Ed,
I know a point away from home is good, but I bet you are as sick as a pig?

Seems like another 'good half/ bad half' from Everton?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - we lost our way a bit dags, definitely 2 points dropped but that is the premiership for you mate..

Just seen it on MOTD, cracking game from a neutrals point of view.

Think Timmy should hang up his gloves though Ed.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - we could swap keepers with you dags.. :)

{Ed025's Note - tell him the ref owes him some money derby, 5 mins extra time and they equalised it the 8th..at least dick turpin wore a mask..

Should Coq have attempted that tackle against West Brom?

I'm all for DM's showing a bit of blood and thunder, but sometimes, especially with our history of impact injuries, you have to play it a bit clever.

I don't think he should have gone for it.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - come on dags, the guy is a 100% performer and does not shirk out of tackles, i would not want him any other way mate...plus you have more chance of getting injured if you dont commit fully..

28 Nov 2015 20:31:29
I do agree with you Ed, but if you look at the position of the ball and the 2 players, it was, at best, 60/40 in other players favour.
Of course, he's our enforcer, but sometimes you have to concede you can't attempt every tackle, especially as the Brom player wasn't exactly one on one with the keeper.

Watch Vieira, he doesn't go for every tackle, he was a bit clever and would sometimes 'concede' the tackle and just 'jockey' the player.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - the thing is dags patrick had better players around him who would help him out and be a second line of defence, if le coq does not tackle then the opposition player has a free run..thats the difference for me mate..

28 Nov 2015 20:46:02
In every injury, goal conceded and defeat there's something somewhere that could have been done differently with the benefit of hindsight.
Just one of those things that happen to all players at some point.

{Ed025's Note - i agree G62..

Hmmmmmm DAGS

As a player you don't stop and think " hmmm will I get injured" if you did that there would be no tackles. Coq was doing his job. winning he ball back.

{Ed025's Note - im with you all the way BG mate..

My only problem if i rember right, the player was not in a dangerous position. I look at a lot of our teams tackles and I think, why. The amount of times we try and tackle when it isn't necessary. Being a defender or defending is not all about tackling, but about position, shape and jockeying and for that part, i think that is why our defenders are not classed in the world class bracket. Top defenders are not defined for tackling but defending and i often wonder who coaches our defenders and do they listen, we are naive in the way we go about defending. I like the coqs commitment and he does make the odd rash decision, but generally now he isn't one i get frustrated with. I think he was unlucky to come out injured but the shape of his leg at impact, just caused the injury, .

Yep, I agree with what you all say, but I just think he has to be a bit more 'clever' in his tackles.

You are correct Ed about Vieira, he had a better class of player around him, hence why Coq has to be a tad more careful.

I'm not saying cut out the tackles, far from, but just be a bit more 'conservative'.

Yet if he doesn't make the tackle and the West brom player scores a wonder goal its where was Le Coq for the first goal?
Alexis is sometimes a bit greedy but 99% of the time a dream player Ozil is the undisputed king of assist but does occasionally play a poor final ball so I think we can accept Le Coq will not get everything 100% right 100% of the time in everyone's eyes.

5-0 win tomorrow and we can top the league. Wobbly legs the past two games, not tomorrow, but can only see 3-1 to us. But that will be good.

Id take 0 1 tomorrow quite happily, I doubt anything will be decided on goal difference come the end of May its all about the points with players still missing especially.
