just wondering if qpr get relegated would we be able to get samba and cesar at a reasonable price?

Believable2 Unbelievable14

I highly doubt Samba moved all the way from Anzhi to QPR who mathematically are the least likely team to survive the drop, without putting in some sort of clause in his contract. That would make no sense at all not to have done that. I just hope he gains fitness, puts in some solid displays and makes the club sit up - he left the league an absolutely outstanding player and fighter on the pitch, he's been poor since he's come back. I hope he impresses and I hope we sign him.

Agree4 Disagree1

Yhas this got 5 disagrees?

realistic signings already situated in the london area. why wouldn they come to us seeing as samba has been linked several times and we need a keeper?

Agree3 Disagree3

Maybe because Samba is a massively overrated player? I'd be seriously annoyed if we signed him.

mhc

Agree3 Disagree0

I'd heard/read reports that none of the contracts had clauses re relegation and reduced wages. Daft as it seems the way QPR have gone about their business it wouldn't be surprising if this was true. I hope it IS true as when they go down (which I believe they will) they will need to offload big earners fast and cheap. Samba being 1 and Cesar another. Both we would welcome.

Agree1 Disagree0

Samba is rubbish in Goal, my friend.

i was at the game when played the spurs in the league cup semi final replay in 1987.

i remember watching a team of hero's who fought for the badge and the fans.

i remember the atmosphere especially at the final whistle the stewards could not get us out of the ground.

great memory's

eie

Believable8 Unbelievable2

Charlie it's good to know some of us old codgers are still about. Great night with goals from Allinson and Rocky sealing the win for us. Mind you it would never have gone to a replay nowadays as we would have won the tie under away goals rules - but a magical night nonetheless. Were you there also when we won 5 - 0 in the league in Dec '78? There is NOTHING better than tonking the spurs on their own dung heap!

ed just a suggestion.

why don't you let registered posters posts go straight through.

you can monitor the posts and any messing you can give bans and life time bans if needed.

it may make more people register.

and when is ed002 coming back. {Ed027's Note - to risky, some post contain things that can't be posted, the poster will most likely not know this, also Ed002 won't be coming back any tim soon, he received abuse from people who could'nt be patient, he would'nt want the hassle, and this is'nt the first time it's happend

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ok thanks for a quick reply.

you have done a good job covering for edoo2 who will be a big miss.

its all ways a couple who spoil it for every 1 else.

apparently Arsenal may move for Aston Villa Player Andreas Wiemann in the summer personally I am a big fan of wiemann I think knowing wenger we will go for him instead of Jovetic in the summer

Let me know what you think

Bergkamp5353 {Ed027's Note - Really good players, scores goal for fun when given chances, still young, we need a poacher, have done since Henry left

Is the "agree/disagree" system that much important to you? I'm going to be slated but I'd rather forget about this too simple concept. like or dislike, agree or disagree, if that's all you've got to say then who cares? Better argue. Who agrees? And most important who disagrees? And why?

Stan

Believable2 Unbelievable18

Well I come on here for conversation, so when people hammer disagree and don't say anything, or leave some sarcastic comment instead of airing their view like two adults would, it really annoys me. An agree is self explanatory but I like hearing other people's opinions minus the rudeness. I have actually suggested removing it completely, there are a lot of people in the world who can't disagree without being a pr!ck about it, they're proud to argue and having a feature like that can provide the perfect grounds for arguments to start. When I post it's not to see the agrees/disagrees its to see what people think of the topic I'm discussing. I like being able to do the polls using agree/disagree like the Gnabry/Akpom thing so there's arguments for and against. I don't think we'd miss it if it were removed.

Agree7 Disagree5

Keep it on, shows u the majority thinking on subjects (not that the majority are always right)

Agree2 Disagree0

Well that was an invitation for conversation obviously. I mean posters make this site interesting, Eds make this site interesting, but agrees and disagrees are hardly more than relatively informative. The fact that it is anonymous doesn't help. And a majority one day isn't a majority anymore on the day after (I realized myself that many people are weathercocks, following random ideas spread by stupid medias). So I don't really want it to be removed, but as Metal says, I wouldn't miss it.

Stan

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't think they give an accurate indication as some probably hit "disagree" for the sake of it and because of who made the post.

Agree1 Disagree1

Stan you will find that once a post gets a few agrees or disagrees a lot of people will just go with the majority and keep clicking. Sometimes you get an obviously sensible post from someone with a decent viewpoint and it's like 13 disagrees to 2 agrees. That doesn't seem normal given the content a lot of the time.

Also, posts contain lots of different thing sometimes, there are loads of posts where I agree with 90% of it and disagree with one thing in it. What are you supposed to click then? You see these disagrees and think 'which point are people actually disagreeing with here' and when nobody comments explaining why then it just makes you think again sheep mentality. I think it's a pointless feature, like I say, if it were gone, nobody would miss it. It appears a lot of people are happy to thumb down a post but not bothered enough to add their own slant - I don't understand the purpose of those people.

Agree1 Disagree1

P. s. TMC2 that's exactly right and not a good thing - for example the majority on here felt Moses for £10m wasn't worth a shot, they said he's nowhere near good enough, even though he had Sagna for breakfast twice last season when we lost to Wigan as well and his upturn in form directly coincided with Wigan putting in a final 10 games or so (on top of Moses' other good games) that saw them produce that fantastic form that kept them up. I believe the form was so good that they were a top 5 team if the final 2 months of the league were the only games played. People were all like 'Moses omg no way is he good enough for Arsenal' so what happened? Chelsea signed him and actually despite minimal game time anyone who's watched him this season will tell you he's been fantastic pretty well every time he's played. He hardy ever goes missing in games. So yeah the majority certainly isn't always right!

They also said Sturridge was too greedy and not worth the punt- imagine how improved our attack would be with Sturridge in it! He is a complete striker. Greediness can be coached out of a player but you can't coach them to run faster. Sturridge has pace, skill, some trickery, touch, makes great runs, has shown at Liverpool his link up play can be amazing and he can be a team player - I really got the feeling at Chelsea his chances were so few and far between and so much pressure that he tried too hard to impress and failed - bit like the Ox this season. But he got his January move, he's a happier man and his football speaks for itself, he's been outstanding for Liverpool.

So it's actually totally meaningless when people totally agree or disagree with something because it doesn't make the majority right. What counts is opinions. Just like we all know Wenger isn't the man to take us forward any more but the majority think he is haha.

Good to read on Arsenal site that they've announced a staue of Bergkamp to join Henry, Adams and Chapman. About time and hopefully its also an omen that he'll rejoin the club in sort of coaching capacity.

Where's the best place for to be stood outside the stadium?
Never liked the placement of Henrys one which always comes across as tucked away by the spirit of highbury picture.

Iv'e also heard that they're also erecting one of Diaby but their worried it might break in half on a windy day.

God gets his statue!!

Now DB10 will always be there to welcome us home.

This is a good day folks.

Believable13 Unbelievable0

Mertsacker was getting one too then they realised that the statue was quicker and had a smaller turning circle, I can confirm the statue will be starting on Sunday.

Thinking about it perhaps they should commission one each of the current back 4, would probably be less static.
Any guess's on when we will start buying new players rather than statues of old ones?

Ed why does Campbell not have a work permit yet? When do you think he'll get one?

SM1996 {Ed027's Note - i really don't know, do we have to pay off the guys who pass it?, he should get one this summer

Believable6 Unbelievable0

Ed do you think there's a chance that we never actually intended for him to have one yet? {Ed027's Note - we apllied for one in the summer, we'll do the same again

27 Feb 2013 02:06:54
It has been well documented that Arsenal are interested in Stevan Jovetic should he become available in the summer. However, my friend who lives is Malaga claims that Atletico Madrid have made him their number one target should the goal machine Radamel Falcao leave the Vicente Calderon. Ed, I was wondering if you have heard this? And can Arsenal compete with a buying club like Atletico? Or shall I say will we compete?

Thanks,

John# {Ed027's Note - The thing wis Athletico is they will use every penny they get from Falcao, we will need CL, and we will need Jovetic to choose us, also i hear if Chelsea go for Falcao, it obviously means the end of Torres, he could return home in a swap deal

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Edoo2 said he's man city bound.

Torres is a spent force, who in their right mind would want him.

To win sunday is better than winning the league, fa cup and champions league!. I've never felt so nervous about sundays game, this is guna make us or break us. youve got every arsenal fan biting there nails becoz if we lose to them lot I don't think our players that aren't english don't no the s. t we get from there fans. COME ON ARSENAL DO SOMETHING FOR YOUR FANS FOR THE 1ST TIME THIS SEASON! J lockwood

listen our season has gone wrong again, and if spurs beat us we look like mugs. off course I want us to win trophys every season but it doesn't happen does it. all we do now is play tott for 4th place every season so don't give it all about the tablets. you going sunday? prob not and if we lose were guna be gunned down by 35000 spurs fans so don't give me that crap who ever slaged me off. j lockwood

Agree2 Disagree1

27 Feb 2013 22:09:52
The bloke is right beating with nothing left to go for than 4th place is a massive game to win the most important game of the season so far. when u can't play well and win against bradford and blackburn that means 75% of the arsenal players ain't bothered if they don't win nothing. wenger knows they ain't guna win the league and champions league and puts out a 1st team that can't beat bradford and a 2nd team against blackburn and lose again. whos the man that doesn't want to win cups. WENGER AND THE BOARD. so don't cry if a fan says beating the sunday is better than winning cups

i would love to see the arrival of a really good/experienced defender just like Brede Hangerland from fulham or chris samba from qpr case they would be both very cheap scince they come from bad clubs but they still are very god players.

Believable1 Unbelievable13

The CB's you mention are no better/very similar to Merts, Big but not the fastest and the turning circle of a truck (sorry per).

Agree8 Disagree1

Samba would be cheap? Are you sure?

Agree4 Disagree1

Would like to see a fully fit Micah Richards in there. Commanding English Centreback. Could be as good as a young Carragher

Agree8 Disagree4

Richards is a right back, and he's not that young anymore

Agree4 Disagree4

Micah Richards plays comfortably at both RB and CB and he's 24 so I'm afraid both of your comments are incorrect.

if we do sign a striker in the summer I wouldn't want david villa, personally i'd prefer lewandowski or even higuain from madrid

Believable17 Unbelievable1

Just a thought. do we really need another striker? we have giroud, podolski I believe should be playing a more central role and instead bring in a good winger, then we also have walcott who wants to play up front too.

i agree with your opinion about lewandowski or higuain over david villa, but I just don't feel like that's the position we need the most help in right now with our defence giving up so many goals.

Agree8 Disagree13

For us to be a challenger we need proven quality. not 1 in 4 game wonder walcott. or Giroud who doesn't fit our game yet.
Signing wingers would be a benefit too. Di Maria would be awesome with lewandowski up top

Agree2 Disagree1

Love to see higuain in an arsenal shirt, he would be finishing atleast half the chances we create for giroud.

Heard he could be available in the summer aswell

Just a little comparison, although not for a minute am I claiming we are as good as Barca.

I saw the Barca / RM game last night and saw that they had the same problem that we suffer from, NO PLAN B. Barca only play one way, the same as we do, however they have better players and all swarm to win the ball back when they lose it.

Last night, Mourinho did a 'tactical' job on them and they were slaughtered. The main difference is that their attacking game is much superior to ours at the moment and with someone like Messi in the side most teams have no choice but to defend.

My point is, AW has never been a tactition, but in the past we have had the players to make a difference, so we need to either buy 2 or 3 world class players, CM, WINGER & A STRIKER, then our defence would not look so poor.

Barca have not really got better defenders than us, Puyol was awful last night and their Full backs are attackers really.

Anyhow, rambling a bit now but I think we need to concentrate on attacking more and sign the players in those positions.

337

Believable12 Unbelievable4

I agree to a certain degree, Barca and Arsenal play that fustrating football that if it comes off it looks like magic but the passes have to be perfect.

Both teams are weak against counter attacks and corners.

Agree6 Disagree1

Perhaps, but this still doesn't account for the fact that when Man U, City, Chelsea or most teams attack us we look a total shambles.

Agree7 Disagree0

Agree with both replies, that's where a plan be should come in but we do not and never will have one under AW, so we either change him or play to our strengths which would mean signing 2 or 3 outstanding attacking players.

337

Agree2 Disagree0

A possible cause for our dull displays is that Wenger counts on the players thinking on their own about what to do on the field instead of drilling down possible options they could utilise. plus, our bunch, no matter what team you pick, just haven't played with each other as a unit so the flowing game won't work as well for a while now. add the crazy pressure and a vapour-thin confidence and we've got a soap opera cast working on the green.

Hello Ed and fellow Gooners, in reply to TMC2, s question where his 27 points would put us in my end of season table, it would still be 4th. Actually TMC2, s prediction of 27 is also my guess. I came up with 8wins and 3 draws, the 3 draws being Manchester United at home and WBA AND Newcastle away. Sundays game I vary depending what sort of mood I am in. At the moment I am in a positive mood, 3-2 to us.
Thanks for the site Ed {Ed013's Note - You are welcome}
