Is this the quietest January Transfer Window ever?

(All teams, not just us).

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - yes..

28 Jan 2015 23:40:57
It must be quiet Ed,

I only posted the above about 30 seconds ago and you posted it already :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jan 2015 04:17:50
Ed, would you expect a very busy summer with much inactivity this January?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Give me a break.}

Nah all clubs squads are 5 stars on fifa right now with an avarage age of twenty-one and all the players are completely happ where they are so I imagine this is the end of transfers for atleast 5-6 years, wouldn't you say ed? :D

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - no way saint...not there yet but a good challenge next year with a few good signings in the summer...the futures bright...the futures arsene..

I think FFP has a lot to do with it dags, seems that transfers now depend on clubs selling their players before they buy!

Still we are used to that more than anyone

It's just hit me quite how ugly paulista is. Jeez, the guy makes Flamini look like prince charming

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i think making fun of peoples looks on this site is in very poor taste, whether it be on here, in the schoolyard or in work, young people also visit this site and may deem it ok to bully people because of their appearance........not so saintly now are you saint?.. :)

I detect you may have put on a few stone this week Ed?

Agree0 Disagree0

Spot on ed :)

Anyways. uglier the better, I don't want a bunch of pretty boys in my team scared of messing up there gelled hair or getting a bruise/scratch on there grid.

The not so kind on the eye footballers get stuck in n fight for the ball. So more the merrier please :)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - that would make phil neville a world beater je..

Booooom!! You smashed that one out the park ed :) niiiice

But to clarify my comments are true. he did say he would of crippled rosicky. bad ass ugly boy :) lol

Agree0 Disagree0

If flamini is ugly saint then I wouldn't want to go to some bars with you. There be no women left for me.

Flamini is no David vaughen. Notts forest

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jan 2015 23:43:16
Apparently Phil Neville has been 'told off' for the comment he made about Rosicky.

Possibly said in jest, but still a tad unprofessional.

Agree0 Disagree0

If I were an attacker I'd rather run towards a good looking defender rather than a man beast!

Err not that I think there are ANY good looking defenders!, apart from the Women's teams!

Cammy Out
Xx

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Neville was trying to sound a big man but got it badly wrong Dags. He's not cut out for the job imo.
Awful co commentator ànd poor pundit., e all jobs some will be brilliant and others will struggle

Agree0 Disagree0

Haha, brilliant ed ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - its all good mate.. :)

I think anyone taking offence to anything we post needs to man up, I mean the amount of abuse we give Dags and he's still here, albeit he has changed his name 428 times ;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - its like water off a ducks back 337, be it dags, dagala. malaga or spurs man he always bounces back, hes like a rubber ball mate.. :)

Red dog we are going to wembley. that's why we are happy. better than losing to bradford like you lot did, and what about you last year you beat the mighty wigan and you lot thought you won the european cup lol. i'm off to listen to chas and dave SPURS ARE ON THEY WAY TO WEMBLEY

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i heard that its live on UK GOLD raver..

Correct ed, along with their previous celebration song "diamond lights" by Hoddle, waddle and twoddle!

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jan 2015 18:27:57
Raver,

Sorry we didn't get to face Bayern, Real and Argentina in our cup run. You can only beat what's put infront of you. If its so easy why didn't you make it that? Oh yeah you got dumped out in the third round by us.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jan 2015 21:21:50
Come on sheffield

Believable0 Unbelievable0

28 Jan 2015 21:44:17
Do you think it shows a total lack of ambition, celebrating like that after beating a league One side to get into the Tinpot Cup Final. ;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - to be fair red dog..its the only trophy they are ever likely to win mate, dont begrudge them their day in the sun.. :)

Che Adams was playing down the road until recently. Very quick rise. he's an insane talent. I'd put first refusal in now for him.

My mate played against him and said before Christmas he will play for England

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jan 2015 23:14:05
Love it Red Dog

Agree0 Disagree0

So who would everyone want to win the cup now then. Chelsea or spurs.

Spurs for me, poch over jose

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jan 2015 03:03:19
Pitch flooded and then trampled by Wilderbeest. No cup awarded this year due to natural disasters. That would be an acceptable result for a Sp*rs-Chel$ki final.

Agree0 Disagree0

As much as it pains me to say it, Chelsea to win. I just can't ever bring myself to want spurs to win something

Agree0 Disagree0

Haha.

Agree0 Disagree0

It is so hard to choose! One hand I want chelski just too see Spurs loose but on the other hand Spurs just so that's one less thing Jose could of won this year! This is just as hard as picking between drowning or being set on fire lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Just pick one people. reply with either team you want to win it

Agree0 Disagree0

Chelsenham

Only joking, never ever ever would I want spurs to win anything even the raffle at the school fete!

Agree0 Disagree0

I will be doing my usual dance when these 2 teams meet in the final. Its a ritual type dance to request the gods fire down a car sized meteorite, just big enough to hit the center circle and suck the stadium complete with both teams and fans down into the abyss.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - thats a terrible thing to say EG...meteorites have feelings as well mate..

28 Jan 2015 20:38:21
Just my pennies worth on Diego Costa.

He is a terrific striker but very dirty.

But, players need that sometimes.
Sure, players like Alan Smith and Gary Lineker were terrific and never courted controversy, but players like Ian Wright, Eric Cantona, Thierry Henry, Van Persie, Van Nistelrooy and Alan Shearer all had a dark side, that's what made them great strikers.

But, for me, Costa is just plain nasty.

Mourinho is taking some stick from you boys, and understandably so, but come on, do you really expect him to hang Costa out to dry?

Of course he will stick up for him.
When have you ever seen Wenger slate one of our players for being a bit naughty? Never.

For me, the lowest of the low, was when Vieira spat at Ruddock and I don't remember Wenger coming down on Vieira.

We slate Costa, rightly so because he is an out and out ar5ewipe, but the Chelsea supporters love him and are singing his praises.

The same could be said for Mourinho.

Sussex summed it up perfectly in an earlier post, "One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter".

For me, players like Costa ruin the game with their win at all cost attitude.

That said, compare that to another player who also has a win at all cost attitude, Alexis Sanchez.

2 players who are poles apart in attitude and gamesmanship.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - but would you take him or suarez over the forwards you have now?, principals are fine and dandy..but they dont win you titles im afraid..

28 Jan 2015 21:09:13
Ed,

I would bite your arm off for Suarez and stamp on your foot (twice) for Costa.

Pun's intended.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jan 2015 21:37:31
I imagine the fans that were previously calling him a warrior in the belief he'd got away with his stamp are now calling him another name beginning with W with an anchor in it.

Some times titles are won or lost on players missing vital games or slipping and letting Demba Ba in.

A result in the negative against City could cost them more than they imagined.

Agree0 Disagree0

This will not be his last ban.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jan 2015 18:37:02
All this controversy we get now with players and managers about stamping, biting, elbowing, scratching - what happened to the proper, BLOKEY way - like Paaul Davies down at Southampton?

Too much girlie stuff going on - give a proper slap then take your punishment like a man!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - im with you ECE..

Great post Excilled mate, do you remember Pat Jennings raising his fist to Sammy Nelson at a corner for not concentrating properly :-) and they were good mates.
Today's lot will soon be growing their finger nails long and having a pre match paint job on them ready to scratch each others eyes out while looking good on camera.

Agree0 Disagree0

Violence of any sort isn't acceptable and shouldn't be advocated by anyone no matter how 'old school', from biting and scratching to punching each other's lights out, violence is not acceptable in any situation let alone in sport, and to be advocating it on a page read by kids is unacceptable in my opinion. Nothing personal against you guys. I know tempers can run high in games etc. but tempers can run high in an office, without colleages coming to blows it, violence on and off the pitch is a big no for me (today)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - living up to your name there...saint.. :)

28 Jan 2015 23:17:55
Love it,

Based on the previous thread above this one, that's a damn fine reply by Saint.

Nice to see Joel Campbell put pen to paper on a deal to stay with us

Believable0 Unbelievable0

28 Jan 2015 18:40:20
I was just reading that on the club website, also noted that Bielik and Akpom are now in the 1st team squad.

See that Arteta has got another 12 months extension on his contract too.

Agree0 Disagree0

Glad about Arteta - I think he is badly underrated . He might not be the fastest in the legs but he is in the head.
As my old man used to say- it's no good getting older unless you get smarter

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jan 2015 20:11:44
Speaking of getting old.

We use to call our Grandad Spiderman.

He didn't have any super powers, just had a lot of trouble getting out the bath.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - my grandad had trouble getting in!!..

When I get old I want to pass just like my grandad, peacefully asleep, and not screaming in terror like the passengers on his bus.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - love it EG..

28 Jan 2015 21:17:14
Love it Epping.

My Grandad use to suffer from arthritis in his feet, so my Nan use to rub lard on them.

He went downhill fast after that.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jan 2015 17:11:38
Quite like Gabriel. Ugly looking b****rd, mind you. A quality that some of our best ever defenders share.

So, do you think he should start over Mertesacker, or should we stick with the BFG?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think the handsome boy should be bedded in slowly, BFG and kos are a solid partnership for now, so give gabs game time here n there but let's get him used to the English game from the bench for now :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Injuries will take care of getting him in there - eager to see what he's about, him and Kos could be great and the 3 or 4 man rotation looks sound. We used to play Miguel from time to time now we have Chambers too, big upgrade!

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we have to have a bit of patience with him whether he hits the ground running or struggles to adjust, a 10 + game run is needed to form s sensible opinion either way.
Look at poor Callum 5 games in he was the bargain of the decade at 16 mil and the answer to our RB and CB problems all in one and it was even said he should be our new DM at the very start of the season, now few get excited by the thought of him starting a game.
Let's give this lad a bit of time before judging him as either a great success or a liability there are very few like Sanchez who start off and stay in top gear in season one

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jan 2015 16:44:14
Gabriel signing confirmed, no surprise there then, but at least I don't have to change my name!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

28 Jan 2015 11:28:16
So 2 counts of violent conduct for that thug who plays for that Blue team? 6 or 7 match ban? Well surely 1 charge? Probably let off again?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I hope he gets banned and ivory coast go out.

would people rather spurs or chelsea win the cup. sheff utd chances are slim of ccourse

id go spurs

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - nah...spurs winning nothing does me DG..

Rather that then jose feeding his ego. tbh I don't mind spurs gaffa tbh.

ideal world sheff utd win it

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Sheffield united have real chance tonight, they have proved them self's a good cup side under Nigel Clough and might well get the job done

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - not a chance mate..

I predict Sheff utd to turn the Spurs over

I have a feeling in my water, although that could be something else

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - its cystitis mate..

What does the ivory coast going out affect derby?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i dont know mate...maybe hes an eco warrior who loves elephants..

Maybe it's just a team night out and he's been invited?

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jan 2015 15:43:58
Eden, Derby was referring to the fact that if Ivory Coast go out, both Toure and Bony should be around against Chelsea on Saturday.

Agree0 Disagree0

I say costa stamps again ban the ivory coast for a year

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - costa stamps??....62p for 1st class.. :)

Ahh! that makes sence marvelous, probs wouldn't be back in time though?

Agree0 Disagree0

I would prefer chavs to win, we, ve got more chance of catching city, they're missing toure big time so hope he stays away as long as possible

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed, 10 costa stamps for a free coffee :)

Agree0 Disagree0

You guys lol

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jan 2015 20:00:01
62p for 1st class.

Cracked me up Ed.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jan 2015 10:36:42
Clubs should take more responsibility for the actions of their own players conduct rather than complaining about others when the boot is on the other foot.
Sorry Liverpool fans but if your club/manager backs Suarez numerous times during his Liverpool days then surely your due a Costa night.
When a player let's down the entire game with their behavior rather than appeal and protest against any bans his club should accept and +1game the length of the ban imposed and show some dignity imo

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I agree completely.}

Morinho and Rodgers are cut from the same "win at all costs" cloth. Rodgers and Liverpool's defence of Suarez was deplorable and Chelsea's Mourinho-esc gamesmanship both on and off the field leaves that same bad taste in my mouth. They can both go elsewhere for me, they are not what our game needs.

Agree0 Disagree0

Retrospective punishment has to be available and accepted by all clubs, deliberate violent behavior should be a minimum 20 games for the first offence and minimum 2 years second offence.
Suarez and Costa's value and wages would would plummet and there could be no better example than that to young players than to see a top player making them self's unemployable by most clubs even in their prime

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - bit harsh that mate..

Youre right mate it is harsh but fair I think.
Its a mans game and full blooded honest tackles are a brilliant part of it and sometimes people get hurt and even careers ended sadly but if its not deliberate its part of the game. Stamping biting spitting on people are totally unacceptable and should be dealt with accordingly imo.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - dealt with i agree G62...4 match ban, then a 10 mach ban for me mate, sometimes things are not as clear cut as they may seem, were they really deliberate stamps? some will say yes and some no, im just saying that you cant take a players career away from him for offences like that. is it worse than an elbow to the face or spitting?, or even a 2 footed challenge?...

I don't remember too many incident's of stamping a couple of years back End but they are becoming more and more common, I can't believe you can anciently stamp on someone 3 times in one game.
Klinsmann brought a diving culture to the premier league that's become a very wide spread and game spoiler in lots of matches and I think unless dealt with the ugliest parts of other footballing cultures will pollute our game too.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - its gone on for years G62, its just that with sly having 100 cameras at every game now nothing gets missed...dont get me wrong im not condoning it mate, just pointing out that its not exactly new..

When you see the slow motion of this it does look intentional and it's a shame that a player of his calibre has this in his game.

Understandibly the managers back their players but my issue with jose is how much fuss he makes when things go against his team, he was constantly in the fourth officials face last night and they won!

I think Mourinhos antics in interviews doesn't help these players as they feel he agrees with the way they behave, especially as he pokes other managers in the eye from behind himself.

For me Costa should be punished for his own benefit, he is a great player and should concentrate on his football.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jan 2015 14:21:46
I say bring back heavy challenges where winning the ball and simultaneously nailing the man is applauded. That will stop players going down softly when they realise they won't get anything. Also stop giving penalties when strikers get caught by awkwardly dragging their legs behind them, looking for contact to go down, Hazard and Bale are superb at this.

In all seriousness I think retrospective bans are the way forward. In the same way players get banned for violent conduct. Offences that are sneaky and deliberate like Costa should be 3 game ban minimum. Mexes of AC Milan got a 4 game ban for grabbing a Lazio player by the throat. Surely Costa stamping on a players leg (twice) is just as bad as it could cause serious injury.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair play Ed must he my age catching up with me mate :-).
But I must admit I preferred the days when evey now and then two players would exchange good old fashioned proper honest punches no trying to con the ref or handbags at 10 pace's either.
I guess in my little world that was real honest passion apposed to today's sly poison

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - fair enough G62 mate..

Hes looking forward but he already knows where he's going to put his foot, if it was an accident he would stop having felt his foot land on someone and appologise, but he shows no reaction to his foot not landing on flat ground, which to me shows he knew what it was going to land on

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - a hang them before the trial sort of guy hey eden.. :)

That was the trial its done and dusted now, we can all move on :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Total respect to you Ed, we have to be honest about these things if we ever hope to change them.
Its very similar to everyone complaining about the Rooney dive that brought about the end of the invincibles run but many people conveniently forget the Pires dive to earn a draw against Portsmouth right near the start of the run that made the invincibles even possible, it works both ways

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jan 2015 00:36:48
Hear about Diego Costa? Seems he's really gone and put his foot in it.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

28 Jan 2015 06:51:42
Well Mourinho has said they were "absolutely accidental" so the FA won't take any retrospective action.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hes due a ban. horrendous stamp. the second one he meant too. if it was james milner you would say he didn't mean it. costa knows what he is doing.

im all for replays by the 4th official. they look at it tell the ref to send costa off.

the fact jose said he didn't mean it is annoying.

Agree0 Disagree0

Didn't realise he was such a filthy player, seen the two incidents in slow motion there is no way they were accidental

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - when Liverpool tried to buy him the season before, I can remember his record being pulled up as the major concern by all the fans. It was terrible. He has previous of this kind of thing, he loses his head on a regular basis. He reminds me of Cantona, always on the verge of doing something silly but has such quality managers are willing to overlook it.}

Absolute classic example of " One man`s terrorist is another man`s Freedom Fighter! " Go on the Chelsea site and see words like Warrior, Fully Committed love his attitude etc ( was one guy had the decency to say they didn't want to win that way ). Just shows how tribal football is. Difference is though Costa IS guilty of stamping but fully understand Moanio defending Costa as he needs him for the weekend .If he says Costa stamps he loses him to a ban simples! Agree with derby very annoying but understandable - although still stokes them tribal fires we all love COYG

Agree0 Disagree0

Does he have priors for stamping ed? will be interesting if he gets a ban if they are taken into account, like suarez previous bite was

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - not that i am aware of eden..

But he's got priors for generally being an ugly muppet? ban him for that :)

Agree0 Disagree0
