It always seemed odd that he was so highly thought of when at Celtic yet only Southampton came in for him at a pretty small purchase fee, wasn’t it something like £12 million.

Then now suddenly he’s worth £75 million. Is he really that good or another Dejan Lovren.

If he gets them into the champs league, its money well spent. If not a waste. At least they are investing in an area of weakness for them. Time will tell how it works out.

hes a great buy in my opinion. and I agree with steve should get them champions league and can also play in it.

for me the two best cbs in the league are him and toby.

they have also got keita coming in the summer the clubs doing great business these days.

Liverpool moved quickly and got him unlike us who'll wait till Jan 31st for a bargain.

I have been watching Inigo Martinez recently, despite his relatively small stature he looks an excellent CD (and LB cover). I know he has been linked with Man City, but someone should snap him up, i can't see him staying at Real Sociadad for much longer, and i believe he has a buy-out clause in Spain for around 32m, which appears a bargain based on current transfer fees being paid.

Liverpool are obviously spending the coutini money that will be winging their way.

Hearing Jose moan about not being able to compete due to lack of transfer budget makes me laugh - how could we have afforded him or Pep by the way and surely this shows that's teams on financial steroids genuinely have a better chance of winning the league and with the exception of Leicester - the facts support that more money increases the chances of success

Wenger annoys me and hasn't spent wisely but we need to be careful as he has probably over achieved on a consistent basis over the past 10 years more than any of the top 7

I want change but I am careful for what I wish for as the past 10 years could have been far far worse. Top 4 and how many cups?

Merry Christmas and here's to a happy 2018.

I think something like that has been said lots of times. Just like if we had had another manager who could have perhaps took the invicibles to where they should have been, we will never find out. i'm waiting for the day this sleeping giant is actually released and its true potential reached.

Over the past 3 years, Man Utd are the 3rd biggest spender's in the world.

Yet Mourinho still moans.

Maureen was a knee jerk reaction to their rivals getting pep. Probably just a jerk reaction, as it will turn out Dags. He will get overshadowed by pep however much money he spends. He is like wenger, yesterdays child. He won't be a statue outside OT.

Moanio s now feeling how the rest felt when spending fortunes at Chelski and he can't handle it . He must have been spending fortunes as he wasn't moaning about not spending enough there! Stay classy Jose! COYG.

Since Fergie left United have spent £648 million to City’s £637 million, including the 3 most expensive players in Premier League history.

Still some of their deluded fans are trying to make out they are quality and 2 signings away from big things.

Pogba has been a Dog and Lukaku a flat track bully with the 1st touch of a rhino.

Mourinho is one of my favourite clowns along with CoCo and Bozo.

{Ed025's Note - please dont insult clowns stoner..

I still don’t understand be Pogba hype. Sure he’s improved but it wasn’t difficult to do from his previous season. A good player? Yes, anymore than that? No.

JBL I actually think to a degree United fans were responsible for hyping him up so much after he left into a player he’s not, which the press jumped on, and enabled Juventus to get £90 million for what looks like a run of the mill Premier League midfielder.

Interestingly we look to be trying to sign a CB, a replacement for Sanchez and possibly Ozil. Add a DM and I would be a very happy Gooner. Most likely we will sign two players at best.
We are desperately in need of fresh blood at the club and we need to release/ sell the likes of Ospina, Debuchy, Mertesacker, Chambers, Akpom, Campbell, Perez, Coquelin, Elneny and Debuchy.

De Vrij from Lazio is the best available CB around just now. Either on the cheap in Jan if possible or nailed down on a free for the summer. But I suspect he will have options.

I like De Vrij but he's quite slow and could be horrendously exposed by our high defensive line. He also has a few injury issues.

I'd like to see us go for Rugani from Juve.
