It honestly shocks me on here how many people don't believe in us getting a top 4. I really do think it's a possibility. But even if it's not we need to do our part as fans and get behind the team say we win our game in hand then there's only one game in it. If there's a team that can finish strong it's us.

Hi 16 mate I'm actually shocked your shocked :-) i'd be very pleasantly surprised if we beat Spurs and Utd mate and that's what's needed to make top 4 given our situation.
We could all make a case how 2 draws would still make it possible or even two defeats but in truth our margin for era is in arrears not credit mate.

Hi mate. Haha I knew someone would say that about being shocked. Hopeful we do it. Just have a feeling we will scrape 4th. I'm sure we've made it through even less likely times then this. Fingers crossed.

Just because we don't think we will finish top 4, doesn't mean we don't want us to finish top 4.

That's correct dags! But I never once said anyone doesn't want us to finish top 4. Word twisting like that you should become a journalist 😝 lol.

Hope you're feeling is right 16 mate, all feelings and thoughts about a top 4 finish are equal right now be them for or against it happening, beat Spurs and a lot of people who are very firmly in the ( no way Jose ) camp will suddenly find their opportunism levels transformed into the ( let's have another look at that league table ) camp :-)
Personally I can't see better than 2 points at very best from the next 2 games but as we all know I have been wrong before mate :-)

Top4 not for me lads. A wake up call is needed if not more of the same. I know people believe we will do it but I can't see it. Too far away this time.

As an Arsenal fan I always have belief that we can succeed. In order to stand a chance of a top four place I believe we have to avoid defeat tomorrow and then win the remaining five matches, which is a tall, but nit impossible task. We then have Man U at home. They have a heavy schedule, with an important match on Thursday away to Anderlecht in the EL semi-final. They have injuries and suspensions to cope with, whilst we will have a ful weeks rest. If we avoid defeat at the Toot, our confidence will continue to rise. Southamton and Stoke away follow, both tricky fixtures, but not impossible, we have beaten both teams at home in the PL this season. Then we have a very winnable match at home to Sunderland and finally on the last day of the season we are home to Everton. The teams I believe we have to catch are Man U and Liverpool. Man U have a difficult run in, with EL commitments, injuries and suspension to Fellaini. Liverpool have an easier run in, but are hindered by injuries and inconsistent form. We need them to draw two of their remaining matches. Tough, but not impossible,

Haha loving the responses on this. I just feel it's the arsenal way to scrape that top 4 this season somehow. But I hope if that's the case it doesn't change anyone's opinion on the board or in Arsene head that big change is needed.

I was looking at a pick your best XI for the NLD and i when I made my team there were 2 arsenal players, possibly three, who would get in to my combined starting 11. Sanchez, Kos is he was lucky and at a push Bellerin, again, if he was lucky. what a sorry state of affairs the team is in.

It pains me to say it and although it's the spuds, rivalries aside, I've got to hand it to them, they've built up one hell of a team and if they can keep a hold of Poch next season they're going to go far.

Did the same thing but had a ratio of six Spuds to five Goons - five outfield players apiece and Lloris the keeper. Saying that, I wasn't limited to only fit players, so Santi edged it over Eriksen in mine.

I think it's easy to get carried away and say Spurs have "better players" because it's more the case that players in good teams can look better than they are. Can anyone seriously say Kyle Walker and Danny Rose would play even nearly as well if they slotted into an Arsenal back four and played behind Xhaka and Ramsey? In fact it's a massive testament to Pochettino that he's managed to get anything out of Walker at all.

I'd say Arsenal genuinely have a higher number of more talented players than Spurs and Arsenal would fill more than half of a matchday squad, but sadly it seems it would be far too tempting to swap our first 11 for theirs to have a team that gelled that well in attack and defence.

I had lloris, alderweirald, kane and struggled to choose between ali/ eriksen when i remember cazorla existed in a theoretical injury free world, for a total of four spurs players. Biased, maybe, but they've a lot of very average players. Players like walker and rose are massively overrated - systems can make very average players look much better than they are.

If anyone cares I had Bellerin/ Kos/ Monrea/ Ox/ Cazorla/ Ozil/ Sanchez. Monreal I'd be willing to put up for debate, but the rest are unquestionably better players.

I'm afraid to say only kos and Sanchez imo. And you would have to say even kos might not get in considering how strong the spuds back line is. This is based on this season only.

Perfect result for us in last night's Manchester derby, with both teams dropping two points and Fellaini missing 3 matches, including against us, for the red card. We must avoid defeat against the Toot on Sunday and then win the remaining five matches. It's a tall order, but possible. In effect we need to get ahead of Liverpool and Man U. Liverpool surprisingly lost to Palace at home and we are 6 points behind with two matches in hand. Man U have a tough run in, with at least two EL matches thrown in. Both teams are missing key players for the run in. Of course we need 6 wins, but I believe 5 wins and a draw could be enough.

5 wins and a draw would probably do it which would mean having to beat Spurs at the weekend plus Everton and not lose to Utd plus winning at Stoke which is not very Arsenal like plus Southampton where our record is less than brilliant too.
An awful lot of unusual results need to happen for us to reach 76 points although I do think Sunderland at home looks like 3pts,
My guess is 72 points at best which would at least stop the annual points decrease trend we've been on for the last 4 seasons.

Gunner I can't see us getting to seventy points at all. Other teams would have to collapse and our banker spurs are too far ahead of us to do that.

Iv heard we are appealing the felliani red card but jose wants it extending till the end of the season.

Ed01, I saw you made an interesting post on the Utd page regarding wenger believing in "the red zone" and if he put our platers through tougher training they wouldn't suffer as many injuries, because they would be fitter able to sustain harder matches. I was wondering surely that would be a common knowledge thing? train harder, last longer? Surely other people at the club must have different opinions to him, is he not willing to take on their opinions?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - no one at the club has any opinion other than Wenger. It is a total dictatorship.}

The conditioning of our players under Wenger has been in debate for some time. I discussed this with friend who is a Doctor and he felt due to amount of injuries suffered that the players were simply not conditioned correctly. You only have to look at the toot, who are worked extremely hard under Pochettino to see that they do not suffere anywhere near as manty injuries and that when they do get injured players generally return more quickly. Many players in the PL look far more muscular than our players, Unfortunately Wenger is extremely stubborn and slow to change in this respect.

Thanks for the reply Ed, though very disappointing to hear, no one can know everything and surely the best way to progress is to take on board different ideas and use the ones that best suit you.
