Just watched the game, I thought coquelin was superb.

Monreal was the weak point and W Ham knew it.

Shezza had a v good game as did the OX and Santi is coming back into some decent form also.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Wenger was obviously impressed as he gave his Coq a big hand after the game.

Sussex, behave yourself :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Do you think wenger sees Coq as the answer to our DM position? I personally don't think he's any better then flam or arteta and we still need a top quality DM

Agree0 Disagree0

That's not a bad shout AFC, I need to see more of him

Impressive yesterday for sure

Agree0 Disagree0

Flamini & Monreal were poor. Coquelin was average, but superb for him! The rest of the team played well.

Agree0 Disagree0

Its odd that Coquelin has failed in Germany and AFC in the past, yet I agree, he looked great against WHU. It makes a difference having a true DM in the team as opposed to converted CM players or Flamini (who has never impressed imo). A combination of Coq and Arteta would work well I think, atleast until the end of the season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Would like to see Chambers at DCM

Agree0 Disagree0

Coquelin is just there as cover for arteta, otherwise he'd still be on loan. I rate him above flamini though, he's looked sharp and you can see how much he wants to be playing

Agree0 Disagree0

Observations over the last few games:

Chambers is not a right back, every time he plays there he gets absolutely rinsed, usually by pretty average wingers. Markovic destroyed him, and for the short amount of time he was on v QPR Junior Hoilett was shrugging him off and getting crosses in far too easily. Have Jenks as 2nd choice next season (been great for W Ham). Move Chambers to CB or CDM on regular basis.

Cazorla has found his mojo. he's scoring goals, assisting, pulling the strings in midfield and looks lethal in the final third. His dribing and range of passing is immense. I don't think Ozil should come straight back into the side with him in this form.

Welbeck, hard worker, good player. Not a first choice starter, but makes a great plan b. 7 goals in half a season isn't a good enough return imo. May sound a bit harsh.

Koscielny holds our defence together. Now we just need a commanding CDM infront of him. Flamini does a lot of shouting but not enough tackling. Think Chamber would be good here, given a chance.

2-1 away at West Ham is a fantastic result. Lucky to be 2-0 up at halftime but on another day we would have got another 2 or 3 in the second half. Great defensive display and resilience.

4th Place trophy here we come :)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Good post as usual Detroit, don't fancy Callum at DM mate and the 4th place trophy needs melting down for scrap. I hope uafa decide only 3 champions league places for the PL club in 2016/17 because at least then we'd finish 3rd every year

Agree0 Disagree0

Jenko wants first team football why he went on loan, he isn't going to come back to play back up and ideally you don't want a lot of rotation at the back so as long as Debuchy doesn't get any serious injuries he's not gna play that regularly

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with you about Chambers at DM, he's very good on the ball with a great touch, tall and commanding, AW converted Petit into a DM and insists on playing Monreal at CB, I'd give Chambers at go in midfield too.

Carzola is playing better it seems when asked to drop deeper, almost alongside the DM. I think he's more positionally aware than some of the other attacking players and holds the ball well under pressure. The return from Welbeck isn't good enough no, but that's always been the criticism of him and somethign we need to work on.

And yes, it should have been 4 or 5-1 to AFC yesterday, they were overrun and outplayed in the second half especially.

Just watched game, it could really have been any score . Thought west ham were unfortunate, but all decisions were correct. We were nearly punished for not putting them to bed. Got to say coquelin was hugely impressive filling holes and tackling. Shez had a top game as well. Sancez a legend.

I see Mourinho is feeding the siege mentality he's been building ever since he returned to chavski, us against the world.
Horrible bloke but clever man

Believable0 Unbelievable0

28 Dec 2014 20:49:09
He blames everybody else.

I hate people like that.

My kids do the same.
I blame their mum :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

I think they will throw the title away. His style works for 5yrs Max normally less. Then he loses the players and moves on

Agree0 Disagree0

He's trying to become the new Fergie, his method of getting ref's on his side is a bit different though.

To be fair I thought it should have been a penalty for the foul on Fabregas. But when you consider the numerous blatant dives Chelsea players have got away with recently, everyone knows that referees do them more favours than disservices.

Honestly I find Mourinho quite entertaining. He chats so much nonsense that it's hard to take that side of him seriously. We have our problems with Wenger but people like Mourinho remind us how dignified Arsene is.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i used to like him oleg, but this time around has become somewhat of a p***k for me mate..

I hate people who blame others too.

I went out on Friday night with my mates, got hammered, slept in a ditch, woke up, went back to the pub, got hammered, slept in a ditch, got home on Sunday night and my girlfriends got the right hump! Don't know who's upset her, can't blame me though as haven't been there all weekend!

Chelsea draw, City draw, Utd draw, Southampton draw, Tottenham draw, Everton lose.

We have had worse days, me thinks.

Add to that Van Gaal and Mourinho whining like a pair of c***s and it doesn't get much better.

Agree0 Disagree0

An excellent day Dagala just such a shame its all in the name of 4th place again.
I did enjoy being right in the mix last season and have missed that feeling this season lots

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Dec 2014 20:52:35
On the plus side, we have been pretty sh*te all season, yet find ourself 'joint 4th' :-).

With players coming back, it could be onwards and upwards.

Happy happy happy.

But would have been happier happier happier if we held on at Anfield.

Great result today and a very decent solid all round performance.

Sanchez is just unbelievable, never seen a player with so much energy since Nicolas Bendtner.

He takes plenty of stick but I thought Sczezny was superb today.
No 'Mr Flappy' and he commanded his box very well.

Well done lads and well done Arsene.

Glad we won that, I like west ham but total disrespect resting players against Chelsea because they thought they would beat us!

Shame we didn't put away more of our chances though, but table looks much healthier for us

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Dec 2014 18:47:15
To be fair 337,

Every team had to rest players over Xmas, including West Ham.

But I understand your thinking, they probably thought they could take a hit at the Bridge and beat us at Boleyn Ground.

They were wrong :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

If the games had been a week a part he'd have gone for both no doubt, that's the thing about Gamble's get them right your a genius and if not your a mug

Well I have correctly guessed our last 3 results and got two of the scorelines SPOT ON.

My point, I am realistic, not miserable, I say what I think the outcome will be. I just couldn't see us losing at Upton Park, W Ham are too open . . . . . I couldn't see a clean sheet either.

An excellent away win.

Next up Southampton

Score draw. . . . . probably 2-2

Tight at the end and we got lucky a few times with defensive errors, but I'm pleased with the result.

Defensive organisation will take us a long way if we ever start seriously implementing it. But I'm glad to see Wenger is at least taking defence a bit more seriously with substitutions at the end. It may look slap-dash, but it may well have saved us 2 wins in 3 days. Everyone knows we need at least one more defender, but Wenger still has means at his disposal. Tactical substitutions is one of those things, and at least he's trying that now. We still need to seriously look at our set piece organisation and positional play on counter attacks though.

I'll also say that I've always stood by Szczesney but he's getting lucky way too often now. As many have stated, every time a ball comes in he charges out like a madman. This used to be something he did every now and then but he seems to do it all the time now. I think we should give Ospina a run in the team - a bit of competition should see Szczesney up his game.

Any a bit negative but we actually did well to win. Sanchez, Cazorla and Ox kept the pressure on West Ham so they couldn't spend too long building momentum, even if we should have finished it off at the end.

Good result, but I really feel we need to follow it up next week. I know Soton just held Chelsea, but we need wins more than Chelsea do and we should have the resources to hit top gear for a win. That's just what we need to do now. Very optimistic but hey, it's that time of year.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He had one moment in the 2nd half where he missed the ball but the rest of them he got spot on. We playing a team where they have putting lots of balls in the box and have carroll plus other players 6ft plus. A commanding keeper was a must.

If your playing against a keeper trying to claim everything you will try to avoid him and not try to deliver close to him. He doesn't do it as nonchalantly as Cortois but we needed a strong keeper today and we got one

28 Dec 2014 15:55:52
Well. Great first half, probably not fully deserved, but that doesn't matter. Hopefully more of the same in the second half.

Get in Southampton! still expect Chelski to win this though.

Interesting line up, quite keen to see what Coquelin brings to the team.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

28 Dec 2014 14:18:27
Kos and Coquelin start, Ox is back also .

Gibbs on the bench? Why is that?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I would suggest his innability to stop crosses coming in. Be interesting to see if it was tactical or as per usual an injury

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Dec 2014 16:46:40
Wenger can never win can he - plays two defensive midfielders to battle it out and win midfield battle and you plus others complain yet if he doesn't change tactics - he is stubborn!

I'm going for a 3-1 victory.
We've played against all the other inform sides, when they were at their peak, and we won all of the games.

Southampton: A 1-0 victory at the Emirates, where their goalkeeper shone. They were playing at their best.

Newcastle: A 4-1 victory at home, very deserved, and could have been five, as Welbeck's goal should have counted. They had just beaten the league's unbeaten leaders, and were on a 5/6 win streak.

Aston Villa: A comprehensive 3-0 victory away at Villa Park. They had won all their games and were second in the league, only behind Chelsea on goal difference.

Now let's just do this again, and hopefully we can start West Ham's downfall.

Joshuafish

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Joshua did you get those glasses for Christmas?
Southampton were down to 10 through injuries when we scored and Villa were ravaged by sickness when we played them.
Did you know we have never conceded home or away to chavs city or utd in the first 2 seconds or any game where we had our first chioce keeper playing.
Sorry mate but let's not ignore reality to make us look good let's be good enough for real

Saw a post somewhere stating that Cesc has more assists so far in his Chelsea career than Wlishere does in his whole Arsenal career. unsure how accurate but if true that's quite amazing.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

. . by amazing I mean hugely depressing.

Agree0 Disagree0

I believe that. Wilshere is like thiago at Bayern. Doesn't score many or set many up.

Agree0 Disagree0

Just makes up the numbers if those stats are correct

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Dec 2014 14:14:55
Funny because when I was moaning about letting Cesc go to Chelsea on here, most of the voices I heard didn't want him. For me a massive miss, handed the title to the chavs. Hope Ozil turns up second half he owes Arsenal in my view, hope the real Ozil arrives

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd have Fab and Ozil in the same team without a doubt, can't imagine many managers wouldn't love to have them both.

As for Wilshere, I've always said he doesn't do enough for the team. Appreciate you can't always apply the moneyball logic but he really doesn't contribute much at all.

Reckon Moureen would swap Fab for Jack?

Agree0 Disagree0

One certain black and green top comic has us in for Carvalho,
Any truth to this interesting rumour, it's not the complete solution, but is certainly a step in the right direction, wouldn't he be UEFA cup tied?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Depends on how much he costs compared to Schneiderlin?

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd take wanyama over him all day long.

Agree0 Disagree0

I've just read that we've agreed €18m for Khedira, according to spanish media.

Suppose we will find out in January mate! And if sporting have played in Europe then he could well be cup tied.

Not sure if a player has played in Europa league will be cup tied in the champions league.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'll be amazed if Wenger has paid that. If he waits a few days he can ask for what ever wages he wants from the big boys.

Good signing if true tho. Could help ozil finally settle and play well.

Agree0 Disagree0

I was thinking the same thing Derby, €18m for someone in the last year of their contract is a lot, but we have seen him spent £42.5m on Özil and £35m on sanchez! Let's hope he does it again!

Agree0 Disagree0

Its a hoex I think. He will join Bayern probably next summer.

Agree0 Disagree0

There is NO WAY on this earth that Wenger will spend that in January, AW hates the January window .

Just my opinion. . . . . we will not purchase anyone in January. . . . . . . .

Actually we might but with a clause only allowing the player to come to us in the Summer

But i'm going 2-1 to us

West ham are up for this one and I fear their front 6 could destroy our soft midfield and ragtag defence. This could be another Stoke.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Theo could well play a part today.

W Ham do play quite open football, which will suit us .

Agree0 Disagree0

AG I understand totally where your coming from with the stoke comment, 3 0 down at ht wouldn't shock me but neither would 3 0 up, if Sam yes it right a very big ouch could be heading our way but equally if he gets it wrong it could be happy days.
As for Arsene well we and all else know how he will approach this and every other game, his way
