Players and managers come and go and I for one love and respect wenger! But what I love more is Arsenal and Arsenal first and formost. So for that reason it's time to want what's best for my club and that is change! We pay money and are as loyal as most and we are no longer getting a good return for our money. We need to start paying for dead certs and stop this speculative approach to success.

Sorry old friend you either need to give us a last season to remember and bloody pay the money or you gracefully pack up your shit and get out.

See what you're saying but it's clearly got to a point where no matter what he does it won't be good enough for most of our fans. Not including me however. But say he spends big and we miss out on the league by a point next season. We'll Moan that he did it a season to late.

29 Apr 2016 08:24:30
Like you say that's how it's got.

D if we're actually involved in the title race next season and end up missing out by a point I would be a happy man, the disappointment of not crossing the line in first place would be horrible for a couple of weeks but it wouldn't wipe out the excitement of actually being competitive in the premier league title race again after such a long time of being 4th place chasers.
Few are actually demanding we win the league every year only that we are in the race mmost years.

Agree4 Disagree0

29 Apr 2016 10:41:39
To be fair was we not in the race this year. Debatable I guess. I dunno it just seems Any kind of slip up from now a lot of fans would be straight up complaining and getting on Arsene and the teams back.

Agree0 Disagree4

29 Apr 2016 12:29:51
Sanogolovesbentner ther are no dead certs, look at torres, Veron, Jeffers.
a lot of fans have lost it with Arsene and as you say that is the way it is, I just wonder if we get a new manager, start spending big, and start finishing 7th 8th, those same fans that do not see us as a successful club will start wishing that the best individual represent this club out of it.

Agree0 Disagree4

29 Apr 2016 12:47:46
Of course not but there are choices that no one could condemn.

What a good Debate
Who is better than what we have out their at the moment
He has guided us threw our biggest change as a club. kept us in the top 4 making money every year, paying off the debt
I think and hope we give him one more year and respect him for what he has done.
Bigger clubs than ours would snap him up.
I'm sure we don't know the truth about what has happened behind the scenes, We are working men and the odd comedian,
So let's united and stand together for one more year and Enjoy It.

D was we in the race really mate? I know nothing about motor racing but I'm pretty sure there's no place reserved on the podium for the bloke who was leading half way through the race but finished 10 laps behind the man who was fastest over the whole race, I can't think of a single sport where someone fades out of contention at the half way stage and is considered to be a genuine contender for 1st place.

Agree2 Disagree0

29 Apr 2016 16:10:49
Yea ok granted we wasn't leading that race but we was still in for a outside chance a few weeks ago so we was in the title race I'd say. Regardless we've still not done good enough.

I have stated the only two ways things can be resolved and have a harmonious year.

1. Wenger spends and spends good
2. Wenger departs.

Agree0 Disagree1

29 Apr 2016 18:36:16
I agree with you D16. There's something satiating about being in the fight even if you lose out.

The FA cup has always been my favourite competition but I know it's laregly now a token prize as it pales in importance to Champions League participation. I don't think any PL manager would argue against that.

I have a United colleague who took the micky out me celebrating our FA cup wins (just as wind up he loves the cup to) United making the final last week was the first time he's been enthisiastic about United in a couple seasons since the malaise of Fergies departure. He went bloody mental when Martial scored the winner. The point being for fans its the cup is like a blood a sport when you get down to business end of proceedings. It carries the excitment of the fight.

Plodding along lethargically simply filling places on the table is hard to spend money on after enough years of it in succesion. To fight and lose still gives you excitment.

Forgetting this season for a minute. Except for man u citeh and chelski can anyone name a team that should, with all their resourses, realistically year after year be finishing above us in the league. I cant, we have bigger revenues than all the teams below a bigger ground, we charge the highest ticket prices and we pay more wages than them all. So please remind me again, what is wenger doing so remarkable, that commands his lofty wage. he's doing just what we could possibly expect, bare minimum. How many times in the last 12 years has he done a leicester. Even the spuds are punching above their weight, stoke, southampton, west ham, bournmouth punching above their weight, when was the last time we did. Please remind me, I have a terrible memory.

Believable5 Unbelievable1

28 Apr 2016 23:01:50
We haven't even punched our own weight let alone above it!

28 Apr 2016 23:12:45
But as Wenger will probably point out, how many of them have continually finished in top and 4 and qualified for CL for 19 years?

Just saying :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Apr 2016 23:30:23
And he'd be right to do so Dags as long as he also pointed out they've all been champions more than once during that time.
1st 2nd 5th 1st 2nd or
4th 4th 4th 3rd 4th?
I know which I'd choose.
Consistency is much used word in football but seldom followed by AVERAGE in a complimentary manner.

Agree4 Disagree0

28 Apr 2016 23:31:11
Yes but the thing is that makes football football is that you dream of doing better and that's the bottom line dags. It's been year after year in the champions league and it's now like big deal. It's ok all these fans from lower clubs telling us we should be thankful but you have to forget their bs and realise your an arsenal fan and for us and our high standards it is simply not good enough and rightly so!

At least the money men are happy.

have you ever thought that actually we were punching above our weight all those seasons that we did not have the resources and had to sell all out best players?

BREAL
spot on but that is not what some want to hear.
Steve bar man u city Chelsea who else has won the league before this year. (lol Blackburn)
Is this not described as the weirdest season yet a freak.
When Arsene came did he not improve us, make us one off Europe's best.
How quick we forget,
Maybe we are GREEDY,

Agree1 Disagree3

29 Apr 2016 13:01:02
Gunner b the answer to that is definitely not, far from it, we have always had more resourses than most and even more now. The question was, name some teams that have more resourses than us basically below fourth that we finish above regularly. Wenger is achieving nothing special.

Agree3 Disagree0

29 Apr 2016 13:25:40
Welsh wenger improved what rioch was doing but gg was winning leagues, fa cup, league cup and a european cup. Wenger for a while got that back, bur to say we have that now and are one of the best teams in europe is laughable. Name me teams we are year on year beating who have more resourses than us, what are we doing so special.

29 Apr 2016 16:17:40
These Wenger debates are quite interesting I must say. We talk more about him than any transfer rumours lol. Steve obv you are a massive Wenger out fan. Fair enough. But if he spent big this summer and we had a squad capable of winning but we still finished 4th how would you feel about that. Blame him? Possibly Hard to answer seeing as you wouldn't know his tactics etc lol. But give it a go. And other Arsene out people. Be interesting if he can repair the lost faith in him.

Agree0 Disagree1

29 Apr 2016 18:01:45
I wouldn't blame him as much!
It's the fact every man and his dog knew he wouldn't win anything unless he bought! Not 1 outfield player. I said at the time as a long standing wenger in that even after all that crap last Sumer that the time to judge was at the end of a season. Now it's the end of the season and he has to go or pull some amazing signings out of the bag and quick. The only argument in the wenger in camp that has any validity is who else can we get! But for me that still isn't a strong enough case. So this Summer with any look it will be wenger out and us out of the EU 👍🏻.

29 Apr 2016 18:25:25
D16, what are you on about, he didn't spend and even if he did, the guy is not up to it anymore. For goodness sake 20 years is too long for anyone at top level sport, how many people ard actually able to do a top job on orcof the pitch for that long, in fact any sport, none and he's no different.

Agree1 Disagree1

29 Apr 2016 20:04:58
Steve I think you should be asking yourself what you're on about or skip that and learn to read ;) . I said if he spends this summer. Meaning the one coming. I'm quite aware he didn't spend last summer I do follow the team enough to become aware of that lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Apr 2016 00:03:37
Yes D16 i stand corrected. Personally i think if he did spend this summer we wouldn't do much better, spending and buying is only part of the problem. For starters pep coming is bad news for wenger, moureen might be bad news for wenger, conti at chelski will be bad news for wenger, klopp with his team will be bad news for wenger, poch is bad news for wenger. I said it at the start of this season, the best managers are not in the prem, the only manager that has won the champs league has just come in to manage newcastle, but next season there will be three or four at least who have won or capable of wiining it and recent domestic leagues, been a thorn in wengers side and wenger couldn't lace their boots as a manager of top teams. He will be so out of his depth.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Apr 2016 18:30:16
The daily star are reporting that Pep wants Theo :-) I know he's keen on his teams regaining possession within 7 seconds once they lost it but £15 million for a ball boy is a lot of money no matter how quickly Theo can catch the ball and get it back to the city players :-)
That's about the only thing I can think of to give this story a hint of credibility :-)

Theo the ballboy :-) :-)

Lol G62, I think Walcott has chosen a wrong career, instead of football he should gave tried his hand in athletics might have given Usain Bolt a good challenge.

29 Apr 2016 18:37:57
With he's touch i'm not sure he's cut out to be a ball boy. Would take him 10mins to get the ball back i to play.

One to watch tonight:
Cedric Bakambu.

Good physical player, who could fit the Prem.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

28 Apr 2016 13:53:07
Hi Billybob,
I shall watch him with interest since you mention him but his goals to game ratio isn't too hot? 43 in 151?

If we are going to shop in Waitrose or Sainsburys rather than Selfridges Food Hall as we also seem to do these days, I've got a few suggestions for new forwards:

* Ousmane Dembele from Rennes
* Breel Embolo from Basle and my personal preference
* Islam Slimani from Sporting Lisbon.

All the above assumes we won't be getting Aubameyang anytime soon.

I'd also recommend Gaston Pereiro from PSV in midfield, again assuming we don't go for broke with Calhanoglu and/ or Granit Xhaka.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Apr 2016 14:54:01
Oops: I mean't that my preference is Slimani, not Embolo as it reads, although I would think we should consider all three strikers and definitely midfielders too.

Nice posts Max.

Agreed that we are probably shopping at Sainsbury and may swing by Aldi to see what's on the clearance counter. :)

Embolo has the 'raw materials' big physical presence, but not sure how he is technically.

I have read a lot about Ousmane Dembele now but ever seen. Is it hype or is he actually THAT good?

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Apr 2016 16:54:27
I think he's a real prospect. Perhaps he could write to M. Wenger if and when he "becomes available". Would want our beloved Manager to miss out on him all for the want of not knowing he is for sale!
Pereiro also could do Arsene a favour by sending him an e-mail with his credentials. I think he is a genius-in-waiting.
With him in our squad I'd feel less concerned about letting The Ox (really sorry) , Theo (sorry) , Jack Wheelchair (not sorry) , Arteta (thanks) , Rosicky (loved him, on the odd occasion he was fit) and Flamini (nowhere near as bad as the flack he gets given on this site, but way past it) go.
Not saying he'd replace them all on his own of course, but with Zalelem and Gnabry back (and fit) with Iwobi, Ramsay, Elneny, Le Coq, Alexis and (ideally) Xhaka as a midfield group of nine players, plus Campbell, Welbeck, Dembele or Slimani (or possibly Embolo) with Giroud as an option too + Chuba Akprom I'd like that.

That doesn't address the need for two centre backs, one left back and a partridge in a pear tree, but we got to start somewhere!

28 Apr 2016 17:16:23
IT's a tricky one though, because with the changes you mention, the midfield would look great, but I do worry that worry we need a consistent top-performer upfront (which we can afford. )

But once again it looks like we need 3 players. I don't see Wenger selling Theo or the Ox, so my guess for departures:

Campbell (unfair. )
Arteta (give him the coaching job)
Flamini
Rosicky
Jenko (? )
Ospina (Think he's unhappy)
Gibbs?

Wenger doesn't really sign more than 3-4 players so my guess would be:
GK - Viviano / etc.
CM/ DM - Xhaka / Kante
CB/ RB/ LB - Someone who can play across the back
CF: I think wenger has tried and failed in this department (Suarez/ Higuain/ Benzema? ) , but will try again.

Perhaps if Aubameyang moves to Real Madrid, it will spark a bit of a transfer merri-go-round.

Billy I agree totally about Campbell mate what he's done wrong to be behind both Theo and Ox I don't know but it's best for him to move on despite doing well this season imo.
As for Arteta moving into a coaching role with us I'd be up for that if we change managers but if Arsene stseys I think we need someone from the outside with new/ different ideas desperately not someone else who's another yes man for Arsene.
No disrespect but we have more than enough of those at the club again IMO.
