Half way and top of the league. really hope wenger strengthens in jan.3 players needed a utility defender, proper defensive midfielder and a clinical striker.
Unlikely and expensive but with these 3 areas covered I think we would be the strongest squad in the league and also have a genuine chance in the champions league.

I really hope Arsene takes advantage this time of our position and resources and gives us our best possible chance to be champions.

Wanyama and there has to be a top draw striker who wants game time before the Euros we can get on loan.

Agree0 Disagree1

30 Dec 2015 00:01:39
The very real possibility of the Basel midfielder Elneny coming in kind of kills any chance of Wanyama signing to be honest.
And as I'm shocked we're even signing him i very much doubt we'll be seeing anyone else let alone a top drawer striker, sad but unfortunately true.

Anybody see the David Beckham documentary tonight?

Irrespective of what team you support, you have to admire the man.

7 games in 7 continents, thousands of miles travelled, all in aid of UNICEF.

I have a lot of respect for the guy.

My personal view of him is he's a very genuine person who has made the most of his talent and himself and genuinely wants to give something back.
Really good guy and a fantastic clarity.

Absolutely - loves the game, squeezed every bit of skill out of himself by training hard and practicing, responded well to the media hate campaign after certain instances in his life, put up with Victoria, helped our Olympic bid and does a huge amount of work for good causes. Pretty good role model I would say.

Nice to see us Gooners show some class and highlight such things

Nice post.

Wide open league, all you can ask is it is in your own hands. If we are in this position come beginning of march, dreamland again.

We have another possibility to go further ahead in next games on 2nd, we have Newcastle at home and city have a tough game away at Watford, Spurs go to goodison and Leicester have Bournemouth at home.

This are lining up for us nicely lads. Sanchez's injury was a good thing - he gets a forced rest and it really let Ozil and Walcott get there mojo back, even Giroud.

Now Ramsey is getting it together in the centre of the pitch and reinforcements coming from Switzerland to ease out Arteta and Flamini (respectfully) .

I am expecting us to pip the EPL title in a tight race, give Barcelona all they can handle and make a respectful defence of the FA Cup. can't wait for 2016.

Agree.
Sanchez and Coq are the 2 players we need back.
Although, as you said, we haven't missed Sanchez as much as expected, which is a good thing.

Thought occurred to me the other day that we have another business man I our club, besides Wenger. Flamini. We all know Wenger likes intelligent players, not just on the pitch. I wonder if part of the reason for bringing him back is that he sees a future for him in another area of the club. And with the potential finances from his business, perhaps a future owner?

Arsene Wenger reminds me of a 2nd hand car dealer. getting rid of players at the right time when the engine is going and not taking players back. how many of us were crying out for cesc to come back. ozil seems like a Ferrari compared to cesc who's legs have gone. henry, veiria, overmars, petit weren't the same players after they left us. Wenger should get some credit for that. arsene "Boycie" Wenger. Where is the clapped out rvp. hardly robin reliant.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

29 Dec 2015 16:34:30
Cesc was amazing last year and so was hazard matic etc. Theyl be fine next season I reckon under a new manager. This season is over though surely for them.

If real Madrid come in for hazard will he be sold? i'm sure they will bid this summer.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Dec 2015 17:31:41
Sligo gooner makes a fair point. Wenger has an uncanny knack of knowing when to get rid of players. He has made and saved the club a fortune over the years, especially when it was needed during the change of stadiums.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Dec 2015 17:44:49
Agree with Sligo

Hazard never played for us Derby lol

Cesc was good, but nowhere near amazing. That's a strong word there Derby :)

Nasri Clichy Tuore Cesc The Dutch bloke what did any of them ever achieve once they left Arsenal?
They must kick themselves when they look at their medals compared to what they could have won with us!
I'm not having a go but let's keep it honest both ways.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - some guy called Cole failed miserably as well....}

29 Dec 2015 18:46:26
Oh yes Ed I forgot about that mug he must be gutted with that silly medal collection and best of we saved the £5000 a week he wanted to stay.
As said not looking to upset anyone but there's been a lot of mistakes with players being let go and those who should never have been signed in the first place.
Its not all been pretty as some people are dressing it uo to be.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - it is certainly a mixed bag. especially odd to suggest the guy who kept hold of Diaby so long is good at making the decisions on when to offload players!

29 Dec 2015 19:10:18
Arsenes fist 10 years were unquestionably brilliant but questions have been increasing rapidly over the 10 (almost) , Diarby Flamini Arteta Rosicky all are all good questions I'd like to ask Arsene why on?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - that executionist,s outfit does not suit you one bit G62, i really dont think arsene is accountable to many people least of all individual supporters mate..

29 Dec 2015 19:23:01
quite a few players were kept far too long, bendtner springs to mind.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - sometimes we dont get to know the ful story eden, some may be kept as they are hard to offload and the club has contractual obligations, things are not as straight forward as some might suggest in these matters mate..

29 Dec 2015 19:34:33
Totally respect that Ed025 mate although he does seem to talk to the liite posse who wait hours for him after each home game and answer their questions, don't think I will be joining them anytime soon though :-)
Arsene has and still does some excellent things for Arsenal football club but equally some of the stuff he does is totally baffling and very very frustrating.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - we dont see all that goes on at the club G62, the contracts some players have are like war and peace mate and have that many clauses in them that a philidelphia lawyer would struggle with them, i dont pretend to know the ins and outs but i do know its not as easy as people think to just offload a player..

29 Dec 2015 20:03:15
None of us know the full story Ed mate but we do know Arsene quite happily says he was right not to sign a striker in the summer or anyone other than Cech come to that and it does seem every other club can find the player Arsene says are not available each and every season.
As said mate he's done some unbeliebly great things for Arsenal but he has made some glaringly obvious mistakes that all but he could or would see too.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - no manager is perfect G62, yours is still one of the best even though as you say some of his dealings can be baffling at times mate..

29 Dec 2015 20:41:46
If you were to ask any football supporter from every football club, I'm sure they could list at least 3/ 4 players that they feel should not be at the club for one reason or another. "Too old/ legs are gone/ too injury prone/ etc etc etc.

Part and parcel of football I'm afraid.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Dec 2015 22:04:10
To be fare on wenger, he signed 3 world class players in the last 3 years. I'm with he shoyld've signed an out field player last summer but for some reason god knows why he thought that our players will stay fit the whole season. For our club record he should have seen this coming.
As for before come on guys we had denilson, chamak, and lord bendtner what else could you ask for lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Dec 2015 00:27:09
No offense but Arsene sold players when they had reached their peak eg. 28/ 29 years old. They've all pretty much gone on and won titles. Looking at them now 3/ 4 years down the line, of course they're not likely to be great anymore as they're all in the decline of their careers eg. 32/ 33 years old.

Would I have a 29 year old RVP who scored 30 goals in a season right now? Of course. Would anyone want a 32 year old RVP, definitely not. If you want a true reflection of whether Arsene sold players at the right time you need to look at what they went on to achieve the year they were sold and the year after only. Looking at a player 4 years or more after you sold them and the club who bought them has moved them on won't give you an accurate reflection.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Dec 2015 00:36:28
Since Fabregas was sold, barring this current season, he's averaged around 10 goals and 20 assists per season and won
2 league titles, 6 cups and the euros with spain.

Have to hold my hands up about ozil. always new he had the class and ability. but didn't seem interested and wouldn't work hard for the team different player now, who covers ground always wants the ball to make things happen. now we look like we can score goals from corners. if we had higuin on the end of them thru balls. we would win the league no bother. he plays for Napoli he won't be cup tied in Europe I think? . played with ozil at Madrid, natural finisher around 27.go in 55m . come on arsene you know it makes sense. imagine the shock waves it would send around Europe, never mind the premier league.

29 Dec 2015 09:39:44
Just got the opportunity to watch MOTD and firstly have to say that it's becoming a joke watching ozil he's on a complete different level to the rest of the team, Ian Wright was right in saying that the rest of the players need to get on their toes a bit more! He created 9 chances and at least 3 of them were easier to score than miss! You have to say that Walcott needs to be converting more because his desire to play as the striker won't happen as oliver giroud is proving the better finisher and Walcott is now looking like a decent winger.

Petr cech well done! Great goalie and a gentleman as well!

I have a soft spot for the cherries and love what Eddie Howe has done there, plays a lovely game that just lacks that bit of experience and quality not helped by the injuries that they have got this year and losing Callum Wilson is a big blow because I rate him and think if he gets fit they have a genuine class striker! Hope they can stay up so we can get a good look at them next year! Eddie Howe for Arsenal guys? If guardiola goes somewhere who else could replace wenger?!

I posted after the Sunderland game saying how important it was for us to try and keep ourseleves in contention over the xmas peroid, until we got a few players back from injury. Apart from the Southampton horror show, we have done really well. However the squad is down to the bear bones and with really tough fixtures in Jan, we need to buy a couple of players to streghten the team, as i don't think we can afford to wait until Feb or March for players to come back from injury. I hope we don't waste this great chance for the title.

It just goes to show you get what you pay for. We paid top money and got a top player. Imagine if we had a real quality striker playing with him he would have about 25 assists already. Theo and giroud really should have had at least 1 each yesterday.
