Wenger on the new suggested rules - have to agree with the wise man

"I give you two examples. In Yugoslavia in the past they decided you had to play three players on the team sheet who were under 21. What happened? They became professional subs. It happened in France, too.

"Then they decided you had to play three players under-21 from the start. You know what happened? They subbed all three after five minutes.

"If we want to sell the Premier League for a huge amount of money then we need to say: 'buy this, this is the best in the world.' You cannot go against the quality and what is at the heart of our job which is competition."

Absolutely, can you imagine how much someone crap like Carrick would have cost Utd in the new world...

I dislike Dyke and I dislike the latest attempt to change the rules. We currently have a good crop of young English players who have come through, benefittting from playing and training alongside foreign players.
The PL is a great league, possibly the best because we have foreign managers and players. If you select your top PL team & manager, how many are English?
However, the FA try to manipulate the playing squads, the top foreign players will always be selected and the rest will be substitutes.
I don't think the clubs will agree to the proposed changes, nor will the TV companies like the idea of a PL with less foreign players.
Before the PL came into existence when there were very few foreign players, the national team failed to qualify for two world cup finals in 1974 & 1978. We failed again in 1994, when there were far less foreign players playing in the PL.
They will have a hard job implementing the proposed rules in respect of players coming from the EU, so restrictions to players outside the EU may be possible, but they will be replaced by players from EU countries, as a challenge will surely come from EU players and the rules will no doubt be found to be against EU employment regulations.

Get some tips from Rue Dags, a man of few jokes but when he tells one the whole world gets the giggles.
I guess you must feel about Rue as Nicky B feels about Henry mate :-)

danny sturridge. great player but he's the next diaby

27 Mar 2015 16:01:56
Or Walcott or Wilshere or Ramsey, I don't think Sturridge can be classed as unfortunate as poor old Diarby yet.

14 injuries since he signed. He won't be far behind

27 Mar 2015 17:00:18
is that true derby? 14 injuries in 18-24 months that's nuts

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Mar 2015 17:23:21
How many goals in that 18 months?

What I'm told mate think he signed Jan 2013. Its worrying I'm no Liverpool fan but I rate him highly and hope he gets his carear sorted. He can't handle international football I don't think. Should of gone on holiday

What I'm told Eden. Worrying

27 Mar 2015 18:58:06
Great when he was alongside biteboy, not too sure now.

27 Mar 2015 19:34:18
He's played 54 games in two years and scored 35 goals, not horrendous at all

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - most of them were off the back of suarez G62, he was afforded space due to defenders looking towards the vampire as the main threat.....dont expect me to give any liverpool player credit mate.. :)

27 Mar 2015 20:53:55
Fair play Ed two dozen and a bit mate, I've always ratted him since his city days and from what I've heard and read he seems like a very decent person too, well apart from the Liverpool bit that is :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - he is a decent guy G62...but im afraid i cant get past the liverpool bit to see it..

27 Mar 2015 21:02:08
Totally understand your feelings Ed I'm the same with Orville, if he wasn't a Arsenal player I'd have a lot lot lot more time for him :-)

27 Mar 2015 22:50:38
i wasnt saying he hadnt done well g62, i was just amazed at the amount of injuries in a small amount of time

Totally appreciate that eden mate the point I was marking was he's a long way from Diarby, or even Jack mate

I think for number of injuries in two years he's passed them. They just have ones that keep them out longer. His goal record has been great but I have no doubt they will sign a striker this summer

I see the marco reus rumour mill has churned up again.

im aware Ed002, has said he is not going to join arsenal, and he was quite clear that bale is not an option either.

Campbell and Poldi don't need replacing with Welbeck and Ox the options we have.

Diaby, Flamini don't need replacing as we got Le Coq.

And if we do manage to sign Schneiderlin, it will likely be for Arteta leaving this summer or next.

surely a DM can't be the only summer signing? and although we are looking for a GK, unless we can offload Sczesny and get a no1 i don't see us getting a GK either.

so that leaves us with Walcott and wilshere.
im quite certain wilshere will be part of the team next summer, he will be given another chance, and if he can put his head down work hard and keep the injuries to a minimum he may surprise us like he did 3 years ago.

Walcott is a funny one. last year of contract, talk of reus and dybala both of who we won't be getting, are we looking to get him to sign quick? or are we genuinely going to go out an buy a replacement, which by the looks of it is Pedro.

so who would you guys prefer we replace with walcott?

considering chelsea may land Koke and Manchester United a bale or ronaldo, and man city whoever they fancy disregarding FFP like they do.

Would love to see us sign Reus, with Walcott sold to fund the deal.
The other signings:
Cech for Szczesny
Subotic - Great defender & would make up 4 world class centre backs, how we would keep them all happy would be a problem. Although I don't see us signing a CB this summer, as we have 3 + Chambers to make up the numbers.
Schneiderlin for Flamini & Arteta
Reus for Walcott.

My only remaining concern is at left back, where Monreal clearly lacks the pace necessary in PL.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Mar 2015 13:43:26
I do think we would regret selling walcott - but yes reus would be the player I would lover to see at arsenal.

I think if we can get Schenderlin which could be a real possability as i don't believe southampton or tottenham will get champ league football. Add a TOP TOP keeper and poss a left back ( although part of me wants to stay loyal to gibbs and moneral has done a great job this season even when playing out of position)

Why would we buy Reus we have plenty of those

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Mar 2015 15:25:32
Reus has 96 app's for Dortmund with 49 goals Hood and is better than Campbell, Podolski, Welbeck, Walcott and Rosicky, so for me that would be a good enough reason to buy him irrelevant of the fact the likelihood of it happening is remote to say the least.

I would like Walcott to remain and players of the quality of Reus to be an addition.

Dybala is another one who could replace the likes of Campbell, Podolski and Sanogo.

The previous talk of Draxler seems to have died a death too, form and injury hampering any progress he might have made.

27 Mar 2015 15:26:41
I agree robbie, Cech would be ideal no1 to replace sczeny, however i don't see chelsea selling him cheap especially to us, and most likely Madrid or PSG as his destination.

walcott has to be sold, he is not going to sign in the summer and will wait till jan to use leverage, i say if he wants to earn his place he has to fight for it. he has proven nothing, and he owes the club much like van persie did by persisting with his injuries, i can't see any other top club persisting with players who keep getting injured like we do.

Agree1 Disagree0

27 Mar 2015 16:43:30
Reus is consistent Theo whether its injury or form just isnt, surely its a no brainer.
If he goes else where and is fantastic good for him but I doubt he'll ever out perform Reus in his whole career

27 Mar 2015 16:56:58
Would be a massive statement reus signing. I feel that the manc clubs will get bale this summer and reus wik go to Madrid.

Manu back in champs league they may present the fans with a present for the year out.

We need to cash in on pod and Campbell this summer and go again.

27 Mar 2015 17:13:15
Poldolski Campbell Flamini Diarby as good as gone with Walcott Szczesney and probably the big German Carzola and Artetta all being on the likely to go list.
A few quid extra in fees on top of what's already available and a lot of money in wages freed up there for 2 or 3 quality additions.

Hi Ed002. I know you are quite well connected, as an Arsenal fan, is there any reason to be excited about the upcoming transfer window or the club hasn't finished identifying its targets? Also, any anticipated changes in coaching staff, boardroom, sponsorship deals etc? Any info will be appreciated

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what would get you excited and what wouldn't. The club will continue to look at players as the season progressed - and as all others do. They will be a were that certain players they have shown an interest in will not be available now. I am not aware of other changes at this time.}
