So who is your Tip for the Top 2014/15 season, which Arsenal player do you think will raise his standing in the game beyond recognition next season as Aaron did this? Will Giroud prove all doubters wrong, Will Jack's career really take off or will it Mesut who will show just what a bargain he was at 42 million?

I'm going for Theo! I have a feeling he's going to really excel and this time next year the likes of Real and PSG will be making massive bids for his services, which of course we will resist

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Mesut has to come good!

Agree0 Disagree0

I think three of them that you've named will come good this season.

Jw, the World Cup will do him the world of good, but as long as he's fit pre season he should hit the ground running.
Like he's said everytime he comes back from injury he's playing with new midfield partners.

Ozil, I personally thought he had a great first season (not his best).
Needs players who can work of the ball to show what he can do.

Walcott, when fit last season was fantastic, will benefit from the man above, as long as he stays fit.

Agree0 Disagree0

Remy.

End of discussion.

lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh Dags!
Bergkamp, Henry and one day maybe Ramsey will all be talked about in the same breath.
Just as likely Jeff Blockly Wilf Rostron Brain Hornsby and Remy

Agree0 Disagree0

Diaby

Oops did I say that out loud!

Agree0 Disagree0

Ye of little faith G62, ye of little faith.

Agree0 Disagree0

Walcott, Ozil and Rambo will tear it up next season! Hopefully Jack as well

Agree0 Disagree0

I am no expert but I think for any player to improve they need to be actually playing regularly, not sitting on the bench or playing with the reserves. so if it's going to be the likes of Wishire or Jenkinson they need to be playing week in week out. not sitting on the bench watching a new signing playing in their position.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm going for oxlade and gnabry

Agree0 Disagree0

As a hardcore fan of Jack I really hope it will be him. But I guess it will be Walcott he is such an incredible player and now after a few he has the experience to get to most of Ozil and Rambo.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dags has me hook line and sinker, the only way we can end this remy fiasco is vote for remy.

Remy, Remy, Remy, Remy, Remy, Remy, Loic, Remy, Remy, Remy, Loic, Loic, Remy, REMY, REMY, REMYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

Agree0 Disagree0

Laker, you are a top top man, offical. Lol

Eds,
When does Summer Transfer Window open?

I thought it was 9th June but saw one of your replies on other site saying 1st July.

Is this because of World Cup or am I just being Dopey Dags? (I think I have left myself open for ridicule, lol).

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - july 1st dags..

Thanks Ed

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought it was open?? :(

Again feel free to slaughter me

Agree0 Disagree0

I always knew it as July 1st until football manager changed it on the game. The Errm so and so's are confusing me

Should we have jenkinson as our main Rb next season or get a new one.?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Personally I would go for Richards as he can cover CB as well. That way Jenks will get plenty of game time and I believe he can definitely compete for the starting spot like with Gibbs and Nacho on the left! And we forget Bellerin in this equation I think he will be competing next season also

Agree0 Disagree0

Sign Aurier or Richards but give Jenks his shot. He's a gooner who's waited patiently for his shot.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd be happy for Jenks to be given his chance over an extended period, we love him he loves us, he's never made a fuss or caused a problem on or off the pitch and dispite being on the sidelines for the majority of the time he's as committed and motivated as anyone in the squad.
Its a gizilion % yes from me

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree, Jenks could be a top boy

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't see the point of having a young back up for two seasons if you don't then give him the chance when the no 1 moves on. either jerks is and was never good enough, in which case why is he still on our books. or now is the time for him to step up to the plate. personally I would prefer us to now sign an older but experienced no 2 right back to cover Jenks rather than another young player to fill the no 1 spot. if you do the latter you might as well flog Jenks as you have just destroyed his future with us IMO

Agree0 Disagree0

Jenks is a great lad and a passionate fan of club. I believe he deserves a shot but we cannot only rely on him. We have to bring a reliable RB and Jenks can get about 20 or even 30 games like this season and I'm sure in a few years he will prevail. Don't forget he is only 22.

Agree0 Disagree0

I've said it a million times, don't Sagna should have walked straight back in as Jenks was doing a god job and getting better every game, I'd give him the chance as it didn't do Gibbs any harm.apart from all the injuries

Agree0 Disagree0

"As far as I am concerned, you will have to drag me out of this club before I leave, " he added. "I will work my socks off and hopefully next season can be a big one for me.

"If I have a good pre-season, work my way into the team and get a good run of games, there will be no holding me back." - Jenko

Love this guys enthusiasm and genuine love for Arsenal, hopefully he can back his love for the club up with some stellar performances next season.

COYG

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Give the lad his chance to be our Aaron Ramsey of14/15
He's been loyal patient and committed to Arsenal and obviously loves the club, is this enough? On its own no but he ain't exactly a bad players either.
I'd rather give Jenks his chance than take a chance elsewhere and bring in a No 2 compete with him also as some stated a few days ago Flamini can cover RB

Agree0 Disagree0

Makes him a club legend in my opinion, just for that attitude

Agree0 Disagree0

"Legendary right back, Carl Jenkinson."

That has a ring to it.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would sign an Aurier or a Richards but I'd say to Jenks, "Go and earn that RB spot."

Jenks on the right and Gibbs on the left. Love it!

Wenger; "I'm sure we'll come back next season and score more goals."
Do you think he has an interest in Cavani? He's striker who can get us more goals!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Out of curiosity does cavani earn over 200k euros per week? yes or no would be fine

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - yes...nearer £300,000 apparently..

Near to 300k? flips table and walks away.

I think I just saw wenger jump out the window onto a moving bus and do a double jump over crocodile infested waters.

it was nothing controversial

Lol thanks Ed025,

Are you still mad at me for putting up a pic on Arsenal sightings of you walking down the beach in your Speedo's? Lol

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - no mate...my fan club has now doubled to 2 with that pic..

You countIng Dags and Malga as 1 person or 2 Ed?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - only 1 of course BDG.. :)

Lol Ed.

And I'm not Malaga, or am I?

Agree0 Disagree0

Dg I think ed has a bit of a man crush on you:)

{Ed025's Note - its just a little bromance MgM.. :)

MgM, its all that Southern Comfort Ed devours mate.

He's a big softy really but I think he has more of a man-crush on Tom Cleverley, he never stops singing his praises, lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i do have a soft spot for cleverley dags....its a pool of sinking sand off the cornish coast..

Hehe good come-back Ed.
Respect.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed I'm sure there's an easier way to have cleverley to yourself than that

Right let's settle this for DG once and for all. Paul started a say no to Remy petition so the question is, should we sign Remy! Simply reply to this post a simple YES or NO.

That way we know exactly who wants him and who doesn't so that when he does sign for us, DG can wind up all the no's!

Only vote once!

NO

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I like your style Greeny, lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't mind either way

Agree0 Disagree0

28 May 2014 15:59:07
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - im with you jenny..

Am I allowed to say No if it means that by signing Remy we don't sign any other forward, but yes if we also sign someone decent as well (i.e Benzema?)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - of couse you are mate..

Saint is on the fence which is pretty much a no. Jenny I'm a bit unsure of yours whether it's a no or not and DG didn't even vote yes?

Looks like you're struggling DG!

Agree0 Disagree0

YES, simple

Agree0 Disagree0

Never ever ever on a Christmas tree, sorry Dags but its the big fat NO way Pedro from me

Agree0 Disagree0

For 8 mil not going to say no but will be pretty off if he is our stellar signing. If draxler comes as well or Greizman then its a yes!

Agree0 Disagree0

You lot will be eating your words and begging me for forgiveness. Lol.

Oh, its a yes from me.

Remember, 'In Dags we trust'.

Agree0 Disagree0

No no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no

Agree0 Disagree0

Dags I hope we never find out but if it should happen I really hope he's a massive success and PL top scorer with us obviously for Arsenal first and for most of course but also for you mate.
You been an excellent sport on this mate and taken some serious stick in the very good humoured way its intended.
Good on ya mate

Agree0 Disagree0

28 May 2014 20:17:33
Yes

14 goals in 26 games for mid-table club. Given more chances = more goals. Pace and good finisher.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks G62, as you say, its all good fun mate.

But, would genuinely love to see him and Olly up front, they would be class.

Thank you Detroit, we think the same.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes yes and yes

Agree0 Disagree0

Thank you 1404,

You are as pro-Remy as I am.

Good on you mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

Overwhelming no to yes ratio Dags!

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry Malga got to be no!

Agree0 Disagree0

Greeny, in a firm believer in the minority mate, lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

Its a no from me, I would rather Lukaku but the price Chelski would charge we could go for a better striker

Agree0 Disagree0

Dags, we know we are right that's the main thing.

Agree0 Disagree0

Any interest from the club in Benatia of Roma? Reportedly unhappy about the wages he's been offered and keen to move on plus in my opinion he would be a fantastic replacement for TV5 if he decides to move on.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Not from Arsenal.}

If Benatia joins I think he will be a starting XI player

Please stop posting shopping lists that add up to £100m. If we have that amount to spend then it includes salaries.

A basic 5 year contract at £75k/wk is almost £4m a year and £20m over the term- that's without signing on fees etc.

I would guess that a top striker for £40m would expect, what, about 120k/week minimum? That's £6.3m a year without bonuses. If he signs for 3 years, again a minimum I'd suggest, that's £20m.

It's probably worth appreciating that no club in England has historically worked harder to keep salaries at a sensible amount- often leading to our downfall.

It's a real shame about FFP being so tame, if they grew some balls over at FIFA they could finally get this under control before the beautiful game is ruined beyond repair

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - FFP has nothing to do with FIFA and UEFA know that there is a threat of a breakaway if they go too far, and they know that at least one side has said they will take them to court of sanctions are applied to them. Two sides have been given significant sanctions and another seven less so.}

It won't include a full 5 year deal. That's inaccurate. It at most will include the first year of the contract.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thank God someone talking some sense. We spent 95 mil last year on players roughly, it's just no one is smart enough to have worked it out, ed the breakaway league is just a threat, have you not yet figured out that they only talk about it when sanctions are threatened. If they do create a breakaway league it would be so damaging for football I can't see them doing it

Agree0 Disagree0

Its only Arsenal that seem to be linked with the concept that their transfer budget has to pay for both the initial fee and all future salary. let's be clear, no business pays for ongoing costs. i.e. salaries, out of their balance sheet. Under accounting rules it goes down as costs in the P&L. I thought Arsene was supposed to be an accountant. seems like he missed day one of the basic accounting course. !

Agree0 Disagree0

28 May 2014 15:29:13
@EppingGooner either your a sh$ep accountant or don't know what your talking about. If it goes on a P&L, the cost doesn't magically come from the secret pot in the back garden. MY 'assumption' is the 1st year of salaries are taken into account (which logically makes sense) which will show a true figure of the spend over a year. Also P&L and balance sheets are connected. Signing on fees I would also assume is included, so if he had 100 million to spend, these have to be taken into account. don't you remember when we were looking at Rooney, majority of people were including his ridiculous salary.

Agree0 Disagree0

Generally you include fixed and variable costs when you're trying to work out break even but whatever

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't want to turn this into a full debate on how you account. but let's put it this way. if you buy a car you only need the purchase price plus other associated costs of purchase up front. (i.e. insurance). however the dealer doesn't also require you to put down the next 5 years tax and servicing fees up front does he. its obvious that you will fund these future costs from your future income (i.e. salary). now I agree that you can and would show 1 years wages due in the balance sheet as a liability. but as a business (which Arsenal is run as) you don't need to have the remaining wages owed up front, as you will spread it over the remainder of the contract.everyone happy now?

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't believe Arsenal set any particular amount aside for transfers, so whether it includes wages or not is irrelevant.

Agree0 Disagree0

And their I was, thinking a transfer budget was for transfers. Someone will obviously have to calculate in the cost of running the Emirates for each match day in the season too. I'll bet the power bill is enormous. How much of the transfer budget goes into Mikels hair product weekly?

Agree0 Disagree0

Take out 20million for a years wages and work on 80 mil for transfer fee's simples

Agree0 Disagree0

Obviously firstly arsenal have at no point said they will spend 100 mil, however if your talking about money spent on players then obviously that includes wages

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah that's true SA, to be honest it's all pie in the sky anyway as only Arsenal know how much they have to spend on transfers and how they will finance it. My point was that most talk about our transfer resources seems to be based on a fictitious amount of cash sitting on our balance sheet. If that's the case that amount doesn't have to cover both the purchase cost and the full salary of the signing for their full contract. That would not not make business sense.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 May 2014 10:43:48
Dags, are you a secret magpie? First remy then debuchy. What's going on here

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Lol Saint,
nah, they are just 2 fine players who 'play' for the same team.

Agree0 Disagree0

DG, your man crush on Remy is verging on Flybos obsession with Giroud! Now throw in another man! Really? Too much!

Agree0 Disagree0

Ouch Greeny. Lol

Agree0 Disagree0

You can't argue with Greeny's diagnosis DG

Agree0 Disagree0

28 May 2014 09:44:57
I think if we add Griezzman (spelling) to our left wing that would give us a great attacking outlet down both wings with Walcott on the right, with girouds ability to hold up play and bring others into play could significantly improve out attack with a single signing, still would like Jackson Martinez as I believe he offers similar attributes with a greater finishing ability though, thoughts?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Spot on.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 May 2014 12:32:32
Griezman is a very good player, put do we need another winger? We have Walcott, Ox and Gnabry to cover RM and Podolski, Cazorla and maybe Joel Campbell to cover LM. I feel CDM, ST, RB and CB are all more important.

Id rather a top Striker than a winger. If we buy Griezman it just means Ox will lose out on game time and development. In 1/2 years he will be at same stage Griezman is at now.

We desperatley need a CDM to replace Arteta/Kallstrom/Diaby, A RB to replace Sagna, a World class forward so we can compete with the big boys and a CB as cover. I think we were very lucky to get away with only 3 CBs this season. Also need new GK.

Winger is a luxury, not a necessity.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't consider Cazorla to be a winger. and I think that is our problem, we keep thinking its ok to stick a central player on the wing. it hasn't worked with Ramsey, Cazorla or Ozil. with Cazorla in particular not having the pace to go either inside or outside the full back. I think a true winger needs to be able to beat a fullback either with outright pace, like Walcott, or by drawing the fullback and beating him, like Pires used to do. so to answer the question, yes we do need a specialist LW as we currently rely too much on the right hand side for our attacking play. yes Ox could fill the spot, in the few weeks each season that he isn't injured.

Agree0 Disagree0

Spot on too Epping! We'd also have the ability to change our style of attack and bring on an Ox or a Gnabry and play Theo or Greizman centrally, a front 3 of Ox, Theo and Greizman running at tired defenders late in the 2nd half could be very handy.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 May 2014 09:36:10
If its possible we should have Ramsey Fabregas and Ozil in our MF next season, to be able to and chose not to would be complete madness.
On the the subject of complete nmadness any news on Mario?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

28 May 2014 08:52:39
Thanks! Do you see us going for Edison Cavani since we have been told we have enough funds to move for anyone this summer and what do u think is his market value?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I would not hold your breath about Cavani moving to Arsenal and I have no interest in discussing money.}

28 May 2014 06:31:52
I would like the following, realistic signings, who would you realistically sign?

1) Ruddy - £6m
2) Richards - £8m
3) Williams - £3m
4) Pogba - break the bank - £50m
5) Balotelli - £20m

and bring back Joel Campbell.

Total - £97m

We would then have a very balanced, strong squad and can compete on all fronts.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

28 May 2014 12:33:59
Swap Balotelli for Benzema and I'm in :)

Agree0 Disagree0

I have a feeling we will pick up a very low cost keeper, give Jenkinson the opportunity of replacing Sagna with Bellerin as back up. We will try & keep Vermaelen and only make 2 or 3 signings in all. A keeper, a striker & possibly a midfield player.

We will spend £30-40m max.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree largely robbie, can see aurier coming in if he's still available at sensible money. Sanchez or benzema depending g in who's available, likely sanchez as he's multi positional and benzema seems to favour Psg. Then a Cdm not a.clue who though? Khedira?

Agree0 Disagree0

28 May 2014 00:15:10
Just got round to watching Soccer AM from Saturday. anyone else see it? Very interesting to see how he reaction when they asked him if he was moving to Arsenal. didn't deny it and just wore a Wenger-esque transfer smile.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hmmm sure I put it was Ashley Williams, either I'm going mad or Ed had edited my comment. Oh well.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I can't imagine that he did.}

I'm going mad then, haha!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I can't see any reason for him deleting it - is it rhyming slang for something? Polari - Hasn't he got a bona Ashley Williams?}
