Iv seen morata mentioned a few times. I seen a ed mention that 28 million will be no where near enough. Right can someone please explain to me why on earth he is even worth that much let alone more. 13 goals in 63 games (something like that can't be arsed to check ) why is he so bloody expensive he's third choice at juventus! This is madness crazy lunacy am I dead or is this for real.

I guess its called 'potential' mate and has played for 2 heavyweights like Real Madrid and Juventus, scoring the winner in Coppa Italia against AC Milan.

He's only 23 so has 10 years in front of him.

Probably same reason Man City paid £47m for Sterling. Potential.

I wanted aubamayang and kante, if we end up with zhaka and morata it will be a case of wait and see for me, as both are not quite top top but may be. Moratas record is not spectacular but he's a good footballer, is he going to be better than giroud, for me yes.

27 May 2016 23:23:00
Would prefer
A) Aubemayang

B) Lacazette

C) Morata.

27 May 2016 23:45:01
As a top finisher Olly is a no Moratas is a maybe so the right thing to do even if it doesn't go as we hope it will.
Doing nothing and hoping for a different out come is the thing that winds me up.

28 May 2016 00:39:13
In those 63 odd games for Morata, the vast majority are as a sub. Check his goals per minute ratio and it's something like 1 every 101 minutes.

Cazorla starts alongside Xhaka until jack or Rambo are more consistent or end of his contract? Can obv rotate in with Xhaka too. Can we keep them all if all rotating? Hope so, but don't know. Maybe AW has to play cazorla less to keep Jack and Ramsey developing and happy.

Elneny and Coq, like them both, and great for doubling up DM. They'll backup Xhaka, and sometimes play with him, but how much game time? Can they improve if they don't get it? Will they be happy staying? Think/ hope so for now.

IWOBI for LW backup and sub for ozil/ sanchez sometimes. Great prospect.

Got to keep Danny for cfwd competition, and giroud too, plus can play Danny out wide obv, so another backup/ sub for LW/ RW

So just need our RW/ fwd starter?
WALCOTT
CAMPBELL
GNABRY
THE OX
DANNY

I think GNABRY and Campbell would be great backup if possible to keep them. Can't fault Campbell's desire and performed well considering. GNABRy played well and a good prospect, but neither would scare the opposition right back like a mahrez at the minute.

Danny - can do a good job, but prefer him up top.

So it comes back to the ox and Theo.

A) Keep them both for 1 more season and rotate until one makes the position theirs?

B) sell one of them, Put your faith in the other and keep playing them regardless of form and hope they gain confidence and perform?

C) or sell them both and get a proven RW/ Fwd that plays out wide?

It pains me to say it, but if we could get mahrez, or a great proven replacement then I'd go for c.

If not, I'd gamble on the ox, as he hasn't had as much of a chance, and I think its confidence rather than ability he lacks.

Hoping AW works a miracle and whatever it is.

I would probably sell Theo and Ox (or one of them and Campbell) .

jim play your best team and don't worry about the other players feelings. its a big club not a day care center.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 May 2016 10:59:36
I agree SLB, but does it depend how quickly form can be turned around, and if the end product will be better (in the case of giving players a chance like we did with Ramsey) . Would the ox really dazzle given a regular run? If messi had a blip in form, would it be best to drop him, or just play him knowing its a matter of time until he comes good-also keeping him more positive?

And we want squad depth and passion from the players. If everyone's fit, must be hard for players keeping motivated if third choice in their position and they are good quality, knowing they could go elsewhere for a starting spot. Tjats why I can't fault Campbell for being so patient and still giving 100%. I don't claim to know the best approach, but must be a high degree of people management to keep squad depth of a good quality, young players improving and morale up.

What about Diego Simeone, his style of football might be an issue, but boy he makes his players give more than 100%, though I would be happy with Ronald Keoman also.

Agree0 Disagree1

28 May 2016 11:05:21
Tuchel from Dortmund. Other than their game against Liverpool in the Europa League they've been fantastic.

Koeman would also be a good choice, like many have pointed out he's performed exceptionally well given the fact Southampton lose a few players every year and then find cheaper replacements.

Andre Schubert at Borussia Monchengladbach maybe another option, although I don't think he speaks English. He turned their season around when he was appointed and they play good attacking football. He's performed miracles this season considering their squad was decimated by injuries.

For me Simeone is a no go. His football is the complete opposite of our own. He'd be employed solely based on his ability to regularly win major trophies, something that is unrealistic. If he didn't then it'd turn toxic quick!

We're used to a style of play, a philosophy of attacking football and nurturing of young players and I fully believe we should be continuing that.
Wenger once said "big clubs have a responsibility to win, but also to win with style. " Those words are the reason many millions around the world are Arsenal fans.

Hi Eds,

Can anyone tell me if we are interested in any wingers? With the futures of Theo and Ox in major doubt I would assume we would be looking at replacements for the RW slot. As much as I think Iwobi is a great youngster, I would rather have a Mahrez-type winger at RW (imagine Sanchez and Mahrez on the wings! ) .

Cheers.

There's been suggestions of an Arsenal song for years. Just listening to Robert Elms [the last DJ] playing Waterloo Sunset. It really is crying out to be 'our' song. Could change it slightly to fit us but it's made for us. As Robert said it's our city anthem.
Thoughts guys.

27 May 2016 12:05:37
I don't think the crowd at the Emirates actually wants to sing. it's better to suggest this to the away fans.

Agree2 Disagree0

27 May 2016 13:13:18
As much as the Emirates is a s****y new stadium its design for me doesn't make for the possibility of a great atmosphere.

The ring of posh seats and boxes break up the more genuine fans, you look at the Allianz and they have two full tiers of fans before the boxes which are much higher up.

It means the rich people can get on with eating their canapés and drinking fine wine whilst looking down on the minions eating their pies but having a good old sing song and creating a fantastic atmosphere.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - its the fans that make the atmosphere red dog..not the stadium mate..

27 May 2016 13:30:44
Yes ed I totally agree but my point being the two tiers of boxes and the expensive season ticket holders who I doubt ever sing etc are sandwiched between the more, genuine, for want of a better word, fans who would, grouped together create a much better atmosphere.

Having been to the Emirates and watched countless games we don't really create anything like the atmosphere we should, which is poor for such a big club.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - you may be right mate..

27 May 2016 15:59:59
I honestly would love it if we have a good song though, like Sunshine on leith and i'm on my way that Hibs fans sing, and the one by crystal palace as well. Try suggesting this on Arsenal Fan TV on YouTube, they might take it up as well. I will also send them a message, let them check it out n see what happens.

Drum roll.

Samuel Umtiti!

Athletic
Comfortable on the ball
Versitile (used to be an LB)
Right age (22/ 23)
Not the finished article (annoyingly) .

Apparently Tottenham have expressed interest in the player as well, along with many other European clubs.

A shrewd Wenger could get it done!

Thanks for a great season guys, special mention to Dags, Steve R and Raver. I have enjoyed your posts everyday on the way
in to work everymorning.

In regard to my Theo posts to his contract last year, I stand by that he is overpaid and needed to be sold then. Arsene is a very protective and Loyal Man and it seems like many players have taken advantage of his kindess and optimism.

Even though there have been protests this year, we have finished second. We aren't Barcelona or RM, this is highly competive league.

Van Gaal fumbled as well as Jose, Wenger knows this leaugue better than anybody, he is a scholar. leicester had a billionaire chairman (who put in place solid backroom staff) and a world class manager (Check his stats prior to leicester) , nobody could have predicted that. the same thing happened to us in the late 80's and early 90's when we were written off as 'boring Arsenal'.

Nobody would have predicted our resurgence in the late 90's, we struggled for years up to that point. Wenger has changed football, he is gracious and I can't see a better manager in the world than him at the moment.

I would rather support Arsene Wenger than managers such as Jose, Klopp and Conte who are not of sound character. In regard to Simeone, don't people remember the stunt he played on Beckham? I would rather support another club rather than him being associated with us. His stats won't work with the premiership also. Believe it or not, we should wait for Henry, who loves the club.

The thing about Arsenal that I Love, it is about loyalty and family. We stick together through the good and bad times. We are unique in the fact that we have grown up with Wenger as a manager. I would only trust our legacy to a true fan.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - good post that dymond..

27 May 2016 06:37:23
Absolutely, the problem with replacing Wenger is that all the top managers, except Pellegrino, are in jobs and inane suggestions that the likes of Simeone would leave Athletico, leave Spain, learn English, all to manage us, are unrealistic in the extreme.
Wenger has done an amazing job at the club and even over the last 3 seasons, we have won 2 cups and last season we finished second, above the likes of Man C, Man U and Chelsea. We are 3 or 4 players short of a top quality squad and the signing of Xhaka has strengthened the squad. I believe we will sign a RB and forward. We may sign a young CB to replace Mertesacker at the end of next season, when his contract expires. Possibly a LF, if Gibbs forces a move.

That's why I'm wanting Tuchel as our next manager, seems like a classy guy.

As much as we want Henry to be next we've got to look at the fact it would be a huge huge gamble. He's got no experience of managing at a high level, and especially not at one as ultra competitive as fighting for champions league places in the prem! Before the "Pep did it" people appear please remember Pep inherited the best side in world football at a time when there wasn't much competition for Barce in their domestic league, therefore it wasn't really a gamble at all as they were guaranteed to make top 4!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - how about henry with arsene as DOF sforza?..

27 May 2016 11:19:19
Possibly, but then it's still a risk. Obviously having Arsene as DOF could go either way, he either helps when he's needed/ asked for or he tries to interfere. There's also the possibility that Henry still views him as the boss and undermines his own authority.

Honestly though I'd bet we'd all be willing to give Henry time to get it right, and having Arsene help him would be brilliant as it would allow Henry to focus solely on first team matters whilst Arsene takes care of most other issues.

Anybody know how Henry is perceived as a coach?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he was well received on the recent Wales coaching session he was involved in.}
