Arsenal are on a media lockdown within the club until the window closes, so don't believe any rumours coming from sources over the next few days. this happened when we brought in mertesacker santos and arteta.

expecting a signing at least. earlier on in the month heard from a good source that we had a 30mill bid for a player, most people would know that anyway.

Maybe it's a big player which is why they'v brought in a lockdown.

Can't see Wenger taking a chance on Diame, after reading about his heart problems. qoute from the wigan chairman
''He unfortunately has the problem with his heart - and that is a serious problem. You have to keep that heart machine within 50 yards of him all the time. We picked him up when Barcelona had refused him because of his heart and we took the chance and brought him over...''

Why would a club take on that much for a player that won't start every game, yes he's a good player but he's not a world beater that would be worth the risk.

A lot of people worried about this transfer window but to be honest the summer is more important. First sell all the deadwood or release them then concentrate on the positions we need to improve. For me we need at least 3 players but tbh I'd want six, seven if sagna goes because for me it's clear we GK, CB, LB, CDM, ST and a winger. If we get the right personnel in those positions we will be a scary opposition to face but to do that is easier said than done.

You'd think that people who follow football should know something about it, yet there are people questioning Giroud and defending Gervinho because he scores against poor quality african teams.
Jeeez.
Ike.

Believable12 Unbelievable1

Well Ike as you know I was prepared to give Gerv some time to settle, as I think it takes any player not built like Drogba time to adjust to the league, but that time has long since gone.

He can go to AFCON and dominate because lets be real, most of those teams are awful, and he is in his element, the fans love him, he can do no wrong, and he knows he an dick on most players with his odd dribbling and his pace.

But here, it's different, and he isn't good enough. I refer to him as headless but not because of his dribbling, but because he doesn't aim before crossing. He can't cross, can't cut back, can't finish, can't volley, can't head - he's like an AWFUL Walcott but with more skill...my overriding thought on that is : ?!

I was taught something in sport that often made the difference between teams that matched us, be it football or rugby, and as a fielder in cricket:
Expect the ball to come to you.

Teaching yourself to do that has a subtle but amazing impact on the number of catches you make/goals you poach/passes you get onto etc. How many times has Gervinho been within 6 yards from goal and missed the ball as though he didn't expect the ball to get to him? That is a mindset thing. Not mentally prepared for that eventuality. It is so sloppy. I wouldn't care if it was one or two in a season but this is a trait...when he's in the box I can barely watch!

There is a world of class between Giroud and Gervinho...

Hi Guys
Who else thinks Wenger has never had any intention of signing any players? Think about it.

At the beginning of the transfer window Arsenal were after 2 players, a striker and a midfielder as confirmed by Wenger. Great, Arsenal fans think we are getting 2 new players. Well, NO in Wenger language this translates as:

1. Walcott signs a new deal. He can play up front more, theirs your striker.

2. Diaby comes back from yet another injury, Wenger says he will be like a new signing (god help us), theirs your midfielder.

And at the end of the transfer window Wengers excuse will be, we couldn't find any top, top, top, top, quality players to improve the squad (yeah for no pennies). Funny that other teams seem to.

Believable7 Unbelievable4

1 thing you just got to remember, what ever he says is BS, he never wants the media or fans to know who their after because that alerts other clubs. he even said to a journo during the week who asked who we were interested in signing, '' I would never tell you that, because you will all find out somehow''

With Benteke being linked as latest rumor, it could be very well a "value for money" signing for Wenger.
He is a top quality no doubt, I will like to see a high profile player signing in to force the team into top 4 - like Arsene did by signing Arshavin earlier.
Arsene knows better - I agree.

Greetings and salutations my fellow Gooners,

Its always nice to buy something new, the question becomes, does it represent value, need or want?

I believe we need a DM (coverage) and a LB (coverage), I believe we want a striker, I also believe if anyone can find value in a purchase it is Arsene.

The club understands the financial implications of not making CL, as such I will trust their judgement with regards to purchases.

However, I am hoping for important changes in the summer as I believe with our strong English nucleus that it is time for us to compete for trophies, not simply 4th place.

For this season our need is to qualify for CL, we want to win a trophy but for myself this upcoming summer and next season will define the club!

I believe Sagna, potentiallly TV5 and all those we could not move during this transfer window will be gone! The slate will be clean, a strong english nucleus, so it will be time to put up or shut up!

Onwards and upwards,

Gunners,

My concerns for January are that we won't buy the players we need and come the summer they will go else where.

Surely if we have a target such as Wanyama does it not make sense to make every effort to get him now, even if we paid somewhat over the odds we should look at it in the long run with his value to us over the following years.

Not pushing the boat out to a degree now and missing the boat as in Champions League qualification would cost us far more. I really don't want us to move further away from the light.

Stoner

Agree10 Disagree2

Precisely Stoner, and then in the summer we will do what was said this year - discover who we might want, deliberate, not bid, then 'wait til Jan'...and so the cycle repeats.

Agree2 Disagree0

Hi Stoner,

I don't believe that the January window is the be all to end all.

Players move based on many factors. Salary, playing time, location of club, the manager, relationship of their agent, relationship with other players, etc.

In addition we know our board and owner love money, as such I am sure they have evaluated the risk parameters with regards to the benefits of purchasing during this window. No major corporation of this magnitude would not do their due diligence, and I expect Arsenal to be no different.

I believe as supporters we are itching for a signing because of our frustration. Its not easy to loose the talent we have while the club continues to profit, however that still does not warrant or justify paying over the top.

I would like to see some reinforcement in the form of signings, if not c'est la vie as I believe we still have enough of a squad to finish in the top 4!

However, I do expect some significant changes during the summer. We have a strong committed english nucleus and some very nice supplementary players (Giroud, Podolski, Carzola) and some young talent on the horizon. As such this summer is make or break time, at least it is for me!

Finally I don't expect the quality we require to be sold during January, some of these rumours are just that, rumours! It very rarely does materialize as clubs are aware of their own circumstances and will have a greater pool of clubs to sell to in the summer!

Always great bantering with you Stoner!

Gunners4Life, IN AW we trust!

Agree1 Disagree1

I totally disagree as you well know G4L - I think if you are at risk of losing circa 5-10million in league positions and losing circa 30mil in champions league funds then you can afford to spend that if it means a chance of staying in the competition. The outcome would be this - either you climb the table and recoup the spend, and keep new assets (players), or you don't, but you have still got new assets. It's a win win situation, especially considering the profits at which we operate.

I do agree there is a limit to how much you pay over the top, of course. Nobody wants us to sign a 15m player for 25m, that's crazy. But to not sign a player for the sake of 1 or 2m either in fee or wages is simply outlandish disregard for the chance to improve both the team and the chances of success. I just do not buy this theory that it is better to waste another season and maybe buy in the summer...like it really doesn't matter if we slip down the table. Simple fact is, if we can afford not to earn money, we can afford to spend money.

You might think it is acceptable to sell Fabregas and Nasri one window, and not sign Cazorla for anther 2 windows - but the rest of us don't. It's just such basic business. If you create a gap in the squad you fill it. We had nobody coming through and on top of that Rosicky and Wilshere were injured. Ludicrous. So many people expected a player to come in in January.

And the same this summer - you don't sell Song, scout 3 top DMs, not sign any, and then HOPE Diaby gets fit. That is such shocking management. And I will tell you this - no manager in any business would keep his job after such dumb decisions. Regardless of the money made.

You seem to take real pride in the way the club has become corporate, it's the one thing most other fans absolutely hate. I have never understood this. I know it's each to their own and believe me this is not an attack, just observation...but I just cannot relate to a lot of things you say, as you know!

Changes in the summer simply is not good enough. We have a fortune sitting there and we won't touch it when good players are available. For me it is as simple as that, nothing will excuse it. It isn't about targets, reshuffling in the summer or anything else, it is about Wenger hating spending money.

Arsenal have never had any genuine interest in Adrian Lopez, was only a ploy to get Walcott to sign a new contract!

As for Villa, cannot see Wenger spending £25 mill (£10m signing fee, £5m per year salary) over 3 years for a player who is on the downhill!

Diame most likely to join in January, which will see Diaby leave in the summer, to Psg most likely!

Sagna to leave for Psg in summer, he has not been the same this seaaon!

Santos won't leave as nobody will buy him, even for free!

Realistic targets for Arsenal will be fringe Ligue1/2 players who Le Prof loves wasting time on!

I actually think there may be something in your first point. At the end of the day we wanted Theo to stay. We weren't sure if that would happen or not. So you get the world in a frenzy that we're looking at Zaha etc and he signed. That said....we did pay him what he wanted- so maybe it didn't work. You could only say it worked if he agreed to the deal we originally offered!

Just a thought, people going about how Diame is very similar to Diaby in terms of playing and how he wouldn't get into the first team for a fit Diaby.... everyone knows Diaby is mainly made of glass... ready made replacement there to carry on. Strong, atheletic, good skill, vision, and a wenger bargain, imo too many people looking at him moving him straight into the first team, Diaby is a beast when fit, IF we get Diame, we've got a beast to replace a beast.........

Yes you can, easily - pick any striker in europe who is doing well and under 20m, buy him. Put the offer in early so the club can find replacements. Target broke clubs. I heard some clubs defaulted on bank payments....

Few of his games and he is a beast better than Diame who in my opinion isn't even a DM. I think he would be a good signing but not starting material. that's pretty much it. if he comes I won't complain but won't celebrate much either. we could as well go for fellaini. if we have serious funds can't we even try a 25-30m bid? people say everton won't sell but we've seen every player has a price and fellaini would be worth every penny.

No. He scored 2 goals against a team in the championship, where was he against Chelsea when we needed him to score? he was missing a sitter. He is an average player at best and by scoring against West Ham and Brighton it does not make him a world beater or an adequate replacement for RvP. I will eat my words if he single handedly wins a big game for us like RvP did last year but as of yet all of his goals have come against Coventry, West Ham, Reading, a 10 man spurs, Newcastle etc. The only good teams who he scores against are when we're smashing them anyway.

Who thinks Walcott should stay out wide?i remember ronaldo at utd, and he didn't play through the middle, but broke all records?granted, Walcott isn't blessed with all talents ronaldo possesses, but against Chelsea when he cut in off the right and Caz put him through, I think it's harder to mark him with his pace, any thoughts?

Wolvo gooner

Believable8 Unbelievable1

I see no problem keeping Theo out wide at all. Truth is, the only reason it hasn't worked out until this season is because he has played badly, not because he isn't suited to it. He hasn't shown the desire, input, run timing etc etc. His runs lack intelligence, and a ot of the time Theo stays rooted to the spot, he looks like he really cannot be bothered. One of our biggest problems we've had this season is lack of movement and one of Theo's biggest career issues has been lack of movement. There's no reason he couldn't have notched 20 goals in his last 3 seasons but for lack of good runs - and lack of service from Sagna. Again I ask, how many times has Sagna put Theo through on goal? They have played on the same side of the pitch for over 4 years yet you could probably count the number of times Sagna clocks a Theo run and supplies him for an effort on goal on one hand.
This season we have seen a little bit more from Theo and he has been twice as impressive as a result. I certainly don't think he should be the lone striker, the guy can't volley and can't head a ball! Either up top in a 442 with someone else, or right of the 433.

That's my take anyway!

Metal Gooner

Agree5 Disagree1

If he is played as an out and out winger he struggles with getting up and down and unless he cuts in he is not of much use, if he can have a role that supports giroud just playing behind him then we see him running on to balls he is more comfortable and his finishing is only 2nd to poldolski .

Expect a young CB to be signed as cover for Djourou,

Seems to be a lot of interest in the french boy Thauvin, wouldn't be suprised, suprising thing is he's a attacking mid, something we certainly don't need,

Ramsey is playing his way back into form and may be the answer to the DM problem until the summer, the boy is gold, played out of position for the last year and hasn't complained always played 100%, sometimes making mistakes but never reacted to any boo's, now he's playing in a position he is comfortable with and it's showing. defo the best DM along with Coquelin we have a the club. HOWEVER. This guy is a professional footballer. His display yesterday did not reflect that. Its his job (for which he's paid handsomely) to not only stay fit but to always give 100%.

Yesterday Santos lollygagged up and diwn the left, misplaced bearly every pass, tried to get fancy dribbling out of the back, and taking shots for 35yards.

Just a thought as to why our board are so reluctant to spend this 70 mil in the kitty. Can you imagine how much interest that is making, must be hundreds of thousands a month! the money men have well and truly got the keys for the padlock unfortunately! I can't believe Wenger, who has spent 100's of millions over his tenure has suddenly turned into a miser unwilling to spend to make his labour of love AFC better! I have no idea how this will end but surely big money has to be spent in the summer. Ricky the sg

Believable4 Unbelievable1

Agree1 Disagree0

Wenger does spend. maybe not ludicrous amounts like our competitors, but he does. doubles figures for Reyes and Arshavin in January windows, double digit figures on unproven youngsters, healthy pay-packets for potential stars who turn out to be mediocre squad players, et al. but we, as club, haven't had a realistic "transfer kitty" for a while now. Wenger and Co. have had to find people whose fees and wages had to fit the pay structure at the club and make do.

it's not like we have 70 mil to go out and spend, it's more like 30-50 mil to tie up contracts of current players and then find players whose entire contract costs fit in what remains of that money.

We all want the squad to improve, but there is something to be said for patience.

Billybob

Believable4 Unbelievable3

Wow billybob you defend wenger so much that now you are defending santos! take the blinkers off, wake and smell and the coffee, we are 20 points off the top and struggle against bradford and brighton! we are so weak, a shadow of our past legends with players like santos that do not deserve to wear the shirt.

enrique, cissoko, shaw, baines, chrisito, could all be afforded, wenger is no longer a superior talent spotter, his best youngsters have deserted his sinking ship, time for some major changes

the defence is not to blame for the conceding of so many goals.
we are conceding so many corners and goals from set pieces because we do not have a dm who can win the ball and turn it into an attack.
the defence is always under pressure because we are not breaking down attacks in midfield.

imagine having some 1 like de-rossi sitting in the hole.

I somewhat agree. A new cdm wouldtake off the pressure.

We have 3 top class centerbacks. Maybe not world class, though on their day any one of them can play as well as any other CB.

The problem is our cohesion at the back. We lack synergy and understanding. Zonal marking has to go. Its clear to me our training sessions are too attack-oriented.

I hate the fact that so many fans slate Giroud, I love his passion and his workrate... he looks like someones told him his dog died everytime he misses a scoring opertunity... he's quality not rvp but its only his first season.. we need to get behind this team whether wenger signs or not, we need to help them build their confidence, this team with confidence is brilliant, they have the bit between their teeth...
Mr wenger definitely needs to sure up the defence!!

On another note going to my first arsenal game, against lliverpool! Hoping for a good atmosphere and a bit of friendly banter between the fansi

1-what are peoples thoughts on DIAME.is he the answer to the dm problem?

2-do people think there will be a marquee signing in january?

champagne charlie

Believable1 Unbelievable6

I am not sure he is the defensive answer as he offers a lot going forward .for 3.5 million would be a great signing and add some height and muscle to our midfield

Shaneyd

Agree3 Disagree1

Welcome back Charlie.

1. Diame is not the answer to our DM problem. He is more of a box to box midfielder. Your shout on another post re DeRossi was spot on.

2. I can't see a mega signing coming in this window as none would be available for CL. Any signings made now will be to improve our bench not the first team.

Naz

Agree2 Disagree2

I answer to your first question, I think we desperately need a dm, and for 3.5 million he would be a bargain. But he is not my first choice prefer Wanyama or Capoue.

And no I don't think there will be a marquee signing this january, but I would love to be proved wrong.

Agree1 Disagree0

Charlie

1. I rate Diame, I think he could be a star midfielder for us, worth 20m+ in a very short time.

2. No marquee signing, it's not Wenger's way, same old excuses about the right players not being available, when really it comes down to how much he is willing to fork out, for the right money any player is available.

Same as Podolski last year (he agreed to move in Jan, as long as we got CL), getting CL will dictate the ins and outs, so I expect very little to happen until July, when I think we will have a new manager and AW will be Chief Exec or somehing.

gun44

Agree2 Disagree0

I think Charlie if you look at signings they just give the whole club a boost, you can never have too many players and I rate Diame he is very dominant but tbh I think he is box to box and very athletic him and diaby would be very powerful ... However I don't think there will be signings .. Wenger said we will be active but I think his targets have moved to other clubs or said no or whatever because now apparently we have two good players in each position wouldn't hold your breath mate ... We won't get Diame because it ain't a case of getting the price down because his release clause is 3.5 surely we'd have purchased him

Good to have you back

I believe we will bring in two players, both completed during the final two days of the window.

Jovetic may not be the type of player we drastically require (defensive midfielder and a centre back in my opinion) however his signing will mean we can rotate the players we have who link up play in the centre- especially Jack and Santi who will get tired as the season goes on.

The more I see of Giroud and Theo, the more I realise we don't really need more strikers, they score their chances, but it's chances they need. Jovetic will provide these.

If we sign Diame then great. Play him against Stoke, West Ham etc.. The more physical teams. He will allow Jack and Arteta to play higher and be more creative.

Just my thoughts,

Paul

Good post Paul, the only thing I would add is that there is some work to do with both fullback positions in the summer, players to push jenks and gibbs for starts.

Hi guys this is my first post so bear with me!

Great work by the way ends!

Right I don't know if anyone will agree but why doesn't wenger put Tv as a DM he can tackle pass and has a great shot and has the ability on the ball!

I would then buy a CB Hummels or Subotic would be great but not really going to happen in my opinion but how about Hangerland contract up in the summer tested in the prem and would be a cheap option but I guess wenger would rather wait for a free transfer in the summer!

I would still like to see a no nonsense DM come in though to protect with tv

Striker wise would love some of the strikers mentioned and I keep dreaming wenger will spend some money but I really don't think he will.

Get rid of girvinho, squid, arshavin, rosicky (bad injury record) santos (terriable player) possibly diaby only because he is always injured, Sanga not the player he was. I never want to see bendtner or chamack back at the club

Come on arsenal sort it out

Watched the game against Brighton in a bar yesterday and both of there goals were from A.Santos mistakes. On one he got dispossesed easily and the ball was crossed and they scored. On the other one he stood off about 5 yards and let the winger go past and cross it.If anyone can remember the name gus caesar, I thought he was bad but santos is worse.Wenger please get rid of him. Also we must stop this zoneall marking as most of the goals we concede are due to this.

Personally I think we need to offload some of the players that are in my opinion are not of use to arsenal football club.
One of the keepers mannone or fabianski and then sign a new keeper

Sell sagna will get a good price and buy a quality rb who can cross the ball and is generally interested in arsenal football club

Sell squilachi and sign a young cb as I think the three we have at the minute are good enough

Offload santos and get a good lb to push gibbs

CM I would sell rosicky diaby and look to bring just one holding midfielder as we have cocqulein arteta to cover and then push for gotze or thiago from barca to keep good attacking midfielders.

RW and LW sign at least one player for cover and in case walcott goes up front to put rw as I don't feel cazola or ramsey are benefical there

sign another great striker and I think for next season will be a good force

Believable2 Unbelievable5

Goalkeepers are not a priority to be shown the door in my opinion. To be fair both mannone and fabianski are more than capable no.2s. Keepers need games to build form and confidence which you don't get being a no.2.

Sorry but the wenger out banner is embarrassing fans need to show our greatest manager some respect! Not saying that I agreed with everything he says/does or those responsible for the banner should be treated like a Welsh ball boy, but more of a re-think!

Yes it's been 8 years since we won a trophy, yes it's frustrating, yes we are inconsistent at present, yes its annoying we dither about when dealing with signings, yes we have some players not good enough for the club, IMO we have more deadwood than Travis Perkins, yes Wenger contradicts himself with every interview about transfers, yes I would like to see some proper players purchased, yes we have curtains positions without quality cover!

The club is more secretive than the Masonic order and we will never know the true on goings behind closed doors weather its the board, Wengers, Ivan or Stan or fault.

Back to the start a message to those responsible for the banner how about one that says

"OUT WITH ZONAL"

This way of defending is the true reason behind all our faults and why we have dropped many unnecessary points this season IMO that and Santos!

OnlyOneGilbertO

Believable12 Unbelievable9

I agree except with saying zonal doesn't work. It has and always will do but it depends on the personnel and communication.

Big Per fan but he had a bad day at the office yesterday.

We do not have a bad defence and for me MERT has been the clubs best defender this season.
the problem is we play with attacking full backs and when you do not have a proper dm it leaves gaps and causes problems.

champagne charlie

Agree4 Disagree0

SY4 you can't say it works depending on the personnel - the whole point is IT DOESN'T WORK FOR US BECAUSE WE DON'T HAVE THE PERSONNEL! When will you realise this? Comments like that are so annoying!

Zonal defending does not work, end of story, and in almost every pundit's opinion apart from Mick McCarthy.

It annoys me people say 'it does work, just depends on the players' when we don't have them, such a pointless comment. '433 is a great formation if you have the barca squad!' yeah but we don't. And if anything the play 460.

It's like when someone says 'I may or may not be in later' - great, that was insightful.

When we have conceded goals this year many times have you seen the players looking around with gormless expressions on there faces, looking for someone to blame, IMO this is down to zonal marking! If we went man for man on set plays it would be up to the individual to put his hand up instead of looking to pass the buck! CC I to am a fan of Per but find myself tearing my hair out when he is so easily out muscled and often beaten in the air FFS the mans a giant yes he can read the game well! IMO I would love us to sign a nasty barstardo that will go through an opponent, with regards to the wing backs I do agree to a level the main offender being Sagna who doesn't look at all interested in pulling on the famous red and white!

Believable12 Unbelievable2

I am loving the way Theo, Podolski and Giroud are all in double figures for goals and assists this season...so good.

Theo is easily on for 25 dare I say it could get 30 goals this year!

Podolski and Giroud I both expect to finish closer to 20 than 10 as well.

Good times. Would be nice to see Jack up his goal game, and see Santi reach double figures too - he's on 8, I am sure he will!

I haven't seen the whole game but the highlights I have seen per merts was woeful. Basic defending your taught from the age of 10 is "stay goal side". Both goals he didn't get know where near. Even on the second he was never goal side 10 secs before the ball was delivered. I think for one a top quality defender is a must. Let's stop conceding first and then worry about scoring . !! Our defending is shocking.

Ps - santos.......... Wow!! And he cost how much. Don't think buying defenders is wengers strong point!!

Greetings and salutations my fellow Gooners,

Charlie welcome back mate, hope you had a good one!

Now to the club at hand:

1. Santos, Santos, Santos - I think we can all agree that players deserve rest, Gibbs has been great as of late, but wow, how is this guy even on the pitch?!

2. Good to see Rosicky, I have always held high regard for him and truly believe injury has severely impacted his career. I hope he can stay healthy for the remainder of the season as he adds another dimension for the club.

3. Giroud - Its never easy to replace a talent of Van Persie's quality (allow me to say it was the right move to sell him, no one is better than the club) however I believe we are seeing the quality Arsene saw in him.

4. Podolski - I love his talent, I love his attitude, another great buy.

5. Back 4 - Yes Santos was abysmal but where is the presence?! Very frustrating!

All in all a difficult game as Brighton played very well. This is the beauty of the FA Cup, for some this is their equivalent of a CL final, good on the lads for doing what we needed to do. I still would like to see a couple of purchases, if they arrive great, if not we know what is required of us!

Onward and upwards,

If Wenger can't find anyone better than santos for cover for gibbs then fck ***. Seriously the guy is a disaster. If we can find Jenkinson for 1mil for good cover while Sagna is out then surly he can find the same cover for gibbs! Mr Santos needs to be sold or we tear up his contract and take the loss. i'm sure some Turkish team will take him for a mill or two. Utterly disappointed with him as you can tell...

Believable7 Unbelievable1

Jenkinson was ripped to shred by the fans when Wenger bought him. Oh how I love how fickle we all are.

Agree11 Disagree0

Mate, I for one did not 'rip Jenko to shreds' even after his own goal, which I found hilarious!

I did, however, rip Wenger to shreds for not buying an established player. As much as we love Jenko's passion for the club and his improvement this season, he was poor in almost all his games last season. Wenger doesn't buy what we need when we need it...it's always 'ah, we need X, so lets by x and wait a season for him to grow into X'. But what about this season Arsene?

A word on Transfer Dealing with Arsenal,

From an Arsenal Podcast Friday, so its concrete info, and it makes me really angry we have so many ignorant people behind the scenes.

We asked Bolton to talk to Cahill 2 summers ago, (when that saga was going on) and they said ok, So Dick Law met with GC and his reps and they agreeds personal terms so he returned back to bolton knowing just a fee was to be agreed and that was that.(Which Arsenal had talked to Bolton off record and had said he would cost 15 million if he had a longer contract so 10 million should do)

Dick Law rang up Phil Gartside and want to try agree a fee for him, Phil was happy and said ''just don't mess me around'' Dick Law opened talks by saying we will give you 4 millions + First refusal on Kyle Bartley, which Gartside got left the room and that was the end of the talks, he has also told Arsenal never to deal with Bolton again,

What makes it worse is that Kyle Bartley was snatched from the Bolton accademy to go to Arsenal,

So Arsenal aren't very liked behind closed doors, Dick Law is 1 of the reasons for this, you wonder why transfer dealings take so long at our club its that man. AW gets the stick a lot of the time but the problem lies elsewhere,

nothing but the truth their. #OneArseneWenger

The things I do agree with - that we are disliked by all clubs. We are. man united want a player, they go 'How much for so and so? £14mil? Ok. What? Someone else is in for him too? Ok here's £15m. Cash. Cheers, nice one.' Deal done.

We go 'How much? 15m? Well my valuation based on my own arrogance is 7m. So how about 6.5m? Why should I get lost? Wait - don't leave! - 7m? How's that? That's fair in my eyes.' and then wonder why deals never happen. Clubs hate dealing with us.

Hi, posted this few times but not seen as yet but have several sources in arsenAl, known ov any significance but one who works in shop has said they have had word no additional players coming in to effect squad numbers for shirts. He said had heard on grapevine 2 poss signings but one will be loaned out abroad straight away for rest ov season and other very young and not for 1st team. This backs up earlier rumour heard wenger not signing anyone as the few targets he looked at aren't available, expect wenger comments and interviews to start swaying towards no buys now to lower disapointment come transfer window end. I know many will slate me for negativity as wenger has said looking for a couple to bring in and he still is but won't happen. are you ov same belief eds? Thanks and keep up the good comments and info highburyhippo

Highburyhippo I will not slate you but could I just ask that you type 'of' instead of 'ov'. I guarantee you'll be taken more seriously.

As for the whole 'people in the shop thing' - when I went to the shop and the museum one thing was very very clear. Firstly, the staff in those areas, and in fact anywhere in the club, have no idea what's going on. Ever. Nobody has been told nobody is coming in, that doesn't happen.

Also, there is a reason why 'changes' in shirt printing activity are never EVER mentioned in transfer rumours, neither are betting odds, and nor are 'X was left out of the calendar photographs' stories are never ever written with regards to transfers - why? Because they are simply not linked to transfers in any way. When was the last time we read 'Walcott missing from 2013 calender pictures - could he be on his way out?'

The African Nations Cup is a whole different thing from the premier league and I'm not being disrespectful, but look at the quality of opposition he faces their compared to the premier league and the pace and physical level which the premier league is played at. He is probably in the top 5 players there and in the best team by a country mile. Playing there isn't a different Gervinho or one who will come better but same one playing a much lower level of football, making him look better.

The difference is that the fans are behind him, whereas here we just slaughter players if they have a bad game. Gervinho is a good player, not great, but good.
