So far what are people's opinions on Debuchy? Do you think is better, worse or same as Sagna. He certainly is much better going forward, something Sagna seemed to struggle with. His crossing and passing is also much better. But I think we will miss Sagna's solidarity at the back. 6 years I never remember the guy missing a header. However the guy lost his legs which causes problems, his best years are behind him, whereas Debuchy is still in his prime.

Thoughts?

29 Aug 2014 23:46:03
Debouchy looks the real deal!

Any footballer would struggle if they lose their legs :-p

Agree0 Disagree0

A much better full back, he looks money well spent

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Aug 2014 00:19:49
I think you have to ask yourself "Do we miss Sagna?"

For me? No we don't.

That said, nothing against Bacary, he gave 100% every game.

Agree0 Disagree0

To be honest, though his cards were well deserved and resulted in needless nerves, I was particularly happy with the first card. We were getting bullied on the pitch. Debuchy did something nasty, and sometimes that's what's needed. It sets the tone and shows that our side won't be bullied. Now, in the future, I hope he doesn't earn himself two cards with the game (and millions) on the line, but I liked what I saw.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Aug 2014 00:24:46
Better than Sagna is now and has been for the last 2 years. but still (from what we've seen so far) a bit behind Sagna in his prime! Brilliant signing though! We've needed a nutter in our team for some years now and it looks like we have one in Debuchy, the guy is mental!

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Aug 2014 08:55:28
Something is long missing in the team and I think Debuchy is giving us that now. Which ever team played against us in the past always believe that our right wing is vulnerable, and so they leave the mid field for us to operate. We are forcing our opponent to change their game plan now.

@Debuchy earned my pass mark

Agree0 Disagree0

Debuchy is a good player. I like him

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Aug 2014 10:25:25
Very good signing. Better than Sagna going forward and putting passes and crosses in.

We need another player like him as left back with Gibbs not staying fit for more than one month.

Monreal is an ok sub to me. But his cross finding Giroud just came at the right time and saved us. I would like to give him credit on that one.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Aug 2014 22:00:22
Seriously Jose needs to stop his lies, it is twice he said they won't be making further signings, and up turns Drogba and now Remy. He is just taking away Arsenals targets so we can't buy. He has been bitter ever since Ozil joined us that person!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

29 Aug 2014 22:14:54
Seriously,

That has so annoyed me

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't understand?

Why should he say he is signing players, if we dilly dally which we do every year?

Agree0 Disagree0

Next time Jose has something to say let's get Jeremy Kyle to do a Lie Detector test.

Agree0 Disagree0

I have grown to dislike mourinho very much since his return to our shoes, but for taking away the threat of remy I could seriously buy him a pint.
Sorry but I'm happy about it and as for saying no more signings and going back on what he said?
Isn't Arsene the master of that

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Aug 2014 22:42:51
Mourinho is a very very clever manager.

He sells a player, than gets a much better upgrade.

Selling Ba/Eto'o and getting Diego Costa.

Selling Torres and getting Remy?

People have a pop at him, but he knows what he wants and gets it done, straight away.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - but he is such a smug bar steward dags, i liked him when he first came, but now i have nothing but contempt for the man, as del boy would say..."hes a right plonker"..

29 Aug 2014 22:45:43
If you play poker, do you tell people your hand?

He does what is needed, I don't like the bloke, but I do respect the way he builds a squad.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Aug 2014 22:56:16
Totally agree Ed.

But you can't argue the way he builds a squad mate.

Sells deadwood and gets a major upgrade.

He is ruthless in his transfer dealings.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - but with an open cheque book dags...so can anybody mate..

We all hate Jose, but come on get with it for god sake! U lot are going into meltdown. If we wanted remy he would be an arsenal player. We were never in for him from the start trust me. Wait until Tuesday at 00.01 and ule be happy.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Aug 2014 23:09:35
You make a fair point Ed. :-)

Valley, if we sign a striker of quality, than fair enough.

If not, than it could be shades of last season, where we needed a striker in January window to sustain our challenge.

Man City won the league, fair play, but we made it a little easy for them by not investing.

Agree0 Disagree0

Have faith dags. Good things come to those who wait. People lose patience with wenger I can understand but were nearly there. A couple more additions and wele be feared again. One I believe is coming in the next 3 days. Then by end of next summer the squad will be complete.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Aug 2014 07:46:53
Fair comment Valley

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed25 take the lemon out your chops son! No team has a open cheque book anymore with ffp

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - teams with sugar daddies like chelsea and city do pinky, plastic clubs like them hire top lawyers to get around the problem, money always talks mate..

With all due respect Ed025, but you can't really say that Jose and Chelsea have been making dealings with an open cheque book the last few windows.
If there was unlimited amount of money to spend, the club probably would have gotten Shaw, Cavani last summer and possibly Pogba as well this summer.
And I don't think Remy would be striker choice number 1 to replace Torres if they could just throw money at it.
Chelsea have dealt with transfers very much according to FFP. It's not the club's fault that a club like PSG wants to buy Luiz for an obscene amount of money.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - barcelona have proved that FFP is a sham jackson, expect other clubs to follow their lead..

Its not only about Jose saying one thing and doing another, wenger never says we are done, he always says we are open to business. It is just that the has been taking digs at wenger ever since he has been back, and I Quote -- Ever since we got Ozil, this has left him Horribly bitter. How could Ozil overlook him and join arsenal. that's the topic for debate

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't know much about FFP so I don't want to argue with you about FFP being a joke. And you're probably right that a lot of clubs will be looking to take advantage of the loop holes in the rules.
I just don't like it when people still say that Chelsea just spends a lot of money. IMHO the club haven't been spending over the top since the Torres transfer (I know I'd think twice after a deal like that).

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Aug 2014 21:38:05
Eds are clubs, and by association the managers, able to withold information for any amount of time? there must be a law or rule saying they have a grace period THEN must release any info, be it a leak to press or a press conference

would be interesting to know how long in place some deals already were,

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what you are talking about.}

29 Aug 2014 21:16:46
Dags I think your going to get one of your wishes, Calum might well turn out to be our DM after all.
I'd hoped for a top notch experienced player there but its far from the worst of your wishes that could have happene I guess.
Some times its not about the ones that got away its about the ones you escaped

Believable0 Unbelievable0

29 Aug 2014 22:00:08
G62,

I always thought it would come to that.

Would prefer a dedicated Danger Mouse but would still be happy with Calum filling that role.

Only problem is, we have too many players playing in too many unorthodox positions.

Chambers- RB, CH or DM?

Ozil- Left Wing or behind striker?

Cazorla- Centre mid or Left Wing?

Wilshere- DM or CM?

Sanchez- LW, RW or striker?

Walcott- RW or striker?

Pod- LW or striker?

Ox- CM or RW?

Too many players, not enough definite positions.

Look at Man City. Name any of their players, and you know their positions, with exception of Micah Richards, who can play across the back.

Confusing.com.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not a motor racing fan so I don't know but has anyone ever won a Grand Prix using a hub cap as a steering wheel and wheel brace as a gear stick?
If so we're in with a real shot at the title this time round

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - that did make me smile G62.. :)

29 Aug 2014 22:57:41
Lol G62, agree.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Aug 2014 11:05:53
Dags I don't see any of that as a problem. You just highlighted the versatility of our players

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Aug 2014 20:34:26
Any chance of getting Javi Martínez, now that Xabi Alonso arrive to Bayern?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Seriously?}

29 Aug 2014 20:54:38
That is the Javi Martinez whose out for some time with an ACL injury, hence buying Alonso.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed

I applaud you for having to deal with so much tripe other these last few days. I'm sure you can't wait till the window shuts.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Aug 2014 20:28:01
Are arsenal really interested in cavani or is this just more papertalk

Believable0 Unbelievable0

29 Aug 2014 21:13:15
We will not sign any striker of quality, if any.

If we do, it will be some kid of Sanogo-esque stature or some 33 year old Italian who can't get into his team, looking for a final pay day.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed Dags

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Aug 2014 22:59:34
Although, we could be talking to Falcao tomorrow, so I have been told.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Aug 2014 20:24:24
If we sign zigic or what ever the lanky streak of pi55 is called Iam out of ya

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Notso witty

That means you will still be here

Yet another blue tadpole this I feel Whitty, we've had Khedira Carvalho rumours that have got our hopes up only to be dashed, but this could be the cruelest of the cruel of it turns out to be false :-)
Only joking mate I quite like you really, mind you I quite like Susan Boyle as well

Not her own choice though.

Monaco wants 15 mil euro for Falcao on one year loan. Wenger moves his radar to the other Monaco's Striker Berbatov

Believable0 Unbelievable0

29 Aug 2014 19:50:43
Just watching the Augsburg vs Dortmund game and I would be surprised if we managed to land any of BVB's players tbh.
Not only can I not see Dortmund selling them, but there would be no way they'd agree to let their direct Champions League competitors have them.

A terrible shame though. Reus is utter class.

Hoping Wenger does really know.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

29 Aug 2014 18:59:23
Ed02. Don't take this wrong mate but I can't tell whether you are a miserable git or a funny b' stard. I'm hoping its the latter. What do you say mate? -:) p.s treading on dodgy ground!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

29 Aug 2014 20:42:23
At the the end of the day, if the knowledge is sound, that's all you can ask for from the eds. Anyone with a facebook page like Ed02 and a lots of fans and notoriety is obviously well known for his personality, unlikely to change his style.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - We are still accepting members for the appreciation society on Facebook (tinyurl.com/c6j7t2m).}

Well I'll take it your a funny b'stard with a sense of humour and a good sport mate. Well done!

29 Aug 2014 22:17:57
Lol Golds :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Aug 2014 19:22:06
Just my two cents but if we don't sign a ST I'm not that concerned. If we change formation and play 2 uptop a Sanchez and Walcott with diamond midfield Ozil uptop Ramsey/ Santi with Arteta behind that for me is a good balanced team.

More than anything we need a DM/ CB and we can challenge. The only problem is if we don't sign a ST we are going to gett all the crap from the media all season long saying how we through away our chance and will get us in that poor mentality. A signing of a ST ( and a decent one at that) is more a message to the other teams that we are after this league! Whereas a DM/CB is strengthing the team but we won't be considered a major threat

Believable0 Unbelievable0

29 Aug 2014 22:43:31
the diamond midfield would surely lack natural width which would result in full backs pushing forward lots to try fill the spaces, and well we all saw what happened against chelsea last year when the full backs pushed on too far.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Aug 2014 18:38:21
Hi eds. Previously you had said you expect sanogo to be loaned out. But now with og12 injured do you think it will happen? Also do you think podolski will stay? Thanx

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i expect them both to stay mate..

29 Aug 2014 18:24:12
Roma pinching. Our transfer targets 2014 should take a look at Napoli 2013.
They tried that and failed at the group stages of last seasons CL and didn't even get that far this time, .
Could it be Arsene is playing a blinder with the Italians :-)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

29 Aug 2014 19:08:27
Or could it be they are nicking all the players we want mate?

Agree0 Disagree0

The old "French smoke screen" G62.
Its when you publicly go for a player to force a clubs hand into buying him while you secretly negotiate for his team mate Cavani.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Aug 2014 17:52:29
Update on Alex song? Surely he's better than west ham

Believable0 Unbelievable0

No not really he's average at best.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Aug 2014 17:40:32
I do have a feeling that we will not sign anyone else, if that is the case then we COULD be just a injury away from having a real issue.

But it is only if's and but's, looking forward to Sunday and Monday to the final hours of the window

Believable0 Unbelievable0

29 Aug 2014 19:06:32
Fingers crossed Bambam mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Aug 2014 17:22:50
Hi Ed002, I know you don't do names or probabilities and neither do you talk about money. So I will just ask a basic one. From your insider info, will we land a marquee signing in any position before deadline, squad players or a bit of both

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I have given you the names of players I know of interest in. I have no idea who you would consider a "marquee" signing to be.}

Ok thnx Ed, the waiting game continues

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Aug 2014 16:44:42
Rabiot off to Roma?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

29 Aug 2014 16:56:49
Yep, for £12m.

Roma also snatched Kostas Manolas from under our noses too.

2 very decent players that we needed, and for about £20m.

Worried.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Aug 2014 17:27:08
I'm pretty sure if Arsene wanted either they'd be here.

Agree0 Disagree0

What a shame.

Problem is that both of these players want games;which we woldnt be able to guarantee.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would not say we need Rabiot Dags. Unless you know this kid like the back of Remy's hand.

Big PaPa and Carvahlo are what we need. And a striker too

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Aug 2014 18:29:32
Maybe this means we have bigger fish to catch in those positions? I'm sure if AW really wanted those players at that price we would have got them!

I have a sneaky feeling we will make two signings of higher calibre.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Aug 2014 19:05:13
White Rabbit,

You are correct mate, we probably don't need him, if we have somebody else lined up.

But its a big 'if'.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Aug 2014 15:55:32
Eds, who as we stand are front runners to sign Carvalho. Thanx

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - You think there is a queue?}

Ed002, well Arsenal and Man u have both been linked as have others, so was wondering who are frontrunners.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Measured how? This is to be honest just wasting my time.}

I'll help you out YK.

Without having to check, I would guess London is closer to Lisbon than Manchester. So if it where a straight out foot race I would back the Gunners.

You welcome

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Aug 2014 15:48:47
Hi Eds hearing a lot of rumors about these players Sokratis, Carvahlo, Remy, Rabiot. do you think any of these guy will come in? All good options I think. Also do you know if there is any interest in Richards I think he could be a good player that can cover different positions.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

29 Aug 2014 14:57:08
ed
is there any small chance of us getting Falcao?I know you have explained the situation with Madrid but what about Arsenal?
Thanks in advance

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - What?}

29 Aug 2014 14:37:03
Apart from the obvious I think the best thing about qualifying for the CL is that it has put us in a very strong position to attract some top players before the window closes. Maybe! and I obviously don't know for sure, this is what some of the delay is about and there maybe a couple of players waiting in the wings to see whether we qualified or not.
Now all we can do is wait and see.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yes. but we are competing against all the other CL teams GB

Roma seem to be doing well against us

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes mate I understand that. But the point I'm trying to make is that we have a better! chance now we have qualified.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Aug 2014 19:42:31
Attracting top players isn't the problem, writing the cheques is the problem

Agree0 Disagree0

Yep

Both valid points, I think we might well just get someone in on loan, AW often seems to like the idea

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Aug 2014 13:56:33
Hi eds do you think we will sign any one else before the window ends Monday

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Yes.}

29 Aug 2014 13:20:16
Quick question for you all, would you like Arsene Wenger to be like Harry Rednapp in the build up to the last days of a transfer window or as he is?

Obviously not Rednapp's end result because he invariably buys rubbish.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

29 Aug 2014 16:59:15
Red Dog,

You answered your own question, lol.

As you said, HR buys rubbish. :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Aug 2014 17:24:45
No, I just meant the way he always talks to the press and says what's going on, like he can't keep his gob shut. Lol.

Complete opposite from Arsene.

Agree0 Disagree0

Arsene plays his cards close to his chest he has never gone public on the final day

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Aug 2014 17:52:05
Ah I see,

Yep, chalk and cheese.

Its always funny when HR use to come out of WHL and Gary Cottrell use to collar him in the car park.

Comedy double act, lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wenger doesn't like windows at all be they transfer or car, as such he refuses to talk about the former or through the latter.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Aug 2014 13:15:31
Hey Eds, I am not a regular poster but I do read all comments all the time, I know you all Eds are someway connect to the club/s, and you know who club will sign and obviously you all can't say directly, and we as regulars playing prediction game, that must make smile on your faces. Anyway very good site Eds. . Now Falcao rumours, any true in a loan move to AFC pleas?. Cheers

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I can tell you where I know of interest in players. I cannot say what will actually happen with that interest. I am sick of the Falcao question.}

29 Aug 2014 09:43:11
Ed002, besides Carvalho which other defensive midfielder/s are we currently looking at? & who do u think we'll like to strike a deal with in that department? Thanxxxx

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Arsenal will not buy for the sake of it.}

29 Aug 2014 10:04:12
By the way Ed002, loved this line:

"{Ed002's Note - Of course not. I am a rodeo clown and part time gentleman adventurer. I make a little extra money as a harpoon sharpener.}"

Believable0 Unbelievable0

29 Aug 2014 13:59:08
Christ, can you imagine the size of his grinder!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I think you mean "organ".}

I definitely think batman signal image should change to a Harpoon gun.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah that killed me too. Infact i'v started using the term "gentleman adventurer" myself. don't know what it means really but its what I am

Agree0 Disagree0

U

29 Aug 2014 08:13:01
Ed02 as u have said on manutd page that carvalho will join them is there another defensive midfielder arsenal are targeting at the moment as u have already said that rabiot us far from being a defensive midfielder? Thanx will really appreciate your reply

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I didn't say that.}

29 Aug 2014 13:20:21
Honestly can't wait for the window to close. Whatever the outcome. My head is fried from waiting and guessing! Hurry up clock! One or 10 I don't care anymore just be over and let me live in piece!

I feel the same way

Deadline "weekend" predictions:

Arbeloa (Ideally a 1-Year loan)
Rabiot 5Y Deal, EUR 15mln (as a package, not upfront)

And that is all.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

29 Aug 2014 10:54:45
Falcao
Rabout
Papodopolos.

Not asking for much.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Falcao Looks to be on his way to Madrid on a loan deal, the other two more likely.

Buyers seems to be put off Remy because of his failed medicals and Swansea are demanding a High price for Bony although perhaps a loan deal can be done

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Aug 2014 10:14:57
do you think Cerci is the only striker Arsenal will buy this summer?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

To be honest I don't think a striker will be bought unless it is loan deal.

I think it might be worth trying to get Bony on loan with a buy option at end of seson for agreed price. He is decent golascorer good in the air and strong and physical for his size.

Bony with Sanchez and walcott either side(Once he is back) is a good front line in my book, plenty of pace and power.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Aug 2014 09:17:15
While I love the guy. Is Poldi just Frimpong Part II?

More about jokes/tweets and less about goals?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Bit harsh he's not that bad. He is a good squad player too who scored some crucial goals for us. I'd be happy keeping him and he gives us strength in depth whereas Frimpong was just a waste if space!

Agree0 Disagree0

28 goals in 69 appearances isn't terrible in my opinion.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Aug 2014 13:22:24
You are kidding, aren't you?

Agree0 Disagree0

For some reason Wenger does not seem 100% convinced by him as he has never really been given a run of consistent starts. I don't think he suits the sole central CF position either but he is dangerous from wide left and offers better width and balance than Cazorla does from that side.

If think if Wenger is not fussed with him why not use him as a bargaining tool in a transfer. What about a swap deal with Swansea, Bony for Podolski, they seem to want 24Mill for Bony for a permant deal? or with Porto for Jackson Martinez? Even Rues at Dortmund plus some cash.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Aug 2014 16:47:18
Podz has certainly gotten a consistent run of starts. First season especially he started almost every game. He was taken of every time for the Ox because he has dodgy ankles. Even for Germany he barely finished a game in the last couple of seasons.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Aug 2014 09:02:39
Celtic have been knocked out the champions league more times than spurs have in 131 years.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

In the past month.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Aug 2014 07:57:55
Its been 36 hours since we qualified for the CL group stages and so far no rush of players coming forward to say ok I'll join you now, if anything its gone more quite since Wednesday night
In fact Carvalho looks more like going to utd now than he did before we garanteed our place bang goes the CL is key theory.
If anything its the opposite, maybe players think no European football less stress more time off, easy money

Believable0 Unbelievable0

There's still 84hours to go!
In all seriousness you come across as though we snap our fingers and players come running. Your expecting too much. I think 2 players will be coming in but Carvalho will not be one of them. Not convinced there has ever been real interest from us. More paper talk which has hooked and reeled in the fans

Agree0 Disagree0

I think there are probably deals in place with clubs and on Monday it will be like a late night game of poker as clubs realise that they are not going to get the money that they are after and have to except what's on offer.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Aug 2014 12:31:14
I would imagine that Arsenal are working behind the scenes to get people in. Arsene and the board must think what could have been last season if we had the squad players that the likes of City/Chelsea have to carry us through the injury times.

Arsene said this morning that the last few days of the transfer window are essentially a poker game. He must realise that we need the CB/DMF and the ST options covered - I agree that we have plenty of players that can cover the ST role but many are unproven and have not had a decent run to prove themselves. After Sanchez, Podolski is our most senior (fit) player but his only real run up there came after a major hamstring injury. He doesn't like playing on the wing so hopefully he gets a run out at Leicester to show Wenger why he is much better up front.

European football is actually a financial incentive for the players - endorsements/boot deals must be easier to come by/negotiate if the player is on multiple tv channels worldwide?

Agree0 Disagree0

It might just be the quiet before the storm G62, well hope anyway.

I can't see us spending to much more anyway. AW has allready brought in 4 players and I can't see him upsetting the squad with to many more as it has not been his style to bring in so many in previouse years but maybe he will who knows.

I believe we will get 1 more signing but he will only be a squad player. If we get a 2nd I believe it will be a loanstriker or someone young.

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope your trolling. These things take time and the window is open until Monday night jheeeez, calm down. It will all turn out good trust me!

With the window closing on Monday, I am becoming increasingly concerned at our lack of defenders. If you include the inexperienced Bellerin, we only have 7 defenders. We need to sign a CB urgently. Toby Alderweireld would fit the bill and I believe he is available. I would love to see us sign William Carvalho & Bony to complete the squad, but can't see these happening.
With a very full September, our squad with the usual spate of injuries to date, will be stretched to the limit.

It seems the story of Arsenal over recent years is

wait till 'x' gets back from injury.

Carvalho & Bony before deadline would be perfect and solve our present needs as well as good signings for the future! No need for another CB as Carvalho can cover that position together with Chambers.

Robbie after smashing it in the who we would draw in the group stages gunner62 has predicted a pretty good end to the transfer window.

Alonso has moved to Bayern which could indicate Madrid are looking at another midfielder such as Vidal. Does it mean they really will keep Khedira, he is still a year left on his contract so a move not out of the question.

United allegedly after Vidal or Carvalho, whether they want to pay the United only asking price of £80 million is unknown.

Nothing is being said about Lars Bender, is he still on Wengers radar?

Hints about Marco Reus. There are lots of possibles Robbie, quality players still available.

I think Bellerin is a better player than given credit for but do not think for a minute that Arsene will not bring in another CB it is pretty much a given but I've no idea who.

We can all see we are not far off, all the pundits are giving us no chance at the premiership or the champions league but with the right signings now I would put us in the mix.

Now is the time to go big or go home. :-)

Going into the season the defenders we currently have truly scares me aswell mate. I think last year we were very lucky to get away with just 3 CBs. One long term injury would have put us in real trouble.

Chambers has been excellent, but he cannot be expected to cover RB and CB. No offence to him but he is a big downgrade on Vermaelen. In my opinion we need 2 CBs. One more experienced CB such as Alderweireld, Howedes or Raul Albiol. I think maybe ontop of that we need a younger 4th/5th choice such as Ameryic Laporte or Fabian Schar.

But at this point i'd take just one CB.

This is why I felt it was silly loaning out Jenkinson when he could have also covered CB with his height in addition to RB aswell. Wenger knew TV5 was leaving so nedeed to sort this out before now

Hi eds, we maybe go for Remy after all, but I read he didn't pass medicals at Liverpool for some kind of heart situation. Any truth on that?. Could be good deal for us in that condition?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - he had an issue with his medical, which he failed, this was something like the 4th or so medical he has failed in his career due to some long term issue. I wouldn't want to presume it was his heart as I never asked what exactly it was, just that it was a serious risk to take signing him.}

4 failed medicals?! Makes sense Wenger dosnt want to sign him; considering he is french and low price and all!

There was stories of a heart condition which probably makes him a bit of a risk. Having watched him for 2 seasons in the EPL (QPR/Newcastle) and his relative cost to us, it seems a decent punt.

I remember George Boyd failed his medical for eyesight a year or so ago. He seems able to see the goal fine to me!

The problem with buying Remy (although I don't oppose it) if we were to get him he would just be a stop gap while Giroud is injured.

He would be behind Sanchez and OG in the pecking order and in a short time Sanogo if he turns good and even Campbell as they will need games to develop.

Meanwhile we'll all still be moaning about the need to buy a WC striker and we'll have a 28/29 y/o on 80k/pw with absolutely no resale value that we could be stuck with until his contract runs down at 31/32

Three days ago I despised the idea of Welbeck to Arsenal. now I'm panicking and would take it within a heartbeat.
Really hope I'm being overly dramatical and Arsene has something tasty up his sleeve but I just can't see it.
And like it or not, Welbeck is an upgrade on Sanogo.
Please Wenger, get some deals done. The world and his wife knows the players/positions we need, get them done. PLEASE!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Arsenal are doing what they can. If they completed all of the transfers today you would be bleating on Monday - bit of tension will do you good.}

You really don't need to panic, I'd rather him get the best players possible then by crappy quick buys we have a few more days, these things take a little bit of time, be calm, be positive :)

I feel like I'm on here calling for patience from folk a lot on here. I think some people may just like to have a whinge. Anyway, people are now saying Sanchez can't play CF, because he can't hold the ball up and will get bullied off it. I encourage you to watch a replay of the Besiktas game at the Emirates. He held the ball up, back to goal, on numerous occasions. At his feet, he was constantly beating off multiple opponents to keep the ball. In the air, he was able to chest it down to his feet under pressure, multiple times and won headers against bigger opponents. All this in his 2nd competitive run at CF for his new club and only his 4th match in total. I for one, was extremely impressed by him, he completely exceeded rather high expectations. He was also winning the ball in the front 3rd for us. Brilliant. I've been going on about another CF, even before Giroud got injured. Cover is still required, but a backup will be fine (Remy) with Sanchez to shine up top for us.

Try again lol

Can you really see Sanchez bossing the CB pairings at Chelsea or M City?

Sanchez is better from out wide

Wenger still has this vision of playing like Barca a few years back.

Agree0 Disagree0

What I loved most about his display and what we have been lacking for a good while is that he had the tactical sense and know how near the end of the match to just keep the ball up the other end of the park and waste time and by slowing the besiktas attacks, a bit of "match craft" as the commentators kept bleating out :-)

Banbury mate. Even if I disagree with your opinion, I'll respect it. "try again lol" just comes across as arrogant and conceited. Obviously, I can see Sanchez holding his own against the City and Chelsea, otherwise why would I say it? Just like Suarez did, or Michael Owen once did or Aguero does against big and strong CBs. If the only way to "hold your own" against big CBs is to be big and strong yourself, you must have been cheering when we were linked to Zigic. I honestly think Kompany, Mangala, Cahill and especially Terry will be very worried about having Sanchez taking them on.

I'm seeing a couple rumours
•Interest in Reus
•Possible £50m for Cavani
•Loan deal (worth £20m) for Falcao

All tabloid stuff, don't know what to believe although wouldn't mind any of them being substantial

Anything in these rumours?
