is this. Wenger has lost the dressing room. It is not his fault. He didn't refuse to spend, he wasn't given the funds. He has steered the club through a tough financial period and apart from last season qualified for ucl. He hasn't lost the whole dressing room. People like Ramsey still seem to want to play for wenger. Your culprits are sanchez ox, ozil. Wenger is still doing what classy managers do and taking the flak for the players shortcomings. If I were an arsenal fan I would be re directing my anger to the over paid prima donnas who don't seem to care about the fans. Wenger has been a good servant to you and turned down some massive jobs to help your club. It's too late now but if I was wenger I would have got rid of sanchez ozil ox and a couple more and started again. you're not in the ucl so you could have concentrated on the league. You may have found it hard to replace the quality of ozil and sanchez but replacing there commitment would be easy. Just look to the stands.

Just resign and put us out of our misery.

I think they are going to need plenty of fuel for them planes, we are in for a long bumpy ride Malaga. Probably the least excited I've ever been going into a season in my life. It's not exciting watching us any more and we are a laughing stock. Thanks Wenger for ruining our arsenal. Not looking forward to all the crap that is coming.

Agree2 Disagree0

27 Aug 2017 22:22:52
A bumpy road that leads to a quicker change of manager is ok by me. The players were almost as shocking as the team selection today.

Some of the players have lost faith in Wenger, they must have, just like a proportion of the fans.

Get behind him for 2 years as the contract is signed? That's a no from me.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Aug 2017 22:41:14
Lads today is just routine stuff for us in recent years, we almost always lose at Stoke and we always get completely stuffed at Anfield, today is part and parcel of no change as will a win at home to Bournemouth be first game back.
Arsene didn't say he would change, he didn't say he would spend spend spend this summer he just said I will carry on for 2 more years and that's exactly what he's doing.
People who were happy to back him last May ( large majority of fans) should back him now because he hasn't changed and he never once said he would be doing so.
Two wins after the international break and people will be talking titles again :-)
It's 2 more years because that's what the majority wanted when push came to shove last May.
Oh and I'm pretty sure Stan and the board didn't send a memo to Arsene before the game saying drop Lacasette and Kol either:-)
It is what it is boys and it is what people wanted when last season ended and we are only 3 games into this season.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2017 00:31:17
Like I said a fee weeks back, the behind close doors meeting between Wenger and cronk and the decision made by them two to give Wenger a new contract for me puts both of them in the same bed and the decision between them was purely for them and not in the best interest of the club. They control what goes on in the club and they take the blame for the way they are bringing this great club down and they are bringing it down. They are both deluded and out of touch with the game as it is today.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2017 02:46:10
If wenger goes and those players continue to under perform, who are you going to blame then? because that is what will happen. You've got a poor crop of personalitis. Also with your style of football you need really good defenders which you haven't got. Wenger deserves some respect, disgraceful. The emergence of man city, spurs and liverpool is not Wenger's fault. He has done well to keep you near the top end of the table with the funds he has had since the new stadium.

It's the raver coming through in his famous Subaru, R. G. I'm cruising in the Subaru in my Hugo boss shell suit and my hair permed like a good Liverpool boy on my way to Stringfellows. I thought our draw was a shambles today but your lot were chasing shadows all afternoon and are going backwards. R. Liverpool fan come in peace. Of course I am happy for the win but you guys don't deserve that. Every team loses but all us fans want is to see is thier team tried at least, playing with passion. At times it looks like the players cannot be bothered and what's worrying is its become a habit, if anything play for yourself, wheres your pride. Its sad to see that as I grow up watching the great Arsenal of Veira, Henry etc and this is just a shambles.

Agree1 Disagree1

27 Aug 2017 21:45:26
I'm a Liverpool fan but also a football fan. I got no issues with Arsenal and if I felt like that just thinking what you guys must be feeling. Hope we both do well this season but in my opinion and this goes for both us and for you, is if a player does not want to play for the club then go. Ed 2 always says that players are transient and life will go on when a player leaves and that's true. The fans pay a great deal of money both on tickets and traveling and don't deserve to watch players giving have arsed performances as effort should be a minimum requirement as a professional footballer.

Agree2 Disagree0

27 Aug 2017 19:54:17
I think I'm done now with Wenger, but its not just him. Serious changes required at every level of the club. The most frustrating thing is not that we lose, and lose badly, but that there seems no evidence that anyone at the club has the slightest clue what to do. The season looks like its going to be a long and miserable one.

27 Aug 2017 19:45:37
Sell all those who want to go. Get top money then spend every penny plus a few million more otherwise we will be looking at top half of the table as acceptable and Europa league as a definite result. The only request I would have is that Arsene does not get veto over final choice and consults heavily before buying.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2017 19:37:13
I'm praying for Xhaka to be dropped now. Nowhere near good enough. Somehow we have three defensive midfielders and none of them good enough (except Coquelin when played alongside Cazorla) .

I sure hope Brozovic is seen as an upgrade on Xhaka. According to Wikipedia he is "usually deployed as a box-to-box midfielder, but is considered to be a versatile midflielder who can perform well anywhere in the midfield". So this trustworthy (sarcasm) source tells me he could just as well replace Ramsey who has in my opinion been far better than Xhaka. We'll have to wait and see. If we even get Brozovic.

Welbeck is another one. What real contribution does he bring to the team? He's a striker who scores 5 goals a season yet keeps on starting. I'd get rid of Walcott in a heartbeat too although at least he can get to double digits. I was glad the Ox turned down 180 k a week because he doesn't deserve even half of it. We seriously wanted to make our makeshift wingback who doesn't even have any real position in the team our biggest earner.

You know sometimes i just think we should pay up the contracts of approximately half of our team and have them released. Then fill their places with kids from the academy. At least they have potential to become good players. Potential is better than nothing. I'm just tired of seeing the same mediocre players play year after year. I'm perhaps a bit of an odd fan since i don't care if we win trophies or not. What i do care about is whether the players give their all and for a while it has seemed like some of the players are settling for far too little. The celebrations at Bournemouth, making top four, beating Spurs. It's not what they should be aiming for. The aim is to play as well as you can and see where it takes you.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2017 19:28:03
Enough is enough, it's very heroic to say that players like sanchez, ozil and Ox are going to be kept and will honour their contracts. However it shows on the pitch that they don't whole heartedly want to be here, whether consciously or not. Sell them and you will no longer be planing your games or future around these players as it affects the here and now!

Ozil doesn't seem to fit in the team as good a player as he can be, our style of play or the EPL doesn't suit him. Replace him with a strong defensive midfield or strong box to box midfielder, this wouldn't have to been a red carpet style of player, just a hard worker. Look at kante, ndidi or can.

As for the ox if we want a player who shows glimpses of potential play Campbell or Theo. It would be painful to sell sanchez to city or another rival but if we can find an alternative and with a scouting system such as ours this shouldn't be difficult or just play 2 upfront (giroud and lacazette) .

I just find it shocking what arsene thinks.

Kolasanic on the bench, plays bellerin lwb.

xhaka in midfield, guy can't move or tackle.

Ozil on the pitch, he does nothing again.

Ramsey in a 2 in midfield, if ramseys playing he needs to be playing in a 3 man midfield.

Chamberlain at rwb, he can't defend.

Welbeck up top instead of lacazette.

Brings lacazette on and plays him left wing.

Keeps xhaka and ozil on the pitch.

Look at all those points all from one game, absosulutely disgraceful.

Ramsey and play 2 cdms. Xhaka and Coquelin (although they need better ones) . I actually can't bare to watch Ozil anymore. Off the ball he's lazy. Too many players didn't put in the effort required Xhaka, Ozil and The Ox were dreadful. I say sell Ozil and The Ox. I don't care who they get in I just don't want their poor attitude to infect other players. Xhaka next if he doesn't get his act together.

We won well today but I'm sure Arsenal will be back (just not too quickly) . Seriously though I was saying to someone I can't remember seeing Arsenal playing so badly in a very long time. Today was the last straw. Best players on bench, to many starters played out of position. Our team obviously has no respect for the manager. And worst of all nobody and I mean nobody at the club cares about the supporters. Let the players go that don't want to be here. Sack the manager. Stan sell the club to someone who cares about football. I really can't see the point in posting any more on this sight as I am only venting my feeling to like minded people and the people who should take notice don't give a fig for our feelings. As I have said before I am 73 and have always supported The Arsenal and in that time I have seen some really bad teams and performances. Today was embarrassing on so many levels. Thank you Mr Wenger for all you have done for our club, but please go now, because if you stay things will only get worse and both you and us don't deserve it. Thank you and goodbye. COYG.

27 Aug 2017 18:20:20
Fortuantely I am away and missed watching the match. However, the moment I saw the team selected I knew we were in big trouble. The selction in th previous match against Stolke was terrible. Presumably Gabriel and Mustafi voiced their opinion and hence Wenger has sold one and will possibly sell the other. I was castigated by fellow fans on this site for repeating the same faults and solutions. Before 2004 Wengers selections and tactics made sense, since then I fail to understand him. We have reverted to playing a high defensive line with players out of position and odd selections. All that saved Wenger was continual CL qualification and 3 FA Cups. He needs to go and I would entice Rafa Benitez to leave Newcastle and bring some defensive sense to the team. I said before this match that if we played a back 3, it should be Mustafi, Merte and Kos, with Bellerin at RWB and Kolasinac at LWB, with Coquelin and Xhaka played as the DM pairing. We had to defend deep and protect the back three. Some fans might disagree with some of my selections, they may prefer Monreal to Kolasinac or Oxlade to Bellerin, but overall the vast mahjority would agree in principal to my selection. We have entered the season with only some deadwood moved on, others who have been around far too long have remained. We have allowed the contracts of 3 players in particular to run down, when at 2 years to run they should have been signed up or moved on and replaced. We have extended the deals of Cazorla and Mertesacker for no apparent reason. I can make little sense of anything Wenger is doing and the press comments he has made recently beggar belief, such as it is an ideal situation to have players in the last year of their deals. Its time for Wenger to go, before any more damage occurs.

Get the basic spine right

Then Lacazette & Sanchez as front two

Ozil in the hole and a bloody disciplined two central midfielders

I am so annoyed and disengaged with the team and for the first season the manager.

ive never been a wenger out guy, but i seriously think wenger has lost the dressing room i don't think he will last until christmas.

But seriously Wenger needs to go. The team is disjointed and lacks a leader they aren't motivated anyomre that's why none of them wants to sign a new contract. If the board don't sack Wenger after this game then i'm sorry it's downhill from here on.

It's nice to see all the things they did in the summer to make sure we challenge again and move forward are working.

27 Aug 2017 17:41:31
What would be the point in sacking Arsene now? Not that it's going happen anyway but if it did it's to late for anyone else to change this season now.
Keep calm and think Europa league, it's the only way.
Defeat at Stoke embarrassed at Liverpool, it's hardly new is it.
The team will rally and we will finish 5th or extremely close to it.

Gunner don't put any money on anything you have just said. You won't get rich. Lol.

27 Aug 2017 18:13:58
Top 7 for sure Steve and most likely 5th rather than 7th.
Absolutely nothing new or different about this season so far that gives me reason to think differently mate.
Beat liecester at home lose to Stoke away and get thrashed by Liverpool at Anfield, absolutely no reason to think we will have any better or worse season than usual mate.
All pretty standard and very predictable stuff so far I'd say.

What is wenger doing playing a back 3 then bellerin left wing back. surely a back four .

Believable2 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2017 17:28:58
It wouldn't matter what players or what formation, it's just rotten to the core. Wenger hasn't got a clue.

27 Aug 2017 17:04:47
No laca and a rwb at lwb again.
Wengers arrogance is comical at times. Maybe you can understand the occasion demands laca to come of the bench but play a rwb at lwb when you have a kola on the bench seems laughable to me.

If any one on here happens to know a guy that knows a guy who knows arsene wenger please pass on the message that playing 3 at the back with the team we currently have isn't going to work, our defence is cr@p. And also give welbeck a few more shooting drills in training over the next couple of weeks No way a striker should shoot like that almost every time he has a shot on goal.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2017 17:30:35
Our defence is crap even if we play ten at the back.

This is it, love arsenal but totally fed up with the direction we're going, he has got to go it's an embarrassment, what is lacazette thinking on the bench or Sanchez on the pitch? Embarassing.

Beefey boy ., it's called hard times mate it's here and we're not used to it. Look at city, Chelsea, united, Liverpool and spurs all had plenty of years like this . United last 4 have been horrible. It's our turn now and even though we haven't hit the dizzy heights of united we have not had the seasons they have had! But that times here and I'm lost for ideas. Scary times ahead.

Mustafi on bench, with monreal at center back, seems mustafi is off.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - He is playing for Oxlade-Chamberlain (who will join Liverpool at half time and play for them in the second half).}

Hope he takes the rest with him too Ed, then we might have a chance in the second half:-)

No Lacasette no Kol in our biggest test yet?
Arsene not happy with his new boys or trying to keep the regulars all happy?
On the face of it seems a strange decision but if we win or don't get beat then he will have got it right.
Lose and I think questions will asked in the house.

I think too 7 will be available for many months yet Steve mate regardless of today's result.
I'd expect a break away pack of 3 to 5 teams to be established by mid October and we'd be doing extremely well if we're in that pack then.

Jose is often annoying but sometimes right :

"Is Vardy a very dangerous player? I would say one of the most dangerous players in the Premier League," he told his post-match press conference.

"Was he dangerous today? No.

"[Were] Leicester very dangerous against Arsenal? Yes they were.

"I watched the match three times. Were they dangerous against us? No.

"Why? Because of us."

Annoyingly correct - hopefully Wenger does something about this as a leaky defence wins nothing

Let's see what's been learned in today's game, a clean sheet against Liverpool would be impressive.
A 1 0 to the Arsenal would be brilliant but 0 0 would be a very good result for us at Anfield where we usually conceed for fun.
My personal guess is a 5 2 defeat but I'm extremely open to being proven wrong.

If Mustafi departs I would like to see us sign Van Dijk and Smalling, to add much needed height and physicality to the back three. Koscielny alongside these two would look formidable and we can use Holding, Chambers and Mertssacker as cover. With Ox likely to go we need cover at RB, unless Chambers can step up and cover for Bellerin. When he came to the club he was playing at RB and looked useful, he then declined, but as he matures, possibly he could revert to playing in this position.
