Im thinking of purchasing a red membership, will i be able to purchase multiple tickets for a game, if so does the other person(s) have to also be members
Thanks, CheshireGooner

Believable4 Unbelievable2

You will be able to buy one ticket per membership mate it sucks.

Agree5 Disagree3

When games don't sell out within a week of going to Red Members, you can buy Friends & Family tickets, which I think allows you to buy up to 4 seats for non-members.

Stezza.

Agree3 Disagree0

Wrong, on occassions you will be eligible to buy up to 4 on some games, but for most games only 1 but you can always purchase 2 memberships as a safe guard.

Any games worth going traveling to it will be 1 per member.

All games are worth going to if your a real fan off your club

You can network your membership card with others allowing you to buy tickets for others and them for you.

Chelsea fan here but just curious to know. Would you rather have Lukaku, Bertrand, Piazon and Ake (our youngsters) or Gervinho, Chamakh, Santos and Squillaci (Your squad players).
Just curious is all, not looking to pick fights.
Hope to see you thrash Bayern, just be careful about giving Gomez chances, he will eventually get one right against an english club!
CFCFOREVER!

Believable10 Unbelievable4

You're youngsters are definitely better

Agree4 Disagree1

Obviously your youngster, none of the players you meantioned of ours bring anything to the team, except maybe gervinho who has 1 good game in 10.

Agree4 Disagree1

Lukaku is quality, Bertrand is good, Piazon looks decent but I don't really know Ake.

Gervinho is class on his day, but mostly extremely wasteful and lacks the final ball. Chamakh used to be good but that's like 3 years ago, Santos can't defend at all and same with Squillaci, really don't know what happened with him since his plied his trade Sevilla.

I would swap your youngsters for our deadwood anytime, I would even swap this Ake guy who I don't know for Santos and Squillaci - absolutely useless.

Agree5 Disagree3

Chelsea fan, I respect you taking the time to find our board, but silly questions are still silly questions!

Gunners4Life, In AW we trust!

Agree3 Disagree1

Shouldn't you compare youngsters with youngster and squad players with squad players?

Agree4 Disagree0

I rate the Chelsea players you mentioned (Chalobah is another who I think has big potential) but it's silly to compare them to older, burnt-out failures..

I'd rather have OUR youngsters: Akpom, Gnabry, Eisfeld, Meade, Yennaris, Chamberlain, Jenkinson, Toral, Olsson, Jebb, Ebicilio, Martinez, Lipman.

Stezza.

Agree8 Disagree0

Hmmmm...

thats not a very a fair question imo.

You picked your best youngsters against (with an exception - Gervinho, Santos are just devoid of form at the moment) our 'worst' squad players

Lemme try the same:
Eisfeld, Gnarby, Angha, Yennaris
VS
Ferreira, Turnbull, ....Essien (i like Es...but he's past it :( )

though I must admit your A-squad doesnt have as much flops in there

ASyD

Agree5 Disagree1

You've picked our worst squad players.... if you had said Giroud, Rosicky, Jenkinson, Koscielny

I know which one i'd pick....

Agree0 Disagree1

Just a casual question guys, it comes after my friend (who claims to be an Arsenal fan) said he'd rather have your "deadwood" than our youngsters. Don't know much about your youngsters other than Einsfeld (Quality) and Gnabry (Has potential) and the couple on loan e.g. Miyachi (Who is apparently injured), Watt (Who is useless) and Denilson (Who just seems to have disappeared!). Anyone I should particularly be looking out for? Let me know please!

would love us to go back to a 4-4-2 we have the personnel to do it all we need is a big powerhouse in the middle to boss the midfield and replace any players leaving like for like i.e chamakh-ba......arshavin-zaha......squillaci-m'biwa.......santos-shaw
would be good to see
shez.
.
sagna.per.verminator.gibbs.
.
.ox.(wanyamma/diame).wilshere.podolski.

giroud.walcott.

with the invincible's the whole midfield was over 6ft strong and powerful but at the moment we have arteta, wilshere, cazorla who are about 5'7-5'8 and none could be labeled as powerful I just think we could do with this system...the same system that we won the majority of titles with.

Baz136.

Believable11 Unbelievable5

Arteta and Cazorla along with Jack are the heart of our team.

Agree9 Disagree2

Yes they are but could you just remind me what position we are in at the moment and also why cazorla was walking most of the game at wigan? its called having a plan B and rotating your squad something arsene wenger is completely inept at!

Agree10 Disagree1

So you want to have Arteta and Cazorla on the bench?

The man with the most passes completed and highest pass completion rate in the prem (Arteta)

and the man whos created more chances than any other player in the prem?

You must be maaaaaaadd, What you smoking?

R.O.B

Agree2 Disagree0

The current squad and setup of the way we play cannot adapt to a rigid 4-4-2. to have to switch to a different playing style would ruin the whole Arteta-Wilshere-Cazorla axis thing we've finally got working in the middle. not to mention our wide players now becoming useless thanks to added defensive duties that they can barely manage now as it is.

only person to benefit here would be Giroud and possibly Walcott (who, lets face it, won't be staying on much longer).

the term 'moot point' springs to mind.

psychocyst.

Agree0 Disagree1

No not at all just that 4-3-3 doesn't work against every team so its good to be able to mix it if we can't break a team down with plan A :/

No No No, enough is enough. I can't bare these pathetic rumours anymore. People get a grip, players like demba ba and diame are not the type of players we should be looking at. We need to get this terrible attitude that signing mid table players is acceptable. I hate him as much as the next guy, but no mater how u feel, Robin van Persie is a world class player that hasn't been replaced. A proven striker is needed to mend the wound that Judas has created. I am looking forward to January, as this will separate the men from the boys and really test Wenger's stubornes to the full. Face it people, Walcott's good, not world class, and I for one don't really care whether or not he signs a new contract. Rant over. CheetahChaz97

Believable18 Unbelievable5

And who is this world class striker?

Not many can match RVP. And not many will join us in our current state. If we compete for title maybe in the summer we can attract world class striker but in january it is so unlikely.

Agree7 Disagree0

We have NEVER EVER bought world class - we have ALWAYS bought good players and moulded them into world class....

Do I even need to make the list. The bulk of our invincibles were based on this policy. We are not Real Madrid / City / Cheslea / PSG (groups of talented players).

We are strongly based on a TEAM (sum of the parts, et all).

So no we won't sign Cavani / Falcao. But we never would have. Players liek Adrian Lopez, etc. are much more in line with how we have always bought players.

My local club is considering a move for gervinho. Costing them only a box of water bottles as the set price tag by wenger. Odd fella ain't he

Believable7 Unbelievable1

You, sir, are a liar and a thief.
no football club in their right sense would be considering Gervinho right now and your statement is a blatant lie. if, however, it is true, then i assume you plan to have this move succeed at such high a price so that you may take your cut of half the bottles of water in said box.

ruining your local sporting club for a few bottles of water? for shame, sir. for shame!

I was just wondering realistically who people on here want arsenal to sign in January, or what areas are for you are most important to strengthen. Also if there are any players that we have been linked with that people really don't think we should sign?

For me we need to sign a defensive midfielder, I know we've been linked with Diame and M'vila but many would prefer Capoue or Wanyama, but I must admit I really haven't seen enough of any of these players to say which I would prefer, Diame seems most affordable with the release clause but I was impressed with Wanyama in champions league and Capoue in the brief highlights I've seen. But I think this is key area to strengthen.

I think we also need both a proper winger and a proper striker with one in january and the other coming in the summer, the fact we have played a few games where we've looked like we wont score or haven't makes me lean more to striker. I personally think if you look at the squad we have too many players who can play both positions or want to play upfront rather than one position really well. I realise we have the option of Podolski upfront but Wenger doesn't seem to like to do that, not sure what to make of Walcott there yet and there are contract issues, Gervinho is useless everywhere, Chamakh never plays leaving Giroud as our only out and out striker. Most of these are also our wingers as well hence me saying we need to get real a winger as well. I know we've been linked with Huntelaar but that's a no go and now Demba Ba, but I'm not sure how I feel about that, transfer fee maybe small but agent fees and wages could make this an expensive move. Personally I would like Lewandowski although I doubt it is possible or if he would move in January though I would be happy to wait till the summer, rumours he will join or has agreed to join United in press but some German journalists saying all agent talk.

And the player I think we should avoid sadly looks likely, Adrian Lopez, don't get me wrong good player but he is another one of these strikers who can also play on the wing as he does for Madrid and likely would for us and I feel we have enough of these players in the squad.

Interested to see what others think

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Quality post. for me it's a dm as well. or not necessarily a dm but a midfielder with size. you can see with diaby in the team the midfield was good with and without the ball. my favorite is fellaini, too bad it's unrealistic. although i'd love us to try everton's resolve with a 30m bid (he's worth every penny). diame or wanyama are more likely and i'd take one of them.

not sure about a proper winger. we don't simply do that. we've always had "central" players wide to help midfield keep the ball. although having a winger in the team would provide a solid plan b so maybe.

if theo stays we don't need a striker.

imo we shouldn't rush now. it's january and prices go higher than in the summer. if we sign a midfielder and keep theo i'm satisfied. this team has a good chance to finish in the top 4 but winning the league is very unlikely so why not save the money till the summer and then strengthen properly?

"Realistically"... I don't like this word associated to our transfer ambitions... But I think that if the board decides to invest I'd go for Isco, which could go because of Malaga's financial situation, and for Strootman or Biglia. If we could get N'Koulou I'd also be really glad as he's better than Mertesacker IMO. A goalkeeper, why not but I don't know who (I like Josh Vickers he reminds me of a Lloris... but is still a bit green...) and I'm getting less and less realistic there. The players I'm talking about are all a bit upon what we're used to pay but still affordable I guess.

1. VORM, MIGNOLET or BEGOVIC

We need a goalkeeper to rival Szczesny for his position. With 50-60 games a season we can rotate 2 quality keepers. Most clubs have 3. Spurs have 4.

2. LEIGHTON BAINES

No brainer for me. He is absolute quality, defensively and going forward. Proven premiership quality.

3. MIDFIELD

We're ok for now! We dominate possession in most matches especially if we play our 5 most technical midfielders:

OX, CAZORLA, ARTETA, WILSHERE, ROSICKY.

And with Coquelin, Diaby and Podolski thats not bad back up at all!

Sell Gervinho - Please!!
Loan out Ramsey - he's not ready yet.

If an addition is to be made go for
LUIS GUSTAVO. Very solid player and out of favour at Bayern.

4. STRIKERS

WALCOTT, GIROUD, PODOLSKI
Three very good strikers on their day. I'd rotate them.
Whoever is on form plays!
With that midfield behind you, you will get chances.

Demba Ba? Villa? Lopez? Etc
Will any of them do better than the 3 we have? Maybe they will. I think it depends on Theo's contract situation. If he re-signs, brilliant! If he doesn't sell him and replace him.

In conclusion:

VORM, MIGNOLET or BEGOVIC
LEIGHTON BAINES
LUIS GUSTAVO
WALCOTT or a replacement.

That's not unreasonable, we could afford all of them.

Believable17 Unbelievable2

Great but Walcott is never gonna be a top striker....

Agree5 Disagree12

1. Not going to happen. Wenger will not stunt the progression of Scezza. the keepers you have suggested all play first team football for their clubs they would not want to play second fiddle to a young goalkeeper. A better shout would be Paul Robinson. Experienced ex international who probably would not mind playing the support role.

2. Not going to happen. Same reason as above. Gibbs is performing well enough and will only get better as he gets stronger. I can only see wenger fast tracking the progression of Mead through the acadamy.

3. A player like Gustavo is paramount. Arteta is performing admirably but his age is catching up with him and he sometimes strugles to play back to back games. Biglia or Strootman would be ideal but perhaps a return for Denilson is warranted considering he has been fulfilling this role for Sao Paolo to great affect. However we also need another box to box midfielder. Diaby's career looks to be over and jack is the only other pleyer of that mould we have at the club, but there is not may players of real quality to match up to Jack, DeRossi, Scwienstieger will never choose to come to Arsenal knowing they would be competing with Jack, Inler from Napoli maybe a good shout or possibly Melo from Galatasaray.

4. Giroud is our only out and out striker. Theo is a wide forward and will probably be leaving. Podolski has always been a leftsided forward and only utilised in a central role last season by Cologne. You never know, Wenger my convert Podolski to an out and out forward like he did with Henry and RVP. A central striker to rival Giroud, maybe even 2 would be better. As for who these might be, god only knows.

Additionally, We also need another right back. Sagna will almost definately be leaving. Jenkinson is good but would be nice if we could get a player with great quality to help bring along his development. An out and out winger is also needed. Zaha looks most plausible and hopefully the rumours are true and the deal is done.

My conclusion:

GK - Needed
RB - Needed
LB - No real need
CB - No Real need
DM/HM - Needed
Conventional M - Needed
W - Needed
CF Needed X2 (even if Theo decides to stay)

The balance of the team is slowly starting to take shape. Any transfers made will be done with great caution not to undo the development of the younger players growing at the club. Yes its frustrating but if the correct "exceptional" players are bought then the future will look a hell of a lot rosier.

Naz

Agree2 Disagree12

If you want us to win trophys we must have a stronger squad!

Is Szcsesny + Vorm/Mignolet/Begovic
Better than Szczesny + Flappyhandski/Mannone?
Paul Robinson would hardly signal any ambition would he, we turned him down 10 years ago.

Barcelona rotate their two goalies. One gets la liga and champs league then the other the two cup competitions then if one gets injured its no biggie you have back up

And we've just been told we are in a strong financial position now compared to previous years.

Why buy a young back up just like we have for the last 8 years. Buy someone who would improve our team. Baines would improve our team.

Healthy competition doesnt seem to be an issue at either of the Manchester clubs.

I love Gibbs, I'm not saying get rid of him at all but for now Leighton Baines would be a big improvement in that position, especially if you assume Gibbs gets injured again and we have Andre Santos there¦

Then Gibbs could cover left back or even get some playing time in midfield. Imagine Gibbs and Baines together covering the left wing when we're defending a lead. You could even play him left wing in front of Gibbs. They're both versatile enough.

Teams like chelsea and man city buy all the players we were interested in but couldnt afford (wages wise). But when these teams replace those players with the falcaos and cavanis of modern football and those initial targets end up on the scrap heap or being rotated to ****. Players i would love to have at arsenal.

like;

Lukaka (personally think hes a beast but isnt going anywhre at chelski) Marin, Sturridge, Dejko the geko, sinclair.

ha! yeh maybe not sturridge or sinclair but seriously you hear about young players like isco and el sharawy who would be a perfect fit for arsenal and have been linked in the past. It just would be a shame if they messed up all their careers by not comming to us lol

Believable7 Unbelievable3

Lukaku is 19. He is on a loan spell playing regularly for WBA. How in the world have you got he is going nowhere from that?

Marin has been injured for the majority of the season, so whether he was at Chelsea or a club like yourselves and QPR, it wouldn't matter. He wouldn't be getting games.

Sturridge, once again has been injured alot, and has shown on numerous occasions, when given the chance that he is far too selfish.

Sinclair had the choice of playing week in week out for the love of the sport and a decent paycheck every week, or sit on the pine and get paid plenty. He chose the latter. Says more about him, then it does about Citeh.

As for players 'messing up their careers by not coming to us', tell me how in the world you have come to that conclusion. Most players, play to win trophies. Using this well known logic, any player that goes to Arsenal would be messing up their careers. You are not a powerhouse on the pitch, don't worry about off it. Players know if they go to arsenal they can play some attractive football and qualify for CL. That is as far as their career will go with you lot. Then when they get bored on consistently failing, they turn to the big boys in the world to bolster their cabinets. Eg. Fabregas, Nasri, RVP, Clichy. All came to your club young and left with nothing. Since leaving every one of them has gone on to bigger things. Tell me how anyone of these players has messed up their careers by leaving you lot? Get a grip mate, Sahin even chose Liverpool over you lot, says it all really.

Eagerly awaiting your response

Melbourne CFC

Agree4 Disagree5

Haha first of all its my opinion nothing more.
My point being self evident but ill spell it out for you. Oil rich teams like Chelski and Citeh have a tendancy of ruining the careers of players like;
Nasri
Ballotelli
Lukaka ( Where on earth is he going to be if torres, falcao (if the rumours are true), hazard, oscar, mata and moses are playing. (Not to mention the rumours of theo joining up to!)
josh mcechren (forgive the spelling)
scot sinclair
jack rodwell
dan sturridge
ryan bertrand

not to mention all the other young players not even given a chance at those clubs.

i understand that oscar and hazard for instance are young and will not have their careers ruined but the young players that your academys have brought in will never get a look in.

That is the niche that Arsenal and Wenger has over all the other teams. I can only hope more young players like the ox can see that Arsenal is the best option for them.

andre rio {Ed002's Note - You need to understand that only 11 players can start a game and others may be used on the bench, may be sent on loan for experience or may form part of a squad. Frimpong and Miyaichi are out on loan, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Jenkinson hardly start every game.}

Agree2 Disagree1

Oh and have a word with your lot about that horrible champions of europe song you guys sing its getting old..... and inaccurate ;)

andre rio

Agree4 Disagree1

Ed002 put it pretty well. To add my spin: these are players in a squad, which compete on multiple fronts. All young and some were bought solely as raw talents to develop over time (Lukaku). Mentioning Josh Mc, Sturridge, Bertrand in the same bracket as Nasri, Sinclair, Ballotelli, Rodwell and Moses is just silly. The aforementioned were brought into academies, to develope at very young ages (14-18), while the latter were bought to play first team football regularly, and rotated through a squad.

I would have to argue while you claim those careers are currently being wasted, I think the majority would beg to differ. Nasri and Ballotelli have league winners medals. Bertrand a CL winners medal. Sturridge has been given exposer on the European stage. Rodwell, Sinclaire and Moses were bought to add to squad depth, and although Rodwell has had limited opportunites he is in a team making a title push. As is Sinclair. Moses I would think would be rapped with the amount of minutes he is getting, in a team aiming for cup and title success, rather than battling relgation. Ballotelli is his own worse nightmare, and Nasri is being used as he was intended, rotating in and out of a PL title winning squad dependant on who Mancini decides upon any day.

The real youngsters like Josh and Romelu are out of loan to gain minutes. As the Chelsea squad was invested heavily on, during the summer, so have attained more experienced players in the squad. It was decided they would be better suited at different teams for the year. Both are currently getting good minutes, playing well on a consistent basis, and developing well. As was intended by those that decided to send them out.

Arsenal does not have a "niche" on playing young players. Liverpool have Sterling. An 18yo kid, that just signed his first professional contract and is playing regular for a regation battling team. Luke Shaw, an 18yo kid is playing regurarly for Southampton. Ross Barkley, a 19yo kid is beginning to see minutes at Everton. Nathan Ake a 17yo got minutes in his first PL game for Chelsea against Norwich. This is just four different clubs, and four different plays that are getting a look in. Their are many others.

I know the argument for Arsenal over the past decade has been they develop youth extremely well. Where has it gotten Arsenal? No success of any kind in 7(?) years. And the youth that has been developed, some have gained actual success at others clubs. From Nasri and Clichy, to Fabregas, and RVP this year. Even Thiery has won silverware since leaving Arsenal. Get a grip guys, your a feeder club. Dont be surprised while your glad Ox is getting game time, Chelsea and City are glad they have options like Marin and Nasri on their bench. This has become very much a rant so I wont even go into the fact Ox wasn't an Arsenal academy player.

Goodluck for the season, you should atleast get Europa League next year. If only you could win the Champions League....

Every point Melbourne has made is absolutely correct. Don't understand the disagrees. As for ruining careers there are plenty at arsenal who stagnated/got worse/went nowhere, many of which are still here.

Melbourne made a lot of good points, but at the end of the day, the history of a football club is just as important as its future, and Arsenal FC has a very proud history, a history that Chelsea fans can be jealous of.

No surprise chelsea fans are delighted that they have an owner that is also a fan, and so buys the best players available to him..but it wont last forever will it.

Lucas Piazon is an academy player (homegrown), and is with the senior team getting decent game time at 18. Lukaku was bought for the future and is developing as expected, should be back sooner than later. Marin and Sturidge have been injured. Sturidge was vital to our success last season, however we need an upgrade hence selling him. McEachran, Kevin DeBruyne, Kalas, etc are all developing well and shd be back soon with the first team. Moses is another young raw talent who has a place in the first team and is developing. Bertrand is Coles's understudy and is getting decent game time more than Santos. What more do you expect?

The simple question is Arsenal fans, would you rather spend money and win trophies or not and not win anything. I think you'll find many of you chaps calling for Usmanov to buy the full share of the club and to start spending money like Chelsea and City. The simple fact is, is that Arsenal fans are jealous of Chelsea and Cities recent past.
